Hi my name is Becky. Myself, my brother Stephen (Nacho1337 on the DIS), my Mom Linda and Dad David are booked on this cruise. It is in celebration of my Mom's 50th birthday. My parents are booked in a category 11 gty and my brother and I are booked in a cat 12 gty.

Now I just need to have my vacation time approved by my supervisor, who only returns to work on Monday, which is exactly 90 days out when total payment is due.:headache: I could use tons of good wishes that I can actually go. Everyone else is able to go, but I am not sure as my supervisor is on vacation.

This will be my parents second cruise, as all 4 of us were on a 4 day Wonder cruise in 2005. It will be my brother and I's 4th cruise.

Hope to get to know all of you better and I can not wait to be on board. This is so different from my previous cruises in which I had long countdowns. So:banana:  :yay: :yay: much too do so little time.

WELCOME

AND, GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Which is why dh & I love the Lanyards. Dh is a very quiet, shy kind of guy BUT, if he saw one of the Lanyards he actually went up and talked to the person! He told me he did that on excursions, also -- we usually do separate excursions since I HATE the beach and he LOVES the beach. :rotfl:

stinky.gif

Well... I like lanyards. And I like T-****s however after 15 days I wonder if anyone will notice the general stick about the ship from everyone wearing the same shirt everyday?

toxic_man_diaper_stinky_hg_wht.gif

And BTW... my family loves the warm water beaches. So we spend a lot of time hunting after thier warm sands and waters.

The in laws are 85/86 years old. They are somewhat active, but then even a ball and chain move.:rotfl2: It is hard to find a shore excursion that will accomodate them as well as us. We may leave them on the ship or for go a shore excursions and just wander close to the ship. My mother in law is only going for the food. She wants to see how high she can get her blood sugar before I have a melt down:thumbsup2 I might have to self medicate.:lmao:

I'm having a hard time with shore excursions since I usually book DH the beach/snorkle ones and me the tour bus ones --- DH doesn't want to get off the ship in the Mexican Ports. He hates snorkeling in the Pacific Ocean -- it is ugly and cold compared to anywhere else.......

Time to pay down debt!

but wait, that's not what they want me to do with it... I should go spend foolishly and... NOT!

the economy is bad. first i go to the mall to by a travel book for jury duty tomorrow, well the book store closed along with a quarter of the other stores.
than i go home get my wife go to.. another mall, so we go out to this restaurant that usually has around a half hour to an hour wait to get in,i told my wife we will probaly wait around 15 minutes to get in since the economy is bad, nope we walked right in the restaurant was only half full and this was at 5:45.

What then heck..relocate the Magic on Lake Erie when the new ships are done and we can tender in on the Jet Express;)

jetexpress.gif

Yeah.... ummmmmm

Lake Erie, book me a cruise there.... stopping where? what shore excursions.....

sorry, just cringe thinking of it.... Aruba or Erie, PA....

I thought I would drop by and introduce myself. We are on this cruise and for some strange reason not as excited as we were last year with the Med Repo. I thought a little dose of the DIS might be just what the doctor ordered.

We are traveling with no children this time (ours are all adults, but we are not even bringing a grandchild). There are 6 of us. Me and DH, his brother who is married to my sister and the in-laws. Not a very exciting group, maybe that is my problem:rotfl2:

I have not even explored shore excursions. I have 2 days before I can book, so I guess I have time;)

We are flying in the day before and staying right by the ship. I wish we could do DL, but not with this gang. There is not enough prozac in the world to help me cope with taking my father in law to DL.:scared1: He is an old retired Marine who has no patience for lines, heck he has no patience for waiting.

I have thrown in the towel on trying to read up on all the happenings as you are all a busy bunch. I will check the link provided to me and read the readers digest version.

So, in the mean time if some of you could send some pixie dust this way to help increase my excitement I would be grateful.:worship:
WELCOME ABOARD:cheer2: :cheer2:

I DID manage to stay off the "urinating" thread.

I just wonder why the OP says she's never cruising DCL again because of this??? Does she honestly think that type of thing is less likely to happen or to be handled (no pun intended) any differently on another cruise line? I say good riddance! More chance for the rest of us to get the Roy.
I thought the same thing Stace:confused3

Hi Gang,

First

BELEATED HAPPY BIRTDAY TO ALL I MISSED!!!

Second - thanks for al the kind words re my FIL's passing. He was 90 and suffered from Alzheimer's. He was a wonderful man - I'm sure he's in a much better place right now!!

This is a quick hello as we're leaving for the airport soon to fly up to S.F. for the services ( DD Lori/DGS Matt & me - DSIL can't get away & he'll care for the dogs.)

Wench's Tea: On the Med repo last summer I took a list of names (full names & ressie numbers) to Palo upon boarding and gave it to PJ the manager there and the date we requested. He said no problem he'd make it work. There were about 25 ladies - no private room for tea - so he put two large tables adjacent to one another.

Wench's Brunch: The room holds max 14 - I've sent in a request for 8/23. If there is more interest I'll send in a request for a 2nd day. DCL responded that they would let me know after the 30day mark whether they can accomodate us. Requests have been made for the private room for brunch for nearly every sea day. Those interested need to send me a pm w/full names & ressie numbers.

Bus from DL area to Port - Have contacted 3 bus companies for info & quotes - but that's on hold until I get back after the funeral.

I'll try to check back while I'm NoCal.

Chris -Sorry about your FIL:grouphug:

Thanks for the info:thumbsup2

OMG, too funny. We did the exact same thing (just substitute 15 month old).

Sad thing was, we were with my Mother for several hours before she noticed.....

We did this, too, when I was pregnant with #2. We took a photo of DS in the "I'm a Big Brother" shirt and emailed it to our family since they were all out of state. My dad got the photo and printed it out to show to my brother, apparently not paying any attention to the shirt. It wasn't until my brother asked him if I was pregnant that he "got it"! :rotfl:

Kim

Laura....hope you are having a fantastic time! You deserve it!

I am going brag on Laura for a moment.....she PM'd me before she left, and offered to cover the $175 fee DCL wanted to charge for the microphone for Mass. What a great lady!

I told her we would just do without if DCL could not donate it, and of course, now we have learned that they will. But still....that was VERY generous of Laura to offer!

I am so lucky Laura will be at our dining table. This just proves I nmade a great choice!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hey Roger

Still thinking about a scavenger hunt?

Oh can we hide John for the Scavenger hunt and forget to look for him!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yes, we need to get that on the planning. I have been thinking about it but can't come up with any clues that aren't too hard or too easy. Guess we will have to form a task-force or steering committee.

Soo I can join another drinking task force!!!:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

We had to wait for a table tonight when we went out to dinner.... The Economy in our area is doing alright -- except for the gas prices! LOL! Our area is still getting more new jobs then people being laid off --- there was an article in the Star Telegram a while back (a month or so?) about our area's economy.

Most home owners are also getting checks from Natural Gas companies for Gas leases -- my mom got $700 the other day......

Thanks for such a warm welcome. I was on the west bound med repo last year. I am hoping that DCL does some of the same activities. I really enjoyed the cooking demonstrations. I doubt they will because there are so many port of calls.

Has anyone seen any of the navigators for the westbound PC cruise?

I am going in search of the current vide someone mentioned. Maybe it will give me good dreams

This stirs some humorous recollections of how we've always run a bachelor party when I'm on the "committee". We always get an old bowling ball and tap a bolt into it - to attach a length of chain with a hand made cuff. And we always hold the groom to be still long enough to attach the thing. THe bride gets the key and can do with it as she pleases. Once we drove the groom back to find the bride to be waiting at the end of the driveway... pretty much tapping her foot in impatience at our slow return of her spouse to be. And I couldn't help but wonder - gee - we're all too INNOCENT to draw this kind of treatment... eh?

Here's my sweet master of the "ball and chain" that has me happily shackled up ... a photo of us about 22-23 years ago when we were on Oahu touring over the pass where the Japanese Naval aircraft flew in to attack Pearl harbor. This pass was on a restricted military air base - not a spot just any ordnary tourist could reach. Our guide was cousin Arlene who had been assigned to "check me out" a bit for the rest of the family. I guess I did a good job of foolin' her since we're still together 24.5 years later.... < wink >

i5F452BFD-4E6A-4716-9583-7A603DB8148B.jpg

We were such kids back then... Gee... look at how SKINNY I was.... aside from that, this photo brings back tremendously fond memories for me ta glance at.... sigh.

WAY COOL! That ranks up there with my MIL playing basketball with Elvis at the YWCA in Memphis (where she lived) when he was waiting for his date to get ready!

Where do you find this stuff Diane? This is great :thumbsup2

I was actually looking for a pirate thief image to post since Tom STOLE another pirate, but I came up with the game instead.

Thank You. Thank you very much!

:lovestruc

OMG! Didn't any of you people sleep last night??

...blah blah blah edited

We've also established that pirate:s also don't wear crocs or sing sappy muzak love songs.

Guess I'm not a pirate! That's okay, I prefer to be a sappy wench! ;)

As I mentioned last night, we had quite the ordeal at the 6th grade Math at the Mall Fieldtrip that both my DW and I attended as chaperones. I'll try to give everyone a condensed version, but it's still a long story.

....edited

Out of shear luck, my DW happened to walk into the GameStop store yesterday afternoon as this neighbor girl was selling back 14 of our Nintendo DS games. (They all had our last name in permanent ink written on the back). She was going to get over $160 for them according to the sales clerk!

When the girl saw my DW walk in, she immediately confronted her and told my DW that our 13 year old son, John had given them to her. A little later the story was John had given her two and our six year old had given her the rest. There were 3 different Super Mario Brothers games as each of our boys had their own!

...edited
This morning we filed charges in our county against her. It's only a misdemeanor and the SRO said most likely she'd be charged with 3 different crimes and would plead one of them in exchange for community service.

Needless to say, she's not getting a third chance.

Oh and one more thing, her Mom was on the field trip with her and was going to let her sell our games back to the store. He Mom has our cell phone numbers and knew we were on the field trip!

And this is just middle school!:confused3

You did the right thing! Hopefully this will all pass soon & you get on with planning a TOAL! :wizard:

Looks great!

Beans in general are mushy..It's a texture thing!

I love Mexican food & hate beans too! :thumbsup2

Elvis is awesome....

I agree!!!

Unreal!

I have been chatting back and forth with Desiree...You will have awesome tags fellow pirates!Wow Cheryl is pushy!:lmao:

Chrissie

Ok..here is what I have. I am not sure of the exact wording until I can call them and find out the number of characters allowed.

I chose Black to appease the Captain and bright green to appease the Disers.

Thanks!

If you think the font is to difficult to read..I can change it to a basic print as well..this font just looked kinda of pirate-y to me!

Nice job! Looks great!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the support from you and everyone else today. It's been tense today as the police didn't serve her with a court summons until tonight. She didn't show up to school today and the admin said they tried to call both parents as no one called in to say she would be gone so it's an unexcused absence. Yet, she was out playing after school with the other kids. So far, no contact and the police told us they would tell her and her parents not to call or contact us. Before tonight, she has sent down her siblings and friends to try to get our son to call her or come talk to her. It was a tough thing to do and we questioned ourselves a lot, but hope this helps change her for the better.

You did the right thing Christopher:sad2: Better this than something more serious down the road.

OMG!!!! You guys need to slow down...........:lmao:

Hey Roger

Still thinking about a scavenger hunt?

Now that sounds like fun.............

Got my Passport back.Sent it on May 1. Funny in 2 mailings. One was the old and the other one the renewal. DH didn't get his yet so I told him he probably is on their list.... He was not amused.

Great sequence of Aruba photos. The first real cruise Alicia and I took together was on the Carnival Fascination in thier biggest suite - a 440 foot "penthouse" which made a great big circle stopping at Aruba among other places. And as such - I vaguely remember some of these places:

2362908538_4ca56ba571_m.jpg
2256055343_2cda048757_m.jpg

After the cruise we spent a week at a property called the Americana on the sand. It was typical for their resorts - not a bargain - and not the most luxe or expensive. I vaguely recall we had a package deal of some sort.

Happy Birthday Kelly!

Please let Kelly know that Hailey, Zack, and Nick wished her a Happy Birthday and hope she had a great day!
