DD aka my ST

Attended her 2nd student show at the farm she rides at.

She rode in two divisions in the intermediate level.

First was walk trot cantor..... She came in 3rd place out of 10 kids. (She would have been 2nd but one of the advanced riders was put into the lower division for some reason.)

Second division was jumping. .... She came in 5th there...

We're so proud... I remember a couple yrs ago when she first started riding and would jump off if the horse even hit a trot....

Suddenly I realized HE COULD SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT . . .LOL It brought tears to my eyes . . .

Theresa I kept that sticker that came with my car on the passenger side that states because of the airbag children under 12 shouldn't sit there the whole time I owned my car. (we have had it 9 years now) DS used to get so aggravated with me. But I never let him. Worked wonders when I would have my neices and they would race for the front. I'd point to the sign and say back seat.:)

My DD's are in their 1st show in a few weeks. They are so excited. 7 yo DD, Miranda was devastated when her horse died unexpectantly last week. Now she has to start over w/ another horse.
My DH, Bill and I were both raised on ranches so we were riding before we were walking. I am so glad DD's like it as well.
Congrats to your DD!

 sorry to hear about your dd's horse....

My dd hasn't had that happen yet but there have been some unfortunate others at the farm in the last couple years....

Believe it or not, dd got into this on her own. I only trail rode a couple times as a child and as a ST. She got real interested after having a friend in 2nd grade who owned a horse. One day we went over to where they boarded to see the horse and the girls fed and groomed him. I pretty much went into allergic fits and my eyes swelled shut after this incident.

I've let DD go to many GS riding camps and some one week camps during the summer. One day a worker at our Petsmart recommend the farm dd rides at now. For the past two yrs DD has been old enough to work for her riding lessons. She works one afternoon and two saturdays a month in exchange for weekly group lessons. (so saves me $210 every 6 weeks.) It still costs us gas money to drive down to the farm (about 18+ miles).

So my DD rides and as fate would have it, I am allergic to the horses and all the dirt that gets kicked up in the indoor ring. I can only watch them in the spring/summer when lessons can be held outdoors.

Sound like so far it will be Tom, Brack and M. on the dawn patrol. Here is the deal: you stay out of my pictures, I'll stay out of yours!

I promise to try but I like capturing others too.

La, la, la . . . where did ya go? I'm attempting to work, but would rather hang out here:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hmmm guess it's getting too late for east coast...not late enough for west coasters and the brits are asleep....

I have to go to bed myself..... 5:30 comes earlier and earlier.... I need a Verandah Man alarm clock....(but don't wake me till after 5)

I never get 8 hrs sleep....

That was me Arlene.....we have been calling our kids Stinky Teens since DD hit 13 four years ago. At first it was because of their stinky-like teen attitude, and then our son turned 13, and well, stinky took on a whole other meaning :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now he smells too much of Axe cologne YUCK!!!

:lmao:

Night Everyone..........This Pirate needs some shut eye !!!!

It's so true "M" she was grumpy when we left this morning, but she was all smiles when she got out of the car and started walking in to the mall. After we dropped her off, I parked the car, the Hazel and I stopped at a cookie store, bought a tray of cookies and dropped them off at the store for "ST" and her co-workers, the Hazel and I went to Friendly's for a bite of lunch. We "peeked" in at B-a-B on our way out, and "ST" was busy stuffing a Ninja Turtle for a little girl, and she looked so happy, made mom and I feel very proud and happy as well............:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Andy, you and Hazel better watch out with all the mall food.We want y'all to be able to fit in your pirate gear:rotfl:

And this weekend here's the latest installment of.....

question.gif

7 Scary Questions?

1) Do scary thoughts REALLY BOTHER you? If so then please feel free to skip the next 6 questions OR substitute "HAPPIEST" or "HAPPY" for the word "Scariest" or "scary" accordingly below and proceed!!!

2) What is all time scariest MOVIE you've seen?

3) What SCENE was the scariest to you?

4) What is the scariest thing you can imagine (OFF HAND) which is NOT from TV or a movie?

5) Ever have something scary happen to YOU in real life? Tell us a little of it if ya "dare"... ?

6) Can you recall something SCARY from you childhood? This may involve or be someone else's experience as opposed to something YOU are personally experiencing.

7) Would you like to GUESS what the NEXT respondant will say to ONE of these questions? If "yes"... then which Q and reply do you think they will have? Yeah... this is perhaps a tough one... but lets' see if anyone gets it! We'll be watchin' the editing times - and NO CHEATING with PMs and collusion folks!!! We got our eyes on you... :rolleyes

<chuckles>

1) Do scary thoughts bother me? No.
2) Scariest Movie? Poltergeist. This was on HBO in the early 80's when I lived alone in my first apartment. I couldn't watch it without a pillow in front of my face. It took about 5 showings before I could watch it all the way through.
3) Scariest Scene? Many from "Silence of the Lambs"
4) Scariest Thing (no TV or Movie)? For some reason I am terrified of a fire.
5) Scariest thing in real life? This happened in November of 2005. When we remodeled our house in 1999, we put a security system in. We did not hook it up to a local security company, but it does "beep" whenever an exterior door opens or closes. We live in a very rural area with houses near by (half acre lots), but never had any problems. One night (2 am or so), I was half awake and heard the exterior door chime. I was actually able to wake my husband quickly (usually I can't wake him up). We assumed it was one of the boys getting something out of the van (the chime sounds when the door to the garage opens too). My husband put some pants on and walked into the kitchen and there was a man/person/shadowy figure standing in our living room. My husband yelled "Get the #*(# out!!!!!" and the person ran off. I have never heard that tone of voice from my husband before or since...thank goodness. Our kids sleep downstairs and never woke up. Somehow we left the upstairs door from the deck to the living room unlocked. We assume the intruder froze as he walked in the front door. Thank goodness he didn't have a weapon. We now never go to bed without checking all the doors...lesson learned. I still can't believe how I was paralyzed with fear....
6) Scary from childhood? I was terrifyed of my older brother....my parents kicked him out of the house when he was 18. He was just mean.
7) Would I like to guess? No. I'm no good at guessing.

Hi Arlene, I forgot to mention congrats on making a great try for the pirate:. Can you believe a 1000 posts of just talking TOAL . Does it get any better:confused3 NOT

WE SAW WICKED LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!

Its playing at the Pantages Theatre here in LA and it was the most AWESOME AWESOME play!!!!:woohoo:

We saw Wicked in NYC in February. We'd been listening to the music for months...we still have the CD playing in the van every time we get in it. We loved it!!

I actually bought tickets today to see it again on October 27th at the Pantages when we are at Disneyland for four days. I just couldn't resist the reasonable airfare and a reason to see Wicked again. Our kids have conferences on the 25th and 26th and no school, so we are making it a four day weekend. Our last trip to Disneyland was before the repo in 2005. My husband hasn't been since 2004. DH hasn't been on new Space Mountain or Buzz Lightyear. In 2005, California Screamin' was down because of the accident, Big Thunder was down, Indiana Jones was down. We can't wait to visit again....
