Cheryl, I bought Kev's on Ebay.

His necktie is the same pattern.

I've thought about getting this vest as well. I have a Mickey vest now that is a black satin mickey against a black vest. It's very subtle, but difficult to see Mickey unless you're in the right light.

16 year anniversaries seem to be popular with this group. My DH and I will celebrate ours on August 1st.

We are 14 years married and 22 since we met. DH just turned 40 and I will be 40 next year.

Penny

We celebrate our 18th on August 11th -- 22 years together this July.

What time are you having Super Shuttle pick you up to take you to the cruise?

I have a 10:00 a.m. pick up time from the Grand Californian.

I was anxious to get the port and want to have time to take lots of pictures. I'm probably getting there a little too early but that's all right. I'll savor the experience! :)

The only Palo we didn't get was brunch and we really can survive without that, so I don't think I HAVE to go sign up for anything. Also, sitting around waiting for the rooms to open with 7 people's STUFF isn't my favorite thing to do either.

I would like to secure Palo brunch as well. In all my cruises with DCL thus far, I have never had a chance to snag a brunch reservation. I want to break that losing streak this time around.

And, being by myself, I really do not mind waiting. I always have a book with me to read.

We just celebrated 15 years married last Thursday. My sister was working at a jewelry store too and we picked out the ring there. It was nice and not very expensive, but we were hoping to buy a house so it didn't matter to me. But then 4 years later something really nice happened.

Just before our anniversary, DH's brother John came over and was telling us that he was switching banks and the rings that he and DH were willed were in the safety deposit box. One of them had their great grandmother's engagement diamond in it (had been reset). John suggested that the two rings were not equal in value and he wasn't planning to marry so instead of selling the diamond, they should just give it to me!!!!!!!!!! It is a beautiful diamond! We had my ring reset with a new setting but it looks very much like my original ring did (we reused the accent diamonds in my original setting). My mom started making jewelry and she took my old setting and put new stones in it (a blue diamond and smoky diamonds for the accent).

I don't want to sound like DH was a cheapskate. With his sister working at the jewelry store he was able to get a better ring than we would have otherwise. It turned out my SIL had the same setting which is not very common. We had to look all over for a wedding band to match when we got married because she left the store on not the best of terms.

I too love my ring and wouldn't trade it for the world (or the man that goes with it).:lovestruc I just found it amusing that right off the bat he was trying to save some money.

He still is pretty thrifty, except when it comes to his toys. He told me yesterday that the new sewing machine I just bought was my birthday present. My old machine was over 20 years old and just plain worn out and my birthday isn't until the end of June, so I told him NO WAY. He just laughed and said maybe he would take me out to dinner. Got to love his sense of humor.

Unfortunately, that's the one we're booked on. And the regular city tour is filled up.

However, I can hope that it will be different this time both due to the complaints, and the fact that it will be at a different time for us.

We are on the tour too, but we will make the best of it, I don't know what else we would do! :)

We will make the best of it!!!!

Hey- I am right there w/ ya! I am on it too.
Now wait a minute- I am on the non -shoppping cliff divers.

We're also on the "non-shopping" cliff divers, but the DCL website description of the excursion states that it includes 30 minutes of shopping and sightseeing before a 2 hour tour of the city. This is after the cliff divers. It sounds like the same torture described on the main forum with the gov't run jewelry shop forced shopping right before a drive to view McD's and Burger King while hearing a spiel about buying a condo. Thought about grabbing a cab right after the cliff divers! Or cancelling?!:confused3

Congrats on the milestones! There are a lot of us hitting the big 4 0 this year (I do on Monday:scared1:), my DH also hit his 5 years ago and we're celebrating our 16th anniversary in Oct.

Happy (early) Birthday to you! I have a few months to go still. I don't turn the big 4-0 until November.

Kim

Bad me, I didn't check...

I think the girls will have a blast if we go shopping and pick some out...I just don't like shopping AT ALL!!! I try to do everything online!

I CANT go shopping... The nearest decent place to shop is 2 hours away and there isn't muc there! I've gotten very used to buying stuff online.

Our 14th will be in October & we both have a few more years before 40. Well, him fewer than me!

DH did the opposite. Bought my ring in the only jewelry store on an Alaskan island. You should have seen his face the next time we were in an jewelry store in the continental U.S. "You could have had THAT for what I paid!" The ring he was referring to was about 3x the size of mine. I don't care, though. I love my ring and it reminds me of knowing this was it when we were young, stupid and poor.

We're a few years away from 40 too, though DH is starting to dread it LOL. And also him fewer than me :)

My DH and I went shopping for rings together so that he could see what I even liked. I found one that I loved and he had a friend go pick it up so I'd never know LOL. My big stone is not a diamond but is Moissonite which is manmade and very very close to a diamond except in price! Most jewelers can't even tell the difference!

That's perfect for Independent Study. We always go to Disneyland in December. Wasn't a problem when they were in grade school which is year-round and we had December off but now that they are in middle school we do Independent Study for those days that they miss and my boys HATE IT! My oldest told me he didn't want to miss school any more to go to Disneyland. (I'm trying to figure out who's kid he is - not wanting to go to Disneyland :scared1: )

Penny
My older kids are getting the same too. Making up school work was such a pain, they wanted to never miss to go on a trip again. I was wondering who's kids they were too! When I was younger, I did not care what it took, I was GOING!

I like classes. Cadio Pump, Body Attack (known as evil aerobics in my house), Zumba, Hip Hop. It's all good.

I like to bike. Hate spin. If you lived closer, you wouldn't have to fight me for a spot in class!

Our 14th will be in October & we both have a few more years before 40. Well, him fewer than me!
I hate spinning, but love biking too. My problem is, I probably would really benefit from spinning...I know it would do so much good for me if it didn't kill me first :(

We just celebrated our 16th anniversary this last January, and we have a few years till 40 as well.

I have a 10:00 a.m. pick up time from the Grand Californian.

I was anxious to get the port and want to have time to take lots of pictures. I'm probably getting there a little too early but that's all right. I'll savor the experience! :)

I would like to secure Palo brunch as well. In all my cruises with DCL thus far, I have never had a chance to snag a brunch reservation. I want to break that losing streak this time around.

And, being by myself, I really do not mind waiting. I always have a book with me to read.

We wanted to get to the port early too, but I have checked alot of websites and still cannot find what time they open. I heard from Roger, Laura, that they are not nice like PC and will not let you line up if you are early? So I need to find out when they open so I can schedule supershuttle too.

And about Palo, there have been several times that I have had booked online Palo dinner and brunch, but every SINGLE time I always go onboard and change it. So I am getting to the point of thinking why bother online, I just end up switching things all around onboard anyway. I have never had a problem getting what I have wanted though. :)

Hello all. I am here at the Ventura County Court house law library. Did not want to drag my laptop around today, but did hear that they had computers in the Law Library. Big sign here saying some kind of restrictions to researching legal issues. Don't they know I'm a pirate:. Anyway, just got done with my lunch break. Walked across the street to Acapulco restaurant. Did have that feeling of being there and the food was mediocare. Only 79 more days.

K you have me scared about this spinning thing :scared1: I love riding my bike outside and have only been on a life cycle once. That inside excercising does not really appeal to me. But being on the ship for 2 weeks I will really have no other choice. I do not run. I am afraid that K is going to whip my add when it comes to spinning. Hopefully doing it with some one will make it easier.

OK back to jury duty. Talk to you all later.

good morning all!! tgif!!! hope everyone had a great week! i have alot to catch up on. i haven't been able to read back thru much of the thread yet, but hope to catch up a bit at naptime. probably won't happen though with my luck!
i did see that people are thinking of changing excursions. the acapulco one seems to be the one i've seen mentioned lots....what else are people planning to do in acapulco?
gotta run for now...hope to be back later, but you never know!! have a great day everyone!!

Hi Shannon,

I've also been reading all the negative reviews of the Cliff Diver tours in Acapulco. I think we're going to cancel. It isn't worth the money (~$250) or the aggravation to do this one. On top of that, I wasn't too thrilled about having an excursion start time of 7 am! :scared1: We'll probably either visit the Fort on our own or just stay on the ship that day.

Ring? You mean there's supposed to be a ring? Sheez. :headache:

Never got one. Heck, he never even really ask me to marry him. Sort of slid around past that one too.

Every now and then I rib him about it. Three month salary? That diamond is only getting bigger. Though now, it's studs - one for each ear. :rotfl2:

Truth be told, I'd almost rather he never give them to me. I'm not much for diamonds - and it's WAY more fun to rib him about it. :stir:

On the other hand, when he does give me jewlery - he gets the job done right. We used plain gold bands for the wedding cause we couldn't find anything we liked. We had an idea what we wanted, but figured we'd wind up having to design it ourselves. Popped into a few jewlry stores in SF, just to see what they had, and found a designer - and a set of rings we loved. :lovestruc But, couldn't afford them. :( So, we took a card, wrote it down, and figured we'd get around to it sometime.

About 12 months later, we're eating at Victoria & Alberts - and my after dinner rose arrives on a silver tray with the new wedding band tucked inside. pixiedust: (They told him it was a first - they do engagement rings like that all the time, but this was the first wedding band.)

Turns out he'd lifted my ring to get the size (I blamed it on poor DS11 - who was 2 at the time, and DH kept moving it around trying to get me to bump into it. He felt pretty bad for DS.) and purchased them during a business trip to SF. Odd thing is - we wear the same size ring.

So, he goes wandering into the store, with that old card in his hand. I want a set of these. They weren't in the case anymore, but they did have them in the back. The salesperson makes him this awesome deal on the man's ring - thinking he'll make it up on the ladies ring. "Great." DH says "I'll take two." :lmao: He said the sales person looked something like this:

.

OK i'm jealous...I've never gotten to jury duty...Been notified once but got excused the night beforehand...

It's funny. My dh likes outdoor biking..Tried spinning once and hated it...

Now what they offer on the ship isn't what you will usually see in American health clubs as spinning. (for good reason) I even don't particularly car for how it was taught last time i was on DCL. (but hey gotta do something right?)

After you take a class, i'll 'splain the difference... Hopefully DCL has improved.

Wish me luck Wenches... I'm dress shopping/trying on after work

Hi all. We have just got home from the WB Repo, and I want to say that you are going to have such a fabulous time. We just loved it all and would love to be joining you.

Mike, I am hoping to be in the private room brunch that Chris is trying for . . . however, I have a backup reservation of the last sea day (Aug 30, I think) at 11:30, and if the private brunch doesn't come through you are very welcome to brunch with me on that day (the smallest reservation is for 1-2, so I could add you on easily). We should know by about a month before the cruise, so you might not have to line up for Palo brunch if you end up having a "date" with me!

If I could figure out for sure what time the divers are going to go for the private DCL groups, I would just take a taxi somewhere over there and watch it, then head back for the ship. The problem is our weird time in port -- usually the shows are at regular times, starting at 1, and apparently when they do a "private" show they won't give out the time publicly -- although there is nothing to stop you from seeing it from the steps if you are there at the right time . . . I am really not sure what to do, since I really, really wanted to see the cliff divers but the descriptions of the excursions are truly terrible.

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes about the accident a few blocks from here. Traffic is still blocked off here and is likely to be so for some time, but I don't need to get anywhere that I can't walk or take the subway to for the next several days, so I'm set.

I'm going to a Raconteurs concert tonight -- any fans out there? The lead singer is Jack White of the White Stripes (which I saw last year at MSG).

ACAPULCO

For those of you that are unsure about Acapulco and the cliff diver excursions here is the contact information for a person that works for the port authority there and has posted on these boards before with a lot of information on Acapulco. I am sure he can find out exactly what time the divers will be and what other options there are

Aren't you glad that JR, Cheryl and I don't live in your HOA?:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I wouldn't mind one bit. :rolleyes1

I totally agree with this! This is our first time "Going All Out". Here's what we wore on our last cruise:
P1000251.jpg

In fact, the more I think about it, I may just wear this one again instead of getting a new one. This is the only time I wore this dress.

Nice pic. of you & Kevin. I would wear it again.:thumbsup2

I've seen an awful lot of really cute flip flops out there! You could always get a pair that are sequined.

I have seen some to but they weren't comfortable to wear. Wen't shopping or I should say looking and nothing. Arghhh

or what the dining rotations will be....:rotfl2:

Tina, are you on the Las caletas one in PV?

12 for us married. 17 since we met... (Does that count?)

No Kristina not that one. I wanted the Las one orignal but now we are going on our own to Krystal.

A crane collapsed three blocks from here and the emergency response going by here is incredible. Luckily for us it happened north of the way we walk to school, so although it happened at that time we were not there. Not sure how bad it is going to be, but from what I am seeing so far it looks bad. I know that crane, and just pointed it out to the girls the other day and noted how precarious it looked.

:scared1: Hope all will be o.k My uncle is with ladder 33.

I like classes. Cadio Pump, Body Attack (known as evil aerobics in my house), Zumba, Hip Hop. It's all good.

I like to bike. Hate spin. If you lived closer, you wouldn't have to fight me for a spot in class!

Well....I can't say I like classes either, but I also hate upright stationary bikes. Now, I love my recumbent stationary bike. It has a nice padded cushy seat. It's like peddling in a Barcalounger. Great workout? No. Comfortable? Yes!

I remember when we got engaged, someone actually told me that we could always "upgrade" to a bigger diamond later. I said I could never do that. I love that this is the ring he proposed to me with. And I think the size is just perfect for my small hand.

I did not think about Sam Moom. My Mom loves that place.

Like maybe the Acapulco Cliff Divers and shopping? Anyone actually keeping that excursion? Overwhelming negative reviews.

Funny thing is I didn't book anything in Acapulco. I am glad I didn't after reading the reports. We are just going to stay on the ship.

Tina a bought siver ballerina slippers.:thumbsup2 I hate heels!!!:( I wish I could wear my Nikes!!!:lmao:
Have a great day!!!:yay:

I tried but I really can't have anything on top of toe. I still have a little bit of time.:rolleyes1

Ooooh maybe we can actually book stuff then! A lot of things are sold out right now and we can't book till Monday! Is there a place (other than the TRs) where they reviewed everything?

Nice song!

I am sure DCL held things back. You should be able to get some things, just don't count on brunch till you get on the ship.
