Hi all. Just spent quite a few hours in the emergency room with DH. It appears he may have suffered a minor stroke. They are keeping him over night for observation & plan on running some more tests on him tomorrow. His symptoms were minor & only lasted for a short time, so there is no permanent damage & they feel that this was more of a wake up call to change his lifestyle. The plan is that he will be released & sent home with a regimen of medication. We were suppose to leave first thing Saturday morning for Hilton Head, but now I'm not sure I want him taking that long drive. Guess I will wait to see what happens tomorrow. Doubt I'll sleep much tonight.

You know I can sort of see snow in places like Colorado and Alaska at this time of year but it is just stinking freaky to keep hearing them say the word SN*W here in Baltimore! Again with this word!

Well it wasn't quite as bad as they predicted--not that it matters since I stayed home anyway But now they are running banners on TV about tuning to the 6pm news because more wind and sn*w are on the way tonight!

Hey we made national news! We were just featured on FOXNews but of course that was only a precursor because they were more instersted in reporting how our weather front is heading for the Northeast and may affect the Boston Marathon...

Diane ***** Hope DH is on his way home with you by now. My DH had a major heart attack at 41. He died and was brought back by a miracle. At this time he gave up smoking, exercised, stopped eating all red meat and a very, very, low fat diet. He had a "5" by-pass at 45. He still was very strict with all good habits and had to have a "4" by-pass at 58. It is all in genetics. Doctor said if he did not change his life style he would have never made it through the heart surgery at 58. He is now 60. Doctor said he should be good for at least another 15 years. I do know the shock you must be going through. If you need any hints about low fat diets, I have lots. I wish I would practice what I preach in my own lifestyle. I did quit smoking at age 41 when DH did!!!

Just received a call from our friend that is in Hawaii, she had to rub it in that it is 75* and was getting ready to have her morning cup of Kona coffee while watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.....................

It's a whopping 45* here today........................

I just talked to a friend in Florida who was commenting how lovely the temperatures were in Jacksonville today.

It is 44, windy and grey here.

i'm making a list of everyone's comments so i can call the owner of the hair salon. i get myself so tongue tied, and i really don't want to sound like an idiot when i confront her. they have my phone number, and i really can't believe that they never called us today to check in on my ds! ugh!! it broke my heart cuz at lunch time today, my ds was talking to a friend, and he was going on and on about the rotten dog. first he got all serious, and he said..."you gotta see this dog spencer...first he is a black dog...a really really black dog. but then, he'll jump on you, and first he bite you on your face, and your nose...and then your ears...and he likes to scratch too."
oh...it broke my heart!! the poor kid! so i really do thank you all for your comments, cuz when it comes to things like this, i get all tongue tied!

The Dis Board skipped a multi-post to you. Just talk from the heart!!!! Tell the owner how it really upset your son mentally not to mention DS could have been really hurt physically. I also think the attack should be reported!!!! I know you would not want some other child going through the trauma your DS is having.

That is just my thoughts.

Firs of all, glad DS is okay. Hopefully this won't make him permanently fearful of dogs. Call your local animal control and report the incident so you have an official record. Also call the licensing department for beauty salons and ask if animals are permitted on the premesis. We lived in ABQ and there were lots of dog-friendly businesses--shopping centers, dept stores, home centers etc.--Home Depot lost some business when they decided to institute a "no dogs allowed" policy. Lowe's put up a sign saying "Yes, Fido is welcome" Absolutely demand that the dog & salon owners provide vet & vaccination records for the dog. If they can't then strongly suggest that the dog be taken to a vet THAT DAY for medical checkup under pain of further civil/criminal action!

We have two miniature dachshunds and they are as lovable as can be. Oliver looks a lot like this guy a lovable dorky ball of fur : Well he and DS1 were sitting around and Ollie had had enough of DS messing with him. So he growled a bit. DS kept it up. Ollie moved. DS followed. Ollie gave one last shot accross the bow and growled again. DS didn't heed the warning. Ollie barked, turned his head and nipped DS! No blood or anything but it scared DS silly Actually, I think it was just that Ollie's mouth was open when he barked and a tooth caught DS' face. They didn't speak to each other for 3 days. But now they are back to being BFF!

Oy!! It wasn't that bad out and I thought about going in but now it's sn*wing and blowing pretty bad out there! Let me tell you the FedEx guy WAS NOT happy about having to make our delivery!

don't mean to be intrusive, but if he is on high b/p meds, may
have caused the s/s ? * iam no doctor..but i work in the medical field,
& i believe looking at the most simple causes, have the best rates for
sucessful problem solving.


and special to mr.v & his wife for "good news". [ something
minor and easy to take care of..]
