ACAPULCO

For those of you that are unsure about Acapulco and the cliff diver excursions here is the contact information for a person that works for the port authority there and has posted on these boards before with a lot of information on Acapulco. I am sure he can find out exactly what time the divers will be and what other options there are

Thanks, Jo -- I think we if can figure out what time the divers are, we can just get off the ship en masse and get taxis to the place, then return . . .

I think the girls will have a blast if we go shopping and pick some out...I just don't like shopping AT ALL!!! I try to do everything online!

That is so me! LOL! If it can't be bought online I;m pretty sure nobody needs it. ;)

I am sure the tiaras will be back in stock soon. It's just been Prom season so, I am sure that is why they are out!

Coral, dd used to work at the AT @ Stone Briar. :rotfl:

Congrats on the milestones! There are a lot of us hitting the big 4 0 this year (I do on Monday:scared1:), my DH also hit his 5 years ago and we're celebrating our 16th anniversary in Oct.

Happy (early) Birthday to you! I have a few months to go still. I don't turn the big 4-0 until November.

Kim

Another one here who hit the big 4-0 this year :( I'm amazed at the number of couples on this cruise who are under 40 and who've been married 16 or more years.

Hi Shannon,

I've also been reading all the negative reviews of the Cliff Diver tours in Acapulco. I think we're going to cancel. It isn't worth the money (~$250) or the aggravation to do this one. On top of that, I wasn't too thrilled about having an excursion start time of 7 am! :scared1: We'll probably either visit the Fort on our own or just stay on the ship that day.

Kim

If I could figure out for sure what time the divers are going to go for the private DCL groups, I would just take a taxi somewhere over there and watch it, then head back for the ship. The problem is our weird time in port -- usually the shows are at regular times, starting at 1, and apparently when they do a "private" show they won't give out the time publicly -- although there is nothing to stop you from seeing it from the steps if you are there at the right time . . . I am really not sure what to do, since I really, really wanted to see the cliff divers but the descriptions of the excursions are truly terrible.

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes about the accident a few blocks from here. Traffic is still blocked off here and is likely to be so for some time, but I don't need to get anywhere that I can't walk or take the subway to for the next several days, so I'm set.

Glad you're okay with the crane accident.

After reading more about the Acapulco excursions, we're about 90% sure we're cancelling too. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem like there's much else to do there with a 6 year old. We may just jump off the boat for an hour or so and not do anything. It's just a shame with all of the sea days around Acapulco. If I'm going to be "trapped" for 5 days, I couldn't think of a better place! :cool2:

I am an only child, so to get revenge on my parents, I had 5! :)

My oldest 3 are 16,14 and 13, then we have a 10 and a little 3yo. I think the closer in age ones are actually easier because they all have each other (now, that is, when all 3 were under 3 and in diapers, that was a different story!) They help each other with homework and school projects and are really really close.

The 10 yo is our poor middle one. And she is a sensitive young lady, so she kind of gets the shaft. But she is maturing quite a bit this year and loves being a big sister to the little one. But, boy, does she have a TEMPER :furious: She is also my homebody. She loves to be home with us and hates sleeping over at friends etc. She is a special little girl and I can't wait to celebrate her birthday on the cruise on Cabo day. We have a private sailing charter booked for the day. They are going to decorate the sailboat for her birthday too. I really really hope we can get into port that day!!!!

Anyway, my advice with the kids is to just enjoy them, they really grow up so quickly. Take the time to treasure them while you can!

Okay, done being cheesy! Have a great day everyone, I am going to buy a dress from David's Bridal and look into tuxes for the boys, I have been motivated by everyone's discussions in the past few days!

Wow My Mom had 3 daughters all within 3 years of each other. Probaly why I only had 2 and they were 3 years apart.:rotfl2: Kudos to you. I got tired just reading your post. What a nice way to celebrate your birthday. She will remember it always.

We decided to stay onboard - funny thing is that Acapulco was a city that I was looking forward to seeing then when the time was cut short I wasn't too thrilled with having to get up so early on vacation. Mind you that I will be up anyway it will just be hard trying to get everyone else up and going ;)

That is our anniversary day and we will just spend it relaxing around the ship and if the kids want to partake in any of the activities for their age group DH and I will head to the adult pool for a while. We have Palo dinner reservations that evening and I would rather be nice and relaxed for it vs exhausted because we were up so early

The 5th grade play is on Sunday. And DS11 needs his "chiton" - the greek toga like thing (but it's not a toga) for his costume. I made him one earlier in the year for the class greek festival. Does he have it?

"Mom! Where's my chiton??"
"I haven't seen it since you wore it to school (back in November!) What did you do with it when you took it off?"
"Well, when I took it off I put it in a plastic bag - or maybe it was paper. I took it off at school."
(This is the answer that was given after a search of all the closests from "I hung it up." produced nothing.)
"Well, I suggest you look for it."
"Where?" :headache: (There's a hole in my bucket, Dear Liza....)

Needless to say, another chiton is being made. Am I making it??? Heck NO! Tonight, the child learns to SEW!

And he'd better learn it fast, cause all the 5th grade moms are eating at a local Moraccan place tonight, and I'm going! Wonder how many of them are teaching their kids to sew this weekend. I'll have to find out. ;)

We had Open House at DS's school last night. Finally met the principal. DS has only been at this school since Feb. Turns out the principal was my 11th grade US History teacher. Thought about bringing up TOAL, but didn't. However when speaking with DS's teacher, I told her about TOAL and missing the first 4 days. DS will have the same teacher next year. She didn't see a problem with it. And when I told her about the journals, she said that would be perfect for Independent Study. She told me to talk to the Attendance Office and let them know that she has approved him for 4 days of Independent Study for the first week of school next year.

Did you get along well with your 11th grade teacher? Ask teacher about your son getting extra credit for the report. Same thing happened to my kids and it helped the grades with the report.

We wanted to get to the port early too, but I have checked alot of websites and still cannot find what time they open. I heard from Roger, Laura, that they are not nice like PC and will not let you line up if you are early? So I need to find out when they open so I can schedule supershuttle too.

Our port here is not like PC...in my experience..the soonest they will let you in is 11:00 AM...once inside the building..it's a decent place to wait but not much to do but visit and wait for your number to be called. The guard gate will not let you drive in until 11AM usually..I have had them let me in as early as 10:30 and as late as 11:30..they have made us turn around if we are to early and we end up sitting down at Ports O'Call...just my experience..hope it helps!

Sounds like a really great way to spend an anniversary, Jo! DCL is going to lose a lot of money by not vetting those excursions before the WB cruisers went on them . . .

I am way over 40 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: and we will be celebrating 8 years married on August 5th and 10 years together. DH says he can remember how many years we have been married because it was 2000 and it is easy to because the current year is the number we have been married.:lmao: Today is actually the anniversary of our engagement. We went to visit his folks in Dallas over memorial day weekend and he took me shopping for a ring. His sister worked at a jewlery store at the time. (can we say thrifty?)

I am so glad there are a few others over 40! :lmao: I thought Dh and I might be teh only ones! :rotfl2: Us and Cheryl & John. ;)

I love my ring too. I love it even more knowing that DH picked out exactly what I would have wanted without ever having had "the ring" discussion. His Dad had given him cash as a gift for College Graduation. DH took that to the mall ... bought himself a beer and spent the rest on my ring. He'll often laugh about the "3 months salary" rule when budgetting for an engagement ring ... he says, "I had just graduated from college and I didn't have a job ... 3 months of nothing is nothing." :rotfl2: I guess it was pretty funny when he told the saleslady, "I like that one, I'll take that one." And she said, "Well, that's nice, but what does SHE want." Her face went something like this  when he said, "I don't know we never talked about it."

Dsil had DD's engagement ring custom made for her -- I think the main diamond is 1 1/2 carats near pefect stone. He designed the ring without telling her --- he was going to surprise her with the proposal & ring. When he came to DH & I to ask *permission* I told him getting that ring made without her imput might not be the smartest move he ever made... She is REALLY picky! LOL! It is a beautiful ring and she does love it but, he was taking quite a chance! LOL!

Mike, I am hoping to be in the private room brunch that Chris is trying for . . . however, I have a backup reservation of the last sea day (Aug 30, I think) at 11:30, and if the private brunch doesn't come through you are very welcome to brunch with me on that day (the smallest reservation is for 1-2, so I could add you on easily). We should know by about a month before the cruise, so you might not have to line up for Palo brunch if you end up having a "date" with me!

Well, since we've already established the fact that the bishop does not DIS, he'll never know that I'll accept the date should you not be able to get the private room brunch! :)

Thanks.

Hi all. We have just got home from the WB Repo, and I want to say that you are going to have such a fabulous time. We just loved it all and would love to be joining you.

That's great to hear. Makes me even more excited!

I'm glad that you had fun.

guess we'll most likely be cancelling the acapulco one too....kids and i really wanted to see the cliff divers though. bummer!

i did see that people are thinking of changing excursions. the acapulco one seems to be the one i've seen mentioned lots....what else are people planning to do in acapulco?

I have Horseback Riding booked. Haven't seen any reviews on it ....yet. :worried:

Laundry... Did Acapulco on the 2005 Repo Cruise.. ... no desire to even get off the ship again. It was my least favorite place to visit in all my cruises.....dirty and very very pushy vendors/cab drivers.

This is exactly how I felt about Nassau!!

Save some machines for us - we will probably do some laundry too :thumbsup2

Go for it Michelle. There's already over 25 of us that have said we're doing the tiaras. You can find really inexpensive ones at Claires or Icing. Then there's always ebay.

We also have a store here in OKC called "Dustee's." Not sure if they're elsewhere.
