I'm back for awhile. I hooked up the inverter for power so I can keep on DISing but my internet signal is really slow. We are going through the Cumberland Gap toward WV.

I just noticed that this thread is now in 2nd place in total replies made. We still have a long way to go to take over 1st place, but the cruise is still a long way off.....................

When we were in NM we had neighbors who screened everything that wasn't a VeggieTales movie before their four kids (ages 1-8) watched it. Mind you they--and all their friends--would NOT allow their kids to see any of the Harry Potter movies, nor read any of the HP books! Why? Because of the occult connotations (wizardry, witchcraft, spells etc) in the books & movies.

BUT the were all for having their kids see the entire Lord of the Rings series! Why? Nevermind the epic battle scenes, or the gore or the violence...no, those elements actually reinforced their stance regarding the battle between Good and Evil.

And they absolutely didn't permit them to see POTC. Why? Two reasons 1) while there's the battle between good & evil, the "good" side is a pirate and 2) Disney employs those people. Oddly enough though, they took a family trip to DL because their 3 girls love the Princesses.

Well...both of my kids have seen all of the Star Wars movies except #3...due to the fact that even the director said that his kids wouldn't watch it...and it just isn't appropriate IMO no matter how much they whine to watch it. They also love HP...the movies & the books. They are mesmorized by POC. I would NEVER let them watch LOTR however....way too graphic IMO.

JUST AS AN FYI EVERYONE. Myspace accounts are not allowed to be posted on the boards. This decision was made primarily to protect the younger members of the DIS boards since that site isn't monitored and the DIS is concerned about the safety of all its members. There isn't a way to fairly allow some to post & some not though...so at this time it is not allowed in general. The WMs are keeping track of how that site is monitored and if it becomes safer, the policy might be revised. Thanks!

The connection here keeps fading so I am going to sign out for tonight. I spent the past two days training for a new potential job. Now I just have to wait for them to review the training jobs that I submitted.

Just got done spending 3 days on a ladder painting our bedroom and bathroom. Andy, pass the Theragesic! DW has been after me for about 4 years to get this done and this weekend was it. Painting all day Friday did give a free pass of chat though. Well here are a few before and after shots. Well they are not exactly before but during so excuse the mess. Tomorrow we be putting everything back and finishing the trim. Hope that everyone else had a wonderful weekend.

And of course I would not have been able to get done without help from Austyn. Bye the way she loved talking to everyone in chat on Friday, she talked about it all weekend.

Nope not true - last summer you couldn't go anywhere around our city w/o hearing that word out of some 5th or 6th grader. So your not old - you just got "caught up" to again!

Thank you! DS could use some extra because MIL is having surgery 5/7...the day of their practice. She is having the worst kidney removed...which will allow them to remove the rest of the tumor that has grown around her tube. Hopefully she will recover well and we will be here on 5/12 for his FC.

Nice job there Roger, that shade of blue has such a calming effect. BTW, I'll send you out one of the tubes of THERA-GESIC I have here, I'm sure it will come in handy................
