Hello, again fellow cruisers. I haven't posted on this thread for many months, but since we are now paid in full, I have been trying to catch up. One subject I have not seen covered is the logistics of using Disney transfers from the airport to the port.

We have always flown into Orlando and sailed out of Pt. Canaveral. This August, we will be flying in the day before. Since we willl be staying overnight near LAX and have purchased Disney transfers, I am planning on getting ourselves and our luggage back to the airport on embarkation morning in order to get on the bus to the port, right?

Is there a schedule out yet showing when the busses start leaving for the port? Is it about 10am as in Orlando? Where at LAX do they load the busses? What is the best way to return to the airport to get the Disney transfer bus? Motel shuttle? Rent a car overnight?

Sorry, I can't answer any of your questions....I hope someone can!

Just wanted to say nice to see you back on the thread!

If you don't get any info here, I would call DCL and ask if they can help you out. Once the Magic sails one or two Mexican Riviera cruises, DCL should be able to tell you when the busses are running as well.

Don't be a stranger! ;)

Hi I have booked my own transfers but in 2005 did the Disney ones, I would keep a look out for the first Mexico 7 night cruises starting next Sunday and see what people report on that for the upto dae situation. I think they would start transfers about 9.30am from LAX on the day of sailing however.

I assume you flew in the day before in 2005. May I ask where did you stay overnight and how did you get back to the airport on embarkation morning?

Welcome Back!
I think you'll have a really good idea of how it works once the Mexican Riviera cruises start. After all, DCL has all summer to practice before we get there.

Andy - Angelina is beautiful! Is that a Dis green dress?? :) I hope she had a great time. Thanks for sharing photos with us.

Last time I flew in a week before, and went to Vegas for a day or so, then Hollywood, then Disneyland then the cruise, I ahve cut the pre stay this time as the cruise is a day longer and starts Sunday ends Monday, so without weekends I cannto have too much time off work.

Thanks M!!! :thumbsup2

Lina came upon the dress and purse quite by accident and loved them both. When I saw Lina walk out of her bedroom last evening, she looked liked Tinkerbell floating through the air, that's what made me tear up. I can only imagine what kind of wreck I will be when I see her in a wedding dress. :scared: :scared1:

Welcome Back!!!!!

I don't have an answer for you, wish I could help. Maybe once the Mexican Riviera cruises start and some trip reports start coming back, you will have an idea of the schedule. Have a great weekend!

Edited to say...looks like we all think alike. SCARY!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Possum

A possum is any of about 64 small to medium-sized arboreal marsupial species native to Australia, New Guinea, and Sulawesi (and introduced to New Zealand). The name derives from their resemblance to the opossums of the Americas. (The name is from Algonquian wapathemwa, not Greek or Latin, so the plural is possums, not possa.) Possum is also used in North America as a diminutive for the Virginia Opossum. The possum's rank odour is due to its large musk glands located behind each ear.

Possums are small marsupials with brown or grey fur, ranging in size and weight from the length of a finger or 170 grams (6 ounces) (pygmy possums and wrist-winged gliders), to the length of 120 centimetres (four feet) or 14.5 kilograms (32 pounds) (brushtails and ringtails). In general, though, the larger possums are about the same size as a well-fed domestic cat. All possums are nocturnal and omnivorous, hiding in a nest in a hollow tree during the day and coming out during the night to forage for food. They fill much the same role in the Australian ecosystem that squirrels fill in the northern hemisphere and are broadly similar in appearance.

http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/628/Baked-Possum84305.shtml

1 large possum, skinned, dressed, and washed
1 quart beer
4 tablespoons Tabasco sauce
1 1/2 tablespoon salt
2 onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 sweet potatoes
2 ribs celery, chopped
1 ounce whiskey

Directions:

Mix the beer, whiskey, salt, Tabasco sauce, and Worcestershire sauce together. Place possum in a large roasting pan. Sprinkle the celery, onions, and the garlic all over the possum. Pour the liquid mixture over the possum as well. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 350F. Place the sweet potatoes around the possum. Bake covered for 1 1/2 hours. Baste once or twice with the marinade from the pan as the possum cooks.

Cheryl (micmse2003) is staying at airport and I'm pretty sure taking DCL transfers (or researched them), she will know the answers.

Only consideration is that the busses from Disneyland don't start until 12, not sure if this is same for airport.

Although I do not know what time they will start running this year, I know that in 2005 we passed one on the freeway going to San Pedro about 10:30.

Wow! We're cruising through possum land!

Morning , anyone doing anythnig this weekend?

We're having a hassle free weekend. First I have to be at our daughters school to store (hassle free) the stage and props from last nights Wizard of Oz production.

Then it'll be time for some (hassle free) swimming, and (hassle free) sorting of the 1000 pics I took of the production.

There may be some (hassle free) possum hunting on Saturday evening.

Sunday will be a (hassle free) church service.

Then about 9pm (PDT) I'm going to hassle the darn computer pirate:

Andy
