Got any good restaurants near you Old Town Alexandria has some good places. I've only been to Bilbo Baggins (I'm a Tolkien fan and couldn't resist )

I'm sure there are great restaurants in Old Town. I've only been to one, but if that area is OK with everyone I can do some recon.

Same thing I was hearing!

Did your pigs have devil horns too?

That is our problem, also. We made the mistake of buying the really good *spinners* and they are a little heavy empty.....I may have to buy a couple of inexpensive large suitcases.... It will drive dh crazy that our luggage won't match! :rotfl: :rotfl:

3 words: rolling duffle bag.

I bought 2 at Costco for about $25/each and they seem pretty sturdy, light, and big. I'm checking those and a rolling garment bag for the fancy clothes when the kids and I fly. DH is flying seperately and checking his sea bag. I can fit all of our folding clothes and shoes in that puppy.

I could tell you. But, then I'd have to kill you. :rotfl2:

What makes you think that all women don't already know?
We're just humoring you guys.

Happy 42nd Birthday Steve!

my little bro is pretty cool.
Tell Darren we hope he feels better soon !!

Lisa the way you describe your relationship with your brother, reminds me of my relationship with my brother as well. We get along so great. He cracks the pee out of me!

You know how radio stations trot out the dogs barking Jingle Bells every Christmas?

All I can hear in my head right now is pigs snorting the Chariots of Fire theme.

If I my dh reads this, he will be snorting that tune EVERY morning on the cruise!

Hi Pete

There are no new breakthroughs in the world of motion sickness. Cherie had a very tough time in 2005 off of Cabo (14 ft waves). She has since become a true believer in ginger. When we went to Alaska the next year we had purchased ginger capsules and took them prophylactically. She never had a problem. So your choices are scopalamine patch (can be sedating with dry mouth), Dramamine (dimenhydrinate) which causes sedation, Antivert/Dramamine Non-Drowsy (meclozine) probably the best choice with less sedation. Would not hurt to take along a couple of doses of Zofran ODT. I would recommend the ginger just because it is cheap and without side effects. It should be started 24 hours before departure. Hope this helps.

I use the Ginger and start taking them a day before the cruise. Rich has the Zofran and takes that along just in case. He has never had any problems . Go figure :confused3 Neither of us can take the OTC meds along with the others we take :sad2:

Wonder where Liz is today.

Currently 68 and a bit cloudy. We had rain yesterday.

Hope none of our group were near those tornadoes in S Va.

FINALLY done with a month's worth of overtime and a trip to WDW so I'm hoping to be a regular again. I know, I know, I've said it before, but just sitting here wasting time before work, reading your posts, I miss you guys!

Coral, I do my own color except for my once a year or so splurge. :)

I splurged this year, first time ever. Wanted some subtle highlights cause my hair is a darkish blackish ashish color. Now I've had grays since I was 14, but it was never noticble, I thought. WRONG! The hair dresser told me that we'd have to dye everything first because if she only did the highlights, it would look awful with all the gray I have. :sad2:

Dang- American Airlines just implemented $25.00 for over 1 bag. They are at least grandfathering those who already have tickets.

I'm waiting for JetBlue to go this route, but doing like Delta and not grandfathering in those who already purchased tickets. I've already decided to bring two suitcases, but because I decided on this, I just KNOW they're going to charge me now.

It is a great feeling til I look at my credit card bill!!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

That'll be my feeling too, come this weekend. Except I also have a week's worth of WDW with 3 nieces, 1 nephew & a SIL on there. This month is REALLY going to hurt!

DCL has also added the WII on board.

I totally read that wrong!! In my 'real job' I've had to read a lot of stories lately from servicemen and their relatives about their days serving in WWII and I couldn't figure out what DCL had to do with WWII. :rotfl:

Man, this group talks alot.

Glad to see to see that some things change and some things stay the same. ;) :thumbsup2

It will drive dh crazy that our luggage won't match! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I completely understand. I have a large and a small suitcase that matches. Now I wish I had purchased two of the smaller ones instead, makes it easier to stay under the weight limit. But I WILL NOT buy another suitcase unless it matches the old one. Sad this is, I can't remember exactly what 'type' I'm looking for! :headache:

I haven't had problems with motion sickness, but for some reason I always get nauseus that first day on the ship, probably because I tend to chug that first bahama mama.

I have the same problem, but it's not the bahama mamas. I don't get nauseus but I do get dizzy. I need a day or two to find me sea legs so I use Bonine. Use that at the theme parks, too, when I have kids who want me to ride everything. Still can't handle tea cups or watch carousels.

If I my dh reads this, he will be snorting that tune EVERY morning on the cruise!

Good thing no one else is in the office yet cause that's exactly what I just did! :lmao:

:cheer2: :cheer2: Happy birthday, Steve!:cheer2: :cheer2:

:cheer2: :cheer2: Happy birthday, Ron!:cheer2: :cheer2:

We bought new luggage a few years ago, and never bothered to measure the really large case until shortly before our first flight with them. Stupid, I know. Anyway, it turns out the really large case is considered oversized by just a few inches. We didn't want to take the chance of bringing it because it would most likely be overweight as well, so we'd have to pay oversized and overweight charges. Might as well pay for another person to fly!

So, needless to say, we only use the really large case when we are driving somewhere on vacation. And....we never match in an airport. Oh well! Nothing we can do about it now, as the color has been discontinued.

I guess I don't really care all that much if my luggage matches, though. My clothes rarely do! LOL!

Or we could try a Baltimore/DC spot for dinner for May 10th ?

I'm up for anything, but I can't really get anywhere until 6-ish.

DOH!!!!!!! I was going to suggest an evening picnic at Gravely... (DH loves it there and room for the kids to run around) but 6 may be a little late. (5 would be better)

If that doesn't work how bout something near Tysons. It just makes for a long night trying to get out of the "city" when it takes us an hour to get home from DC.

For some reason other teenagers assume you are around 14 or 15 if you have braces (she didn't lose all her baby teeth until this past year....)

My DD had all her adult teeth at 10 though :confused3

That is the trip that the kids and i went on this past August -- it is FANTASTIC!!!

I'd love to enter the contest but if i won i would have any time off to go...:headache:

Nothing we can do about it now, as the color has been discontinued.

We've gone with a "black" color scheme so it doesn't really matter that we now have 4 different sets.

One thing to note about cheap luggage...(think Target $40 for a set of 8) is that is doesn't hold up very well. The airline handlers are very rough as well as the dock handlers. Last cruise i lost about 4 pieces to various damage/implosion. (it was the cheapy set) I replaced the larger cases we lost with a slightly higher quality this time.

For myself i am going with one rolling garment bag; one large case.

DH will get two larger cases for himself. (of course my shoes & other stuff will be in one of them. ;) )

We should have gone with black, but we were thought the olive with tan leather trim that we chose would be easy to spot at the baggage turnstyle. So now we are left with a potpourri of luggage styles.

Please forgive me in advance... some lines are too easy....

Andrew could offer you some advice on this I believe... or at least on how to shop for products...

Tough job: Volunteers needed for chocolate study
Mon Apr 28, 2008 12:53pm EDT
By Michael Kahn

LONDON (Reuters) - Calling all chocoholics: British researchers recruiting volunteers willing to eat a bar of chocolate daily for a year, guilt-free and all in the name of science.

The trial starting in June will explore whether compounds called flavonoids found in chocolate and other foods can reduce the risk of heart disease for menopausal women with type 2 diabetes, the researchers said on Monday.
