Hi :wave2:

I really should be in bed right now. I have to be at work in less than 7 hours, and have a meeting I've been dreading tomorrow. Plus my performance review. :scared1:

Nite

I hope everyone has a very Happy Friday the 13th!!! (13 my favorite number :) )

Here's some pixiedust: for your meeting and performance review! Just sat in on a grievance and it took the union guy 1/2 to understand what the grievance was about!:scared1: :scared1: I'm in that union!:lmao: :lmao:

I've got to get out the door and get to work. Hazel is doing OK this morning Karen!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

ST and the cast from Brigadoon will be visiting our 4 elementary schools and the middle school today, she is so excited about this!!! Then on Tuesday, during the day, the cast is giving a free show to the senior citizens of our town. Next weekend is three shows for the public!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

OK, I'm outta here............

Hope Hazel is doing well. Having had UC for 16 years now, I don't get really freaked when I see things. If it was something serious her Dr. would have her in right away. It's great her bloodwork came back OK.

Tell Angelina to "break a leg!" DD's choir did a school tour of all the elementary schools at Christmas. They will do their spring tour next month. I know the grade school kids love it!:yay:

Stace my favorite scary movie is Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" still scares me!:scared1: When ever I see a lot of birds on a power line I think of the last scene in the movie. Gives me chills!

That one pretty much ties for first with What Ever Happened to Baby Jane. I had a tough time choosing between the two!
And the same thing happens to me, when I see a lot of birds on the lines.:scared:

I chased a black cat under a ladder with a broken mirror this morning. Do you think that was a bad idea?

I heard today on the radio that in H*** MI they are having their annual Friday 13th party. There is one place where you can walk under ladders, and break mirrors! I wonder if they serve Devil's Juice? :drinking1 :coffee:
Oh yeah and serve Devil's Food:cake:

I'm not triskaideakaphobic!

Hi all. Just spent quite a few hours in the emergency room with DH. It appears he may have suffered a minor stroke. :sad1: They are keeping him over night for observation & plan on running some more tests on him tomorrow. His symptoms were minor & only lasted for a short time, so there is no permanent damage & they feel that this was more of a wake up call to change his lifestyle. The plan is that he will be released & sent home with a regimen of medication. We were suppose to leave first thing Saturday morning for Hilton Head, but now I'm not sure I want him taking that long drive. Guess I will wait to see what happens tomorrow. Doubt I'll sleep much tonight. :guilty:

Oh dear!! I'm so sorry. Thank goodness it was more of a "wake up call". I know you'll get him on the right track!!

When I see a lot of birds on the trees etc, I flash back to the bird scene in Mel Brooks High Anxiety. That'll get you over it:rotfl2:

So nuts that you end up putting so much work into it, make it so nice, then don't get to live there....

We had the same thought when we sold our old house. We ended up doing so much of the stuff to make the place look nice that we wished we had done during the years we lived there. All the time and effort and we just know the first thing the new people did was probably re-paint all the rooms!

Hello! :surfweb:

Hope you're all doing well. It's way too cold here and the stinkin' Nor'easter is due to hit tomorrow into Sunday with s**w. :headache:

Diane - first and foremost, :grouphug: and :pixiedust: for you and your entire family! Regarding the vacation, maybe you can give DVC a call and explain the situtation to them. Yeah, blah blah blah insurance, but you've got nothing to lose by calling. If you do decide to make the trip, perhaps you can take a peek into what medical facilities are available to you in HH. The meds can be tricky. My MiL who lives with us has had several strokes, both major and mini, and it took a while for her to get used to her meds, but she's 86. Just spend some time w/the pharmacist about possible reactions and things to look for. Keeping you and DH in my prayers!!! :flower3:

wanting opinions here...
my ds's went to get a haircut tonite. it's only the 2nd time we've been to this salon. i really like the lady that cuts their hair. my problem is with the owner of the salon. the first time we went in...there was a dog in there. i don't have a problem with dogs...i have one of my own. i didn't really like the fact that the dog had free roam thru the salon...but he seemed friendly enough. he just kept jumping on my kids..and trying to lick them in the face. it all went ok, and my youngest loved petting the dog while the oldest was getting trimmed. so, tonite, we go for a trim, and as soon as we walk in...the dog is jumping on my 4yr old. i told the dog down, and then the owner called him to her. we sat a few mins waiting our turn. then my oldest gets in the chair. i was sitting on their little bench watching my youngest pet the dog...who was jumping all over. then the dog stopped jumping, and nick started petting him. nick squatted down to sit by the dog, and all of a sudden, the dog freaked out...and was trying to bite nick in the face!!! he started growling, and attacked my baby! nick tried to turn away and shield his face, and then the dog grabbed ahold of his arm. now...this wasn't a huge dog, thank goodness! but it was a decent sized one...so it has my ds freaking out now! thank goodness the dog never drew any blood. there was a scratch on the side of his head near his ear where teh dog got him, and his arm has an indent where the dog sank teeth in, but didn't draw blood. i freaked out, and started yelling at the dog, but i couldn't get right to nick, cuz there was a railing in between us. i reached thru adn shoved the dog away...but i couldn't get a good hold on him. i ran to get my ds, and he was ok ....just very startled. the weird thing is...there was nothing there to make the dog territorial...no food, no toys...nothing! and i know that nick didn't hurt the dog...i was watching the whole time. the only thing i think he did to provoke would be to squat down to pet the dog. the thing that makes me mad is that the lady did yell at the dog...but that was it. she made sure that nick was ok..but she never caged the dog, or put it in another room or anything....she just simply yelled at it! i was a little miffed over that, and i still am! now i'm torn over what to do...i like the lady that we use, but not this salon. i'm not sure if there is any recourse...we didn't have to go to the hospital, or anything...but my ds is now acting a little skittish of our dog too. it really freaked him out, and i gotta say it freaked me out too to watch a dog attack my little guy. i think if he had done something to provoke him...it would be easier to explain...but i have no explanation for it! i kinda want to call the lady back, but i get all tongue tied...and i don't want to sound like an idiot for not saying anything tonite. i just was really startled by the whole thing! do you think it's worth a call back tomorrow? i'm not sure what to say? it was really scary...and i want her to know that i'm thinking of not using the salon cuz of this dog...but i'm not sure if i should rehash it or not?
guess this got really long...sorry...i think i just really needed to vent! thanks for listening!
:grouphug: How frightening!!! IMHO, you definitely need to report the incident to the proper authorities. And might I suggest that you walk it one step further and ask to see that the dog has been properly vaccinated as well? Regardless of whether it required a trip to the ER or not, being attacked by a dog in a place of business is completely unacceptable. Explain to your hairdresser (who is not the owner, correct?) how you feel about returning to the shop and maybe she can make other arrangements for you. My DD was nipped in the face by a little dog that belonged to my dear friend's father. Although there weren't punctures from the bite, there were scratches. Her dad within hours had the vaccination records on my doorstep, not to mention goodies for my bitten child. She was fine, just really freaked out. It took a couple of weeks for it to pass but she bounced back well. It will definitely help your DS move forward having a dog at home. Sending some prayers and :pixiedust: your way!

Yes Shannon I'm here
Hi Stefania!!! Welcome to one of the friendliest group of folks I have ever seen!!! Your kids are adorable!!! How old are they? My DD will be 9 for the TOAL. Just jump right in and join the fun!!! :flower3:

M - what incredibly beautiful pictures of your trip! Looking forward to the link to see more!

wheelerkidz3:
You are 100% right in the way you feel. I would not take my kids back there but more important I would want to do something to prevent it from happening to someone else.

Now on the other side and please no flames, my suit is packed. I know size does not matter. A small dog could do the same thing, you just never know.

I have a maltese that I consider my third child. Dante goes most everywhere with me. I do know for a fact it is against health codes to bring a animal into a health facilty.

I always ask first if he can come with me. Just the other day my DD had her checkup for her braces. I had never brought Dante before but always talked about him and showed pictures. I was asked to bring Dante in.

I bring his small carrier with me and he sits on my lap. People take turns holding him and I was asked to bring him in for Brooke's next appointment.

I would never FORCE my dog on anyone and I can tell you now if Dante ever did anything to anyone Dante's trips would be no more.

I also know for a fact that once a dog bites, he is supposed to be contained for 10 days. I would call dog control and make a report. Just my opinion and hope it helps.

Well said and it sounds like you did the right thing by exerting control over your dog and helping him feel comfortable by being with you.

When we visited FIL a few weeks ago, they have two very large, very friendly dogs. One is so old, all he does is lie around and sleep. But we were very worried about DD5 who would go up to the dogs to pet them or hug them. These dogs have never attacked anyone (and don't even bark much). But you never know how an animal will react to a stranger, particularly when it is a child whose actions can be unpredictable.

I thought I would share before I play ketchup now. I hope I am not interrupting.:goodvibes

Someone out there either has too much
spare time or is deadly at Scrabble.

Good Morning All :wave2:
Just checking in for a few. Our plans changed for this weekend. Instead of driving to Chicago we will be working on the house non-stop and I will be putting it on the market next week. I am still painting and I think it will never end.

I am going to Jacksonville in May with DH for business. The day before my moving sale I have a diser coming to visit me.:goodvibes We are still set to move end of June.

I hope once everything is done and settled I can start visiting the boards on a regular basis.

I miss everyone.:sad1: :surfweb:

We miss you too Tina......................:sad1:

Happy Birthday Peter!!!

Mornin' pirate:s Happy Friday!

What a beautiful view and pic M!!! :thumbsup2

Won't be seeing sites like that in DC.............

SNARFLE

Good thing they didn't make you use the "LengthyHire" process. That one takes 3-1/2 years. :rotfl:

Yeah, then I could give 2 weeks notice on my first day because we will be moving again.

I chased a black cat under a ladder with a broken mirror this morning. Do you think that was a bad idea?

Not if you are wearing your lucky underwear.

Wow, you really are in good shape for a triathalon, aren't you. ;) ;) ;)

(You don't have to tell anyone this isn't you).

It is amazing what a quick hula lesson and a coconut bra will do, isn't it?

Great plan except you will all eventually meet me some day. Boy would that be a disappointment.

BTW I KNEW some swabby would re-post that photo!

Have your put your resume on Monster.com? Lots of companies actually use them in the Metro DC area.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been cruising Monster, but I haven't posted my resume. I want to stay in non-profits, so it limits my search a bit. And for some reason all those boards lump marketing with sales & I have no interest in sales.

55 degrees? It hasn't been 55 here since January...

You get no sympathy from me. It was -20 in January. We had at least a week when it didn't get above 5.

How very accurate for about 3:00 a.m. EDT

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I actually lapped him one night! He was making his morning post as I was signing off.

M, those pictures are GORGEOUS!!!! So jealous! Maybe we will get to see it all in person one day. :goodvibes

Thanks!

Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome. I was very nervous to get on. See Shannon was right everyone is very friendly. Thanks again!!!!

welcome: :welcome: party: :welcome: :welcome:

Just jump right in. Glad you are joining us!!! Wh have a live chat tonight. You can just listen in or chat. Just click on chat and we are usually in room 2 after 9 pm. EDT.

I'm just about done editing my Hawaii vacation photos & since I'm here by myself, I thought I'd share a few.

I'm going to upload all of them at work tomorrow (free connection & unlimited bandwidth - important since I have HUGE photos...have I mentioned that I love my camera? :) )

ANYWAY... it won't hurt my feelings if you don't trek to photobucket to look at all my photos when I post the link tomorrow, but I have a few smallish versions that I would like to share.

Congrats on #400 Post

It is a big deal!!!! We are all FAMILY!!!:cool1:

Just received a call from our friend that is in Hawaii, she had to rub it in that it is 75* and was getting ready to have her morning cup of Kona coffee while watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.....................:upsidedow

It's a whopping 45* here today........................:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sorry to hear this Diane! Glad DH won't have any lasting affects. My DGM had one a while back and she was spry as ever. Of course her other very severe health issues (diabetes, hypertension, heart disease etc) didn't help matters. :sad2: But if DH is otherwise healthy, he should be fine if he sticks to his meds and follows the dr instructions. Did you ask about the drive to Hilton Head? I don't see why you couldn't go ahead with it.
