Yes, this is definitely too close for comfort -- when I look out our windows, there is nothing except fire tricks, police emergency response, etc., parked on our block, and all normal traffic has been diverted. I was just about to leave home after having walked the girls into school when I heard so many sirens and thought I would turn on the news to see if I could figure out what is up. I know the building hit well -- that Duane Reade drugstore is the closest one to our apartment and I often go there. I don't believe I know anyone in that building, though. At any rate, we are all fine.

Glad you're ok:hug:
 I'd stay far away from the cranes from now on Julie:idea:

Okay - I am definately Way Way over 40!!!

We're over that hill too!

Hubbie and I are over 40; I am actually celebrating my 50th (late).

DH is turning 50 on embarkation day, and I'll fess up to being over 40

:yay: :dance3: :yay: Other peeps over 40! LOL! Just in case y'all don't know this already... Cheryl will outlast every single one of the *young* ones! :rotfl2: She stays up later and gets up earlier then anyone I've ever seen on vacation! LOL! She told that she can sleep at home!

Laundry... Did Acapulco on the 2005 Repo Cruise.. ... no desire to even get off the ship again. It was my least favorite place to visit in all my cruises.....dirty and very very pushy vendors/cab drivers.

This is exactly what my DSis told me. I figured maybe with a DCL excursion, but apparently not:confused3

We had Open House at DS's school last night. Finally met the principal. DS has only been at this school since Feb. Turns out the principal was my 11th grade US History teacher. Thought about bringing up TOAL, but didn't. However when speaking with DS's teacher, I told her about TOAL and missing the first 4 days. DS will have the same teacher next year. She didn't see a problem with it. And when I told her about the journals, she said that would be perfect for Independent Study. She told me to talk to the Attendance Office and let them know that she has approved him for 4 days of Independent Study for the first week of school next year.
Glad that's working out for DS:thumbsup2

Hello, Pirates!

I'm waaaay behind, not even gonna try to catch up totally! We had a great time in Williamsburg last weekend (sorry did not see you, Theresa, but we did love the Griffon ride!).
Just got back from Williamsburg as DS had a fieldtrip today. Also had a great time:banana: But it didn't start out smoothly:rolleyes1

So I'm up at 3:00 am to make sure we have everything we need since we had to be at his school by 4:30 am:headache: His band had a music competition in the morning and he had to be fully dressed in tux pants, tux shirt, cumberbund before boarding the bus. So at 4:00 am he asks me where his cumberbund is:eek: Now I made sure the rest of his outfit was cleaned and pressed and assumed that the cumberbund was in his room after his last concert. Soooo, there we are at 4:00 am frantically pulling apart his incredibly messy room trying to find this stupid cumberbund. Found it eventually, but it was not a pleasant search:rolleyes1
Very quick drive by posting. Cann't believe this is happening.
About 2 hours ago we decided to go to LA for the weekend. Heading to Seattle in about an 1hour will be in DL by noon tomorrow til Monday.

Late all.....:dance3: :yay:

Hope you have a great trip:goodvibes

I gotta go catch some sleep now.
I'm very grateful that ya'll didn't post to much today so I was able to ketchup:woohoo:

You got that right!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: BTW how many people did you have when we did the wine and cheese in your Roy suite??? Had to be way over 100 people!!!:worship: :worship:

Add us to that crowd as well :goodvibes

Andy

How about over 50 and 60!!!  :faint:

So you mean he will have to bring a suit too????????????:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 I just thought a tux is good enough for semi formal night. I don't have room for all his clothes too!!!:faint: :faint: :faint:

I think my DH was just planning on wearing his tux for formal & semi. He won't be happy if I tell him he has to pack a suit too. :worried:

g'mornin' pirate:s

And how did that go for ya Joel?

Oh, I see.

1/2 a pirate? 1/3 a pirate?
I'm not a huge fruity drink person, but I can drink a lot of Konk Koolers!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think DH is bringing dress slacks and a sports coat for semi/Palo & he can also wear the slacks with more casual shirts on regular nights.

So somewhere in Indiana a secretary could be reading:

"And then sk8ingmom said..."

Maybe it is 'understood' around here as well, but I would think someone would mention it sometime. Lots of new families every year. Besides the incovenience, the thing that irks me is the lack of notice. We really are one of the only two parent working families in the school that can pay for an additional 2 days of day care without too much trauma. There is a huge economic disparity in my kids school. Most of the families that live on our side of the major road are very well off. Just about every mom is a SAHM. The other half of the kids come from apartment complexes across the road. I bet 2 days off an hourly wage job or 2 extra unanticipated days of day care is a huge deal for many of those families.

So you'll be joining my DS8, Deanna's husband and Mike in the Topsiders Bacon Scrum??

Can I go home now??

Paypal sounds great. I wouldn't expect anyone to fork out that much money for us.

I'm pretty sure the day rate is $8 on a spa treatment day and $15 if you just walk in.

That's odd that your school district doesn't inform you ahead of time. We have a school calendar that is passed out to all students & is posted on our public schools website more then a year in advance. This year it states:
Thursday, June 19, 2008 Early Release (Last Day of School; no snow days) Thursday June 26, 2008 Early Release (Last Day of School; including 5 snow days).

So it's pretty obvious to old & new families that the last day is going to fall somewhere in between depending on snow days. BTW we get out Friday June 20th! Only 1 snow day this year! :yay:

Also in agreement with Paypal for the buses! :thumbsup2

Sorry we missed out seeing you at Williamsburg and BG . . . Have fun with Band . . . are you doing the competition in BG this weekend? One of our friends is singing with her choir. They are a children's choir that has won the competition the last few years. I'm amazed how hard they work! But the sound is stunning for a group of kids.

Have a wonderful weeekend

Hi Gang!!

I have been MIA - while being Really busy is better than being bored - I am so far behind here!!

*NOTE* - am getting the last of the price quotes from the bus companies. Changes due to price hikes w/diesel/gas prices!! Will have all quotes by tomorrow - and will post thereafter. So far $10 pp is the average.

( Deposit due upon reservation - Full payment to be paid 2 wks prior to departure - I am willing to pay in advance - how does everyone feel about paying me via paypal)

Belated Happy B'day to all I missed!!:cake: :cake:

   to all our hurting pirates!

Hi Chris --

I love PAYPAL . . works wonderfully :)

Don't forget to add the PAYPAL charges so you get enough $$. We'll be more than happy to pay once you know the price. Thanks so much for doing this for us.

Oh, and one more question . . .do you have a feel for what time we'll be leaving and what time we'll be arriving at the ship? Or is it too soon to ask that one . . .

Off to bed for me . . .sorry I missed chatting . .. gotta drive to my sister's wedding shower

BUT THEY ARE SHOWING OUR HOUSE TOMORROW!!!! Pray for a buyer and not a looker! We are so ready to move!!!

I am so glad there are a few others over 40! :lmao: I thought Dh and I might be teh only ones! :rotfl2: Us and Cheryl & John. ;)

Dsil had DD's engagement ring custom made for her -- I think the main diamond is 1 1/2 carats near pefect stone. He designed the ring without telling her --- he was going to surprise her with the proposal & ring. When he came to DH & I to ask *permission* I told him getting that ring made without her imput might not be the smartest move he ever made... She is REALLY picky! LOL! It is a beautiful ring and she does love it but, he was taking quite a chance! LOL!
Add DH and I to the over 40 crowd! I'll be 47 next Wednesday and he's 48!

Sorry I missed chat today, I was planning on joining but we had an unexpected call this morning to see if we would rehome a mini-dachshund. We have been waiting for ages for one to come up. She arrived early this afternoon so I spent "chat time" introducing her to the rest of the family.

Thats our new baby on my lap, our other two dogs have been excellent with her. We have renamed her "Alice".
