GOOD MORNING TO ALL OF US EARLY RISERS

WOW:scared1: you are so right. Our DD called and said quick put on AI, Barry Gibb is on. When did he get so old looking. Father time:hourglass has not been kind to him. And do you think he has had a nip & tuck, or is it that his face just got heavier and it's pulled the skin tight.

John

I vote nip/tuck. I was shocked to see how old he looks.

Had my mani this week too. Picked what I thought was a really pretty coral. It's orange. No, it's yuck. How embarrassing, and I have to look at it for two weeks.:sad2:

And about my mani....it's funny you should ask. I choose a cheerful pinky/orangy color (or so I thought) I now have Fluroscent Pink Nails. Look pretty horrible and I'll have it for three week :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK ladies, make a trip back to the salon for a polish change. My place does it for $5. It is much better than hating your color for 2 or 3 weeks. :goodvibes

Cool! :thumbsup2 Is that on the 24th?

The Cinemak in town is preselling several shows for Thursday. I wish the one closer to our house was. They have an 8, 9 and 10 and a digital at 8:30. I think I am gonna go with the digital.:)

party: Happy Birthday party:
Pam!

Quick, Quick.......who stole Barry Gibb and put the gray-haired old man in his place? :rotfl2:

Lordy he looks ready for the dirt nap!

I didn't see him last night, but the last time I did, wow he looked decrepit! They were my boys back then. Where has the time gone?

Glad that your cc stuff worked out ok. That is scary.:scared1:

Yes, have had Captain's dining for a while - guess "new" is a relative term!

ITA about JT back in the day - I can remember him on Welcome Back Kotter!

I'm having a 70"s flash back!:hippie:

Morning! It's going to be a nicer day today. DD's choir concert was very nice. They did songs from different countries and some American songs too. the did a great job on "We're All in This Together" from HSM. They all did the wildcat dance. DD was on the end of the stage and I was afraid she would fall off the stage! (Worry wart I know!) Friday are tryouts for the Ensemble group so I'm taking off early from work to take her.

Jonesing- that is so agravating! You were too kind. I would of asked for my coupons back and left her with all the stuff! At our local Meijers store there is one male cashier who has to read almost every item you put on the counter before he scans it! I don't go in his line even if I have to go into a longer one. And he makes comments about what you are buying! :confused3

I shop everywhere. It doesn't seem like good customer service is a high priority anywhere, anymore. I guess it depends on who you get and what kind of day they are having.

Arlene...I've seen McDs grits in the Carolinas and Georgia. Guess there are too many yanks in Florida for it to count as the south.

I've never said this but I have heard it said that Florida is a suburb of New York City. :confused3

Yes, the 24th....

They are advance selling tickets now at their box office (in person only though)for $9.25 each. (yes that's their regular non-matinee price :( but it's a nice new theatre)

i can get tickets for you and annette if you want. I was going to get mine before this weekend.

Annette is checking her calendar. I am at camp (outside Martinsburg, WV) but that is not far from Frederick. I can make it in just over an hour.

I'll call you tonight! Thanks for the invite. pirate:

Off to work. I have a busy day with a Finance Dept staff meeting, budget prep meeting with my chief accountant and a planning meeting with my office manager.

Oh and I need a new secretary! :sad2: Next week is my current ones last week.

See ya later. :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone for the Birthday Wishes!!! I just won a birthday cake from our local radio station and tomorrow I am headed to Walt Disney World for my Birthday/Mother's Day.....I am so ready to get out of here for a few days. We are meeting up with some friends that we met on the 11nt cruise last September.

I look forward to meeting all of you next year as we spend 15nts together!!!!

Have a great weekend and Happy Mothers Day to all of the moms.

Thanks Again for getting my birthday off to a good start!

Pam

Oh, thanks everyone for DH's birthday wishes. :cake: I didn't even get to talk to him today. Last I heard he was going to be jumping out of a helicopter.

So here is something for a Dis diagnosis: my gland(s) are swollen. Is there more than one on each side? It is just the left side of my neck. It is annoying and kinda hurts, but otherwise I feel fine.

I know, I know, go to a doctor... that is easier said than done. Military health insurance is a lot like being uninsured. You can never get an appointment so you wait until you can't stand it anymore and go to the emergency room to wait for 9 hours because it isn't really an emergency. Your tax dollars at work.

Program note: the Law & Order twist tonight was apparently Christopher Meloni's butt!

OK, for real now - 'night all!!!

My DS Devin has the same thing. Tuesday on the way to the dentist he tells me his neck hurts and it feels like his bone is sticking out. The wonderful mother I am (very easily distracted) forgot to even see what he was talking about until dinner last night. Just the left side swollen and hurt to the touch. Just an hour later 101 fever. Today the gland is smaller but hard like a rock. Says doesnt hurt much now. We have an 11:15am appointment, since he just had strep 2 1/2 weeks ago he needs to be rechecked again!!!! His strep test came back clear last Wednesday.

Mornin' pirate:s
I actually have to go in to work today. Imagine I have to drive all the way there and be busy in order to collect my 1/2 paycheck for these two weeks! Hmmph.

Am I the only woman left in America who paints her own nails?
(Note the cheap/frugal post a few pages back!):)
One of my personal big perks of going from SAHM/grad student to WOHM was that I now splurge on paying someone else to color my hair and wax my eyebrows! Not sure when I would even get to the nail salon, if I was willing to pay for it!

Keep in mind that the man had a receding hairline 30 years ago. I was fascinated by the fact that he still has any hair, let alone the same style he had in 1977.

So the teeny-bopper vote kept Blake in. I'm OK with that. I think the final should be Meinda/Jordin, but if I were a betting wench, I would say Blake/Jordin.

I hope you get it figured out for Devin and it is a quick fix.

Extremely SICK!! Its been in the Daily News the last couple of days. Just goes to show they have no regard for their own children, nevermind any one elses in the world.

Actually, I also paint my own nails - DH claims the place smells like an autobody shop when I do them. I don't get my eyebrows waxed either - still pluck them the old-fashioned way. I do, however, get my hair professionally dyed. I just can't do the whole roots thing and I have tons of grey hair that is very resistant to the dye - my hairstylist seems to be able to take care of these problems so much easier than I can.

Well...

... I think being "cheap"... or rather, "frugal" is a trait to be ADMIRED! My spouse and I count ourselves among those who aspire to the Goddess of "Economic Efficiency". An old pal of mine sometimes would sneer that my attitudes were in danger being "penny wise and pound foolish". And I stubbornly would stick to my guns over what I want = which is often not what the crowd apparently pursues. Now - I do pay more for some things - and I do love a bargain.

And may I add, that there was a book written by Stanley and Danko called the Millionaire Next Door. In brief, it made a case (supported by extensive research) that many folks who HAD millionaire wealth were a fairly humble lot. The majority avoiding the glitzy trappings of "the rich". AND... as it turns out the folks amassing the artifacts of "looking rich" were often not very wealthy after all. Those folks are often "living high" and saving a remarkably small porportion of their cash flow. While folks of more modest means were amassing significant wealth.

I liked reading this book as it seems to support and endorse a general code of FRUGAL conduct which my spouse and I have always pursued. I think it is sadly inefficient to toss hard earned (and saved) money on overpriced goods and services.

I haven't read that book, but I know enough about it to agree with the general premise. We have a nice house, I have a nice car (saved $12,000 by buying 1-year used & we drive them until they die!). I even have nice clothes, I'm just not into labels. I won't buy clothes at WalMart (wait, I don't buy anything at WalMart!), but I'm not terribly impressed with designer labels, although I will pick up the bargain big label jeans at Costco!

It's a matter of personal priorities. I spend money on the things that are important to me. We go on a nice vacation at least once a year, we save a pretty high % for retirement, our kids will be able to go to college without student loans (at least that's the plan so far). We go out to dinner. We go out for a really nice ($$$$) dinner a few times a year, I don't drink cheap wine or beer or coffee (but I make the coffee at home), I don't use a cheap camera, we spend roughly a gabillion dollars on hockey each year, I buy excellent quality kitchen items, because those things are important to us...OK me! Getting my clothes from Nordys isn't important to me.

If I get to be a millionaire someday because of it...cool!!!!!!

(although I'm not holding my breath!)

Hey - quick ? for anyone out there - for traveling in the US - would you all recommend traveling with Passport - or is Driver's License really all I need in the Continental US?

I usually travel to take a cruise and therefore always take the passport - I'm having a FABULOUS weekend at WDW and it just seems weird to only be taking my DL. What would you all do? :sad2:
