I know how you feel. I donate on a regular basis as well. After we went to Costa Maya I was so upset that I couldnt donate for a year. I told them I didnt go off the dock area... But alas, I am able to donate again. I even donated at Mass General when my dad was in surgery. They have their own blood bank there since they use so many pints a day during the normal course of surgeries.. So I guess after reading your post, I better get to the RED CROSS so I can donate again before we sail..

I used to donate in college... There's nowhere easy to do it here in this dinky town though.

Did you do black or white ???? I think the white looks great , as you can see in this picture , on our door during the Med Repo I had one that said ARRRRRR next cruise ....lol Its kinda blurry , but you get the Idea

OK how do you know how to do the ears? Like how big should they be?? I love what you did to the number, BTW!

Wow..we are having a HUGE thunder storm right now...thunder that shakes the house and sounds like a gun going off. DH is stuck at work..DD is freaking out and I am trying to assure the furrkids everything is okay :rotfl:

We are expecting rain for the next 3 days!

Aaaww poor furrkids. Ours are the same way. My 2 were freaked out last night because we lost power for an hour and it was REALLY REALLY windy. Today we have had rain and some wind and some snow... yep you read that right, SNOW in MAY what the heck? 2 days of record heat and then snow? Must be the global warming...:lmao:

Our storms are supposed to be here Monday...... I can't wait.... 6dd is FREAKED by storms! UGH! She takes after my MIL. I like a good rain storm. ;)

As I recall, if you lay the shirt down and measure across it and then 2x then it would give you the measurement???

We will do the black altho whenever DH wears black, he looks like he has been in a snowstorm.

I don't know. Did I misunderstand that? It sure made more sense what someone else posted recently- it put me and DH in the L size range.. which sounds about right (on another note I did some measuring and just realized that DH and I have the same chest measurement almost exactly. LOL)
The directions on there are confusing- maybe only to me but I was confused becuase it said something about measure and x2- to do that I'd have to pick the 6xl size (or bigger really). and that didn't sound right. LOL

When a shirt has the size- it usually means across the front, not circumference of the shirt. For instance if the chest width says 22 inches- that means 44 inches around the chest.. not 22 inches (if it was really just 22 inches- then that would mean an adult large shirt wouldn't even fit my little 7yr old who btw just measured her and her chest circumference is 25 inches LOL)
chest width described in shirts is across the front- not AROUND your body. I believe they even say that on like the measurements last time I ordered disney stuff online but that's been like a year since I"ve done that so I don't know if it's changed now. LOL

Anyway- I think I got it figured out now and coming out to approx size large is about right. I normaly would wear medium but i know some shirts are like narrow all the way down and I don't like shirts tight all the way down like that so I'll probably go with large anyway- ESPECIALLY if it's black.. give my body some breathing room. LOL

We have had rain for the last 3-5 days..I have my heat back on too.. 62* is a bit to cold for me in the house in the AM..

I finally caught up on the last 10 pages from this afternnon. I have an AFRICAN GREY parrot that is looking over my shoulder and kept pressing the mouse.. Talk about being a pirate..lol pirate:

Saw on the Today show this morning...........the Mad money guy was predicting gas to be 5.00 a gallon before summer is over with. Interesting how bad the economy is getting that Disney's last quarter earnings were up 22 %.:rolleyes1

The price of gas always sky rockets just before big/important elections. Ya gotta instill fear before ya send the huddled masses to the booth.

captain- your door looks so awesome! I love the pirate hat for your "mickey" door number. Way cool. :)

I had emailed this post/picture to dh and this was his reply -- Cool, we left port there each day basically between where you see the ship and the rocks.

He, his brother and his father spent a week in Cabo deep sea fishing. :)

Thank y'all for posting the pictures!!!

Ohhh....I was called to the Principal's office by DS's mirthless troll...err...teacher....for teaching DS to "borrow" and "carry" instead of "regrouping."

I feel your pain!! I want to know who's idea was it to change the terminology and drive us parents insane? Some teacher, or was it the publishers so they could print out a new book edition!!

Who did this??? I would lOVE to be able to get a copy that is big enough that it will print out full size --- when I do *print preview* this one is about 1/3 of the page size.

Question? I remember talk about the dry erase boards for the doors. Was it Crash? What ever happened with that plan. I think Laura mentioned she was on the committee handing them out. Could be wrong.

The Condo on the end of my

Capt Crash is taking care of this and has a task force to help! I believe there are 200 of the dry erase boards to be handed out.

DD is wandering the museums in Chicago and doesn't want to leave.

Next time she is here, maybe we should send my DS9 with her! :rotfl2: He LOVES to go to the Art Institute and we end up there for hours because there is always more stuff he wants to see.

We had a "mirthless troll" (LOVE that name :lmao: ) for 1st grade. By this point in the year, we were ALL counting down the days! Even DH and I were looking forward to the end of the year and the nearly daily notes home - really stupid stuff, like "your son kept swinging his feet under his desk and distracting the other children" (He was too short to have his feet touch the ground and she had an absolute rule that kids MUST sit at their desk - standing not allowed - what did she expect? Do you think she ever tried sitting with her feet dangling and NOT swinging them occasionally?)

Mine gets blurry when I try to resize it.

Wow..pretty bad when the lightning blinds you thru the living room window and it's still daylight outside! (I know...OT but it hit while I was typing the above)

Are other people really wearing white shirts on embarkation day? someone posted that the other day.. just curious if others are really doing this?
I ask because I'd REALLY prefer not to sweat to death in a black shirt- but also it would surely help us financially if I didn't have to buy TWO shirts for each of us.... we could just buy white and wear it on embarkation day and panama canal day?
LMK!

Black for Embarkation Day , White for Panama Canal ....Why do you always ask when you know thats the drill ...Geez :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If all else fails, go to any craft store (JoAnne etc) and you'll see sheets of magnetic paper. Print out a color pic of the one you like (or copy to disk and take to a place with better print quality where photos are done), and paste the image onto the magnetic paper and trim around it with sissors. You can do that....I would bet my.....hum....let's see....OH my DH on it ! :) :) :)

OK Ladies, there's a husband in play here....

:rotfl2:

I had ot laugh at this... 17dd is the most ungraceful person when it comes to walking....BUT with lots of work (for the first few years she was the worst dancer in the class!!!!) she is a very good ballerina now! :goodvibes
Unfortunately this past year she had to stop Ballet (after 10yrs) because of her scoliosis -- it was causing one of her knees to swell and extreme pain while dancing. :sad2:

I was diagnosed with scoliosis yesterday - mild. Good news is no degnerative disc disease, yet. But it explains why after being "fixed" (from a car accident in 2000) by my chiropractor and massage therapist - I have to continue to see them. Guess I'll be keeping them in business for some time. :rotfl2:

Thanks Julie!
Yeup nearly that entire post is duplicate on the first page of the shopping cart. I really did try to make it easy... :goodvibes

My kids tried the versing thing briefly. I set them straight. Their favorite thing to say now is "What the. . ." I tell them they'd better duck the first time they finish that sentence.

Hey!! We finally found something that makes the families different. Our boys do finish that sentence... "What the heck?". Usually when one is beating on the other. :rotfl2:

Okay thanks for the responses but I'm asking if anyone is wearing white on embarkation day- someone else said some people were- I'm asking if that is true.
I know most people are wearing black- so there is really on need to post if you're wearing black- I'm asking if anyone is wearing WHITE - I already know most people are wearing black. :lmao: Trying to make sure we wouldn't be the ONLY people in white.

Uh, neither? We're going to the DIY option ourselves. We've got a drawerful of white shirts - like I need another? And I'm not all the interested in black. We'll be the out of uniform pirate family in the piratey tie-dye. Still working out the design, but grey and red are coming immediately to mind.

Hey, BIP don't be worrying about the multiply / divide thing. You've got it figured out correctly and that's all that really matters. ;)
.

Nate is going to love his cakes when he sees them tonight! :)

Well if it is buttercream, then they should have used the chocolate covered bacon.

Good Luck! You're a brave soul. I've served on several boards - 3 non-profit human service organizations, chamber of commerce, convention and vistors bureau, Cub Scout pack committee, etc., and I work directly for a board, but no way in H-E-double-hockey-sticks will I go near any of these three: youth sports, home owners associations, or PTA/school boards.

I agree with you though - it's much better to jump in and try to change things than it is to complain. This is how DH and I ended up sharing the Committee Chair job for our highly disfuntional Cub Scout pack next year.

Pamela is also working on the navigator.

I wasn't planning to go so far as to include individual names. That's a lot of work piled onto a lot of work + things change & someone would be inadvertantly left out & hate Pamela & I forever. If someone wants to take this on, more power to you & I'd be happy to attach it to the file, but it's more than I can handle. Since the navigator will be available to print more than 2 weeks before we cruise, I would suggest you print it early and highlight the things you are interested in or signed up for, like many of us do with the DCL Navigators.

I'm planning to design 2 navigators:

1. A big, 8.5x11, many pages Navigator including:

Onboard activities with times, places, contact person & cabin ## door to check for updates once we board. Arranged by date.

Pirate Excursions - things like Zip-line & Aruba snorkeling. Basically non-DCL excursions that were organized on the thread.

Fish Extender - participants with cabin numbers

2. I am also planning to do a mini-navigator that you can fold up and put in a backpack, camera bag etc. This will only have the activity names, times & locations arranged by date. I'm not sure what the format will be until I have all the information - I'm going for small, so bring your reading glasses.

3. Drink of the Day Passport - I'm designing a 4x6 for each day to note the Drink of the Day, where you had it, who you were with, and your bartender. I wanted to make a booklet, but the some-assembly-required part is hangin' me up since everyone who wants one will have to print it themselves. If you print it you can use these for scrapbooking or put them in a photo album. I plan to buy a cheap 4x6 photo album and and stick the passport page in one pocket and my photo w/ friends & bartender in the other pocket when I get home.

4. Kid's Cruise Journal...lots and lots of people are working on pages and sending their ideas. I will design the pages so there is some uniformity.

All will be available in .pdf form for you to print.

Thanks for doing this!!!

My mother put me in ballet because she wanted me to become graceful - I don't think I am yet. Also, she was not that coordinated so she thought that would help as well - don't recall having issues on the coordination side - but oh well. I wanted Gymnastics and I got ballet.
