Hi all. Just spent quite a few hours in the emergency room with DH. It appears he may have suffered a minor stroke. :sad1: They are keeping him over night for observation & plan on running some more tests on him tomorrow. His symptoms were minor & only lasted for a short time, so there is no permanent damage & they feel that this was more of a wake up call to change his lifestyle. The plan is that he will be released & sent home with a regimen of medication. We were suppose to leave first thing Saturday morning for Hilton Head, but now I'm not sure I want him taking that long drive. Guess I will wait to see what happens tomorrow. Doubt I'll sleep much tonight. :guilty:

Diane,
Prayers are with you - "minor" is a good term!! My DFather ignored an early wake-up call and we lost him way too early. Take care of yourself too please!

  Chris

Sorry to hear this Many Many Many :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Oh Diane, I'm so sorry you and DH are going through this. It sounds like you have good news so far though. You are in my prayers.

And remember...middle of the night for you is mid evening for many of us. Log on if you want to chat, I'm sure someone will be around.

Oh my gosh Diane, how scary for you!! Lots of prayers and  coming your way!!

Thank you guys so much! Really it is nice to read good wishes from you all & I truly appreciate it. It is relatively good news so I am hopeful. Keeping good thougts & you guys have helped! :grouphug:

Thanks Chris I appreciate it. We both have family histories of stroke & heart disease & yet we've been very bad about eating right & exercising. That is all about to change drastically. My kids are way too young to be losing their parents at this point. I saw a show the other night on Discovery Health about cooking low fat low cal foods that are delicious. It was called Decadent something. I'm going to search & see if she has a cook book. The food looked yummy! She had great advice about fast food, fad dieting, skipping meals, etc. & how it all affects your metabolism. DH & I need to start taking that advice & doing something about our life! :thumbsup2

Diane   so sorry your DH and you and your kids! My Sister had a minor stroke in her early thirties about 5 years ago and TG she is fine with no after effects at all. I am sure it will be the same with Mike but improving our health is always a good idea. Anything I can do for you (even though I'm afar), please holler

Hello Everyone!! Happy Thursday!! I was running around tonight like a chicken without a head.....doin' what you may ask.....alot of nuttin'!

Diane--

My prayers and love. I know you are worried about your trip with your DH health. Any way it could be delayed? We would probably encourage patients not to drive for awhile. If another such event occurs while he is driving it is putting yourself and others in danger. Another thought too would be, the healthcare available where you will be staying or even along the way. Does he have further testing? Most importantly as well, will you be wanting to be away from your physician when being introduced to new medications that may need to be adjusted. My guess is that you will be encouraged to not travel. HUGS sweetie. We love you!!!

PS.....I did not mean to be a downer......I am so sorry....please take care.

Diane, I will keep you & your DH in my prayers. Please remember to take care of yourself as well as him. Thank you for letting us know. Check in when you can.

WTH?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

The friggin' weathergoon was just on TV and they are forecasting potential BLIZZARD conditions starting tomorrow night!!!! :scared1: They are calling for 9"-18" of SNOW but since we live right next to the Palmer Divide we'll get the worst of the fronts from the north and south!:sad2:

Well, at least I'll get the day off ;)

You know I can sort of see snow in places like Colorado and Alaska at this time of year but it is just stinking freaky to keep hearing them say the word SN*W here in Baltimore! Again with this word!

The local news has a story about Cartegena on NOW!!!! They have some gold on display in a museum. I will have to try to find out more information. It sounds like something was recently found.

#1 - Are you (or your spouse/kids) superstitious of some things?? Not really, but I carry a St. Christopher’s metal around my grandmother gave me when I was a kid. And I’m not Catholic!

#2 - Do you watch any scary movies to mark the friday the 13th and Halloween occasions? No

#3 - Do you think twice when or if walking under ladders, spilling salt, stepping on cracks or if you break a mirror? Not really.

#4 - what is the first thing you can recall which you would call is something you have superstitious feelings about (other than what I mentioned in question 3?) Probably when I was a kid and all the grups would talk about Friday 13th beign a bad day. Freaked me out!

#5 - So - for friday the 13th tomorrow are YOU doing anything special? Anything at all - superstitious oriented or not... does not matter. Tomorrow is payday Friday so we go out to eat and usually end up at the Disney store.

#6 - Do you gamble at all? Yes If so ... what are your favorite games? Mega millions lottery and office pools.

#7 - And ... here's a new twist... what would YOU have posted as a Friday the 13th question IF you were drafting a 7 question query for chuckles? And - if you wish.... feel free to answer the one of the other posted responses to this question 7 as a "bonus" 8th question....

Have you ever had anything freaky happen to you on Friday the 13th? Where I work it’s always a full moon!

I'm catching up a little and I just wanted to tell you Tina that I Love your siggie pic! You both have such happy faces and this pic of you guys make me smile everytime I see it!

No you're not a downer Judy! I appreciate the advice especially from a medical professional! It's hard when you're in the moment & you don't want to disappoint the kids & DH keeps saying "I'm fine really!" Right now I don't know which way is up so I need someone to tell me. The reasons you gave me are exactly the reasons I don't want to be traveling from home right now. As you know we are going to WDW in August which is after DH's complete physical in June & I'm sure I'd feel much more comfortable waiting till then. I will talk to the doctors tomorrow & see what advice they offer also. I will of course lose my points, but DH's health is so much more important so it doesn't really matter. Thanks again!

... and I have a large titanium bolt and washer buried in my hip with some loss of feeling on the leg due to the surgical incision cutting some nerves which never recovered. Aside from that... I have full range of motion and no real pain... and NO... I don't set off metal detectors at the airport... but I imagine the bolt might show up on the new backscatter X-ray security scanners being installed in airports now.

I set them off! :lmao: My THR is made of titanium and ceramic which sets off the detectors. I have also seen the X-Ray of it and it looks like a huge spike. I bet the airport security takes a double look at it with the X-Ray. :rotfl:

Diane about 16 years ago on the eve of a trip to Florida John went into anaphaytic shock (sp) and nearly died before the ambulance got to our house. Turns out he developed a sudden allergy to aspirin out of the blue. Anyway, they kept him overnight for observation after giving him epinefrin (sp). He took a cab home from the hospital, packed our luggage in the car and drove us to the airport (Taryn was 1). It was a really stressful trip. At the time we didn't know what he was allergic too (that came after with testing) but I don't think I slept a wink the whole week...I just stared at John waiting for something to happen to him. So I can REALLY appreciate your dilemma and I wish you luck in the decision. But Mike sounds like John and I could NOT talk him out of the trip

As far as the points, did you buy the insurance? Could you still buy the insurance? Maybe you can speak to DVC. Sometimes you hit a decent person over there. They helped me out once when I forgot to bank my points. Also, maybe you could rent them on the Rental Board on the DIS. Or best of all, maybe the Drs. with say go and have fun!!

Hey, no problem Stacey, it's just been a bad week and I needed to do a little venting, that's all..............;)

Hazel also received a call from one of her docs yesterday and he wants her to come in and see him about one of the tests results that came back in the other day. Seems blood was found in her stool sample she had taken just before we left for vacation. He doesn't think it is anything serious, but the unkown is always a bit scary. She sees the doc on April 25th.

:grouphug: For Hazel

You know M.R., I bet though that even without heads they could still make it into Stormalong Bay and mess it up with their friends, the ducks.
