Well, this is interesting...and good! San Francisco has passed a law that bans grocery stores from using plastic bags. (I know I am guilty of choosing plastic over paper , but I have actually been considering buying a few of those heavy-duty canvas tote bags and just bringing them with me when I shop...)

Hopefully it will inspire more cities to do the same!

Hi all! I just booked our airfare for our Aug. vacation. We are flying Jetblue into MCO & staying at the Radisson the night before our 3-day RCCL cruise & then heading to BWV's for almost 2 weeks. What really gets me is that we are paying $1600 for 2 OV staterooms on Sovereign of the Seas & we are paying $1100 to fly roundtrip on Jetblue. On RCCL we get transportation to the Bahamas, all the food we can eat, 4 beds, 2 TV's, 2 private bathrooms, & entertainment. What do we get on Jetblue? Transportation to Florida, no legroom, use of a teeny tiny public bathroom, a TV for each of us that may or may not work, 1 small cup of soda & a package of cookies, Doritos, peanuts, or blue potato chips! Where's the justice?

Hello Everyone!

Sorry, but I've been away. Also have been working alot over the last week, and packing for our trip to
Walt Disney World

We're soooo excited. I just love packing and anticipating the trip. We're driving down on Monday April 2nd and will be in Florida till April 13th. We're staying at The Old Key West Resort. Hope to meet up with a few people from the DIS board.

So far we have them on demand, but you are given 'points' on clubcards if you reuse and some shops are stopping bags.

Car taxes have risen sharply for large cars as well, 4x4 we call them chelsea tractors. £200 to £400pa, depature tax at airports has doubled £80pp to USA.

I promise I won't be such a downer all the time....

I decided this morning that I am flying to RI for the funeral of the Coastie who died. I need to be there. It's only money. A lot of it, but it's only money.

I spoke to DH "Steve" for the first time this morning since it happened. I've had several conversations with "LCDR Sk8ingdad", the officer, not the man, during the last few days, but today is the first time I've talked to the man.
I need to go to be there with him. He is working so hard to make sure everything and everyone else is taken care of. He is responsible for the well-being of 76 people and one of them is not coming home. Non-military won't get this, but in a way, I represent all of the wives. I've never been one of those wives who try to wear my husband's rank on my own sleeve, I actually avoid it at all costs because it drives me nuts, but this time I need to be there for all the people who can't.

And oh yeah, I having a hour-long press event Tuesday morning with all our local mayors, state legislators and one of AK's senators...no stress at work. It's a great time to take a day or 2 off.

What are they going to do, fire me?

I spoke to DH "Steve" for the first time this morning since it happened. I've had several conversations with "LCDR Sk8ingdad", the officer, not the man, during the last few days, but today is the first time I've talked to the man.
I need to go to be there with him. He is working so hard to make sure everything and everyone else is taken care of. He is responsible for the well-being of 76 people and one of them is not coming home. Non-military won't get this, but in a way, I represent all of the wives. I've never been one of those wives who try to wear my husband's rank on my own sleeve, I actually avoid it at all costs because it drives me nuts, but this time I need to be there for all the people who can't.

And oh yeah, I having a hour-long press event Tuesday morning with all our local mayors, state legislators and one of AK's senators...no stress at work. It's a great time to take a day or 2 off.

Yes, we have one that does points for reusing or bringing your own cloth bags. (I think it's Trader Joe's, but I'm not sure.) It's a great idea, and I think all retailers should do it.

Yes, I totally understand...I'm not military, but I have a BIL who is Army stationed in Germany, getting ready for his second deployment to Iraq. So I fully understand the struggles involved in being a military family. to you and to all of the men and women who serve. (And to the men, women, and children who love and support them! )
