Hard to say. When I started here eight years ago, I thought I'd work here forever. But things are so messed up right now, I'd probably be better off somewhere else. Funding has run out on the project I am assigned to and unless we land the contract I've been working on in the next few days, management will pull the plug. That will be the second time in a year for me. Last time, I was in a good position and landed in a new job without any issues (in fact, they gave me a choice of two jobs). This time, I'm sure they will show me the outside of the door.

I hope that what is best for you works out. :grouphug:

That stinks J.R. - hope that everything works out for you.

I'm in accounting but I think I like what Top Managment does better!

I'm in Product Management. We take 200 of the bricks away from engineering and then go tell them to build the same house they were going to build with 400 bricks, but make it twice as tall and make sure it has glass windows.

Check into Mail Order for the perscriptions... Sometimes they'll still give out a 90 day supply that way, even if they limit in-pharmacy transactions to 30 days.

After doing some research, I just found out this is possible for us to do!!!

I also found out even better news: an increase in the retirement age for "new hires" from 55 to 60, so it appears as I am grandfathered in and can still retire at 55 if that is my choice!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

JACK!!!! Welcome Home!! Hope you, Justine and the kids enjoyed the rest of your vacation! Thanks again for all your hospitality! You guys really went out of your way for us and we truly appreciate it.

Wasn't it like we all knew each other forever already??

I wish everyone could have been there, but one thing's for sure:

OUR TOAL will be AWESOME!!!

Thanks again!

We finally got home late this afternoon. We had a great time at both Disney and meeting everyone at the little OKW meet. Justine originally doubted that anyone would actually show up. She figured that it would just be me and Pete with our cooler. But eveyone was very pleased with how it turned out.

If the people we met are any indicia of the rest of the people on this cruise, this truly will be the TOAL.

Jack

That is so true! I'm going to print this out and hang it in my office so I can see it every day and be reminded about just what really is important!

Thanks for sharing it MR! And here's a little something from me to you friend

Hi There Diane! I get so much stupid Spam now thanks to a stupid Spammer (KWIM) that I am just now sorting through over 300 emails I received on vacation, 99% of which is garbage. But I do owe you an email and will answer soon Pal!! :thumbsup2

That's great news. Make those whippersnappers work the extra five years.

Under the Category "It's A Small World After All" Turns out our niece (my DBro. DD) and Jack and Justine's (Justine's DBro. DD) niece live on the same block in Queens, NY and are really good friends!

How's THAT for concidence......or rather 6 degrees of separation! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Have you considered such a meet might freak her out so much that she quits this job too?

That said, I wish I was in the area. I could go for some flapjacks. Is it too early for flapjacks?

Let's all play "Six Degrees of O'Blender"!

OK, time to vent again, this week is really starting to get on my last nerve.

I went into the office to drop off the meter book that I finished and to pick up my paycheck this afternoon. My boss' secretary was at her desk and we started some small talk about my trip last week. Then she says to me, "Did you happen to hear that it appears the retirement age is being pushed up to 60 for current as well as new employees?" The last I heard, those of us that were already in the retirement system could still go out at 55, but if this new proposal goes through, unless I want to take a pension cut, I will have to hang around until I am 60. Then the secretary tells me that our prescription co-pay is going up the 1st of May, and that we can only get a 30day supply of medication for each prescription. As it is right now, we can get a 90 day supply for each prescription.

I almost dread going into work tomorrow, for fear of more heart wrenching news...............

OK, time for me to take a chill pill and cool off a bit.........................

Better get your chill pills now, before the co-pay goes up!

Us self-employed schmucks have our premiums and co-pays go up every year. We're currently paying $1300 a month for our family.
We've always only been able to get a 30 day supply of our meds.
Welcome to my world!

Someone did tell me recently that there is some way of getting the 90 day supply....now if I could only remember how that is. Anybody see my "memory pills"???? :teeth:

Oh J. R. that's terrible. They won't do that though. If they offered you a choice between two jobs last time, I'm sure you're a valuable employee that they will try to place again.......

Remember this is coming from an HR professional.......Well okay, I'm a professional at something but not HR, but I do work in HR :thumbsup2

Seriously though best wishes that it all works out in your favor!

I love to hear stories like this - makes the world seem smaller.

Never to early (or late!) for flapjacks - or any breakfast food!

It's that old dog, new tricks thing. First, I'd be too embarrassed to take the classes. Second, I'd be too scared.

I used to teach swim lessons to handicapped children, to veterans and to the elderly. It's not so embarassing or scary if you found a program like the one I taught.
The ones who really showed courage were the veterans who had lost limbs.

I'm in Finance Management. We sell 200 of the bricks and tell Engineering they still have to build the same structure under the orginal cost estimates ...... in half the time.

Oh J. R. you obviously don't have STs yet..........They quit jobs for much, much less than this..........so I might as well have a little fun with her while I can! :thumbsup2

And my DD is actually one of the more responsible STs of her posse. She's been at the drug store for nearly a year......like dogs, that's equivalent to 7 ST years :rotfl: :rotfl:

For the record....I'd love to have another Meet, but I wouldn't do that to DD, she is leaving for college soon and I'd like for us to be on speaking terms when she does go off to school......Oh No now I'm getting all weepy again..
