Diane, I will keep you & your DH in my prayers. Please remember to take care of yourself as well as him. Thank you for letting us know. Check in when you can.

Thanks Lisa! I will definitely update you all tomorrow.

Diane about 16 years ago on the eve of a trip to Florida John went into anaphaytic shock (sp) and nearly died before the ambulance got to our house. Turns out he developed a sudden allergy to aspirin out of the blue. Anyway, they kept him overnight for observation after giving him epinefrin (sp). He took a cab home from the hospital, packed our luggage in the car and drove us to the airport (Taryn was 1). It was a really stressful trip. At the time we didn't know what he was allergic too (that came after with testing) but I don't think I slept a wink the whole week...I just stared at John waiting for something to happen to him. So I can REALLY appreciate your dilemma and I wish you luck in the decision. But Mike sounds like John and I could NOT talk him out of the trip

As far as the points, did you buy the insurance? Could you still buy the insurance? Maybe you can speak to DVC. Sometimes you hit a decent person over there. They helped me out once when I forgot to bank my points. Also, maybe you could rent them on the Rental Board on the DIS. Or best of all, maybe the Drs. with say go and have fun!!

Yep they sound alike! ;) Glad your DH was okay! As far as insurance goes. Nope DH will never buy insurance. He always says that we are going come hell or high water so who needs insurance. :sad2: Anyway, if we really don't go, I will try calling DVC or maybe see if one of our family members in Florida feel like driving up & using the villa. Thanks for the advice!

BTW, I found that show I happened to watch on Discovery Health. It was on at 10:30, but I missed it. I think I will catch the 1:30 show. She does have 2 cookbooks out, but not with the decadent recipes from her show. I'm sure it will be coming out soon. ;)

(30 minutes) Healthy Decadence with Devin Alexander
Ultimate Comfort Food
TV-G, CC

We all have comfort foods and Devin recreates some favorites. Just because it's hearty doesn't mean it can't be healthy. Devin cooks a Muscle-Packing Meatloaf, a Bacon and Chive Mashed Potato Gratin, and a Red Velvet Layer Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

The local news has a story about Cartegena on NOW!!!! They have some gold on display in a museum. I will have to try to find out more information. It sounds like something was recently found.

This sounds interesting Lisa! I wonder what they found?

Hi Eveyone -
We're back from San Diego Zoo & Wild Anima Park - both venues are AWESOME!!! and huge!! The kids want to plan another trip to visit again. So do I. AT WAP there was a 4 week baby elephant and one 6 months old. I took some pics but am still learning how to use the camera - I've got to install the software to upload them to the computer.

Tomorrow we're going back to DL/CA for the last day of spring break.

Cheers - Chris

Glad your having a great time.:thumbsup2 Can I be just a little jealous???:confused3

Time for another round
(whether you like it or not)
of 7 questions!
for Friday the 13th
<cheers!!!! or... Groans!!!!>

#1 - Are you (or your spouse/kids) superstitious of some things?? I don't think so. I do things in an exact order but that is more my idiosyncratic nature

#2 - Do you watch any scary movies to mark the friday the 13th and Halloween occasions? No. The only thing close are the '50s & '60s monster movies

#3 - Do you think twice when or if walking under ladders, spilling salt, stepping on cracks or if you break a mirror? I do think about but not twice

#4 - what is the first thing you can recall which you would call is something you have superstitious feelings about (other than what I mentioned in question 3?) A few cases of Deja Vu

#5 - So - for friday the 13th tomorrow are YOU doing anything special? Anything at all - superstitious oriented or not... does not matter. Going to camp for a weekend retreat ... really frightening

#6 - Do you gamble at all? If so ... what are your favorite games? I think about buying a "Winning" Lottery ticket.

#7 - And ... here's a new twist... what would YOU have posted as a Friday the 13th question IF you were drafting a 7 question query for chuckles? And - if you wish.... feel free to answer the one of the other posted responses to this question 7 as a "bonus" 8th question.... Have you ever used a Wigi Board?

Hi all. Just spent quite a few hours in the emergency room with DH. It appears he may have suffered a minor stroke. :sad1: They are keeping him over night for observation & plan on running some more tests on him tomorrow. His symptoms were minor & only lasted for a short time, so there is no permanent damage & they feel that this was more of a wake up call to change his lifestyle. The plan is that he will be released & sent home with a regimen of medication. We were suppose to leave first thing Saturday morning for Hilton Head, but now I'm not sure I want him taking that long drive. Guess I will wait to see what happens tomorrow. Doubt I'll sleep much tonight. :guilty:

Oh Diane, Our prayers and thoughts are with you both. Please keep us informed of his progress.:flower3:

Hey, no problem Stacey, it's just been a bad week and I needed to do a little venting, that's all..............;)

Hazel also received a call from one of her docs yesterday and he wants her to come in and see him about one of the tests results that came back in the other day. Seems blood was found in her stool sample she had taken just before we left for vacation. He doesn't think it is anything serious, but the unkown is always a bit scary. She sees the doc on April 25th.

 for you and Hazel Andy. My Niece has ulcerative colitis and usually always has blood in her stool sample. I am sure that's why the Dr. isn't overly concerned given the recent flare up of Hazel's IBS. I will say a prayer for her when I saying a prayer for Mike.

Good Night Friends.............

I bought my DW a new piece of software for scrapbooking. It's called Kaleidoscope Kreator. Here's one of her "kreations":

I used to love when the kids were napping. The house would be so peaceful. To bad I never got anything done. Just made me very lazy.:lmao:

If I had had a computer back then, things would never have gotten done.:lmao:

naptime went way too long today...which was a good and a bad thing! i get a little bored when they sleep too long! LOL!!!
Hi Shannon, what part of NYS are you from?

Karen

wanting opinions here...
my ds's went to get a haircut tonite. it's only the 2nd time we've been to this salon. i really like the lady that cuts their hair. my problem is with the owner of the salon. the first time we went in...there was a dog in there. i don't have a problem with dogs...i have one of my own. i didn't really like the fact that the dog had free roam thru the salon...but he seemed friendly enough. he just kept jumping on my kids..and trying to lick them in the face. it all went ok, and my youngest loved petting the dog while the oldest was getting trimmed. so, tonite, we go for a trim, and as soon as we walk in...the dog is jumping on my 4yr old. i told the dog down, and then the owner called him to her. we sat a few mins waiting our turn. then my oldest gets in the chair. i was sitting on their little bench watching my youngest pet the dog...who was jumping all over. then the dog stopped jumping, and nick started petting him. nick squatted down to sit by the dog, and all of a sudden, the dog freaked out...and was trying to bite nick in the face!!! he started growling, and attacked my baby! nick tried to turn away and shield his face, and then the dog grabbed ahold of his arm. now...this wasn't a huge dog, thank goodness! but it was a decent sized one...so it has my ds freaking out now! thank goodness the dog never drew any blood. there was a scratch on the side of his head near his ear where teh dog got him, and his arm has an indent where the dog sank teeth in, but didn't draw blood. i freaked out, and started yelling at the dog, but i couldn't get right to nick, cuz there was a railing in between us. i reached thru adn shoved the dog away...but i couldn't get a good hold on him. i ran to get my ds, and he was ok ....just very startled. the weird thing is...there was nothing there to make the dog territorial...no food, no toys...nothing! and i know that nick didn't hurt the dog...i was watching the whole time. the only thing i think he did to provoke would be to squat down to pet the dog. the thing that makes me mad is that the lady did yell at the dog...but that was it. she made sure that nick was ok..but she never caged the dog, or put it in another room or anything....she just simply yelled at it! i was a little miffed over that, and i still am! now i'm torn over what to do...i like the lady that we use, but not this salon. i'm not sure if there is any recourse...we didn't have to go to the hospital, or anything...but my ds is now acting a little skittish of our dog too. it really freaked him out, and i gotta say it freaked me out too to watch a dog attack my little guy. i think if he had done something to provoke him...it would be easier to explain...but i have no explanation for it! i kinda want to call the lady back, but i get all tongue tied...and i don't want to sound like an idiot for not saying anything tonite. i just was really startled by the whole thing! do you think it's worth a call back tomorrow? i'm not sure what to say? it was really scary...and i want her to know that i'm thinking of not using the salon cuz of this dog...but i'm not sure if i should rehash it or not?
guess this got really long...sorry...i think i just really needed to vent! thanks for listening!

wow!! tonite...i talk to myself!! where is everyone tonite? hello?

oh...it is almost 1:30 on the east coast...so maybe everyone is sleeping?

i know of one person who may be here...cuz she is a new lurker that i have hooked on the boards...and i think soon she'll have the courage to post....

you know who you are!!!

she will be cruising with us, and i'm trying to get her to join the thread....

come out come out wherever you are!!!!

Shannon, don't feel ashamed. You need to report that dog to the authorities. I also don't think that a dog is supposed to be in a salon. You may want to call the board of health on that one. I remember once my hairdresser telling me about all the things they had to be aware of or they would get a summons. I had a Golden Retreiver that we had to give away as he attacked my DD for no reason at all. 20 stitches in the forearm and her sweatshirt had holes across her stomach which when I think of all the damage that dog could've done still gives me the shivers.

Diane, please be strong and make sure you follow the Drs. instructions. I really don't think a long car ride would be a good idea. Some of those meds can make you drowsy and lightheaded in the beginning. Talk it over with the Drs. and don't worry about the family being disappointed by not going. He probably want to do the same thing every Male does and be the Martyr, suck it in and get into the car. Use your better judgement as he is probably in the stages of denial anyway.

Thanks Chris I appreciate it. We both have family histories of stroke & heart disease & yet we've been very bad about eating right & exercising. That is all about to change drastically. My kids are way too young to be losing their parents at this point. I saw a show the other night on Discovery Health about cooking low fat low cal foods that are delicious. It was called Decadent something. I'm going to search & see if she has a cook book. The food looked yummy! She had great advice about fast food, fad dieting, skipping meals, etc. & how it all affects your metabolism. DH & I need to start taking that advice & doing something about our life! :thumbsup2

I LOVE Cooking Light - magazine, books, website.
Real food, just prepared in a more healthy way.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That's true Judy.....but Headless chickens drink no ales either ;)

Oh good, more for us.

Yes Shannon I'm here

:welcome:

that is what i keep envisioning...the what could have been! i hate it...adn i think that is partially why i'm still up this late...i don't want to see any visions in my sleep!

You know I can sort of see snow in places like Colorado and Alaska at this time of year but it is just stinking freaky to keep hearing them say the word SN*W here in Baltimore! Again with this word!

Report from the great muddy North: 55 degrees and the sun is just going down.

This was about 100 yards from my house 20 minutes ago:
