Anyone else notice that they are now limiting us to 2 suitcases and one carry on for the Magic. Last time I thought you could bring as much as you want as long as you could live with empty suitcases in your room. Of course I only get one carry on so the girls can have extra space.

I am absolutely amazed at the skill of the plastic surgeon I went to.
I looked like a train wreck last week after the surgery. Now, it is just amazing! He took a pretty substantial hole in my nose and in a week and a half it looks almost normal. He hid all the stitches in the curve of my nose and you cannot see any marks. It still just a bit red. Wow! I think I am going to start saving for some more work that guy can do on me.

Coral, so glad that everything is turning out great. Don't get too much extra work done until we see what you look like now. Otherwise we won't know how much work you had done.

There is no way for everyone to be happy.

Links to the first page for important information was an OK idea for a while, but there is a lot of information and no way to follow the comments/feedback from other people, and the whole thing is impossible now that we have about 20 thread-ettes floating around the Dis. Also, with links on the first page it would be the sole responsibility of ONE person (the OP of each thread) to keep it updated. That is a lot of work for one person. This solution is a little ‘work’ for a lot of people. Anyone can move important info to the other board so we don’t have to rely on one person (or saddle them with extra work). This also allows people to quickly look up information without wading through 1,000 fluff posts.

That other board is for important info only, so it doesn’t move very fast. I really only look at it if I’m looking for information on a port or an activity, maybe 1-2x a month.

We discussed the idea for a while and it seemed like a reasonable solution to everyone who was around at the time. In a group this size, I bet there is at least one thing that each of us would change if we were in charge, but that’s part of the deal with joining a group. I’m sorry you don’t like it, but many people do and it isn’t going away.

Anyway, I see people mentioning they love the info elsewhere and saying "the pirate zone website". I already knew we had that website and was registered there. I'm talking about needing to register and read a THIRD board (dis, pirate zone info website, and now pirate zone discussion board). But am I reading you right that the deal is that this additional board was needed so that other people could add info instead of it all being on one person's shoulders?

well anyway I never said it would go away. I have a right to voice my displeasure in it being mandatory to go and register and read YET ANOTHER board to even particpate or get any info about things the group is doing that we might want to also. I love the pirate zone website- I just didn't understand why now the info couldn't be here too or on the FIRST pirates website and not force people to join yet another website or else be left out! that's all.
I thought the first pirates website was great for info without having to go thru the fluff of this thread- I just didn't understand (and not sure I do yet..) why we had to have yet ANOTHER board that was mandatory to go there and register to get any info or participate in group things. Is the original pirate zone website obsolete and not being used anymore? Is this discussion board now taking it's place?

Are we talking about the same thing? Because from your, and other's, comments it appears you think I'm upset about the pirates website- and I'm not. I'm somewhat annoyed that now the info can't be here or on the first pirates website but on yet another discussion board that it's mandatory to register and read there in order to get any info. I loved the first one.. just didn't (don't) understand why we need TWO other boards in addition to the thread here on dis. If it's replacing the first one well then... no one told me that. LOL

If it's replacing the first one- cool. Especially if I'm reading you right that the reason for the new one to replace the old one was so that info could be posted without relying on just one person to put the info there. that makes sense.
My voicing displeasure at signing up for another board and asking questions and not understanding/etc. should not be taking as any illusions that the board would "go away" simply because I didn't like it. I mean let's get real here. I know very well how little my vote counts- I'm a little fish in the ocean of big shark DIS'ers going on this cruise.. (think non-black embarkation shirt.. that didn't go over well either LOL)

Okay tomorrow I deal with my school principal about the TOAL. Our school starts back on Sept 2 so I will make our first day of school BUT teacher work week is the week prior and obviously I will not be there. Have a mtg at 1pm to discuss it with her - she is very old school, very abrupt and to the point so it should take all of 5 minutes in and out - either its fine or its not and I need to start looking for a new school to work at

The only thing i may have going for me is I am trying to work summer school this year. Basically its a 4 week program that will give me some extra cash, its much easier than the normal school year - way less paperwork. Its 4 days a week 7:30 - 12:30. Schools are always desperate for summer school teachers so it may be my saving grace.

Say a prayer for me tonight y'all.

AND on another note.. what in the world is everyone planning to do in aculpulco now that we're barely gonna be there? *sigh*
That was gonna be our favorite port and now we're not there long enough to do anything even if we did get up at the crack of dawn and tried to be first off the ship.

DH wanted to scuba dive there but I wanted to do some FAMILY stuff this time. I'm not real keen on just going around by myself out of the states.. and it doesn't appear we have enough time to do both things that short day. And I'm not keen on doing a lot of stuff this trip like last time- with DH off scuba diving and ME doing everything with the kids. So DH may have to just forget about scuba diving there on that short day. is all I'm saying. LOL

So what are y'all planning on doing that short time in acupulco?

Just on the off-chance someone did not know this, you cannot renew a childs passport. You have to start from scratch and get the birth certificates, go to post office, apply, etc.

DH and I spent the morning at the Passport office. We all have Passports but they expire at the end of April. DH and I got to do a simplified form but we had to start all over again for the kids. Had to have a guarantor and everything. Good news was that we didn't need the long birth certificate. I took the chance of going with just the small certificate that we had used the last time. After we got through everything I was asking the fellow about it and he said we didn't need it as we were married before we had the kids.
Should see the Passports sometime the week of the 21st.

As a side note - to the people who are questioning having to get the Passports. We went and got them in 2003 before we took a surprise trip (at least to the kids) to DL. I didn't want any problems with taking the kids on the plane after 9/11 when they couldn't make up their minds what you needed to cross the border. At that point in time - we didn't have to have them, but it was recommended that you should get them. So, when they became mandatory, we already had them and didn't need to stand in hours long lineup to get them and wait weeks for them to be issued. I heard and still hear of people having to cancel their vacation plans due to not having a passport. We can't board a plane without one now - regardless of whether you are going within the Province or out of the country. So, just go ahead and get them and be glad when you want to go away that you don't have to go join the hoard that trying to get them because now they are mandatory.

I'm heading to NC this weekend for Girls Weekend with my BFFs. On the agenda - drinking and bridesmaid dress shopping. We even found a shop close to the winery. With any luck I will have some photos of me modeling some truly hideous frocks. We want to try on some real options as well as some truly bad selections, just for fun!

Ya it was Laurie's (MrsScooby) DH Darren that we are going to kid about the tiaras.

Mrs. Scoobie...I had the right screen name in my head, slightly off on the real name.

I am going to start a San Pedro restaurant thread under pre cruise but here is the Ports O'Call Restaurant Nice place, right on the water, a little pricey but great salad bar.

I was looking thru a catalog and saw the roll up space bags for packing. Has anyone used these ? I was trying to see if they were TSA approved.I haven't flown since all the security measures were implemented. So how does this effect all the cases of water we all planned to take on board etc. Sorry if I am rambling. It's way early for me.

I've used the cheapo Target version (post 9-11). They do squish the stuff down so you can get more in a suitcase. The problem is that it doesn't magically make the stuff any lighter now that airlines are so persnickety about the 50 lb. rule.

ya, me and M are up at 0 dark 30.
I used to get up at 4:30 to exercise, but now I go to the gym after work. I get up now at 5ish. I little while ago I logged on to the DIS while I was caffeinating. It's an easier way for me to keep up.

This is exactly why the Pirate Zone discussion board is so great. If you look under Acapulco, you can see that there has been a little discussion about seeing the cliff divers. As time gets closer, I'm sure some other ideas on how to spend the day will emerge. Someone who doesn't get to read every post on this board can refer to the Pirate Zone discussion board at any time and easily find what plans for Acapulco are in the works. I know you are not happy about having to register again, but I think you have already done it, so why not give the other board a try?
