HEY... I didn't know it was time for Picture Pages!!

Always a good time for picture pages!

This will be our first trip to Hawaii....I'm a history nerd, so I am really looking forward to Pearl Harbor. I am also really excited about the Atlantis Submarine Tour in Honolulu. I was on the fence about going, but we can buy military discount tickets fom about $100 for all 4 of us AND one of the artificial reefs they pass on the tour is the sunken USS San Pedro. That's the ship my grandpa served on during WWII!

That's too cool regarding your GP's ship. We were just in Hawaii in August. We stayed 4 days in Waikiki, 2 day on the Big Island, and 3 days in Maui. Our favorites: Lanikai Beach, Mai Tai's, Hanauma Bay, Polynesian Culture Center, and Pearl Harbor on Oahu. Kona coast, Mai Tai's, and Volcano National Park on Big Island. The summit of Haleakala at sunset and Mai Tai's on Maui. When we were on Maui, they were containing wild fires, but they were pretty neat to see from the summit at dusk. We thought the road to Hana was a little overrated, but maybe because we had driven already around the Big Island and thought it was just as beautiful.

Every nite at dinner I would ask for 2 bars for each of us at the table... then I would put them into a igloo ice chest carried in my double stroller. I had the kitchen save a block of dry ice for me which each day gets chipped off to maintain temps in my igloo. My cabin fridge was switched by special request to a mini-freezer. The only thing was it is always too small to hold all the Mickey Bars. SO I usually enlisted the aid of one of my neighbor cabins. I would get their fridge switched to the mini-freezer. That usually gives me enuf capacity.

But on the last cruise we had so many people I had a problem. SO I had to special order a 2nd mini-freezer in my cabin. This got complicated since I had a small cabin. SO I had to give up the use of my bath-tub. That's where we put the 2nd mini-freezer.

But that's not all... I had to get the captain of the Magic or Wonder to sign the award certificates. This involved obtianing the assistance of the Cruise Director. Well... I had to meet the CD to be taken personally to the captain on the BRIDGE. There we met with the 1st mate who had to sort of witness his signature as it was being affixd to each certificate. Then I had to guest relations officer to obtain a character signature(s). I usually just asked for any character to sign. So this involve more time to coordinate. I usually supplied my own pens to ink the certificates so all of the siggys would have matching ink on each award certificate.

Oh yeah... before I did any of this I had to get approval DCL HQ on shore. SO I have to submit a specimen of the award certificate with an outline of the private event plus a request for use of the space on a semi-private basis. They reutrn a contract of what I can and cannot do. It is lengthy ... so I usually forward it to my counsel for review and approval. This got complicated as he had to refer it to another attorny who specialized in maritime law. This in turn resulted in a revision that DCL had to have their people review. I started to complain that all I wanted to do was have a tounge in cheek ice cream bar race. SO they fast rtracked it - and it came back in only 6 weeks.

Then we decided we wanted to have sprinkles on the Mickey Bars....

<steady, silent stares and grins>

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: What a riot Crash, but we may get the "Jimmies" conversation again. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Howdy folks... missed the chat last night... I passed out.. Too much OT!

Last week was my first time on the chat had a blast.

Any interesting news?

:

I have a question for the DCL Pros on the board. As you may know we've never been on a DCL. We are doing a 4 day at the end of August. And I have to make sure everyone has a blast (as the DW will only go thru with the Repo if the family likes the 4 day). I've heard about getting a day room at the Atlantis (or the Comfort Inn connected to the Atlantis) and spend the day using their facilities (pool, aquarium, etc). How about Castaway Cay? Any excursions recommended or just hang by the beach? Any other tips you can share to make sure we all have a grand time on the 4day?

FYI - We are traveling in a cat6 in Aug and we have a DD(5) and DD(8).

DS was never that young when we have cruised. Wish he was though. I have heard that the day rooms are great, I think CI is cheaper than PI. We are going to do this in Sept 08 on the 5 nighter. DS took a tour of PI in 05 and loved it. DH and I did a snorkel and then walked around. Nassau was not my fav place. But we are looking forward to doing PI when we go.

CC--most if the time we have snorkled and rented rafts. We enjoy the day.
we have done the banana boats and they were a blast. We have done a snorkel tour there and it was very nice. The reef area when we were there was very shallow. It was one of our better snorkels. The cabana massage was great. They have the sting rays there, that would probably be good. DS in April is doing the botom fishing--he is really looking forward to that. He is doing that by himself--with 4 it would be really expensive.

We had only done 7 nighters and the last EB Panama and in June 05 did a 3 nighter. I found it way to short. I don't think you will have to worry about anyone not liking the cruise. DCL does a wonderful job.

It's been a good ride and I'm looking to more than double my post count on this thread!

Back from the freezer now, cooled down!

The juggling is fun, though! I get lost in the planning and feel like I'm already making my way through the Roman Forum to the Pantheon . . .

What time are walkies???? Two walkies have already happened -- another will come up in about 2 1/2 hours -- then one more before bed. More exercise than you are getting today, I would guess!
With parental duties of a son aged 8 playing on is bike then x-box and cooking his tea and running from one mess to another,????????
That would be a tough one! I really wanted to do one of those, but when I added in the airfare it was too much. Hopefully, we will be able to next time they go.
My guess, even though nearly sold out, they will not do it again until the new ships and that’s a long time.

Hazel and Angelina went to the mall, Angelina was in one of her moods, so I stayed home and finished moving all the clocks ahead, this should really get Hazel guessing when they get home.

The only clocks I didn't change were the ones on the computers and the VCR, hopefully they will change overnight.............;)

Having a teenage girl is such a BLESSING, especially when she has PMS!!!!! :scared:  :scared:  :scared:  :scared:

Keep posting keep your head down keep posting,

Hi Andrew

Dogs coming from the USA to the UK would be quarantined for six months but as we are rabies free in the UK, our dogs would NOT be quarantined if they went to the USA.

David

David thought so, happy with the rugby?

Can I play, too, Brack? Here's some pics to get us in the mood

Pity you cannot just take it off the screen like on Charlie and the chocolate factory.

Remember that from 2005 repo.

We now stand at 405,710 visits to our thread. That represents a SLOWING as of late. What gives folks? How on EARTH are we gonna make it to 300,000 ppostings by embarkation? <chuckles>

So here is the current tally of individual postings... and with THIS posting....
I mark my 1500th contribution to our particular brand of madness!

Now, Paula, if YOU (unlike Andrew) would like a picture of an Italian man in a state of undress hidden for you, I will be happy to oblige!

Well....:rolleyes1 since your taking requests...please post a yummy Italian man dressed or undressed along with the guy who was supposed to be a fine speciman onboard that someone mentioned for me PLEASE!!!!! Not sure but thought they may have said in the spa area?

So nice of Disney to cater to us women - who are the majority clients - only took them a few years. ;)

Hey Jen LOTW......I like your style Lady!!!!

:lmao: That's just my vacation style... but thanks. ;)

That was taken on the day we missed CC in 2005. Free bahama mamas for an hour or two. That picture was taken early on in the afternoon as there was still room for things besides empty & full cups on the table. :rotfl:
