I did find some nice thong shoes for formal.:thumbsup2 Will try and take a pic. I haven't found dress or gloves yet.

Found my gloves (full length, white) on Ebay for $6.95 total! They're wonderfully stretchy.

Could someone tell me what we are up to for the FE count? I wan't to make sure I have enough. I showed DH my big bin of stuff that has to go in his carry on. I explained that this was all FE and can't take a chance of it getting lost, forget about the clothes.:rotfl2: His reply was you have to be kidding me. I said nope.:confused3 Thanks

I hope it warms up for you! Camping can be fun, but it has just been so cold! Good luck and stay warm!:yay:
Well, it never really warmed up, but at least it didn't rain all weekend. We had drizzle off and on. We still had a good time any way!

I (finally) updated the kids page on the website. There are a bunch of new kids (sorry it took so long to list) and I have them broken into the new age breakout
Our DD's aren't listed!
Caropooh and Alanapapa have DD9 and DD14

Here are the shoes, doesn't touch my toe at all ! :thumbsup2 It will be the first time in heels for 9 months !!

We went back to Great Wolf for a few more hours & I was even able to get myself up the water slide steps.

I thought I was impressed with the triatholon acomplishment....but, the fact that you made it up those stairs more then once... I am truly impressed! :thumbsup2 We stayed one night until close... that one with the really steep stairs ds wanted to go on over and over again -- as soon as we could *run* up the stairs we could get on.... I could only *run* up the stairs a few times until I thought the *burn* in my thighs would cripple me! LOL!

Congratulations!!

I hope so. I think it'll look really cute by the time I add the tiara,rhinestone/pearl necklace and the long.white gloves.

Those will be icing on the cake! :thumbsup2

My SIL Christopher is so bummed he isn't able to ge - he gets to meet a few folks and says - wow - you are so lucky!!! Yeah - lucky doesn't even begin to say it!! Too much fun maybe!!

LaTanya - so sorry about your cousin's DH - my prayers are w/your family.

M - :worship: - in my prime I was good - but you are awesome!! Congrats!! Happy you had a great weekend

Little League Baseball and 100 degree temps = no, not good. DGS Matt had closing ceremonies yesterday. All the kids got trophys - he is still carrying it around!!

Oh - I'm missing B'days ---- have to go back & pirate: a :cake:

I am so jealous of you shopping diva's - I hate to shop - but Need to shop for cruise stuff. ARRRG!!!!! I do love eBay - But - for this need to try on first - so - oh Heck!! see - back to shopping!!

Good Nite - going to have dinner & have and crash!

Think I'm still missing something??!!

Good Morning everyone. Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Gotta get the kids up and ready for church then I'm off to a Kenny Chesney concert later!!:cool1: :cool1:

When he sings 'Beer in Mexico' I will be thinking of TOAL!!

Penny

okay, so jealous! Christopher and I really like his music. I also love that song for the 'cruise' reason. :beach:

My DS10 has the 3:45 100 degree game!!:scared1:

Our Little League visited Coors field for today's Rockies game and got to go on a parade around the field before the game. When our DS got behind homeplate he saw the family up in the nosebleed section and started jumping up and down. High today in Denver was about 75 degrees, sunny and no humidity. Perfect weather for baseball...sorry it's so hot there.

When my DW reads this, I know she'll be very jealous!! Lots of his songs remind us of our cruises. Since he's not coming to Denver, we want to take a long weekend next year and go see him in concert. As June says, she wants to go somewhere "warm and hot"...I had to tell her that it's either warm or hot, so how about warm and tropical!

I was wincing over the cost of 2 tuxes, if we had to get 3 I would probably follow suit:confused3

Try 4 tuxes! Actually, I think we're just going to do sport coats for the kids so they can wear the same pants as they do on the non-formal nights. Even though we're allowed 2 bags on Southwest, it's still going to be hard to keep the luggage down as we're going to be gone for 19 night!!!

Thanks to everyone who wished our DS John a happy 13th birthday this week with his :cake: wishes. We showed him the pictures and at first he thought you actually baked :cake: just for him and took a picture of it!

He told me Thursday night that he doesn't feel like a teenager. I consider that a good thing.

I wish there was a magic button to search for all posts (since your last one) where people quoted or replied to your own post. With the speed at which this thread goes, it's hard to spot replies when I can only check in once every day or two.

If anyone has replied to a post of mine that I haven't acknowledged, my apologies. ;)

I agree....sometimes I feel like I've forgotten to thank someone as well!!

Well...

let me begin by saying.... I do NOT mean to say having a GRAND weding and reception is any more or less desirable - or sound of judgement. As I see these "events" as wonderful and tremendously personal events. And thus subject to huge personal preferences.

As such - the first consideration I see as worth acknowledging is that weddings are almost always one of TWO things -----> they're primarily a thing for one or both PARENTS of the bride and groom ..... or they are something put on for just the bride and groom. As such, if parents putting it on then this can be a party thrown by a one or both sets of parents who have a certain amount of time to accumulate thier wealth - and thus may see nothing wrong with inviting a bunch of friends, family and folks from all over (including business relations and such). SO huge numbers combined with the desire to make it "fancy" ... well that just busts the bank in the eyes of many - as it's intended somewhat.... or as it's unavoidable in reality.

On the other hand - if it is an event put on by and for the kids getting married - most newly weds are not yet in thier PRIME earning years yet (and sometimes they ARE in their prime too)... and as such they may think in opposite terms too - and want smaller and more intimate gatherings. Plus there are other reasons for having smaller weddings - as in IF this were the 2nd or 3rd wedding for one or both getting remarried - so they may see no need to redo a large gathering. I've seen that before.

At any rate - my point is it's JUST FINE to have EITHER a small and intimate wedding ... large or collossal type event ... or a medium sized dog and pony show. We'll defer to private asides as to whom is which. < wink >

NOW what was I thinking about when I read your reply was ... your comments made me think of OUR wedding. We sort of insisted on NOT taking money from money from either of our parents for the thing - and we sort of settled on a mid way point in total numbers of folks. Thus compromising in allowing each set of parents only so many seats to invite THIER guests. We retained control - and we sort of held a disdain for guests who skipped the cerimony for just attending the reception - so we sort of declined to disclose WHERE the reception was by declaring that info would be given AT the wedding. I can't stand it when too many skip witnessing the wedding and just show to eat.

SO - we had a mid size number and some degree of control. We also had 2 receptions - one locally in Thousand Oaks (HEY Roger... we had it at yer Country Club!)... and another in Honolulu ... and we did all kinds of things "our way" to economize. I drove a company delivery van down to the wholesale flower mart 1 or 2 nites (can't remember which it was) before the wedding to puick up a little over $1000 in flowers which we then assembled into everything floral for the wedding. We thus had fresh flowers all over but pulled it off for a tolerable sum. We had a freinds and a couple of "key volunteers" in a garage doing everything ... including myself some of the time. Plus we KNEW the folks from Hawaii would APRECIATE a recepton with a realy good meal ... so we just had a Chinese Banquet in Honolulu. That was perfect and I thought it was reasonably priced. Whereas the Country Club in Thousand Oaks cost a bit more and provided more decorum and "set piece" appearnce elements.... and LESS grub.

In the end .... there were many other areas in which we quietly saved or shaved a dollar to make it fly ( champaigne from Costco, guest gifts custom made and imported from Thailand which were donated by Alicias' Dad .... a nice touch .... one of the thingies we conceeded to accept as suport in kind and so on .... > - and we were proud to have essentially pulled it off ourselves - and "our way". I think that conclusively "no one was surprised". However, I don't think I've ever seen another wedding reception like ours again since. < wink >

Overall .... I was very satisfied with the economy of the thing - while also keeping a modicium of intimacy in the numbers attending.

We too had 2 receptions, well actually 3. We did one for just us right after the ceremony. One at our house, an 'open house' where we invited everyone we both worked with and my family. And another one in Chicago with DH's family/family friends. We had like 70 people at each one! Well actually everyone was really invited to both since we put the info on our wedding announcements that we sent out a few months before getting married.

Well, looks like we will be moving to the shunned section of the ship. Can't justify the expediture for 3 tuxes or extra packing room for three in the limited luggage.....

So we will not be doing tuxes for the formal nights....

Welcome to the "shunned section":thumbsup2

I will have a difficult enough time to get DH in a sports jacket,.. so hopefully we won't offend anyone..

We'll be joining you in the Shunned Section! My DH is the same way... In fact, so am I! I don't even know how to do makeup or my hair (well not really) and we both can count the times that we've dressed up since we met on one hand! All were for weddings and funerals :lmao:

I am sending out prayers to all who need them as we are in need as well. DFIL has Parkinsons, we were to take him on our cruise last Jan. with us but due to complications we ended up going without him. Since then he has a difficult time with his "systems". On Thursday he failed a Barium Serum (swallowing) test. They actually stopped the test early as they were too afraid my FIL would aspirate his food. The only option for DFIL is a feeding tube. He is still at home with DMIL but I am not sure how much longer she will be able to take care of him. I am not sure how a feeding tube works, all i do know is my FIL loves to eat so this will be a difficult process for him & us.

DD has a feeding tube and we've had no problems with it since we got used to it. Though there's a big difference between a squirmy baby unable/unwilling to swallow and a grown man that enjoys food! Hope it goes well!
