I have 500 more posts to ketchup up on. I just wanted to say I loved all the Easter pictures and the mini meet pictures.

We have a winter storm warning out here for SNOW.:headache:

I might have lots of time to ketchup. I will be snowed in.

If there is even a trace of SN*W on my lawn tomorrow, there will be a DEAD groundhog. I must go into work tomorrow because of training and that means sliding around with all of the other idiots and taking 3+ hours to get home tomorrow night

Night all. I have to watch Dancing with the Stars.

Talk to you all tomorrow!!!

Karen

Did you have a feeling that the surprise was going to happen before it actually did? I was hoping that I would be right. :goodvibes

I was noticing that too. Don't know how you do it Todd....if I had an entire family full of Aries just as stubborn and selfish as me, we'd kill each other!

We are in very good company Eileen was class of 73 and Mike 72 Joins Hazel's group

3/4 of the way through Idol and waiting for House. Then I think I'm heading for bed.

My "bad Mom" experience tonight..........I'm getting my things ready for the trip to my parents' next week. I couldn't find the charger to my DVD player anywhere. I searched Jared's room, then Jordan's....and I was getting really, really mad  at them. I just KNEW that they had lost it.

I finally looked in the drawer where I keep my camera chargers and such. TA DA! There it was. Who'd a thunk it? :confused3

Bad Mommy...:rolleyes1 blaming the innocent children......

Easy...give all the incoming kids a Lysol bath! Seriously, why would they think that a kid with a fever is okay for daycare? When we were in Vegas and used the Kid's Quest facility, they absolutely DO NOT permit any sick kids! Perhaps you can just print out the relevant section of state/county code? Better yet, tell them that you're not permitted to administer meds to sick kids--that requires a licensed nurse or doctor...many counties have such rules.
i seriously am NOT allowed to take feverish kids in my daycare. i make exceptions of course...especially when the child is teething...but yesterday was absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!it was not teething...it was pure miserable sickness...and the kids were truly showing it! they were extremely pathetic! the one little boy is not usually a whiner...but the poor kid just wanted his mom and his own bed! today i talked to the dad...and he shared a bit of info about the doc's visit with me. Little did he know that i already had the inside story on the doc visit...cuz i had to take my own ds to the doc first thing this am!!! unbelievabley...he is sick!! now...the thing that gets me....yesterday, the parents told me that the kids ONLY had an ear infection. well....today, the good doc tells me it's some trachea blah blah something or other...AND IT'S HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS!!!!! ugh! hmmm...i wonder why i wasn't informed of that yesterday? maybe they were too busy! LOL!
oh and as far as meds are concerned...in ny you basically do have to be a nurse, or a doc to administer them. i refuse to take the classes for dispensing meds...way too time consuming...and too much of a liablility. i'd rather not have the hassle of it. most meds are given morning and nite anyways..so i make the parents do it before/after daycare hours.

I could rant about the people who don't stay home from WORK when they are sick. A guy down the hall from me yesterday was coughing up a lung all day.

:hippie:
i wonder if they had just dropped off their sick kid at daycare too?

Either that or give them all a nice dose of Nyquil then curl up in a chair with your own kids....

(Or dear, here comes that nice lady from child services to the door again. And to think last time she said 'I don't want to have to come here again'.)

:hippie:
i actually made a joke about that at one time at one of our child care classes...they all know i'm a jokester when it comes to stuff like that....or am i???? LMAO!! no seriously i am a jokester about that...i also love to use duct tape to keep the kids in line!

Shannon - I can soooo relate with selfish people dropping their kids off sick. I only have a problem with one of my parents. GET THIS - this year she dropped her DD off one day when she had Coxsackie Virus. She broke out in "hives" (her words, not mine) the day before and she claims the Dr told her (over the phone) it was an allergic reaction to meds. Two days later the 18 month old got coxsackie, full blown, and was sick with it for a week & 1/2. Oh, and she took her DD to the Dr that afternoon and never informed me that it was coxsackie and not an allergic reaction. THe mom of the little boy (they all work together) is the one that informed me of it, which made me look like a fool. Last week I made her come pick her DD up because she was hacking non stop for 35 minutes. Ummm, I have an infant in the house :headache: .

The thing that gets me is all my Moms are teachers and they get 15 personal days a year. But, for some reason this lady will not use them to stay home with her kids when they're sick :confused3 . I'm not the only one that has a problem with her. She loads the older ones up with motrin and sends them to school and the other all teachers know it. She just thinks everyone's stupid.

OK, off my soap box  - Is it summer yet? :rotfl:

:cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: - Sending some more cyber cake to your DD & DS
i miss my teachers kids...that is what i originally started my daycare with. i loved my summer off! now i'm dreading summers...cuz i have all my normal kids plus the 3-5 school aged that stay all day. i'm on the lookout this year for a summer rec program for them to participate in. unfortunately we don't have much in this area.
That is horrible! :( Can't you refuse them if they have a fever? Most places around here refuse to take the kids if they are sick. There are places that only take sick kids in some areas.
some of my parents just don't get the whole refusal thing! i will tell them they can't come...and next thing you know...they are walking in my front door...signing the kid in....and running out the door to work. it drives me nuts! i know they do have to work...and they know that usually i will let alot slide...but sometimes enough is enough! and i have to think of my family too.
I can understand if kid is really sick... But I'm not one of those parents who will keep my kid home at the slightest sniffle....

My DH has nieces who are allowed to stay home at the drop of anything...I feel sorry for their bosses later in life.....

I've always taught my dd to suck it up and go to school. (i draw the line at puking of course) Many jobs do not give you sick time now-a-days and since I'm not independently wealthy i go to work.

When DD was little she would throw a slight fever at each tooth. (It was a phase. Fever, drool, rash, tooth. The daycare she was at would call me to come get her the second her temp went over 99. Of course then i could give them permission to give her tylenol but i still had to leave work. by the time, i'd get there, my dd was happy, playing, no fever. DOH!!!!!

and to think i lost that job because of all the times daycare made me pick her up for nothing.....

My dd also has sensitive skin so does get freaky rashes (Moreso when she was younger....They would usually go right away in a day or so. She gets like an eczema thing on her inner elbow and knees. Once the dance teacher made me take her home and not to come back without a dr's note because the teacher thought she had ringworm... I knew this was not the case but got the note anyway and shoved said note in her face....
Never got bothered again....

Just a working parents point of view....
i never expect the parents to keep the kids home with the sniffles. heck...half the time i myself have the sniffles. but fever and such is another matter...especially when it's regulated by the state. this is my business and i do not intend to lose it cuz a parent can't take time off for their kids. some of my parents make me very sad cuz of this...an example...the one family is never sick...and i mean never! the kid gets the sniffles and such...but in over a year...he has never had to miss a day of care here. he is another one that was VERY sick on monday. his fever was over 100 with the ear thermom not even all the way in his ear. i didn't want to poke it all the way in cuz i could tell his ears were throbbing! the kid was awful looking. his eyes and nose just kept dripping...he was burning up...his ears and throat hurt. he should not have been here! all my parents know that mondays are the busiest days, so they knew that i was NOT gonna be able to just sit and hold their child. i felt horrible. i had other kids that we had to take care of, and this little guy who normally does not complain, just wanted to be held, and loved. i did as much as i could...but it wasn't enough. he needed his own parents! not me! times like these are when i expect the parent to step up and take care of their own. i love the kids i watch dearly and i have a mostly great relationship with their parents but there are just some things that amaze me!

My DD had the same rule -unless you have a fever or are throwing up, on the bus you go. She would play sick every day if she thought for one second she could get away with it. She does not like school at all ;) .

Oh my, in your senario, I would never even bother a parent at work (except to approve meds), never mind make them leave work for a teething child, and the symptoms, as you describe them, are obviously consistant with teething. I hope my post didn't come off as that is something I would do in my daycare :confused3 .

However, it is my responsibility to keep this enviroment as healthy as possible for everyone's children (including my own). From a Daycare Mom's point of view, believe me, it is a fine line and can be an uncomfortable confrontation (the coxsackie incident surely was) to deal with. So much so, I will always give the benefit of the doubt first. That being said, there is a big difference between a common cold and a sick, fevering, contagious child, and Moms know the difference ;) . I consider myself a working Mom too, and do not get paid when I have to close my daycare due to illness on my part. Bottom line, common sense should always prevail on all sides.
JMHO :hippie:
very well said!!!
:bday: Lauryn & Dylan!! Hope your Birthday's were GRRRRREAT!!!

P.S. to Todd....does you whole family share birthday's around one another?? That's Cool! :thumbsup2

P.S. to Shannon...your kids b-day are a day apart?? Also Cool!

yes they are only a day apart! when i found out i was pg and due for my youngest only a few days after his sis's bday...i was really bummed! i didn't want my dd to have to share her bday with a sibling. i had some pg related issues, with DS, and they tried to induce labor a week and a half early...but he wasn't ready! so they induced me on april 9th...thinking that it wouldn't happen again. at 10 pm...the doc told me that there was no way he would be born on the 9th...it would end up happening on the 10th...on his sis's bday...what i really didn't want! well...nick had a mind of his own...and he came only 50 mins after the doc said that!! so he was born at 10:50 pm on the 9th. Lauryn was born on april 10th at 12:35 in the am...so they were less than 2 hours away from the same bday 3yrs apart!!! now that it's been a while...i really like having them only a day apart. it works out so nicely for the family parties and such. the strangest thing is...my gma and gpa had 10 kids. of the 10....3 of them share the same exact bday!! (and no...there are no twins involved!) they just all happened to be born on april 19th.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY CAPTAIN CRASH!!
