Good morning everyone & Happy Mother's Day! Do you think I can celebrate again too? Watched the Magic on the webcam last night & found it quite emotionL (sad I know). Having been working on FE & hope to finiah today so will then post a piccie. Weather here is great - wall to wall sunshine so have been out in the garden & yesterday went for a bike ride (will hopefully shift those last 7 stubborn pounds)

Welcome to those that have joined & happy birthday to those I have missed - life has hit "frantic" at present so keeping ketchup going is an achievement & I don't have time to read any of the other boards!

Morning everyone and Happy Mothers Day !!!!!

It is cloudy and no Sun :sad1:

Currently 74 Mostly Cloudy high 91.Thunderstorm or 2 predicted.
I predict it will be at 2:30 as I leave the building for lunch.:lmao:

I'm hoping I will get a surprise and find out I got my 4 hours off tonight so we can go do dinner.:thumbsup2 Have a great day.

Me too! I usually have a list made really early, but I have been procrastinating this one.... Does anyone who has already made a list want to share? I'm sure we would need to personalize it, but it might be less daunting a task if there was a list to start from.

Pamela

There are several on the website under useful info and several on the planning boards (this is a good place to put reminders for all, such as bug spray!)

You know what? I'm actually afraid to make a list! I don't think I even want to know how much carp I'm going to need for this cruise! :headache:

Was just thinking about that as I just found out that starting June 1st, JetBlue is going to charge $20 for the 2nd checked bag and $75 for the 3rd. :sad2: :headache:

Happy Mother's Day all! Heading ou now to take my mom out for breakfast. Hoping to find a place that gives out free flowers. :rolleyes1 ;)

I finally got the video uploaded to youtube. Turned out the firewire was still connected to my old computer and wasted around 2 hrs trying to get the darn thing to work on my new one.:confused3

It was very noisy at the park. Kids running all over and DH asking the occasional question, there was lots of editing. I do stand corrected when I said the Magic didn't sound the horn again. It did. I'm off to sleep as I do have :surfweb: tomorrow. With all the time I needed off for this trip, the personal time requests were pretty much turned down. I don't like the quality of the video on the web. Trying more options. If it comes out better I will switch it.

Wow! I loved it!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this for us.

There have been a few isolated posts about info/books/etc. on the Panama Canal (oh and Pamela, that book that someone posted for kids, we have it, its pretty good), so after watching Arlene's video of the Magic departing, I searched youtube for videos about TPC construction/history and have linked a BUNCH of them on the website

Happy Mother's Day

Sorry for not talking much, but I am all caught up until now.
Happy Birthday to all I've missed. Happy Anniversary to all I've missed.
Congrats to all that have PIF. :grouphug: to all that need any.
Thanks for all of the pictures of the magic sailing away. They were great.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the mother's out there.

G'mornin' pirate:s
Would you believe I slept in today?? Wow! I don't remember the last time I did that. My boys brought me 'breakfast' in bed (I use that term loosly, but they tried).

Wellll.....That's the Pacific side and I really don't know if they eat salsa. The last time when I was in Manzinillo I didn't see/have any! But, they do put plenty of limes on rolls and other food.

That part of Mexico has a totally different type of food then this side.

Salsa may be more Tex-Mex.
I'll ask dh since that is the part of Mexico that he goes to all the time. That's where all the Tanneries are! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: And he has gone deep sea fishing in Cabo for a week.

I love love love Baja California Mexican food, but your right, it is very different from Tex-Mex. I know the logic behind your statement. I just thought it was funny that you are packing chips and salsa for a Mexican cruise.

I asked dh about the salsa and tortillas.... He said *Not the type of salsa that we are used to. It is just cut up tomato and onion served with corn tortillas.*

Mostly hard rolls and lime are served. Now if you are going to a touristy place they probably have salsa & flour totillas -- they cater to *US Americans*.

He said they do have guacamole but, I personally hate avacados. :rolleyes1

Yeah your right BC salsa is less soupy than Tex-Mex. Diced tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc. Our favorite Baja place in San Diego had a great salsa bar and they just threw a stack of corn and flour tortillas (not fried chips) in the middle of the table. They also served peel and eat grilled shrimp and longastinos in buckets. MMmmmm. Have I mentioned that I love Baja Mexican food???

OH! By the way, of the 2100 people on board - 1800 are prepeat guests! :scared1:

That would have been close to my guess.
Who else is looking forward to midnight next week???

Disney Visa Rewards

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think about this, but I haven't seen it posted, so I thought I'd mention it. If your Disney Rewards Visa statement closing date is during TOAL you may want to try this...

My statement closing date is the 28th of the month. So on Aug. 27, I'm going to march down to GS and settle my account (so far). Then, if we get close enough for phone coverage the night before we pull in to FL, I'll call and transfer the new reward dollars to my rewards card & use them for the rest of my bill. If I don't get them transferred while we are onboard, I'll do it when we get off the ship & we'll use them for food and whatnot at MK later that day.

We can all tell the phone reps that Arlene says "Hi"

:)

Got to say not looking forward to it, it will be 5am Monday here, so I have tried to avoid as much as possible.

Still really agonizing over Acapulco, its the times in port, but I must say leaning now towards walking it myself, doing the fort at 9am, (have sent and E.mail to them asking if they will open early for non DCL visits)thats just over the footbridge from the port, then a walk to the Market, Zocalo two blocks, and cathedral, one block, and the post office to post some cards, basically the Acapulco highlights tour without the cliff divers for the cost of the fort.

I have little inclination to do a DCL tour in a hot bus, when I have seen the cliff divers before.

Cabo and PV and Aruba all sorted out so its just Cartagena to book.
