I had written something here but decided not to post it.

Lets say I do not agree. Two people lost.

Oh its harmless. I'm sure the people posting there are not posting in jest at the expense of the unfortunate people lost in that cruise recently. Its unfortunate that it happened but the thread is not aimed at them. Its obviously aimed at the ridiculous hours and days of scheduling and organization and racing to wait in line that a DISer must go through to get the events and dining and such to make their cruise semi-decent and enjoyable; but you knew that....you can't honestly blow the whole thing out of proportion to the point to suggest that its anything other than that. Its like joking about a new DCL policy to ask cruisers to stop eating during the Canal crossing or to make larger passengers get off the boat to make the crossing easier...its all in good fun. Making fun of Disney and its policies and requirements is one thing, making fun of unfortunate circumstances is another.

Oh, Andy...that's the pits.

Is there any way you can get the info directly from the source, just so you know you have it first-hand?

As far as the pension goes, that is part of the state and the secretary got the info from the newspaper last week. Since we were in Florida last week, we had our newspaper stopped for the week. I'm going to try and see if I can find any news articles online and also check the state pension website.

OK, time to vent again, this week is really starting to get on my last nerve.

I went into the office to drop off the meter book that I finished and to pick up my paycheck this afternoon. My boss' secretary was at her desk and we started some small talk about my trip last week. Then she says to me, "Did you happen to hear that it appears the retirement age is being pushed up to 60 for current as well as new employees?" The last I heard, those of us that were already in the retirement system could still go out at 55, but if this new proposal goes through, unless I want to take a pension cut, I will have to hang around until I am 60. Then the secretary tells me that our prescription co-pay is going up the 1st of May, and that we can only get a 30day supply of medication for each prescription. As it is right now, we can get a 90 day supply for each prescription.

I almost dread going into work tomorrow, for fear of more heart wrenching news...............

OK, time for me to take a chill pill and cool off a bit.........................

Andy that is horrible. :sad2: We all know how much you are looking forward to retirement.:sad2: Maybe You will fall into the current Cat and retirement age can not change for you.:flower3::grouphug: No one wants to insure me or my DH because of pre-existing conditions.. We have to wait for Medicare. :sad1:

:cake: :cake: I love huge cakes.:cake: :cake: Did you see my Easter Cake????? :confused3 Three layers high!!!

I nominate Cap'n Jack to bring us a cake from Freed's Bakery for the sail away party!!! Anyone second the motion?

Andy--

I hope you are able to find the information, and that MAYBE things aren't as bad for you as they seem. Even if they are, be sure to get in touch with your State representatives to let them know how your family will be effected by the change. If the changes have not yet been passed into law, then it doesn't hurt to at least voice your displeasure with the proposal.

Brack - I hear you. I remember being at the World back in 1994 and talking to one of the DVC Reps. I think it was $42/point for what is now OKW. I wanted to do it. My then husband wanted no parts of a "time-share". 10 years and a few thousand $$ laters, I did it on my own.

Hey Kathy I noticed you didn't call him your "EX" husband. Is that cause you like him or hate him?? ;)

You Go Girl that you bought DVC on your own. I wouldn't be able to afford a WDW ticket on my own :scared1:

Here's something my everlovin' DH emailed me today. After my family.....I'd like to have a couple of cups of coffee with all of you!! Enjoy:

A MAYONNAISE JAR AND two CUPS OF COFFEE

When things in your life seem almost too much too handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the two cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full, they agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things- your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions — things that if everything else was lost and only they remained your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car.

The sand is everything else — the small stuff.

If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal."

Take care of the golf balls first — the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

I wont tell ya what the temperature here is Andy.............Like ya too much !!!

Mark...........not FGM LOL

Mark.......STOP posting as FairyGodmama......you're Freaking me out :scared1: :scared1:

Glad you're enjoying your vacation Pal!

You do realize that you are going to have to show off all of your swimming strokes on the Magic. I can see it now - slightly inebriated crowd of 100 pirates cheering on a grown man as he swims laps in the adult pool.
Sounds like an excuse to have a party to me.

:fish: :jumping1: :fish:

Congratulations, Jonsing on conquering your fear of drowning. You'll be competing in Triathalons in no time :)

You know, I had no idea what you were talking about until I saw Andy's post. (GoofyforGoofy) I'm sorry but I never even considered the tragic accident when I read that thread. I was only looking at it as people venting about some of the questions that get posted on the cruise board. I remember when someone asked where the reserved section of CC was for concierge...for example. I know many of the people who posted on that thread and I seriously doubt that they even considered the tragedy when they posted their comment. I feel badly that it never entered my mind when I read it but I come to the boards to get away from the stress of every day life.

OY.. I have so much to Ketchup..

Happy Wednesday, birthday and hope all are well.

I have a room number too!!! I am more towards the middle of the ship.:thumbsup2 It will be our little secret!!!:rolleyes1

Yeah does that mean that we can party in your room? Congrats on the 100 post.. and I do live close enough for some of that CAKE :rolleyes1

I'm behind that much too but since I'm home recovering today I have time to "ketcup". :surfweb:

You said it .... me too..

Are we ready to hear what happened yet.:confused3 Are you too angry to talk about it???:grouphug: :grouphug:

Well, this is in regards to DD's class. Her assistant teacher is now doing her student teaching to get her degree at a different school for the second half of the year. They didn't have anyone for a month. Parents volunteered to go in & help but were turned down by the teacher. Our letters sent in January resulted in them hiring a substitute to be the assistant in that room. Four weeks later she was told by HR at central services that because of the fact that the person student teaching is still being paid, there is no money in the budget to put anyone else in that classroom. That is the stupidest thing that I ever heard. Where is the money from the new lottery going? This can't be the only classroom affected like this in the county. My child & the others in that room are being denied their right to the proper faculty/student ratio to help them learn properly. The other two classrooms have assistant teachers. Now they have suggested that one of them will split their time between the two classrooms. Now instead of 20 kids being at a disadvantage...there will be 40 affected by the school board's stupidity.

Also, the parent survey came home today in response to our letters. What a crock! It is a 21 question generic survey with bubbles to fill in. No room for comments or details regarding problems.

Well...

... I've just been awakened to help the spouse dose the little one with some Tylenol. So... before I turn back in I'll see about catchin' up a lttle more on recent postings missed...

Must be something going around the DIS again. My DD5 was complaining about being sick last night and was really warm. We knew she wasn't faking it when she skipped dinner and didn't want any brownies. So Mommy is going to work from home today (an excuse to stay out of the weather).

Wow Tom I hope your DW and J. R., your DD feel better soon!! It's the darn weather darn it! And it all his fault......our little Groundhog! KILL HIM!!

Oh NO that's not what playing Rugby looks like is it???? :scared1: I must save my DH!! :lmao: :lmao:

Sorry that you have to go thru this..

We are in the same boat too.. Literally and figuratively.. The company annouced that the pension payout was cut for all so we will be getting a lot of money less per year now..
