Drive by posting to say Hi. It was a nice relaxing day today. The kids went swimming and I got to finish reading my book. I should have done some laundry but..... you know how that is when you're reading a good book. don't want to put it down.

We are off to the baseball field. Gusty winds right now - the flying dust clouds should be a lot of fun...............NOt.

Be safe everyone.

Penny

Hi everyone --

I'm going to be away from tomorrow morning through Thursday evening, and may not have access to my computer . . . so I haven't disappeared in any sinister way, am off having fun.

If there are any changes/additions to the FE list, PM me and I will post a new updated list on Friday.

It seems hit and miss as to how much rain some places got. We got several inches already and another batch just ended and more are on the way (oops, just starting again). But the Kenosha area (on the Wisconsin/Illinois border) seems to have missed the storms entirely.

Glad all is well, looks like Chicago area is under the gun now too, hope our southern neighbors are safe!

Oh, just heard that a building has collapsed on the south side of Milwaukee due to rain and they closed a portion of I-94 due to flooding.

We have had a few tornados on the South suburbs... but things have been evil... it has been raining and thundering on and off since late afternoon..just cancelled the tornado watch..

I'm beat...

Went to the gym this morning and did a spinning class and then for some stupid, stupid reason stayed for an hour long salsa aerobics class too...

Later this afternoon, DH and i went over to our development's pool for the first time. (gotta get "some" mileage from those HOA dues...They sure aren't doing anything else)

Got to go now. DH and i rented a redbox movie (actually it was free with code)...

Just wanted to ketchup so i don't have too much to read tomorrow...

Scored big today. Went shopping for DS. Got him 2 tropical prints shirts that he can use for casual nights, $8 each. Got him some new swim trunks, $9.

Then remembered that my dad had a long tux jacket. Well, that's the way I remembered it, I thought it was tails. Turns out it was an old western long suit coat. DS really loved it, but it's too big.

Decided to hit a few thrift stores and scored big. Found a tux that fits him well (hopefully he's done growing for the next 2 months). It was marked $39.99. But it was a blue tag and today blue tags were 50% off!!! Got it for $21.64 out the door. :cool1:

Just need a tux shirt, which I remember Micheal's carries some times, so I'll be checking them out tomorrow. And still need a few tie and cumberbund sets, will get those from ebay.

great buys Monica.. congrats on the super find..

The weather around here has just been strange the last few days - everything is JUST missing us. South suburbs get hit, North suburbs get hit, we get a couple sprinkles! I keep watching the radar because of the forcasts and tornado warnings and all the storms just stear around us - I'm not complaining, but it is just weird!

Oh, just heard that a building has collapsed on the south side of Milwaukee due to rain and they closed a portion of I-94 due to flooding.

We now have standing water in our backyard too.

Yuck! I hope no one was hurt!

All this talk of paying for the 2nd bag of luggage had me scared! So I went on NWA to see if I was grandfathered in. They are charging $100 for the second bag! :scared1: So I finally found in the FAQ section, that they will honor your checking a 2nd bag if the tkts were bought before March 2008. So I printed that up, highlighted it and printed up a copy of my reciept with the jpurchase date highlighted! Don't want any nasty surprises the day DCL kicks us of the ship!

For the 7 day we have 3 large bags for the 2 of us, so was thinking the same way.

For the Girl Scout fun patch swap, I found out today the that Detroit council is changing the name to SE MI, so there are a bunch of patches that are on clearance for 5 cents a patch! I'll have to go check them out on my lunch hour Monday!

$100! :scared1:

3 bags for the two of you??? It usually takes one large bag for mine & 6dd's clothes for a 7 nt Disney trip (cruise/parks) that includes 2 outfits per day.....

It sounds like you ran into a deal for the patches! LOL!

I would always choose reading over laundry! :lmao:

I hate sitting outside in the wind. I always end up with a horrible sinus headache the next day. Other then that have fun at the game! LOL!

WOW! You were finding hte deals today!!!!

17dd wants to buy a new formal gown..... I told her she had to wait until July since that is when I have found formals for up to 90% off...... Her favorite is one I bought that was 75% off but, it was still a deal! :thumbsup2

Wht I'm talking about was the arrow on the page where you see ALL the threads- so you could find the thread you want and click the arrow there. I"m not sure where you're seeing the arrow now- but the one I'm talking about isn't there anymore. It wasn't there very long but I sure enjoyed it. LOL I'll try to find the arrow you're talking about. Where do you see it once you open the thread? what page of the thread do you to go- to find it? (first page/last page or what?)

(ps, I'm not talking about the little blue arrows in quotes that take you back to that post that is being quoted- I'm talking about the darker blue arrow that used to be on the threads page- where all the threads were. and you could click it on each thread and it would take you to the last page you'd read in that thread the last time you were on the board)

I know which arrow you're talking about. It comes and goes. I have no idea why it isn't there all the time.

I just checked my CP and it's there for some of my subscribed threads, but not others. :confused3

It’s there for this thread.

I think it's only there if there have been new posts to a particular thread since the last time you logged on to the DIS. (maybe? :confused3 )It's on a couple of my active subscribed threads, but not on the ones that haven't been posted on for a while.

I think the question has been answered. No new posts and no arrow. I always go to my user cp to pull up this thread and use the blue arrow to continue where I left off.

Kung Fu Panda was good. Would of rather seen Indy, but dd liked it.

For those of you with kids issues, they do have bed liners that aren't fitted and have a soft fleece like material on one side. DD still uses goodnights, but every now and then they leak.

They called it drydown when I had to buy it for baby#1. It is sold at Burlington Coat Factory and at most retailers in the baby dept. Altho I don't think it is called that anymore.I used it with both babies under the sheet.

Had to share this little tid bit today. We went to a friend's kid's birthday party this morning and when we got home the mail was here. There, right on top, is a packaged from DCL for my fiance. Remember, I'm not supposed to know anything. So I yelled "Honey, there's something here for you, but my hands are full." When he gets to the mail box he says to me "I know you're not that stupid. You saw it, didn't you?" Of course, I said I saw the Mickey and that I knew it was from some kind of vacation club type thing through Disney, but left it at that. He as so angry and bummed that I had any idea at all.

So...now I'm allowed to know that we're doing something Disney. He's trying to convince me that we're doing the Disney portion AFTER our HM. Getting the rest of our him should be easy! I'm off to pry info from him now...have a great Saturday! :yay:

You are sooo bad! I really like this girl!! :lmao:

Happy Birthday Cherie!!!!

Hi everyone!

Just home from dinner with Stacey, Chris, Roger and families. Had a nice time! Everyone is very nice and it's great putting faces with names.

Going to get some sleep as tomorrow is another long day!

Have a great Sunday!

Cheryl...what exactly is that you do?

I actually look for certain trailers or previews to make sure they are on the new released movies. I also do sneak peaks(a new movie to be released soon), audience reations to trailers, capacity checks, comprehensive checks(view movie to make sure it is a good print),check to see which version of a trailer is playing, handing out surveys and anything else the studios give me to do!!

Yesterday I hired people to view each print of Kung Fu Panda to make sure the quality was good. I did first shows(I had to make sure certain trailers were on the movie at the very first screens of the day, and I had to hand out surveys after certain screens!!!

Does any of this make sense??:confused3 :confused3

A question John asks (very quietly in his head) over and over.....:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Poor John never knows what I am going to do!!!:hyper: :hyper: I keep him guessing and amused after 46 years of knowing each other.:faint: :faint: I keep his life full of surprises.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I got tuxedo rentals ordered for the boys and myself. I was worried about the sizing for my large one, but they called to clarify, and it sounds like we should be good to go. We'll be packing some safety ppins and duct tape too, just in case.

Never leave home without the duct tape!!;)

Most of the airlines are not grandfathering.

I would suggest you get something in writing that you are grandfathered or expect to pay.

Here is my discussion and reply with Airtran CS:

I think I am on their list too.....

troublemaker.jpg

OK...so, for those with Disney transfers, we can only check one bag to the airport. What becomes of the second bag if we get those bags, "grandfathered" with the airline? :confused3

That is what I would like to know!!! :rolleyes1 What happens when we are leaving our bags out in the hall to be put on a plane for the trip home???:confused3 Will DCL just leave the extra bags in the hall???:furious: :furious:

We have had a few tornados on the South suburbs... but things have been evil... it has been raining and thundering on and off since late afternoon..just cancelled the tornado watch..

We did not get any rain here!!:(

We could do well togther!!! Great bargain Monica!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

We did not get any rain for the last week here!!:( :(

Attention people of the Midwest!!!

Details of a mini meet on July 12th will be announced by Pamela(pdarrah) later today!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3: :dance3: :yay: :yay: popcorn::

Uh, I don't think that's the problem in this case. There have definitely been more posts since the last time here- like pages and pages and pages and PAGES AND PAGES (did I mention pages? :lmao: )of posts added to this thread since each time I leave and come back!

OMG $100? omg omg omg that is ridiculous!

I didn't know they have bed liners... that would have been good to know last time but fortunately our child in goodnights just happened to not leak during the last cruise....

WOW- I wish i could find a tux that cheap and then I'd make DH wear it! that is super cheap!

I think the question has been answered. No new posts and no arrow. I always go to my user cp to pull up this thread and use the blue arrow to continue where I left off.

Um.... question not answered I don't think? because there has definitely been new posts each time I come back to disboards- on this thread. are you kidding me? as if.... LOL
that was my point- that it was so hard to find where I left off, on this very busy (obviously!) thread because i couldn't find my last post. So that explanation of no arrow if no new posts isn't working for me...... becasue there are so many new posts and pages of posts- I can't even find my last post. It would take me like an hour to go page by page back until I find my post. that was the whole point of me saying I couldn't find my last post. LOL
where are y'all seeing the blue arrow? maybe it doesn't show for everyone? how weird.

Oh and I was gonna say-sorry to those getting too much rain! We haven't had any here- not that I'm complaining (except the water bill to keep our grass from dying is gonna kill us LOL) we've had some really hot sunny weather lately. hope the rain stops before you guys get TOO flooded! If you aren't already. :( OmG I know what it's like to have too much rain and flooded backyard with a foot of standing water/pool flooded with dirt and rain from the flooding, etc. :(

Everyone goes to bed at a decent hour around here don't they? :rotfl2:
no one is ever up late with me! I'm the only nightowl? sigh.........

So, I'm like getting excited about the cruise but then everytime I really think about it I get kinda sad because the closer we get to the cruise- the more I think about WHEN IT'S OVER! It's gonna be a major bummer... all this waiting and once it's over- well it's over. wahhhhhhhhhhhh

Is that pathetic? to already be thinking about when it's over when it hasn't even started yet?

Well... I'm caught up to page 71 posting 1059... < groans > ... and THIS is what happens when I drop off a couple days to travel and poke along in KETCHUP efforts.

At any rate - I got back from Vegas a couple of days ago - and I got beat up and made a "deposit" to the "Bank o Nevada"... I left having lost a net $7. < silent grinnin'". So seriously, I had a good trip - but was sort of tired on my return yesterday.

As far as the waterproof goes, there are a fair amount of products that can help you make any camera water safe:

420_expanded.jpg

There was a fair amount of discussion about this on the original thread, look around here

So here was my Mk II water-resistant "Zip Lock Freezer bag" .... only I actually used a sandwich bag for my pocket sized digicam. NOT the DSLR as illustrated in this image. Although I am tempted to try this out ... maybe.

You've just been "mooned"

The Olympus is on the higher end price wise of the point and shoot cameras, but it is dropable, freezable and submersible.

There are two versions, one good to 10 feet underwater, one to 33 (and similar drop/freeze level differences). One runs $300 the other $400, but you can get both substantially cheaper by shopping around watching sales (save $50 to $75 ish).

I have one of the aquapacs as does Roger (Goofyonthehiseas) and we both had good results with it. I would post pix, but can't access photo sharing at work.....

aquapac.jpg

This has GOT to be better than "making my own" out of a glad freezer bag...?

not if you got stuck with the 40 sec rule

go wenches

here's a consolation prize for the guys

OK Monica... you got us Swabbies this time....

applause.gif

But can you make it TWO in a row with the 2000th coming up?

I took out my Romper Room Magic Mirror....I see Tom, I see Sk8, I see Joel, I see Cheryl, I see Roger, I see Arlene, I see Coral, I see Kristina, I see Diane, I see Lorri

rca-tk41(wjac2).jpg

Now - it just so happens Alicia was ON an episode of Romper Room when she was a little kid back in Pittsburgh! She remembers feeling embarassed when she spiller her milk carton on the show!

magic_mirror3.gif

We all decided that it wasn't fair that the little ones got to dress like princesses and us grown ups get left out. So we decided that on one of the formal nights we would go all out with tiaras, gloves, sparkles...etc. There's actually 2 formal nights on this cruise, and according to our poll, looks like everyone wants to do this on the 2nd formal night.

Oh boy..! Please count Alicia in on this!

I STILL THINK THAT IS GREAT!!!! THAT IS WHAT MAKES FOR GREAT STORIES AND FUN MEMORIES! Dont' downplay how poor we all were when we married; it's a great hope for our progress into the future! HANG TOUGH.
Gosh, we've come a long way!

This made me pause to reflect on something I was chatting about with old friends tonite. It seems we were sort talking about fancy weddings - how in one case there were 1600+ people attending one unusually extravegant wedding - < wow > .... and in another case the wedding was paid for by the kids and really quite modest. And then essentially - it boiled down to how there was a grand progression of there always being someone else who had greater wealth then so and so - and how behind everyone there always was someone else who had a little less.

13839.jpg

So what does it really matter in the end? Only that there was so much that money dose not buy ... and that happiness and good fortune was ultimately a "relative" consideration. IE, someone dragging in more then they could spend was sometimes quite unhappy... while we had seen others dragging in far less than "us" ... and was seemingly quite happy!
< sigh >

In the end - I walked away musing how "relative" everything was....

OK... I think this is as far as I'm getting in catching up tonite folks. G'nite! :faint:

I'm still here! Well... I WAS here ..... and now I'm not!

Good nite folks!
