I have always had the same problem with ds12. I always thought they were just sold out of all of the slims. :confused3

I have usually had good luck with Old Navy and Gap, because in addition to carrying slim sizes, they also have the adjustable wait bands in many of their pants for boys.

I will probably pack a couple pairs of khaki pants and his black suit. he can mix, match, and reuse shirts for dinner. We are also planning on doing laundry since he still uses his clothes as a napkin :headache:

Personally, I think nice shorts for your ds on nights that are not Formal or Semi-Formal would be fine. But then again, what do I know....I am in the shunned section!

I have a similar problem - 10 year old DS who weighs only 60 pounds and is 54 inches tall and who his dr refers to as "one of gods skinniest creatures". I did find 10 slim pants in Super Walmart for him that have the adjustable waist. They were very reasonably priced (like $12 or so) They came in black, navy and khaki. I bought one of each pair and he also has many pairs of the long plaid quick silver shorts that I bought polo's to match. He will also wear those to dinner some nights.

Thank you Deanna and Ginny. I'll try both Old Navy and Walmart. I tend to forget about Old Navy - there is one about 10 miles from here, but in a direction I don't usually go. I tried Walmart a month or so ago, but I'll give it another shot! I'd like to at least find a pair of khakis and maybe a pair in Navy - it would at least give him a little variety. At least he won't have to join the shunned section if he ends up in shorts! DH found a tux for him on eBay - it hasn't come yet, but the waist should only be a little big and we can always take it in a little if we have to.

Try these sites. Never bought from them before, so check theire return policies first. :)
www.swimsuitsforall.com
www.everythingbutwater.com
www.swimoutlet.com
www.zappos.com (great return policy!)

Thanks, I'll go look at em.

You can also return to any Sears store. I have been moderately happy w/ their suits. The girls do seem to peel quickly. I always buy 2 bottoms for them.

I resemble that remark. :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

I would never go on that road...ever.

I think I've been on it. The craziest roads I think were in New Zealand where they have these really really really long one lane bridges.

Eddie Bauer has nice *long torso* suits! I used to always have to buy 2 sizes larger then my *regualr* clothes size until I found *long torso*!

Thanks for the tip!

Are you buying them too big? I've not had a tankini top float up...... I have had a bikini top come off at a waterpark.... I taught my dd's to hold on to their tops on the slides!

I didn't think it was too big... It definately isn't too big now so I'll have to try it again maybe

You are NOT the only one!!! Did you watch the DCL show that was on at noon???? There was a comercial that FLOORED me!!!! I had to grab the remote and change it fast!!! A man/woman (I think they were husband/wife) sitting on either side of the bed talking about the children being busy (or gone, I can't remember) and they are unbuttoning their shirts.... It was an ad for a lubercant...... At NOON on SUNDAY while watching a DISNEY show on the TRAVEL channel!!!!:scared1:  :scared1:

Geez! That's bad! DD is only 17mo so I don't think she'd understand that stuff yet, but we still DVR EVERYTHING. Even sports games - just start watching about 30mins into it and hope DFIL doesn't call :lmao: . We can't stand commercials anymore at all.

:lmao: I did go to bed..I was watching TV and DH says..Chris just posted to you..so I came over and started this! And I still lost! :rotfl2:

Then I went to bed :)

:lmao: :lmao:

So..as I am checking ot our traffic site...I see this:

There's something you don't see everyday!

That's great! We do actually have a bunch of ducks and geese that live at the pond in the center of town. Every once in a while they forget they're suposed to stay in the pond and wonder the streets instead.

I have a similar problem - 10 year old DS who weighs only 60 pounds and is 54 inches tall and who his dr refers to as "one of gods skinniest creatures". Just a thought. Old Navy had toddler clothes that have an adjustable waistband maybe they have them for older kids too.

Hi everyone..

Could you do me a favor and think good thoughts for DH..he just called..and said someone hit him on the freeway (brand new car - believe it or not..he was hit only a few weeks back and we just had the car fixed!) He is waiting for the police to show and he says his back hurts...he says he is fine but stuck on the freeway at the moment. I am nervous that he is stuck on the freeway..will be glad when the police arrive and he manages to get off the freeway and home. Says the car is still running but damaged.

I looked on the traffic site in our area and found him!

Oy, a Monday morning fender bender. I hope he is OK. Better get the back checked out.
My friend here at work was in Walmart and heard them paging the owner of her car. some woman slammed into her car and drove off. Bystander got the license and she went to the police station. They called the woman up and gave her the 2 options, Ticket or pay for the damages.
Gotta get back to :surfweb:

He has an appt with our Dr for this afternoon..he says his back is spasming.

I hope he is okay Des. I was rear-ended years ago, and had to sleep on the couch for months because I would wake up in so much pain. For some reason the couch (I think because it was so cushy) made it feel better. :confused3

I am truly sorry your husband appears injured in this accident. I used to think that insurance would bridge near all difficulties arising from an accident - and generally it should. Although it does not make the inconveniences and injuries go instantly away - it helps deflect most of the financial questions... if ya know what I mean.

I was hit by a car while riding a bicycle for a charitable fund raiser (MS)... and it broke my hip and wrist... plus crunched an expensive bike into so much junk. TO make a long story shorter - in the end I was healed, had my medical bills paid for and I had a little left over $ from the insurance payout for the trouble I had. Unfortunately, there were a few things NOT quite made whole - which I won't dwell on - but I'm thankful things went the way they went. IE, things could have been worse for me ... and then it could even be FAR worse than THAT too.

Try and consider - things often are NOT as bad as we fear - nor when we're excited .... they are NOT as good as had hoped. SO - try to remain as calm as possible and give it some time. Things will turn out OK... with time.

I love it!!!! What an excellent gift he has!

I love it  ! The Mickey head antenna bopper is a great touch also.

I see a-a-a-a-a-a...... LUCURATIVE Syndication contract in your son's future....

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
That is really funny!

It is VERY good! Does he enter his stuff in any contests??? I can't wait to show this to my kids!!!

Thanks so much for the feedback! He will be thrilled to see such a favorable response to his artwork.

He has not enter too many contests, but one of his drawings was chosen as the oficially design for the State of Ohio School Boards Assoc. "Holiday" card last year. He also had a design featured on the yearbook cover, and had a piece chosen to be sent to an exhibit in Sayama, Japan a couple of years ago.

He sometimes gets down on himself because he has never been good at sports, but we try so hard to emphasize to him that God has given him such a wonderful gift. As adults, we know sports is not everything, but it's hard to convince a young boy of that.

Thank you ..I am trying to remember that. Unfortunately, DH has to put up with my long time fears of car accidents which is why I am not longer a passenger in a vehicle (which is also why I am freaking out about our excursions on this trip) When I was 21..I was in a really bad car accident..I broke a window with my head (no..that didn't cause my craziness..it was already there :lmao: ), whiplash, tore ligaments in my back, and most of all when my head snapped back and broke the window..I recieved a blood clot in my thyroid which after two years required surgery to remove (they tried to drain it for 2 years first but a test came back cancerous so they removed it)..I also crushed my knee in the door...just a peachy all around thing. We were stopped on the freeway and a DUI woman plowed into us going 70 mph. ..no insurance of course and not even her car. Anyways...as a result..I flip out if I have to be a passenger. These excursions on this trip are actually the first ones I have taken in almost 8 years on a cruise. Outside of ones that I catch at the dock and are a boat. So if you catch me looking a little green on an excursion bus..rest assured..I am okay..just a little stressed!

Yeah...

... I was hit by the HIT AND RUN driver in Honolulu last August. That guy sort of got away - and the owner has a lame excuse for TRYING to avoid responsibility (which they CANNOT do legally) - and it seems my UNINSURED motorist insurance will pay for the damages to the rental car and go after the registered owner.

ecconfetv5.jpg

I think it's good that witnesses stepped forward to prevent this DISHONEST person from getting away. And frankly, they should have been cited for HIT AND RUN as well as pay for the damages.

You're still here ... yeah?

And you'll endure in stride!

Alredy you're scheduling tours and such - and tomorrow you'll be doing even more -

- and stronger then ever to show for it!

Well, I'm officially "not very" old (42 or is it 43??) . . and I concur 100%. My kids pretty much only watch movies (we love veggie tales) and little else. We did watch Extreme Home Makeovers for awhile. I just don't see anything on TV that would be supportive of the kind of kids we desire our kids to be. Either it is too violent, has many s** connotations, or is just fluff (no thoughts needed . . .LOL). However, we do discuss this topics and it really burns me that even Rush Limbaugh is allowed to cuss occasionally (and the kids point it out, too . ..).

I must say we do watch sports, though. That has been a challenge. Have you tried to sit through a major league baseball or football (not soccer for our overseas friends) game on TV? The beer and drug commercials and even car commericals can be risque . . . On of the parents has to sit though the game (DH loves this) to turn off the commericals so DS13 can enjoy the games.

Okay, down from my soap box . . .I miss the Lone Ranger and the Beverly Hill Billies . . .LOL:hyper::hyper::hyper:

Can I say I really miss Barney!! I am perfectly fine w/ ultra sweet vs. trash talking mouths out there now.

Bummer! I have rear-ended twice on the freeway. Once totalled and the 2nd one in a bigger car fared better. The thing that helped me the most was to soak in a hot tub for quite a while. I had huge purple bruises covering my chest from the seatbelt.

I have no desire to watch that. I did see the other commercial yesterday on the travel channel and got distracted and saw the end of what it was and thought yuck! I don't know about things anymore. DD use to say cr*p alot and I would tell not to stop. Then we are at a Girl Scout function and her learder was saying it. I said to her, that's where she got it from and the leader says it's not a bad word! I said not really, but it's not something to use in polite conversation!:lmao:
I will not let the girls use that word either. "Butt" any slang word for any bodily function is off limit as well.

Oh good Lord! Here's the dreaded question....How much?

The more you buy the cheaper they are :rotfl2:

But on the serious side, ours averaged out at around $18 before tax and shipping. Such is the price of custom stuff.

Andy

Schools are closed here but because of the flooding, not the heat. State of emergency is Southern Wisconsin :worried:

The main lake in Wisconsin Dells is spilling over it's banks. They fear they will lose the lake completely. Three houses have fallen in. The lake is rushing toward the Wisconsin River (along with the three houses!). :scared1:

:scared1: glad to hear you are all ok though

Our schools had early dismissal today and will again tomorrow due to the heat wave here in the Northeast

Any of you out there who are size 16-20 - any suggestions on swimsuits. I am having one heck of a time. Thinking of just getting one from Speedo online.

Same thing goes for a formal dress. 1. I hate everything I am finding. 2. most things in the women's section is not my style.

I have been seeing a trainer for 2 months now and I have noticed any change in how my clothes fit. Last year before the med cruise I did notice a change and was able to get into the dresses I had in my closet, but thinking that is not going to be the case this year. I am going to give it till the end of the month, but then I think I need to bite the bullet and get somethig new.

Where is an icon pulling ones hair out when you need it. BTW don't do online shopping - one of those that need to try it on before purchasing.

I hate shopping for swimsuits  (what woman doesn't?). I found a very nice selection at Penneys, not too frumpy. Do you have Kohls where you live? They usually have some pretty nice things and and fairly reasonable prices(I have a Walmart budget). I am,to put it bluntly, short and fat! Wearing an 18W in pants,16W if they're made with spandex. Can't wear many things from the Ladies section(tops are too small) so I have to be creative. And formal wear is a whole other story! It runs a lot smaller. Just try not to get hung up on the size, I know that's hard to say because I do it all the time. I used to be a size 1-3, XS-S and 102lbs.....I'd be tickled if I was a size 14 and 140lbs now!! Anyways, try on some things that you wouldn't normally think about trying, you might be surprised! And I like to bring someone with me,usually Mom and they can give you some real feedback.
Good Luck!

"Barney doesn't come on mommy's TV"
That was my standard statement when DS was little and wanted to watch Barney. He was in school, maybe 1st or 2nd grade before he knew I was just avoiding watching that show.

Also had him believing in the "music truck" until he was 6 and a friend was painting our house. The ice cream truck came by and he bought himself and DS a treat. :headache: Wonder how long I could have kept that one up?
