Received this e-mail from DCL this morning concerning the Panama crossing.

Thank you for booking a vacation with Disney cruise line, we have some important information concerning the Panama crossing 15 night cruise on August 17th, 2008.

Since your last vacation and our last transit of Panama, we have added a number of new features to the Disney Magic, including the Dumbarton an on deck LED videoscreen wall at the Goofy pool to show late night movies and an enhanced Vista Spa and salon area.

When adding these features to the cruise ship for everyone’s extra enjoyment, it also added weight to the overall ship. This has affected our buoyancy ratio, it is not any problem in normal sea operations, however in freshwater we have identified a problem, as the buoyancy is far less than in sea water.

The Panama crossing is in freshwater and therefore there is a small possibility if the ship is fully occupied and with the additional features as mentioned above the Panama authorities have told us the ship might not rise in the locks.

I am sure you would not wish the ship to travel in any circumstance where safety is compromised, Maritime law dictates we must make provision, so we will have to make some additional conditions of carriage on the Panama crossings, as follows:-

Luggage. Must be restricted to one bag per person.

Any souvenirs purchased in Acapulco should be shipped home, not taken onboard.

Food, the ship will be loaded in Los Angeles with sufficient food upto the Panama Canal and reloaded in Cartagena food will be restricted on the day of the crossing, to add extra buoyancy, and will consist of Salads and light snacks only all day.

We further ask all cruisers who are over 12 stone to either diet before the cruise or work out in the gym each day before the crossing to ensure the safety of the ship. Servers will restrict desserts to one per person until after the crossing.

The Captain reserves the right to ask large cruisers at the first lock of the panama canal to either get off and catch the train to the other end, or when the ship is in the lock to ‘jump’’ upwards when the bridge makes an announcement, ship to assist its levitation.

We hope these restrictions do not effect your enjoyment of this cruise and look forward to sailing with you! Have a Magical Day!

My mom has to go in and work today, so we are going to take it easy until the Bar-B-Q this afternoon. We have to go into town and pick up a few itmes at the store, tomorrow we might go to one of the local springs for a swim. Did I mention it is going up to 84* here today? Oh and 85* tomorrow, 86* on Wednesday and 87* on Thursday..................and that's no April Fools ;)

Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy some more:)

You know what's funny (not) about that? She was dead serious. I told her that the necklaces are only available on the ships...and that the ships were coming back next year...(in other words, cruise and get one for yourself)....and at that point, I thought she would kind of laugh, and then tell me where I could get Pepsi. But NO....she didn't. She just stood there looking at me, rang my purchase and handed me my change!

:confused3 She must have really wanted your necklace!:)

I'm back in Minneapolis for another 4 hours. . .

I've spent the last 2 days having my heart ripped apart for a man I barely knew, a wife I've spoken with a few times, and parents whom I had never met before.

And there but for the grace of God go I....
M, I know this has been a difficult time for you.

Quick share - my ST Son - called me at 12:28 pm to ask me if our DVC paperwork had already gone in - me of course - asks why? As I'm bewildered as to why he's calling me that time of night to ask that ? (We bought via CM price for the pts) anyway, he tells me that his supervisor upset him so much that he threw his badge at him effectively quitting. :faint: :faint:

That was me - then at the same time my inner'ds are screaming - NO NO NO NO! while also saying - he can't quite like that he's union - while also saying: Duh! :headache: Its April Fool's!

When he didn't get the reaction he wanted - partly because I was in  :scared: he screams out - April's Fools!

Not funny I tell him - not funny - doesn't he know that Micky is sacred? You don't mess with the almighty Mickey!

Now  how to pay him back?? (I wonder if he'll make it to our cruise next year?) :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao:

Good Evening everyone! Hope everyone down south is having a great time. We went and saw Meeting the Robinsons in 3D. It was a cute movie. Lost it at the end when a quote about moving forward came on the screen. It was a quote from W. Disney. Must of been needing a good cry! The name just popped off the screen. They gave out good 3D glasses. Oh no I missed the new Travel Channel show on DCL. Showed the Flying Dutchman!

We are just finishing up watching it. It was nice to see Brent instead of Rick as Cruise Director.

There is a special place in Heaven for women like you. Hang in there. You're almost home.

The following was copied and pasted from my trip journal.

Howdy All,

It’s 4:30am on Saturday morning March 31st and we are in Ashland, Virginia. I’m writing this quick report into my journal and will post it later, since I can’t seem to get connected to the internet at our motel. If you are ever driving on I-95, and stop at exit 92, unless you have no other choice, avoid the Apple Garden Inn. OK, here’s are trip so far.

We left home at 6:10pm last evening and headed south. I had Hazel call MR to see if her family had left. MR stated that they got on the road about 3:30pm, and were already in Maryland, traveling on I-95. I decided since it was later in the day, I would take I-95 as well. We were making good progress until we crossed over from Washington, DC into Virginia. We were about 90 north of Richmond, VA when we hit bumper to bumper traffic. It took us about 90 minutes to travel the next 17 miles, by this time I was kicking myself for not going down 13 like I usually do. The reason for the back up, there was a bad accident about 74 miles north of Richmond that involved at least 5 or 6 cars. We tried calling MR to make sure they were OK, and when we didn’t get an answer on her cell, I was getting a little concerned.

MR called us a little before 11pm to let us know they were near mile marker 45 in Virginia and were looking for a place to stop for the night. At this time, we were only at mile marker 123 and I decided there was no way I was going to make it to meet up with them, so we pulled off I-95 at exit 92 around 11:30pm and I was in bed and asleep by midnight.

HEY..........you were so close to us - we are exit 86 Atlee/Elmont! Traffic is always bad on 95 on Sat and Sun - its awful, we avoid it if at all possible. Part of the reason for the congestion was the Monument Ave 10K - which I am proud to say I ran and did quite well. Sorry you ran into tough spots - have fun on vacation!

We went on a Group Scooter Ride today....40+ Bikes  We had a ball!
We took pics. I'll have Kev post them for me. You'll finally get to see our faces. :lmao:

I am going to start taking pictures from ones you guys post on the thread for the website if you guys don't start sending me your pictures. ;)

Good Evening Gang

Just signed back on for a few minutes. I'm working on hooking up the computer my brother Rob sent down for my mom so she can start posting on the thread.

Anyhow, I took the attached photo of my mom and her younger brothers, Pete(sitting next to my mom) and Al(sitting next to Pete) while my mom was eating dinner tonight. My mom had to work until 7pm, so she got to the Bar-B-Q a little late.

We are going to De Leon Springs tomorrow afternoon. Lina is sounding better, we think her allergies are just acting up again.
