Happy Birthday Lauryn!!!

Chrissie ... I had to say I liked your replies to the "7" questions. The 3 wishes are direct and to the point. And so you were the President of your schools' honor society. I was chief party animal as president of our schools' Asian Student Union. we used to throw these huge money raising parties with 500+ kids.

That is one of my downfalls-I am usually to the point!
And don't get me wrong...this smarty pants can have LOTS of fun too!:woohoo:

Just went through my DL backpack and found 5 maps. The thing is that my girls picked them up and they are in Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, German and French. So anyone interested in knowing where the toilettens are let me know. :lmao:

That is the first thing I look for on all my maps! (A bladder the size of a pea!):lmao:

Anyone have maps for Universal Studios Hollywood? We are thinking about heading up there...is it worth it?

I am aiming to have a topper like that on my (oops OUR) wedding cake! Brendan actually thought it was a great idea! (he also wants a dragon with a bride in its mouth and the groom running away!:lovestruc what love eh??:rotfl2:

Chrissie

thanks crash!
i'll be back later today to show dd all the bday wishes for her...thanks for posting them everyone! the kids get a real kick out of it!

Tom, I am glad that worked out for you. I used one of mine for my Mom's trip to Boston. I just ended up purchasing my ticket--I am only going up for the weekend May 16th-19th to celebrate my Nana's 90th Bday. I ended up with 199.50 for the flight--now it is over 400. Mom is staying for a couple weeks so she was more free with her dates. I would still like to use the other to go to Vegas, but I really don't have the time to take another trip. Boston May, Hilton Head June and then the TOAL in August and I still need to work.;) Also the rental damage. loss of rent for at least 3 months and adding a bedroom and bath to it weren't really expected.:rolleyes1

Curious,

... Your ticket for your Mom worked out SAVING you anything? I hope your Mom lives somewhere other than near you IF you were using the Docker deal for her. Well... wait a minute... even IF you paid $125 in mens wear + the processing fee of maybe $90 (my fee was $90) .... you'd be paying $215 for a flight to Boston for your Mom that was worth $199 at the time of purchase - and now costs $400 (which is semi-relevant since you're NOT buying airfare when more expensive) .... so - you'd be getting $199 in air fare + $125 in mens' wear for $215. IE, that still works because it's comparable to getting a $199 fare at regular price + $125 in mens' wear for about $15!

Also on the rental - are you actually ADDING an ADDITION to your rental? I must be mistaken and you're rennovating a room and bath... right?

And on Vegas... may I suggest having "fun" is the spice of life... no? So why not just slip away for a couple of nights to Vegas? That might be do-able since it's short. Once Alicia and I slipped away for a weekend in Hong Kong to do some shopping. That was sort of crazy but it was a last minute bargain fare from United and to this day it remains the one occassion where on the way home Alicia leaned back in her seat and asked if we could do this again (with pleasant smile and dreamy eyes). Of course, a little while after that we had Julianna and travel on the spur of the moment became a biut more complicated... AND WE HAVE NOT DONE ANY LAST MINUTE, HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD WEEKEND ESCAPES.... gee I wonder why? So ... may I humbly submit that you should slip away for a fun filled escape with that Docker deal... gamble away your savings from the Docker deal... and if you end up making a "deposit" to the "bank of nevada" then it's a "push". And if not - then you'll be getting a "free" trip in cost - or maybe even show a profit for the trouble, eh?

Not that I'm complaining. AS,.... "A"... I've saved a LOT of money NOT doing those sort of flings.... (it was a shopping trip to HK).... and "B" ... I've had so many more PRICELESS experiences with Julianna since then. As in all those sleepess nites with a feverish daughter ... and the 1st time we cruised Disney with Julianna and her endless hapiness that trip!

I gotta run now ... I'm the volunteer computer lab assisstant in about 8 minutes at Juliannas' school. Plus I have her lunch with me that needs delivering to her.

TTFN!

It's been forever since I have been to either, s oI can't really recall details, but USH is much better than USO in my opinion.

:rotfl: Nice.

My friend who is getting married next year is also a Disney nut. He fiance is really into music & plays in a bar band most weekends. They are seriously considering a Cinderella and Elvis bride and groom cake topper.

I haven't done a spur of the moment trip HALFWAY AROUND THE BLOCK since I had kids.

 does anyone want some kids?? it has been such a bad day!! thank goodness dh is on his way home, cuz i think i'm gonna lock myself in my room and scream/cry!!
the baby i watch has done nothing but scream all this week. he's not sick...it's just his lovely nature. i've dealt with it for over a year now, but it's getting worse! and today i'm grumpy anyways!
and today is my dd's bday. she has dance at 3:00, so i asked my friend to pick her up at school, and friend calls me to tell me that dd is not out of school yet. she asks the teacher where she is, and teacher informs her that dd has been in school crying hysterically all day today about going to dance. she has never had an issue with going...she's danced since she was only 2....but for the last few weeks, if i can't go with her and sit there, she doesnt want to go. she doesn't usually dance at 3...but they have a comp this weekend, and she is going in for extra practice. i know she may be a bit stressed over the comp, but she really needs to get over this! my friend brought her home, and she acted like a baby....clinging to the furniture and not going out the door! we had many discussions before, and she's done comps before, so i'm not sure what the deal is...it just irritates me!
then, while i'm trying to get her all ready to go out the door for dance, i hear yelling amongst the boys that i watch. turns out that they are all out playing basketball, and my oldest ds decides to have a meltdown too....and whipped the ball at one of his friends. what in the world? i'm about ready to have a major meltdown!!!! his attitude comes from not wanting to go to baseball practice....something that HE wanted to sign up for. im so irritated...sorry for venting.

Coral did you post this on the planing board? Thanks for finding this. Yo-Ho Jolly pirate: s!
Added.

Shannon....vent when you need to. You have a VERY demanding job!

Regarding Lauryn's meltdown.....I had a similar situation with Kylie at her first ice skating competition. She was used to being on stage at her dance recitals, but she was always with a group. This was the first time she was going to be performing solo. She was calm, cool and collected through all of the practices and rehearsals....so I was shocked when competition day came, we get to the rink and minutes before she was going to perform, she had a meltdown. She started crying and saying she didn't want to do it anymore. I felt like such a bad mom because I reminded her of all of the expense involved and that she needed to face her fear and go out on the ice. Her coach and I kept telling her we would be right there at the entrance out on the ice. Part of me wanted to scoop my little baby up and take her home. But I knew she wouldn't grow from the experience if I did that. I was also worried I was being too harsh with her, maybe expecting too much. As it turned out, she mustered up the courage to go out, got through her routine, and didn't crack even a slight smile the whole time until it was over. Then she instantly started grinning from ear to ear! She came off of the ice and told me how proud she was of herself that she did it. She ended up placing third in that competition, but the greater reward was the confidence she gained that day. Since then she has even sung a solo in the school talent show, something I would find to be far more frightening!

I hope it all works out for Lauryn. Please tell her Kylie sends her an extra special birthday wish!
