I don't mind meeting before sailaway but, during sailaway my family will be dancing on deck 9! :rotfl:

Such nice memories. Tell your two children I will miss them on the cruise!!! I will have no one reporting to you on how late I stayed up!!!:lmao: :lmao:

You know ...

.... with so many on the ship for 15 nites it's inevitable we'll see one another all over the ship. Only thing is some of us might pass one another wihout noticing sometimes - unless we all wear our T-****s or whatever we come up with - like the wrist bands or lanyards.

agree.jpg

Which is why dh & I love the Lanyards. Dh is a very quiet, shy kind of guy BUT, if he saw one of the Lanyards he actually went up and talked to the person! He told me he did that on excursions, also -- we usually do separate excursions since I HATE the beach and he LOVES the beach. :rotfl:

You kept telling me your Jon is shy but............he talked a lot to my John and me!!!:thumbsup2

Now you are freaking me!!!

We had to wait for a table tonight when we went out to dinner.... The Economy in our area is doing alright -- except for the gas prices! LOL! Our area is still getting more new jobs then people being laid off --- there was an article in the Star Telegram a while back (a month or so?) about our area's economy.

Most home owners are also getting checks from Natural Gas companies for Gas leases -- my mom got $700 the other day......
Things are pretty good here too:confused3
Patent Office is hiring, if anyone is looking:rolleyes1

Here's my sweet master of the "ball and chain" that has me happily shackled up ... a photo of us about 22-23 years ago when we were on Oahu touring over the pass where the Japanese Naval aircraft flew in to attack Pearl harbor. This pass was on a restricted military air base - not a spot just any ordnary tourist could reach. Our guide was cousin Arlene who had been assigned to "check me out" a bit for the rest of the family. I guess I did a good job of foolin' her since we're still together 24.5 years later.... < wink >

We were such kids back then... Gee... look at how SKINNY I was.... aside from that, this photo brings back tremendously fond memories for me ta glance at.... sigh.
Love the photo Crash:lovestruc
You both look so young:goodvibes

Happy Birthday Kelly!

birthdaycake.jpg

Please let Kelly know that Hailey, Zack, and Nick wished her a Happy Birthday and hope she had a great day!

Thanks:goodvibes
Glad I got their names right:woohoo:
She's celebrating pretty much all week.
My Mom sent her flowers with a teddy bear and chocolate truffles.
Fortunately some of the truffles are coffee flavored, so I get some:woohoo:

Will do! They both wish they could be on this cruise!! I think Michael is still surprised at how much fun he had on a DISNEY cruise!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

You kept telling me your Jon is shy but............he talked a lot to my John and me!!!:thumbsup2

I tell you there is something about a Disney Cruise that causes the 2 most shy people (Jon & Samantha) to becaome talkers! LOL! I can't figure it out!! They talked more in that 10nts then they talk in most months! :rotfl2:

Thanks for such a warm welcome. I was on the west bound med repo last year. I am hoping that DCL does some of the same activities. I really enjoyed the cooking demonstrations. I doubt they will because there are so many port of calls.

The in laws are 85/86 years old. They are somewhat active, but then even a ball and chain move.:rotfl2: It is hard to find a shore excursion that will accomodate them as well as us. We may leave them on the ship or for go a shore excursions and just wander close to the ship. My mother in law is only going for the food. She wants to see how high she can get her blood sugar before I have a melt down:thumbsup2 I might have to self medicate.:lmao:

Has anyone seen any of the navigators for the westbound PC cruise?

I am going in search of the current vide someone mentioned. Maybe it will give me good dreams

I

LOVED the cooking demonstrations. I was just looking at some of the recipes the other day.

Cheryl, Kelly and I went to one on our last cruise in 2006. We were waiting in the lobby for the boys for something else and peeked into the room as they were just setting things up. We got front row seats and the chef came over and chatted with us ahead of time. He made a beef stir fry that was delicious:cloud9:
They passed out a small glass of wine for tasting too:woohoo:

Guess a lot of people are cancelling before the 90 !!!

And now, for my eight thousand, nine hundredth posting...

Yeah I agree... It would appear that her parents aren't helping her learn...

cc-banner.gif

Your comment reminded me to look up a web site called "character counts" that a local news-radio commentator ( Michael Josephson) touts - I often LIKE what he has to share about the merits of practicing good deeds and fair minded conduct....
... and here's a posting I read from it that left me upbeat and positive in a nice way....

character counts said:

When a pessimist is told there's light at the end of the tunnel, he's likely to assume it's an onrushing train. According to journalist Sydney Harris, "A cynic is not merely one who reads bitter lessons from the past; he's prematurely disappointed in the future."

Pessimism and cynicism are fashionable these days, but it's the people who see and celebrate the positive aspects of life who live best.

According to a well-traveled story, when Tillie died in her nineties, her friends were taken aback when they viewed her body and noticed a fork in her right hand. Tillie knew this would provoke questions so she had instructed her pastor to give anyone who asked about the fork a copy of a signed note that read:

"I'm glad you asked about the fork. I've been to lots of church socials and potluck dinners in my life, and one thing I've noticed is when the dishes and flatware for the main course are being cleared, someone usually says, 'Keep your fork.' I loved that part because I knew dessert, the best part of dinner, was coming. So even as I pass from this life, I wanted a fork in my hand to remind you the best is yet to come."

British wit Samuel Johnson called hope a species of happiness. To the extent we can discipline ourselves to choose our attitudes, it only makes sense to think positively and be hopeful.

This is Michael Josephson reminding you that character counts.

I'm not perfect but I'm trying to be .... as best I can...

That's interesting. I'd expect to see that on Tuesday next week - but this early? Either a bunch of cabins were released, or DCL expects a bunch to be released and wants to start selling this weekend?

Thanks! We were thinking of booking best of Aruba, but not now.

Go read "travelling the EB Repo with my EX" (I think that's the title) trip report. They had a mini van with a driver and a tour guide - 6 people - $15 each for 2 1/2 hours. Sounded really good. I would consider that if we weren't doing Roger's Jolly Pirate adventure.

Also, they mentioned about renting a jogging stroller for the day from guest services - $200 deposit which is credited back when you return the stroller.

Guess a lot of people are cancelling before the 90 !!!

I just checked for our sailing and QUADS with kids our age... 4 and 7.... I got the following:

Catagory 9 = $ 9,840.16

Catagory 10 = $ 8,640.16

I'm paying somewhat less for my catagory 9... plus I got my DCL on-board rebooking discount + cabin credit ... and the TA credit to boot. So like just about all of us... I am OK with the deal.

Love the photo Crash:lovestruc
You both look so young:goodvibes

Laurie...

This photo was taken TWENTY TWO or THREE YEARS AGO. Yeah... that's only 8,030 to 8,395 days ago not adjusting for leap years. Hard to imagine that what seems like a huge lifetime of experiences with my sweetheart only amounts to 8000-8400 days together since this photo was snapped. 8000 seems like entirely too small a number for such a huge slice of life, eh?

And yeah... we were young kids there, eh?

Gee... I just look at that picture and all kinds of memories come back to me. Can YOU remember what you were up to 22 years ago back in 1984 or 1985?

Below left ... 22 years ago. Below right ... 8 years ago... and at bottom center is an image from this past Thanksgiving in Boston...

2 adults + 2 kids age 13 and 12..... I got the following:

Category 5 = $12715.16
Category 6 = $12515.16

ouch!

Went back an plugged in only 2 adults and still only showing the CAT 5 & 6.

Our CAT8 is still GTY.......

Ok..I have played ketchup! You all were chatty while I was gone for a few hours...I am the cookie manager for our neighborhood (which means that I do all the paperwork and cookie scheduling for 30 troops in our area) and tonight was our wrap up meeting..while I was there..I found out that DD was indeed the top seller this year out of the 6000 girls in our Council who sold cookies! We are keeping it a secret from her until the cookie party that the Council gives to celebrate all the girls who sold over 500 boxes. They will announce it then and give her the prize..she won a Wii.

As for lanyards....we are currently at 86 lanyards! :woohoo: I like the wording "DCL Magic"..

Hi Gang,

Second - thanks for al the kind words re my FIL's passing. He was 90 and suffered from Alzheimer's. He was a wonderful man - I'm sure he's in a much better place right now!!

This is a quick hello as we're leaving for the airport soon to fly up to S.F. for the services ( DD Lori/DGS Matt & me - DSIL can't get away & he'll care for the dogs.)

I'll try to check back while I'm NoCal.

Sorry to hear about your FIL - the weather is suppose to be great up here.

For those of you planning on booking SupperShuttle here is a discount code to use for $3 off a one way fare.

THANKS!

Looks great!
Beans in general are mushy..It's a texture thing!
Chrissie

EXACTLY

So... while at Best Buy I stumbled upon a clearanced Sony camcorder. The DCR-DVD108... an entry level DVD bruning camcorder reduced from $400 to $125... however, it is missing the battery and charger, box and so on. But it looked to be in pristine condition... the lense looked unmolested - no dust and the mechanism was dust free and operated crisply..... So, I thought... gee, Alicia has been clammoring for us to get another one of these things - only a DVD buring model. So I bought it! And just now I picked up a high cap battery (2100ma versus Sony's normal battery at 1800ma) with charger from Hong Kong via ebay for $28 including shipping! And I bought a spindle of 50 mini DVDRW discs in the 1.4GB size (30 minutes) made by Phillips for only $26 shipped plus tax - and they will be sent locally from Irvine! I found that the lowest street price on the camcorder appears to be $300 from reliable sellers on the internet - the only type I prefer. So I saved about half for tolerating a used display model and non-original charger however I have a higher capacity battery (+ 20% power rating).

That is AWESOME! I am trying to figure out what I am going to get for the cruise (hopefully with my stimulus check).

How wierd.... you were quoted catagories 5 and 6 but not my search results of catagory 9 or 10. I guess someone snatched it up while 2 in cat 5 and 6 did not complete checkout and returned into availability. Now I've run a search with just 2 in the cabin and got catagories as follows:

Cat 5 = 8,557

Cat 6 = 8,357

Cat 9 = 6,597

Now I'll run another search for a quad with 2 kids aged 4 and 7:

Now I get catagories:

Cat 5 = 12,400

Cat 6 = 12,200

Cat 9 = 9,840

It's bouncing around quite a bit - and the categories also change based on number of kids. Keep in mind that DCL doesn't just control capacity based on cabins - it has a total passenger count to consider (it can't actually fill every cabin to max passengers), and it has capacity limits in each age group as well.

For 2 adults + 2 kids, I'm seeing a 6, 9 and 10.
For 2 adults, I'm seeing 6, 7, 9 and 10.
A category 5 seems to appear and vanish periodically.

We also have no complaints on the price we have (I think we booked at tier 1 or 2) - it's substantially less than what we're seeing now.

And if, by some unlikely chance, they end up selling category 12's at an even lower price - that's ok too, I can always downgrade. But I really don't expect that to happen this time.
