Does anyone have any idea how many fish extender gifts are needed per person? If everyone participates, it could be huge - aren't we well over 150 DIS families? Are we all exchanging with everyone or are we breaking up the list or something? I guess I'm getting concerned about the cost - even a cheap 50 cent gift (and I would prefer to do something nicer than that!) would add up to at least $75!:scared1:

Pamela

Pamela - its up to the person - but I would suggest you stick to one per cabin if you want. It can get expensive and huge. On the 11-nighter I gave out 1 item per person. It wasa bottle holder that you strap onto your belt buckle and I had over 325 to give. I was going to take them in the suitcase when they got too big. So many people did small stuff, like personalized candy wrapper with Wonder on it, etc, some very smart person made a grab bag with things like safety pins, a pencil, some tape, a paper clip - it was actually a very useful gift. Oh yeah, had some bandaids in it too. Wait - am I getting my cruises mixed up? I may be but that is another option - fill it with stuff from home that everyone one has hanging around.

I am sewing challenged but you can make one!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Don't laugh to hard but by fish extender served the purpose.:rolleyes1 I will use it again this year!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

It is a lot of fun:banana: and you are almost disappointed if their is nothing in your fishey!!:sad2:

You are officially on!!!!!!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

I am so excited to be officially involved now, especially with a drinking committee, I mean fish committee. Yee haa!

Also, I did not laugh at yours, I actually thought to myself that I could possibly try that. Not likely, but possible. How did you do it without sewing. I am sure I have a sewing maching somewhere in my house...

I am capable of using a hot glue gun and/or stapler. I am fantastic with a Calculator though! Good think I am in the banking industry...

Plus, did I mention that DD-14 got nominated to attend some kind of National Leadership Conference in Washington DC - she's going to be there from June 14-23 and she wants me to take her and wait for her -

Laura,

Those things are a scam.......... My dd has been invited to several things over the years. Yeah looks goods.... spead thousands of dollars to send your kids somewhere... (Europe, Ireland, DC, etc....)

If i had a dollar for every ST who was sent an invite....:rolleyes1

Well the TOAL would have been PIF a long long time ago.... and i'd be upgrading to a CAT 1.

Don't worry- I did too at first. :)

Not "in the know" but  hope everything is OK.

Coral

Thanks Coral - didn't mean to be cryptic but just wanted to explain any future absence - I always pop in - sometimes for 5 minutes sometimes only ketchup but I do look over. So when I get more news - will explain later.

Happy Birthday Jakob!!!

I agree! The companies ask teachers to recommend students. And the guidance counselor said that they get names from the PSAT, too. We were asked not to send in names from our school.

And prayers to you, Laura, for whatever is going on, that things turn out well.

Thought about that and knew the possibility was there but ended up talking to a girl that went last year she's still at the school. She liked it and said it fueled her ambition to go to college so DD now wants to go. That is why I am considering flying her there. Essentially not sure I want to entrust my baby to the airlines - so I may as well make the best out of it. DD says it would look good on her college transcript especially since they are supposed to notify the local House of Rep and Senator.

Besides, the older two got to go to VA, Wash DC and Williamsburg when they were in the 8th grade - dd says this is her way of visiting those places. The problem was that the older two went with the American Heritage club from their school. DD is going on her own. I would seriously go over the edge if I sent her and something happened to her. This way - I could keep an eye on her on the flight there and back the rest is in God's hand.

I'm just waiting for the day when I try to access DIS and I get the big red and blue Blocked Site Warning from my employer. That will be a very sad day. :guilty:

I've actually already received the big red and blue Blocked Site Warning for the Piratezone website :headache:

Good luck, Roger.

CAN NOTHING BACK!

So, I guess the meds kicked in, huh Roger?
:lmao:

So how is everything, Roger??????????? And how long do you get to take the happy drugs AFTER the procedure???;)

Thank you all for the well wishes. Everything went well. Much better than I expected. I am currently coming down off the Valium/Vicodin and waiting for the Lidocaine to wear off. The microwaving did not really hurt it was the 20-30 injections to numb the area. I have to take it easy for the next couple of weeks (no biking) :sad1: but I am up walking around right now. I have another couple of hours before I get to take my next meds if I need them. I will post before and after pictures after everything is healed.

My DS16 has got sooooo many of these offers in the past few months. It was right after he took some big test (PLAN test?).

We were excited to get them, but noting the cost etc, it seemed like a nice idea to get kids involved, but most likely, just a regular old summer camp that anyone who wanted to could go to. But that doesn't mean that they are bad, just kind of tricky in the way they get people to sign up, right? :confused3

Will the map overlay Castaway Cay?

Speedy recovery with little drug induced postings!

Sort of ironic that the Pope may prevent DH from attending first communion.
A pain to switch gears this close to a party, but have you thought about Plan B? Our kids aren't going through the service with their class. We are going to DH's home parish in Cleveland (FIL is a deacon and they were an original family in this parish) during a different week. The kids don't have receive first communion with their class, they can really do it any time.

No plan B ...too much hassle. It will be disappointing, but it wont be the first and it wont be the last time that the job inteferes with life.
Thats funny that yout FIL is a Deacon. My dad is one. He was ordained a few years ago....he wanted to particiapte in Devins Communion last year, but my son wanted no part of it. Ryan wanted him to this year, but alas he just wasnt feeling up to it. He started dyalasis (sp) several months ago and just hasnt been feeling up tp much of anything lately. He did get to baptize my neices last year which was very nice.

Hmm there's a memory... It's the Pope's fault that dad couldn't be at my 1st communion...

LOL it is pretty funny!
