8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #8

How cute!! And she is VERY talented! I am going to tell the kids about that...they'll get a big kick out of it.

I'll be packing drawing pads for the kids in their backpacks they will carry on the plane. Kylie will draw *some*, but Drew would NOT survive for 17 days without drawing. It is like nurishment to him, he has to draw everyday. On our last cruise he sat up on deck with his drawing pad several times and entertained himself all afternoon.

Do you go through TONS of paper? My DS9 (Darrah) draws, paints, colors, etc CONSTANTLY. He has a very wide range of interests, but the one constant since he was a toddler is art. I even keep paper in the car since he will go nuts if he has an idea and can't draw it right there and then. For some of his "sketches" I've been able to get him to use the backside of paper from my office, but for the "good drawings" we still go through a ton of paper. The worst part is convincing him that we can't keep everything! The house would be full of paper by now if we kept it all

Phew! Another thing out of the way! Got our flights to LAX and from MCO booked last night! We arrive in LAX at 8:42AM on the 17th and leave MCO at 2:15PM on the 1st!
It's hard to believe that last Saturday I wasn't going on the cruise and now I'm booked, paid in full, have flights, transfers and excursions booked! WOO HOO!!!!

One of the reasons that DH wanted to move was that he was FINALLY going to let us have a pool (he has never allowed a pool, swingset or trampoline since those are the top 3 reasosn kids end up in the ER) and then we bought a house with no pool! But, his parents are building next door and they are building a HUGE pool -- I had a gate put in our fence when it was built.

There are too many pages for me fully cover ging backwards... try as I might I've got somewhat limited time - and I'm a bit confused about what I've covered and what I've not. SO permit me this bit of short cutting and please accept my humble belated well wishes... Oh well... I'm feeling sort of moody and agitated all of a sudden for reasons that shall remain unspecified for now ... so I'm in need of a day-dream like escape = I think I'll go ebaying a bit then return here maybe....

Saw on the Today show this morning...........the Mad money guy was predicting gas to be 5.00 a gallon before summer is over with. Interesting how bad the economy is getting that Disney's last quarter earnings were up 22 %.

Busy next couple of days.........I am having my walk through today for house. I have a list of 7 things that still need to be done.

We are having a block party on Sunday. I am going to start my campaign to get votes for board of director position for our neighborhood association.

I really want this because we need change and instead of complaining I am going to do something about it.

Wish me luck ! One thing I have on my side is I started the neighborhood watch.

Aw thanks Mary Ann! I'll let him know! I know everybody was gearing up for the big night so it was easily missed.

My DH is president of out Home Owners Association. It is a tough non-paid job. Poor Bill's entire day was shot yesterday when he received an email early yesterday from the city stating the pool did not have the proper permit. They wanted him to chain the pool- yeah- right before Memorial Day weekend. He spent all day doing what we pay our management company to do.
Then someone got mad that there were kids parking in our neighborhood so they took a big chain link lock and locked the gates. Great- now no one can get in. We were at dinner when the phone calls started pouring in. Since it was at night we had to leave and got to Lowe's to get bolt cutters and take care of it ourselves. We have a lot of things come up like that that he ends up dealing with. At this exact moment he is meeting w/ the landscape company to say "Get better or you are out".
Bill also owns a software business and is a very involved Dad. He is busy!

Yep- most IT people are not the best people persons. I was very surprised when Bill decided he wanted to do this.
On the yard issues: We have received multiple awards for our landscaping and yesterday we received a note our yard was unsightly. Our yard is great! Our management company is a little odd.

Pamela is also working on the navigator.

I wasn't planning to go so far as to include individual names. That's a lot of work piled onto a lot of work + things change & someone would be inadvertantly left out & hate Pamela & I forever. If someone wants to take this on, more power to you & I'd be happy to attach it to the file, but it's more than I can handle. Since the navigator will be available to print more than 2 weeks before we cruise, I would suggest you print it early and highlight the things you are interested in or signed up for, like many of us do with the DCL Navigators.

I'm planning to design 2 navigators:

1. A big, 8.5x11, many pages Navigator including:

Onboard activities with times, places, contact person & cabin ## door to check for updates once we board. Arranged by date.

Pirate Excursions - things like Zip-line & Aruba snorkeling. Basically non-DCL excursions that were organized on the thread.

Fish Extender - participants with cabin numbers

2. I am also planning to do a mini-navigator that you can fold up and put in a backpack, camera bag etc. This will only have the activity names, times & locations arranged by date. I'm not sure what the format will be until I have all the information - I'm going for small, so bring your reading glasses.

3. Drink of the Day Passport - I'm designing a 4x6 for each day to note the Drink of the Day, where you had it, who you were with, and your bartender. I wanted to make a booklet, but the some-assembly-required part is hangin' me up since everyone who wants one will have to print it themselves. If you print it you can use these for scrapbooking or put them in a photo album. I plan to buy a cheap 4x6 photo album and and stick the passport page in one pocket and my photo w/ friends & bartender in the other pocket when I get home.

4. Kid's Cruise Journal...lots and lots of people are working on pages and sending their ideas. I will design the pages so there is some uniformity.

All will be available in .pdf form for you to print.

Thanks to you & Pamela for doing the navigators. That will be invaluable!

Just a drive by rant. Drove to DHs dr for 10:30 appt. Oops, we forgot to put him in the "system". Could you come back say around 12:30. and maybe youcould have an early lunch? Yup at 10:30 right after Breakfast. We came home. It's only 25 min. So now getting ready for the 2nd trip. This office is usually behind. Great. At least nothing planned today. Done. sorry.

Is it like that at Disneyland too? Just curious. I mean it's close so I'm hoping you'll say the weather is the same? That would be totally awesome. I was fearing a flashback to how it was when I took the kids (without DH then also) to WKW in June a few years ago. the heat was almost unbearable (but somehow you get thru it since you're at WKW LOL) That would be awesome to have that kind of weather on this trip that is also me and kids alone until DH gets there Saturday!

Sorry...Disneyland is hot..Although they are only about 20-25 minutes apart..Disneyland is definitely inland and will be hot in August.

Yes, DL will be anywhere from the mid-80s to 100s. San Pedro being on the water usually has early morning low clouds (fog) even in the summer time. There are occasions where it can be hot but on average it is very pleasant in the summer time.

My DS broke his elbow on a trampoline.

I nearly fainted when DS came home from playing earlier this year and told me he had been doing flips on his friend's trampoline. This was BEFORE he had gotten clearance from the doctor to return to physical activity after the skull fracture. Fortunately nothing happened, but he was not allowed back on the trampoline until the doctor gave the all clear. Even then, I made him wear his skateboard helmet!

I won't let DD6 get on her friend's trampoline despite her objections. And with good reason -- I had to pick her up from school this morning because she fell on the sidewalk going into school and has a bump on her head and will have a black eye. She has NO grace whatsoever. So much for her dreams of being a ballerina.

Hey all - seems Cabo and I have this hate/love relationship. We get here and our sea kayak excursion was cancelled. In fact all sea and water excursions were cancelled due to rough sea conditions.

Story of my life. They have just opened all tenders to the public and I guess I'll just have to go shopping then. Thought I had my fill of candy shopping yesterday but hey - God doesn't need to hit me over the head twice - guess I'll follow the clues and go candy shopping!

We are boarding at Acapulco at 1:00 and departing at 1:01 !!!
