Arlene it is up to you do the Central Florida weather:) :)

We will not be back until Wednesday...

Anyone around the D.C. area.. I will be at National Cathedral on Saturday at 10.00 AM :cool1: :cool1:

Have a wonderful trip and best wishes to your dd:goodvibes

Wendy (Smeecanada) ask about Raleigh the other night in chat so here is an update. He is about 38 lbs now and getting into everything as evidenced by this photo.

He has gotten big.:goodvibes

Woo-Hoo! I got DIS mail today! Last week, my email was read on the podcast and my T-s*** arrived today :yay:

I had DS take a photo so I could post it (no one here "gets it" why I am excited!) Not the best photo of me ever, but since I was coaching him through how to use the camera at the same time, it isn't too bad!

Pamela

Congrats Pamela! We understand:)

Even one per cabin sounds like a HUGE undertaking if we are actually talking 150 to 200 cabins! The cost is huge and the amount of space in the luggage could be huge. Most cruises that do this seem to have 10 to 30 cabins which is very do-able - but the shear quantity here is starting to scare me off. :scared1: I would love to do it, but I can't afford to spend $100-$200 or more on this plus the cost to bring extra luggage ....  I could probably handle 50, but 3 to 4 times that amount is just scary.

Pamela

Agreed...

... even on our last Disney sailing we had 120 cabins or something like that. I had already bought things that were more suitable for hte kids - so I just gave fish extender gifts to the kids.

however, that said, I am considering a number of options for every cabin listed in our DIS group. < wink >

On another note - I had mentioned my BIL may not come along after all. His spouse is expecting thier 3rd child - so an update: It seems he is still on the fence - but has a valid consideration / case for going anyways. So I'd dsay he might go after all... although as of today he was careful to be neutral on this issue.

Anyone interested in maybe taking over a reservation for a quad window at what I think is tier 2 is welcome to let me know about thier interest.

Yep - I did mean Pasty and I love them also. They seem to be unheard of around Chicago. The last one I had was about 2 years ago near Galena (but I think we were probably over the boarder into Wisconsin.)

For those with dirty minds - we are talking about a food! :rotfl2: (Nothing to do with ladies who are going to catch a chill wearing too few clothes!) They are a sort of meat pie. The story I have heard is that they come from cornwall England and were baked as to-go food for the miners to take to work.

Pamela

I think I agree with your story. We had them in the UP of Michigan in the mostly desserted mining towns. They are soooooo good! When we got back from that trip 15 years ago, I found somewhere that made them here in Wisconsin and we got them a few times and then forgot about them. I will do some homework. We could have a pasty mini meet...get your minds out of the gutters men...

party: party: :dancer: :dancer: Add us to the PIF list!!!!party: party: :dancer::dancer:

Congrats!:woohoo:
Hey guys - for those of you in the know - we got some results back FINALLY and it doesn't look good - so I may be a bit absent but I'll be popping in and out.

Laura, I will keep you and your family in my prayers:grouphug:

Thank you all for the well wishes. Everything went well. Much better than I expected. I am currently coming down off the Valium/Vicodin and waiting for the Lidocaine to wear off. The microwaving did not really hurt it was the 20-30 injections to numb the area. I have to take it easy for the next couple of weeks (no biking) :sad1: but I am up walking around right now. I have another couple of hours before I get to take my next meds if I need them. I will post before and after pictures after everything is healed.

:goodvibes So glad to hear Roger!
Happy Birthday Jakob!

Happy Birthday Sara!

curlybow_lg.jpg

pirate: ing the wishes, hope you both had great days!:)

Here's mine. No sewing involved. Just a hot glue gun and scissors. I folded a long strip of fabric over a wood dowell. Glued the sides together to make a seam. Used a different fabric and cut pockets, then glued those to the big strip. Wrapped some ribbon around the ends of the dowell and there you go. Oh and used stickers to put my screen name on it.

100_1427.jpg

Very nice Monica:thumbsup2

OMG.... 11% sales tax... YIKES! And $4 a gallon - that's nothing new to us out here... however we average paying around $3.75 a gallon for regular because we put off buying until we see a place with lower prices.

Oh ... hello Paula... I didn't see ya lurking over my shoulder there.... < wink >

As I wuz saying.... I LOVE the convenience my car gives me - and if it costs us 4 bucks a gallon then that;s a BARGAIN for getting around town when we want, eh? Isn't that so Paula?

I agree convenience is great..............................theses prices not so much. With the switchout to summer blends we are having trouble getting all our grades of gas. We haven't been able to get a load of diesel for 2 weeks now and yesterday couldn't get Chevron's premium. There are 17 different blends of gas for different regions and it makes it almost impossible to compensate for different areas when there are supply issues. I ordered some new numbers today----I think we are gonna need some 4's here.:sad2:

They are also going to start charging $5.00 per elbow per armrest. So if you want to park your elbow's on the arm rest, it'll be $10 bucks for both elbows.

Also, $5.00 to enter the bathroom and $7.50 for each flush!

You've got that right.....I hope no one from United is looking at these suggestions.....They seem to have no fear about alienating all of their passengers except their elite frequent fliers. Pretty soon United's going to put coach in the baggage department unless you want to pay to upgrade to an actual seat......Of course you have to pay for any extra legroom, luggage, use of the bathroom, drinks, food, armrests, oxygen, headphones, internet access, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.

party: party: :dancer: :dancer: Add us to the PIF list!!!!party: party: :dancer::dancer:

Congrats!!

Ok..My head felt clear enough that I could make a list of what categories we have for the cabin tour so far. A few of you - I emailed that we had another volunteer of that category but if you really want yours included - let me know (I don't want anyone to feel left out!). here is what we have so far:

Cat. 11
Cat. 11 - sideways
Cat. 10
Cat. 9
Cat. 8
Cat. 6
Cat. 5

Notice what we are missing?? :confused3 Someone here must have a suite..feel free to donate it and make the rest of us envious!

Also..if you want to go on the tour..just drop me a PM and I will include you on the list. We expect the cabin tour will be the 2nd day out (1st day at sea).

Thanks!

Desiree

I'll drop you a PM. I see you already have a Cat 8. We were thinking about offering up our connecting Cat 8's in case you don't have any connecting rooms on the tour. I thought everyone could see what a "poor man's" suite looked like.

Lots of activity on the pirate zone boards today

Wish I had more time to ketchup on everything....work is very busy plus I'm blocked from viewing the piratezone at work. Perhaps I can look at it tomorrow night....I'm using my precious few moments of free time tonight to look at this site...

Glad procedure went well!!!:flower3: Just don't rush going on that bike.:rolleyes1

Kev just sent ours in last night. We'll get back around $3000.

Oh.....that must be my money I paid!!!:rotfl2:

At least it was quick

Quick but no defined answers!!!:lmao: What did we expect??:confused3

The "gifts" that we leave...do we mark them with who they are from or does it not matter? I just want to make sure that I do this correctly. Thanks!
Desiree

There is no correct way to give "fishy gifts." :thumbsup2 If you want to let people know who it was from or be anonymous. It is your choice. You can give one gift a family...just gifts to children....severl gifts to each family or none at all.:flower3:

Here's a pic of ours! I'm a terrible seamstress so, don't look too close.

fishextenders002.jpg

I need to add dh's name to ours (right next to mine) -- Zircon.

I have bought a couple of hundred fish extender gifts so far. I am ready for at least 2 days of deliveries to everyone!!! I got some great deals on Ebay for some really nice gifts! On the 10nt I was able to put pins in since I got such a great deal on them!!! So, far not this time but, at least one of the gifts has the same value!

Who had more fun getting presents.:confused3 I think the adults did!!!:lmao:

Note to self....make sure Cheryl has something everyday.....

Note to Steph5 and to everyone else....Cheryl loves:love: gifts in fish extender!!!! :cheer2: :yay:

Which is why I started buying last year. :goodvibes I've bought about 200 @ about $1 each..... I'm really excited though since one of the gifts (I think I have either 50 or 75 of them) is valued at $5!!! SO, far everything I've bought is a Disney item.

We got all kinds of great things on the Sept '06 10 nt -- stickers, temp tattoos, little bubbles, magnets, all kinds of cool things!!!

I have been buying fish gifts since last September!!!:flower3:

My cost for gas has finally passed 3.40 a gallon. I never dreamed I would see that day.

Gee....I miss our how much is gas on chat!!!!!!

Here's the thread talking about them in DL

On post #78, page 6, someone got an email from Disney. If they are ordered by April 30 they will be placed in August.

Here's the replica of my brick
74963DL_Brick-med.JPG
http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/500/74963DL_Brick-med.JPG

Fascinating...

... I had been wondering about these - and I've been wondering what I might get for Alicia next time an occassion comes along. And at $150 a brick + $35 for a replica for the home or office - this seems OK. Previously I had been considering a custom made bobble head figure for her too - possibly like one of these below costing just under $100:

woman_26_sm.jpg
woman_40_sm.jpg
bobblehead-215-sm.jpg
woman_12_sm.jpg

I think it would be a fine gag gift of sorts I figure. Plus there's one figure in particular with a girl just holding a towel and her bum bare which I favor having made up - however I'll not post an image of that one. You'll have to google it yourself as I'm trying to maintain my facade of INNOCENCE ... while avoiding DIS penalty points! OK... here's a web page with many bobble head samles including the one with the towel represented http://headbobble.com/women.html

Does anyone have any recommendations as to which bobble head figure I should have made up for Alicia?

Hey guys - for those of you in the know - we got some results back FINALLY and it doesn't look good - so I may be a bit absent but I'll be popping in and out.

Roger....I'm glad things are improving for you. Here's wishing you a speed recovery.

Laura, I'm not in the know but I will break out of my phobia of wishing others well ahead of time because of this fear that I will "jinx" them......we've had too much tragedy in our family the last couple of years and it seems that no matter how much we want things to go well, it just doesn't work out that way..... I hope no one thinks I'm being rude by not joining in on the best of luck wishes...

On another note, even though I was put on anti-gout medication last month, I had my worst flare-up ever tonight. It came on fast and I was literally in tears from the pain....Two anti-inflammatories, one hydrocodone and an icepack later, it's now tolerable enough for me to concentrate on doing some ketchup here. I know gout is nothing compared to everyone else who has serious issues...It's more of a huge nuisance than anything. It is frustrating as my DW and I had been getting up and working out this past week.

party: party: :dancer: :dancer: Add us to the PIF list!!!!party: party: :dancer::dancer:

Congrats Lorri!!!!:cool1:

Me again! :)
If anyone is addicted to Deadliest Catch as me- season starts tonight!
Go Sig!!!!!!

ME!!! ME!!!!!

How about an informal poll, not official sign ups, but a "hey we are interested list"?

I am finally getting caught up!!! I will go do the poll!!!:rolleyes1

OK, true confessions here.....

Real Housewives of NYC season finale is on tonite. I have not missed one episode of that train wreck :happytv:

I am addicted too!!:woohoo:

Also, $5.00 to enter the bathroom and $7.50 for each flush!
:lmao: You spoke the whole truth!!!:rotfl2:

Chris & Laura ....

.... I hope the extra chuckles from these images shed a healthy distraction from your health issues. We'll be sending pixie dust your way with our hopes and prayers this evening, and in the days to come.

And Roger .... glad things seem to be under control. Take it easy in the days and weeks to come. :thumbsup2

Ouch! My Father in law got this last time we took them on a cruise. He was in a lot of pain. Yuck, I hope you get better FAST!

The "gifts" that we leave...do we mark them with who they are from or does it not matter? I just want to make sure that I do this correctly.

Desiree

I'd recommend stickers saying who they're from - or you might team up with one or more friends to do something. Our last sailing had several DIS families pool resources to buy every cabin a custom printed magnetic dry erase panel with dry erase pen. they were roughly the size of of an index card - or maybe a little longer and not so wide. We ended up jotting messages back and forth through out the cruise.

Speaking of which - anyone want to share this kind of project/task force with me? Here are a couple of quick search results - and I figure we need enough folks contributing to bring the average cost donated to an agreeable level among those sharing the cost. http://www.fridgedoor.com/notmemmag.html

I remember how it took me several evenings to distribute the toys and gadgets I had for the DIS kids of our last DCL sailing. I litterially walked every floor with a list in hand while pushing a stroller with the gadgets inside. On a couple evenings ships security was shadowing me for much of the time as I passed out my fish extender gifts after midnite alone or with my DIS cabin neighbor LetsGOSteelers.

So if anyone is interested in this task force - please PM me. I've got a lot of the details worked out already (IMO) and would like to entertain help from one or two partners in crime.

Just wanted to post a THANK YOU to the neighbors who volunteered to staff the TASK FORCE for running the Magnetic Memo Board Project.

SPECIAL Thanks to

Now we have to get to work to put this thing together!

Thanks. I was going to try to find that. Basically they are doing away with the set patterns. We'll have to double check out KTTW card every night to figure out where we'll be dining.

I hear for the new ships they will be introducing an electronic KTTW card with an ultra-flat LCD display. You won't know your next dining location until five minutes before dinner time, at which point it will start flashing the letter on the card.

Not only will the restaurant be assigned randomly, but your table will as well - adding to the suspense and excitement of the trip and increasing the opportunities to meet new people.

I understand they are also considering random cabin assignment on longer cruises - where you'll go on excursions and when you get back your KKTW card will flash your new cabin number (cabin staff will already have moved your luggage to your new room). This will be done for all GTY passengers who didn't know where they would end up in the first place.

Laura,

Those things are a scam.......... My dd has been invited to several things over the years. Yeah looks goods.... spead thousands of dollars to send your kids somewhere... (Europe, Ireland, DC, etc....)

If i had a dollar for every ST who was sent an invite....:rolleyes1

Well the TOAL would have been PIF a long long time ago.... and i'd be upgrading to a CAT 1.

I agree! The companies ask teachers to recommend students. And the guidance counselor said that they get names from the PSAT, too. We were asked not to send in names from our school.

And prayers to you, Laura, for whatever is going on, that things turn out well.

:rotfl:
Thought about that and knew the possibility was there but ended up talking to a girl that went last year she's still at the school. She liked it and said it fueled her ambition to go to college so DD now wants to go. That is why I am considering flying her there. Essentially not sure I want to entrust my baby to the airlines - so I may as well make the best out of it. DD says it would look good on her college transcript especially since they are supposed to notify the local House of Rep and Senator.

Besides, the older two got to go to VA, Wash DC and Williamsburg when they were in the 8th grade - dd says this is her way of visiting those places. The problem was that the older two went with the American Heritage club from their school. DD is going on her own. I would seriously go over the edge if I sent her and something happened to her. This way - I could keep an eye on her on the flight there and back the rest is in God's hand.

I wouldn't say "scam". They are profitable for the organizers yes - but they can be an amazing experience for participants. Best not to think of it as an "award", but rather as an opportunity to consider.

Since you're a Castaway Club member, the pre-reserve services will be
available online beginning at 12:01 AM (Eastern Time Zone) on May 19,
2008, based on system availability.

Note the qualification
"...based on system availability"

But then again, everyone on this particular thread (having actually gotten a spot on the ship) knows firsthand what that means....

They are also going to start charging $5.00 per elbow per armrest. So if you want to park your elbow's on the arm rest, it'll be $10 bucks for both elbows.

The real nasty one is they are going to be charging $50/Oxygen mask in the event of an emergency. In the case of a sudden cabin depressurization, credit card readers will drop from the ceiling. Pay for yourself and put on your mask before paying for the masks of any children sitting near you.

Roger- wishing you a speedy recovery! You hang in there- you hear? :)

Hi everyone else!
Sorry haven't been around for a bit so I'm far behind on all the stuff going on with everyone! Happy birthday to all those I missed you birthdays. hehe

I got mickey mail tday!

Not from the DCL but from the mom's panel...I got a mousepad, tink pins a car magnet and WDW planning stuff!

Chrissie

What is the mom's panel? Darn I probably missed that a long time ago huh? LOL

Well I wanted to update everyone and let you know WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING ON THE TOAL!

well lots of things just been working for us- it's in the cards for us to go. hehe
Well you already know first off that the passports came by in speedy time with no problems with any of the "issues" we thought we might have with birth certificates, my name issue corrected, our remarriage certificate us both having the same last names, etc.

Well even more things are going our way!

We now know we're getting the economic stimulus pymt right after PIF for the TOAL so that helps.
DH has been getting overtime for a few weeks now and if it keeps up that way it will help a LOT!
We also figured out that if I leave with the kids to go to DL alone and DH works that week and joins us Friday night... he not only works that week (= $$ ofcourse) but he was able to "sell" one of his weeks of vacation since he won't be gone as long as us... so that = $$ ofcourse. ;)
oh and add tax refund ofcourse...

And even if he doesn't end up continuing to get this overtime he's been getting recently - I recently closed out some credit card accounts (that we never used for years but they keep trying to charge us annual fees and then we have to call to get those waived, sometimes they don't get them waived and start charging late fees on annual fees and it takes a lot of phone calls every year to get it all straightened out- so I tried to get the annual fee permanently since our credit rating is almost 800 so that's ridiculous to charge us annual fees on the cc- and they would so we closed them) and opened up another acct that is 0% interest on purchases till Jan 09. so if we NEED to put any part of the trip on that CC- atleast it won't be any interest and I would definitely get it paid off in full before Jan 09.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
We are still having to really budget and not spend anything extra anywhere- and we may still be the "poor" family on the cruise  but atleast we'll be on the ship! (we'll just have to use onboard credits for anything we do- good thing we really aren't drinkers. Do you know I still have some of those little plastic bottle mixed drinks things we bought for the last cruise... still in my fridge.. and that cruise was May/June 2006! LOL so that should tell ya something huh? i didn't drink them on the cruise and still have them. I should probably toss those huh. LOL) Anywho.. pictures (limited amount) and excursions using onboard credit is gonna be it for us!

I did try to find out if we could do the REAS package again. We really liked it last time and didn't even use the spa part of the pkg last time... but they won't let you do the REAS on the repo cruises! Can you believe that? I mean they could atleast do it and just say the spa part is only 7 days- either first week/2nd week or 7 days from first day you go or something like that. Other than that spa part the rest shouldn't matter how long the cruise is- should it? I don't think so. this stinks. LOL I wanted to do that pkg again..... and also get a jump on booking excursions. But they say no... guess I'll have to mess with it like everyone else- fighting to get excursions and stuff booked. LOL We really do have to do most (if not all) thru disney so we can use onboard credits!

So anyway- hope everyone has a great day today!
