I had a day, how about you?

It is a little sad. I told a friend today that my last week or so at work is a bit like being dead. Everywhere I go, people say nice things about me & talk about how they will miss me. It's odd. It is not that I am so great (far from it), I just run a pretty prominent organization, so a big part of my job is to dive into projects that make the community better. In the process I get to work with a lot of people on various levels. There was a surprise 'thing' during the chamber of commerce luncheon today. It was way over the top and embarrassing, but my board of directors and some others did give me a beautiful Alaskan print.

OK, back for ketchup!!

I know how that can be...

... not that I've moved around much - but it's a sort of elusive sensation to wander about and feel that your prescence is ... fleeting all of sudden. Of course, it sounds nice to have not been neglected by Chamber. I enjoy surprises... or more so... I enjoy throwing suprises as ... (snif).... I rarely get surprises thrown for ME.

At any rate.... (snif).... maybe someone can give my spouse a hint one of these days if I EVER get her to post more often (or at all) on the board. That her HUSBAND has not had a proper surprise birthday party or fathers' day thing in a while. A LONG WHILE.... (snif).

Oh well... so much for my "miffed moment"... (snif)...

<chuckles>

We also received this offer in the mail and our bank accounts told us the same thing. :confused3

What do you know, I have that same bank account. :rotfl2: It was real tough though after seeing the AKV demo rooms the other week. They are really nice.

No, I do not need another add-on.
No, I do not need another add-on.
No, I do not need another add-on.

Hi - Just a fast stop - back from the library & dog Park And - the fog is

Rolling in!!!!!! Changing out of shorts before I take Matt to YMCA swim

lessons. I hope this helps lower the temp for you SoCal inland guys!!!

Hi Monica
How're ya doing? Been thinking about you - I'll be up in No. Cal in mid-June - I'll be up there for at least 6 wks. - look forward to seeing you!

This is cute! Why We Love Children:

1) NUDITY

I was driving with my three young children one warm
summer evening when a woman in the convertible
ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark
naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my
5-year-old shout from the back seat, "Mom! That lady
isn't wearing a seat belt!"

2) OPINIONS

On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his
teacher a note from his mother. The note read, "The
opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily
those of his parents."

3) KETCHUP

A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup out of
the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she
asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone.
"Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right
now. She's hitting the bottle."

4) MORE NUDITY

A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself
in the women's locker room. When he was spotted,
the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing
towels and running for cover. The little boy watched
in amazement and then asked, "What's the matter,
haven't you ever seen a little boy before?"

5) POLICE # 1

While taking a routine vandalism report at an
elementary school, I was interrupted by a little
girl about 6 years old. Looking up and down at
my uniform, she asked, "Are you a cop?"
"Yes," I answered and continued writing the report.
"My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask
the police. Is that right?" "Yes, that's right," I told her.
"Well, then," she said as she extended her foot toward
me, "would you please tie my shoe?"

6) POLICE # 2

It was the end of the day when I parked my police van
in front of the station. As I gathered my equipment, my
K-9 partner, Jake, was barking, and I saw a little boy
staring in at me "Is that a dog you got back there?" he
asked. "It sure is," I replied. Puzzled, the boy looked
at me and then towards the back of the van. Finally he
said, "What'd he do?"

7) ELDERLY

While working for an organization that delivers lunches
to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter
on my afternoon rounds She was unfailingly intrigued by
the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes,
walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a
pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for
the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and
whispered, "The tooth fairy will never believe this!"

8) DRESS-UP

A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party.
When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned,
"Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit." "And why not,
darling?" "You know that it always gives you a headache
the next morning. "

9) DEATH

While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church,
our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly
made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and
his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper
burial should be performed, they had secured a small box
and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the
disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to
say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned
his version of what he thought his father always said:
"Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the Sonnn, and into
the hole he goooes."

10) SCHOOL

A little girl had just finished her first week of school.
"I'm just wasting my time," she said to her mother.
"I can't read, I can't write and they won't let me talk!"

11) BIBLE

A little boy opened the big family bible. He was
fascinated as he fingered through the old pages.
Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked
up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an
old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.
"Mama, look what I found," the boy called out.
"What have you got there, dear?" With astonishment in
the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's
underwear."

Woo Hoo! :woohoo: I'll be joining you guys! I looked on our theater's website and they have an 8PM show on May 24th EDT! I'm so geeked!
I thought I would have to wait, because I was leaving Friday morning for VA. Oooh! I'm 3 hours ahead of you guys. pirate:

I have got to find an early showing here in my area. :surfweb:

DW & DS are home!

And yes, DW got her suitcase back! :yay: Of course the fact that ANOTHER airline had it was very puzzling and almost caused her to take off the head of the airline weenie who pretty much insinuated that it was DW's fault that the bag was lost....

BTW Lisa (lbgraves), you had asked if I thought of the possibility that they sold luggage where she was? No worries there...she came back with an extra bag! (Needed to hold the replacement stuff she had to buy) Actually, the bag was ours! Remember when I said I have a luggage fetish? Well in my never ending quest for the perfect mix of luggage (carry-on, pullman, garment bag, duffels etc) we have amassed enough luggage that we can loan pieces out to friends and not worry if they don't come back! :sad2: Evidently we have luggage in every city where we have close friends/family.

It's 11:00 pm here in the UK and I have to go up the attic before I go to bed so Goodnight everyone !!

David

That's almost like receiving a gift, or a free cruise.....(that's my "creative financing" at work!)........good for you! :thumbsup2

Are you going to introduce us to the lucky family moving in to your room? Notice I didn't say "replacing you", because no one could!!

They have already introduced themselves on this thread a few pages back. I think Season posted last evening.

And in honor of your achievement ....

let me present you with this symbolic 5000 Kronar note!

Don't spend it all in one place!

My daughter and son in law got the new cards and they've only cruised DCL once, for their wedding. We who have cruised far too many times did not.:confused3

We got our new CC cards in the mail today, my mom got hers yesterday......:)

yes, andy...i finally read back through and i see you are no longer going on our toal! i hope you have lots of fun on your november cruise! you will be missed next year!
but how did that work that you were able to let someone else have your rooom? we currently have 3 rooms booked from jan 31, and i'm thinking we may be able to drop one of the rooms. i have a family here that is somewhat interested in going, but figured there is no way to get a room now.

My TA is taking care of all of this, I just gave her the OK to try and change it from my family to the other family, not sure about all the ins and outs of the transaction, as I think it is still not completely finished. :confused3

Reminds me of a (not so) funny story. My friend is a bank manager. She had an older gentleman customer who passed away. A couple of weeks after he died, his widow came into the bank with their credit card statement. She was certain someone had stolen the card. There were several charges on there to The Candy Store, and her husband was a diabetic, so there was "no way" in her mind that he would have made charges there.
My friend didn't have the heart to tell her that The Candy Store is a strip joint, so she just reversed the charges!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Oh my, sorry, but I had to chuckle about that one........

Hi - Just a fast stop - back from the library & dog Park And - the fog is

Rolling in!!!!!! Changing out of shorts before I take Matt to YMCA swim

This sounds like some of my day remaining...

... library, Dog Park and some other sundry things = which mean I gotta run any minute now. The slide components might be dry enough to put together later today. Or not. And the walls are beginning to go up now on the castle facade. At least if NOT... then tomorrow they ought to be dry enough. SO = by tomorrow the front tower and slide will be framed out and assembled. Then the final touches should be the facade panels on the towers (two now - one supporting the slide and another shallower one up front) and side. The front one is drying now and might be OK to put up today. I found out that the styrofoam MELTS with the spray paint! However the sheathing does NOT melt. So the center of the panels is fine but the edges has a funky erosion to it. Not too sure if it will all be OK yet. IF not - then I may have to get a plastic safe primer - the Do It Center guy mentioned it - but I thought I'd try going it without it.

OK... I'm gonna slip away fer a bit now...

TTFN!

Unforunately not as Helen loves lobster and where we live is famous for crab which she also likes.

David

DW loves crabs! er, make that, she loves picking crabs, she doesn't like eating them.

Picking crabs, you ask? Well when she was a girl they would go down to the beach (New Jersey has a the shore, Delaware has the beach) and they would catch a bunch of crabs, toss them on the ice to stun them and in one of the more barbaric I've heard of, chuck them into the pot of boiling water! OR, depending on tastes, pull open the top shell, dump some Old Bay seasoning inside and then boil the hapless thing! :sad2:

She and DSIL would then happily pick the meat from the cooked crabs for hours!

We got our new CC cards in the mail today, my mom got hers yesterday......:)

Still nothing here:sad1:. They'll probably show up next week while I'm away, DH or DS will tell me and then I'll have to wait until the 22nd to see them!
