Yes me waiting for you! Had to go to the cake shop for a TART.

Some might argue you had more fun with the tart, anyway -- probably all for the best . . .

So when Andrew sez ... good nite after chattin' about these "cakes" an' "tarts"... where DOES the good swabbie really go? <chuckles>

And then, you really have to go into this cruise with a whole 'nother idea....

Only Cunard can make 5 days at sea sound so exotic and exciting!

March 2008
1 Sat Cruising the Coral Sea
2 Sun Cruising the Coral Sea
3 Mon Cruising the Banda Sea
4 Tue Cruising the Celebes Sea
5 Wed Cruising the South China Sea

Definately a class act all the way! :thumbsup2

First of all, who spends money to stay in Lompoc??! :lmao: I mean, if you're not a guest of the "Federal Country Club" or at least visiting someone there, why bother? Last I saw, Lompoc was a bigger boil on the butt of California than Torrance! :teeth:

Glad DNiece is okay...DS did some sort of spin/dive/jump/Crouching-tiger-hidden-dragon move and smacked his forehead on the coffee table once :scared1: Big angry looking knot swelled up in about 3 minutes! :headache: It was so bad I really thought about taking him to the newly opened hospital in the area. Swelling was gone the next morning and he was back at it again :goodvibes

Love the Westin St. Francis! Stayed there for NYE once...never again!! Not the hote, SF on NYE... Oy! What a madhouse!!! I think Las Vegas was a little more tame than SF! And let me tell you, trying to negotiate those hills after a celebratory glass of bubbly or 2 or 3 isn't easy! Plenty of police presense but that didn't stop the occasional streaker!

We choose Lompoc because they had an Embassy Suites there and it was relatively close to the "right" train station. Aside from that - yeah - the St Francis was nice. Service was great as usual. Had a front desk manager helping me when an angry lady interrupted us - and he asked her to wait a moment as he was with me. After a bit more of an exchange I offerred to wait while this urgent lady got her way. I didn't really care one way or the other and she might actually have a valid crisis... you see she had already tried to interrupt one or two other folks up front and was asked to step back or something like that. Well... I let her go so she could get what she needed. Then as it was getting finished for her she stepped over to the front desk manager off to the side to say something... and my A-Manger stepped over to follow. Evidently HE heard her saying something that he felt needed his comment. As I watched I could overhear her saying my manager had been ... let me see ... what was the term she used?.... she said he had been rude and had been impolite in handling her. The AM looked perplexed and was about to say somkething when I stepped forward to interject... I said the AM had been totally polite and proper - had done nothing wrong and was 1st rate. The lady who was complaining looked as if she had been slapped speechless and just stood there in total silence and said nothing more while the front deck supervisor finished helping her (all she needed was a front desk key - and evidently they were being very careful about who she was before they gave her a replacement key). I appreciate the procedure they were exercising.... given her attitude.

She stomped off - the AM returned to finish what I needed and I turned to leave... when a few steps from the desk he called me back - and said my courtesy in letting the rude lady go ahead of me needed to be rewarded. He offerred my family lunch on the St Francis. Well, initially he said he wanted to do something nice for my party and asked how many were in the group. I said we had 4 rooms, 7 adults and 3 kids. HE hesitated and dialed it down to just liunch for my immediate family. So I suggested a few desserts and cookies would be preferable so I could share snacks since we were about to go to lunch with the family. And on returning to our rooms we had a couple of desserts, cookies and a couple of snadwiches. The sandwiches ended up being driving snacks for me though since we had already had a heavy lunch.

Anyways... on the running crowd and the NYE crowd you must have encountered... I can only say I can imagine what it must have been like. The photo above is cited as NYE in SF... and the crowd must have been "crazy". Frankly, I like SF... except I like it more as a place to visit then live permanently.

Maybe one of these days we'll try SF and LV on NYE. My spouse and I are not huge and wild party types - so we typically don't do the nite on the town thing for NYE.

So - you suppose there would be much difference between the waters in any of these Seas?
<chuckles>

photo_4.jpg

Yeah,

I guess doing Cunard should be a "classy" experience... only thing... I'm such an "average joe" I don't think it would do a lot for me. Now - to try it though... that would be ... interesting.

OK... gotta run errands now... adios folks. I hope to be lurkin' for the big SIX -O.... alas... I'm so busy tonight and tomorrow that I think I'm likely to miss it. SO... I bid the swabbies good LUCK! I think we're gonna need it against the band of Wenches gathered and lurkin' here.... <chuckles>

Real quick trip report. Pics have not been edited yet, haven't even uploaded the 2nd camera. So those will come later.

We did not see the movie. We had the cheap seats, which meant we camped out on Main Street all day, just for a chance to see the stars walk the red carpet.

It was a blast. I'm still exhausted but we had a great time. We got autographs from Johnny, Orlando, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Pryce (Gov Swann), Kevin McNally (Mr Gibbs), Chow Yun FatCap Sao Feng), Martin Klebba (Marty), David Schofield (Mr Mercer) all from the movie. Then we also got Christy Ramano (Kim Possible), Jon Voight, Wilmer Valderrama (That 70's Show), Ian Zierling (Dancing w/the Stars), Kim Smith (Victoria Secret model), Ricardo Chavira (Desparate Housewives), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty).....whew, that's all I can remember right now.

Got in line at 3:30am. There were already about 500 people ahead of us. Security opened at 5. We got in line for the farthest left turnstyle and were about 20 people back. When the gates opened at 6:30am, we grabbed our spot on Main Street directly in front of City Hall. We were about 30-40 feet from the beginning of the fans. Directly across from us were the main paparazzi set ups. Many of the photos you may have seen floating around were taken right in front of us. The stars did a long line of media, then came back to the beginning to greet the fans. There was a group of 7 of us. We were first and second rows behind the barriers.

It was a very long day and at one point I thought I was going to have to give up. I got so naseaus. Not sure why, maybe just the heat and the crowds. I took a break in City Hall and when Keith Richards was walking by, I headed back out. Fortunately we had a great group of people who were waiting with us all day long and they let me back in to the front.

Finally left the park about 8:45pm. Didn't get to sleep until 11:30pm. Then was woken up by fireworks at 11:45pm. I guess the movie had just ended. I'm sure it was great. I'll be seeing it on Thursday!!

WOWEEE Monica!!!! This guy's a definite KEEPER! :rotfl2:

(and a man after my own heart)

And I thought I was the only wacko with a cordless blender......this guy I gotta meet!!

Not only does he have the blender. He's got a custom case for it. He's a sound guy by trade so he has those neat black boxes, very sturdy on the outside, but fully cushioned inside so the blender is nice and safe!

OMG!!!!! Don't miss DHWs tonight!!!! :scared1:

Don't tell me on the boards tonight. ;) I am going to tape while I am at the library.:happytv: I will say if Apolo does not win, something is a sooo wrong.:rolleyes1

Dh is taking off work to go see first show Friday. I do not want the crowds on Thursday night. It better do much better than Spiderman 3. I thought the movie was terrible and it made that much.:lmao:

So don't worry about the extra angles and just wait until you see the specialist on Wednesday . . . keep the stress level down and the BP as well and maybe everything will work out without any extra meds.

I agree!!! I hope Andrew just listens.;)

Been DIStracted a little on my other thread. Heard Andrew's been blaming me for some things. Don't believe it - as BelleLinus says - blame Andrew. Anyway, just popping in as the dryer buzzed so I just wanted to post a quick :drive:-by and say hi - hope to be on later.

Also agree with Cheryl - I hope Apolo wins - he's hot! :faint:

LOL - BTW - that isn't sick is it to have the hots for a younger guy? I mean the swabbies do it all the time, why not us??? I'd better stop now before the clothes get all wrinkled. Later - :wave2:
