After doing some research, I just found out this is possible for us to do!!!

I also found out even better news: an increase in the retirement age for "new hires" from 55 to 60, so it appears as I am grandfathered in and can still retire at 55 if that is my choice!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Good news - not changing age for you and may move pension funding to Constitution so they can't play games with it.

Bad news - contract approved today may cause you to pay .5 % more in pension and 1.5% more in health benefits.

If you want to see how scary it is to be part of NJ's pension system....

Thanks for sharing this info Tom, some of this I read already, some of the info is new. I don't mind paying the increases as long as I can still retire after reaching age 55, that was my main concern. ;)

Hi Eveyone -
We're back from San Diego Zoo & Wild Anima Park - both venues are AWESOME!!! and huge!! The kids want to plan another trip to visit again. So do I. AT WAP there was a 4 week baby elephant and one 6 months old. I took some pics but am still learning how to use the camera - I've got to install the software to upload them to the computer.

Tomorrow we're going back to DL/CA for the last day of spring break.

Cheers - Chris

Chris--sounds like you are having a great time!!! :thumbsup2

Since I woke up at 4am today(middle of the night according to Tom), I am signing off for the night, I'll see y'all tomorrow morning...............

Night all - see you at chat tomorrow night! 9pm - be there or be square!

No, we aren't unionized in our township.

Our contract with the township is at least 20 years of service AND attain the age of 55, then we will be able to have our medical benefits taken care of for life after retirement. The pension goes through the State of New Jersey. I remember many years ago an early retirement was offered to those 50 and over, but I haven't seen that happen since. If it was offered within the next year or two(I'm not holding my breath, lol), I would probably take it too................;)

Our retirement system isn't thru the state. (Which is probably a good thing, the way the state of MI is!) My boss just turned 40 and said she would take a deal! My friend at work aksed what would I do if I went early, I'd be too young to quit working. I told her if I had health care covered I could try something different!

Thanks Cheryl, that's also what I was telling Hazel this morning, I think that's why the doc is not overly concerned, besides, all of Hazel's bloodwork came back normal!!! :thumbsup2

My thoughts are with Hazel. Tell her not to sweat it, although that is easier said than done.

Stace my favorite scary movie is Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" still scares me!:scared1: When ever I see a lot of birds on a power line I think of the last scene in the movie. Gives me chills!

Well I'm going to turn in. Birthday party nice but long and loud!
Good Night.

Hi all. Just spent quite a few hours in the emergency room with DH. It appears he may have suffered a minor stroke. :sad1: They are keeping him over night for observation & plan on running some more tests on him tomorrow. His symptoms were minor & only lasted for a short time, so there is no permanent damage & they feel that this was more of a wake up call to change his lifestyle. The plan is that he will be released & sent home with a regimen of medication. We were suppose to leave first thing Saturday morning for Hilton Head, but now I'm not sure I want him taking that long drive. Guess I will wait to see what happens tomorrow. Doubt I'll sleep much tonight. :guilty:

Oh Diane, I'm so sorry you and DH are going through this. It sounds like you have good news so far though. You are in my prayers.

And remember...middle of the night for you is mid evening for many of us. Log on if you want to chat, I'm sure someone will be around.

Ok, if Listerine is supposed to kill 99% of germs, then how can it be contaminated with micro-organisms?

Or is this just the very definition of 'ironic'?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Speaking of irony... it took me 3 1/2 hours to apply for a job using an online system called "QuickHire"
