I had the good fortune to visit Yosemite in mid February, just in time for a fresh snowfall on the valley floor. Aside from great sledding (back near the stables), it was simply indescribable. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places in the world any time of year. But during a snowfall... what a treat.

I would love to visit there one day.

One nice thing about this trip is that it's a short flight for me - and direct, so little chance of luggage getting lost. Last summer I did the med cruise and our luggage didn't catch up to us until Naples. At least it did turn up, and we had packed some essentials in our carry-on. If you're coming from far away and have any plane changes, definitely take a large carry-on!

Naples, oh my! :scared1:

What is wrong with people? Some people have no respect.

We rent out our old place to tenants and they stopped paying rent after just a few weeks and going through mediation took weeks. We had to get a court order to evict and they left it in a terrible mess.

Never again will we be landlords. Not until the law changes to protect the landlord better.

That is true, the laws do favor the tennants and eviction can take awhile. It is aggravating when you get the call that something needs to be fixed and yet they haven't paid the rent, no heat=no rent seems fair to me. But it doesn't work that way. Sorry you had a bad experience Paula.

One would think a week would be enough, but I've been waiting for my luggage from British Airways for 12 days now.

I hope our bags had a good tour of Europe without us...

Hey, how was your trip? I am hoping your luggage was lost on the way home, not while you were there.

I guess I would be concerned too if there were a lot of rentals going on in my subdivision. Many of them just don't have the sense of ownership that comes from your own home. The ones that come from an apartment also don't realize that now they need to start doing the yardwork and I guess they get a bit overwhelmed. But like I said before we have been lucky, hopefully my next tennant will be better.

We get to go to Hilton Head in June--so that will be our time to relax. 10 days at DVC there. I am already looking forward to it.

This is why we only advertised our rental through military channels and priced it at exactly Major/Lt. Commander housing allowance. We wanted a family who would see the house as their home for three years, like we do. And if they didn't, we also know how to make life professionally uncomfortable for them.

Hmmm, we're renting here. Maybe that's why none of our neighbors talk to us...

Hey, how was your trip? I am hoping your luggage was lost on the way home, not while you were there.

The trip was pretty good, transportation issues not withstanding. No, our bags were lost in the mountain of luggage at Terminal 5 Heathrow on our way to Paris so we spent the week without any luggage.

Now back home harassing BA to reimburse us for the $3000USD (considering the awful exchange rate) in purchases we had to make in order to make it through the week. It definitely added a lot of stress and forced us to have to take time out from our touring plan to visit shopping malls instead of monuments. Thank goodness we knew about Auchan in Paris and Marks & Spencer in the UK and were able to find clothes cheaper than what we were finding at Disneyland Paris.

Paris and London were a lot of fun and we packed a lot into a few days (Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Boat Tour on the Seine, the Louvre, Napolean's Tomb, the Conciergie, Notre Dame, Place de la Concorde, Chateau de Vincennes, Eurostar to London, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, St. James Park, the Royal Mews and the Queen's Collection at Buckingham Palace, stood on the (not) Prime Meridian in Greenwich, the Museum of London, and Windsor Castle).

Spent a couple of days at Disneyland Paris and, although it might be heresy on these boards, the adults in the party wished we'd cut out one of those days; there just wasn't enough 'unique' about it to make it worth the time vs. the other things we wanted to see in Paris, but it was primarily for SWMBOJr to placate her when we'd be spending the rest of the time wandering through ancient buildings and museums. (Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with DLRP, just would have preferred to see more of France instead of being at Disney, but that's the tradeoff of traveling with kindergarteners).

BA claims to have found two of our three bags but no idea when they will return them. Unfortunately, all of our winter jackets were packed in there so we hope it doesn't turn too cold in Chicago before we get them back. We left in snow in Chicago and returned in snow in London, but otherwise the weather wasn't too bad, which was lucky since we had no winter clothes.

Still sorting photos. Will post on my webpage whenever I get through.

Oh, and by the way, M, I got the Disney Cruise planner in the mail when I was gone even though I have cancelled the cruise. The Mouse must really not like you. (If you really want it, let me know and I'll slip it in a envelope to you).

I told my AAA TA about all the problems folks were having trying to book excursions, Palo, etc. on Disney's website and this is what she sent me:

Disney’s website is not a very good site…..or no, it may be good it is just not big enough for the volume they do……if you have a problem, let me know and I will try to find a phone number to use to call things in…….we will find a way to get you want you want!!

I'm not sure what she will be able to do, but if I spend all night with the swimming fishes I may call her on the 19th.:lmao: This may be an option for others.

Suffering my way through the workday....

(we have planning commission tomorrow so i have to prepare; this also means i will be on tv and the internet tomorrow AM. Oh yay!!! I'm going to look like  Probably will sound that way too.)

So we get to watch you on the internet? What channel?

Apparently DCL (and their awesome computer system) has sent these out to most of the people who have cancelled the cruise. Now, this would go a long way to explaining why they haven't assigned rooms yet, why they seem to be in a quandry on planning, etc. Since they still think there is about 25,000 people booked on the boat.....:confused3

Lost%20Luggage.gif

I hate to say this ....

... but after 12 days LOST ... is there still much hope of getting your bags? I know if the airline lost our bags my spouse would just about go ballistic. However, have you determined what your settlement terms are from BA yet? Well... I googled this web page (5 years out of date) on it....

http://www.triprights.com/fix/2003/ba.htm

And from the BA online "lost baggage" claim page they post the following:

BA said:
WE HAVE A LIMITED LIABILITY RELATING TO CLAIMS FOR CHECKED BAGGAGE. Our liability is based on the Montreal Convention. The applicable limits of liability in the case of destruction, loss of, or damage or delay to baggage on a flight operated by British Airways or a European Union British Airways franchise carrier is 1,000 Special Drawing Rights (approximately GBP 820 or EUR 1,230, or USD 1,375). In line with other airlines, we cannot accept claims for damage or loss to items in checked baggage which are fragile, perishable or of special value.

So it seems your maximum total (?) claim is $1375.

edited in... it seems I missed this reply you posted. And I guess it's great that they found 2 of your bags (with contents I assume). So... like, .... (dramatic pause) ...... when are they gonna SEND the bags they got ahold of to you?

Just got this from my TA:

Entertainment Options for the Panama Canal Cruises

Some of the entertainment options that will be offered during the 15-night Panama Canal sailings include:

· Welcome Aboard Variety Show (50 minutes)
· The Golden Mickeys (50 minutes)
· When Mickey Dreams (50 minutes)
· Disney’s The Art of the Story (50 minutes)
· Twice Charmed – An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story (50 minutes)
· Disney Dreams. . . An Enchanted Classic (55 minutes)
· Farewell Variety Show (50 minutes)
· Six specialty shows (50 minutes each) that are uniquely designed for Guests cruising on this special itinerary

· Deck Parties - three high-energy evening deck parties will take place onboard the ship at Aruba, Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas. Two afternoon deck parties will also be offered during these sailings.

Whilst it doesn't answer all our questions, it is a start & at least helps a bit with Palo planning as we have a 1:3 chance of getting Pirate night right!

The Montreal Convention limits apply per ticketed passenger, and there were five of us. Even by strictest interpretation, since BA only allows 2 bags per passenger, one of our bags would be under a second passenger and nothing in the MC limits a claim based on family size (e.g. my wife is a separate passenger like any other person who lost a bag).

I've already had contact with an attorney in Seattle who has a class-action against BA for lost luggage and is discussing extending this to include the Terminal 5 disaster. I don't desire to sue, but am not above using it as leverage against the airline.

The Special Drawing Rights are also recalculated daily by the IMF so the limits BA states on their site do not currently apply due to the low value of the dollar.

Great info Celestine. Although I'm hoping that the Pirate night is the night after Aruba, and not the night that we are actually there. We don't leave Aruba until 11:30, so i'd like to spend a good amount of time there and hopefully catch an amazing sunset while on the island.

Thanks J.R., but I think I can tough it out.
I never get mail from Mickey.

So I would guess that Pirate Night is Aruba, unless they do something stupid like have Pirates in the Caribbean night NOT in the Caribbean. Makes sense that we will have something Acapulco night since we aren't really going to be there.

This could be a mistake but........

That will take you to our county website... Then you can either view from Live TV link towards the top of the page or click on the button next to 4/9/08 Planning Commission...

I will be first and fourth on the agenda... (And remember to ignore the cool sexy raspy voice. I don't always sound that way. Only when i'm sick.)

Cade thanks you all for his birthday wishes!!! He loved seeing them all yesterday & he really really liked the cool pirate cakes! Too bad I can't bake like that. I made him a simple confetti bundt cake with choc frosting & sprinkles. Ah well it's what he asked for so he was happy! He requested Chinese food at our local rest. for dinner. He was craving Peking Raviolis & tea! :confused3 Thanks again guys! :grouphug:

Given the order of the ports, I wonder if this is for the WB more than us? This is the WB itinerary:

IMPORTANT DATES
May 10th We Sail Away!
May 11th Castaway Cay 9am-5pm
May 12th Sea Day Formal Night
May 13th Sea Day
May 14th Aruba 7:30am-9:30pm Tropical Night
May 15th Sea Day
May 16th Panama Canal Day!
May 17th Sea Day Semi Formal Night
May 18th Sea Day
May 19th Acapulco 12noon-9:30pm Mexican Deck Party
May 20th Sea Day
May 21st Puerto Vallarta 7:30am-4:45pm
May 22nd Cabo San Lucas 8am-7:30pm Pirate Night
May 23rd Sea Day Formal Ballroom under the Stars Night
May 24th Sea Day
May 25th Port of L.A. they drag us off the ship

We have a late night at Aruba (11:30 on board), so I wouldn't think that would be a deck party night. The WB leaves at 9:30, prime time for deck party.....
