Nope i think our application beat the land speed record. Applied for them on a Saturday.... (the PO overnighted them to Philly processing office on Monday AM. We had them back in our mail the next Saturday. So just barely 5 business days for us.) And i didn't pay for expedited either....

I'm not kidding either....

Right now her cell phone is still shut off... and she's been screaming at us all night for the past three nights....

My DH's wallet and my phone disappeared this morning. At least my phone materialized at the HS though but i needed to pick it up so was late for work..

And on top of this she's refusing to take her meds...(ADD/ODD)

Anyone here a social worker or know how foster homes work....?

Who am i kidding? No one would take her..they'd beg me to take her back...

My only solution at this point is to change the locks on our doors and she'll just have to wait till we get home from work to be escorted inside...

I've been advised that the changing the locks, removing bedroom doors, locking up all their stuff so that can't get to it strategies do work. I haven't had to get that drastic yet, but I'm sure in a few years I will.

Through our HMO we have a group home that the kids can go to. They actually don't refer to it as a group home, I forget what they call it. But basically its a cooling off place. They still get school work but they also get group and one on one therapy. The kids have to check in voluntarily and usually only stay 1 week. Maybe there's something similar, try checking with the therapist/counselor.

Oh you must be so frustrated. I wish I had a magical solution for you. Our friends in Alaska were going through some similar things with their DD about a year ago. She hit rock bottom, came back, and has been funtioning like a normal member of the family for about 6 months now, so I know it is possible.

OK, today is a good day.......

I don't know how I did it, but I just got my cabin number changed by calling and asking. I was left on hold for about 5 minutes (brings back memories) and they came back with a perfect location - 8586, right outside the AFT lifts. Now I can stumble up to make my morning coffee without scaring TOO many people

............on the cabin change, not the scaring people....


Seriously with so many people still GTY I'm surprised they were able to swtich you.

Big Announcement Everyone!!!! I got a new job! They fired my boss (great guy) & have been beating on me... I went looking & stumbled upon this job (very unexpected). Better hours, no looking over my shoulder, little more money.... & they're OK with my TOAL. I should be happy but have mixed feelings... I feel like I'm letting down my kids & parents (I've been working at a boys & girls club).... but I just can't face working for the people who have taken over. Very bitter/sweet decision. Gonna be lots of tears when I tell the kids (if they let me). Going to give notice on Monday... we'll see if they walk me out. I'm going to really miss the kids...

I wonder if someone in GTY called with a request for a certain cabin would they get it? And then everyone can call and request cabins.....

You're in 6507 -- we're very close to you -- we're in connecting cabins 6524 and 6526. Like you, I'm an early riser and enjoy being out on the Top Deck for sunrise. However, if you see me in the morning, don't try to get me to talk until I've made it up for my morning coffee. My family loves buying me Grumpy coffee mugs as they say it fits my personality until I've had that first cup.

I have quite the hike to the coffee from deck 2 forward. Apologies to anyone who thinks I am ignoring them on the way to the coffee pot.

I thought tday was going to be just an average day (ok with the kids trying to pull April Fool's jokes on me ).But it wasn't!

So today one of my kids at my afterschool program-child happensto be on the autism spectrum-cleaned up an area with out being asked (huge deal for this guy!)So,because I love positive reinforcement,I made a big deal when mom came to pick him up. Put my arm around his shoulder and thanked him and said "you did such a great job! Thanks for helping out!".He then gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek! (Big deal because he is not a touchy feely kid. I also knew it was huge because mom had to pick her jaw up off the ground!)

So with an event like that makes me feel as if I made a difference in at least one little guy's life!

Just wanted to share.

Good job Chrissie! Sounds like you were absolutely meant to be a teacher. I'm sure you will make a difference in many children's lives, sometimes when you don't even think you are.

so it was unusual to get it that fast huh? Maybe not a lot of Texans are travelling and not as many getting passports? But so hard to believe that considering HOW MANY were in line to get passports on that Friday at our postoffice in our small rural town. LOL

We got ours last year, but it took about 8 weeks.

IDK... trying might just be wasting extra money on top of ordering the shirts? I really don't know how to do this, where to get the stuff to do it, etc. there isn't a big chance of them turning out well.

We're only getting the black. We'll probably wear them pirate night too.

I was thinking about doing this (we're not fond of the idea of wearing black in August anyway remember.... remember the whole hot pink discussion? LOL) but weren't sure if we'd want to be so different. But hey if you're doing it too.. plus we'd get two days wear out of the shirts since everyone is wearing them on panama canal day right?

I doubt we'll be wearing our black since we'll most likely be spending a lot of time on our balcony that day & I don't think I could take the heat.

our rooms are 6130 and 6131- are those good rooms? I need to go look to see exactly where those are and how close they are! assuming they are very close one number after the other but they are different categories so let's see....

We are across from you on the starboard side in 6616. I love that location because you can run right up the stairs to Topsiders.

cool- not worried about elevator noise... being close to it is a plus though. Being close to topsiders might be a plus too. It has to be closer to the drink station than we were on the last cruise too. LOL they are directly across from one another... so that's cool. I know Crash was just teasing you, but you to assure you, we're actually closer to the elevators & we never hear elevator noise in that room. This will be our third time in 6616.

No, my new job is actually related to my expertise (desktop publishing/printing), so it's back to what a really knew. Boys & girls club I kinda fell into because I needed a job around my DS' schedule & they needed someone with computer experience. I then worked into more all around B&G programming & dealing with kids/parents & all that involves. It was a job I never planned on doing (150 kids all needing something What was I thinking??) & ended up really loving the kids & all that goes with them.

Well the registrars office was very nice & I just had to fill out an extra form, but all set now...I hope!

Hi Penny! Congrats on the new job. I know how you feel. I had to shut my daycare down this year and even though I do see them I miss "taking care" of them every day . Your kids and their parents will always remember what a great caregiver you were to them.

Honestly, I was shocked. I really called with the intention of begging that I be moved if I paid in full by the end of the week.

But, it does tell me that there are empty cabins out there just waiting to be assigned. They did still have all my orginal requests noted from the day I booked because she said, "I can't give you 8084 (my original request), but the cabin across the hall is free". Since my 2nd request was anything AFT, I am quite happy now.

I don't know why they don't just let people do that. You would think they would want to make people happy.

Congrats on your new job. DD was in latchkey at the Y and they had a change in management. Drove the youth dir out and most of the parents! You gotta do what's best for you. Best wishes!
