Was pleasantly surprised yesterday....

My son had gotten notice that he had received second place in a "create and earth day bumper sticker contest" and we should stop by the Earth Day Festival at the County Park.

We just assumed it was second place in his class or school, turns out it was second place in his age group in whole county! He was called up on stage and given a gift cert to Barnes and Noble.

We were the every embarrassing proud parents!
Congratulations to your son!

My brother found DS. He's going to take him to his house for the night and try to figure out what's bothering him.

If it weren't for the GPS locator service on the phone, we would not have any idea where he was. His cell service just started offering it last week, thank goodness.

So glad to hear he was located! Prayers that things will be better today!

I'll look on Piratezone, also....But, I told 17dd that I would ask here. She has posted on the kids dis thread for this cruise and so far the oldest *kid* is 14. She was looking to connect with some 16/17 before the cruise.

This would be so much easier for her if Alex was still going! LOL! Now she is panicked about not knowing anyone ahead of time. On our 10nt she spent the entire summer before the cruise *talking* to other teenagers that were on the same cruise. Then the first day onboard they had their own *meet & greet*.

She is extremely quiet -- but, get her on anything Disney and she comes ALIVE! LOL!

Great picture Tom. I am looking to buy a digital SLR soon so I can start practicing too!
The new Canon Xsi looks nice...

That was the Canon 30D. Getting better as time goes on. I like the Canons, but some of the Nikons are getting cheaper...

Switching gears, quick Dal question for you... My Dal Miranda is 12 and has pain in front paw/leg to the point she ends up walking on 3 legs sometimes (arthritis??). Any home remedies you know of or best with the vet meds and aspirin?

For the Jon Stewart fans - there is an Olympus, not Olympics (just a sporting event) advertised at Circuit City for $299 - the submersible to 10 foot version

But the SW 770 good to 33ft (actually 61ft tested by divers) is still going for $249 at Amazon. I think it is almost time to pick this up. ;)

Monica: Prayers and PD for your family.:grouphug: :grouphug: :wizard: :wizard: My DS just did the same thing last week. Although he didn't "runaway" and he is 17 he just didn't come home for 2 days. I can honestly say I know the emotional roller coaster your on. My DS wen't somewhere he shouldn't have been. Hang in there. It will get worse before it gets better. Your brother sounds like a great support.........

Tina, I am sure you were worried over your son too. I am glad he came home.:goodvibes

Congrats to your DS!!! That is great:cool1:

Monica, I can't imagine how relieved you were. I hope Trevoy opens up to your brother and to you. It has to be tough on him keeping things so bottled up.

Real question coming...

If you were to ask for Disney dollars or something along the line from family/friends etc for the trip. What would you request?

We have 2 B-days coming up before the trip and our 15th Anniversary is a few weeks before the trip. And I don't need anything, so on board credits or Disney dollar or something would be great. But I am not sure how to request it...

You could always email them (or print a few out) the pdf form from DCL http://adisneycruise.disney.go.com/...ia/myCruise/amenitiesGifts/GiftsOrderForm.pdf and just tell them you would love obc's and how fun it will be to have the little cards in your room with the remembrances. :goodvibes

I wanted non-stop but we couldn't get it. We will have to rush in Houston to catch our connecting flight. Not to mention the 2 hour and 10 min. ride we will take to get to Charleston. I don't want to sound like I am complaing though...........so happy we were just able to get a flight there. :goodvibes
Congrats on your non-stop,that will make it so much easier.

Tina, it does make it more exciting to have all the flights booked. We always fly into Savannah when we go to Hilton Head--just have a hard time paying for the extra convenience.:goodvibes

Not sure on that. My Kel did not have any arthritis issues - weight gain was a real problem. Then she ended up with a large tumor in her belly and she was unable to use her back legs - we decided against rigorous treatment and put her down in January. It was the best for her. She was 13.

Good Morning :surfweb:

I was wondering why there were so many pirates on this morning...Congrats, Tom pirate: pirate:

The weather here is awesome (finally). Power washed the pool deck yesterday and have to put all the furniture out today. Ahhh, rum punch season is just around the corner :beach: :drinking1 :drinking1

I bet it looks nice out there now. Won't be long and you'll be able to enjoy that pool:)

Good Morning Mary Ann.........Never seems to end with having a house huh? I have been busy shoveling stone and putting it around the house. They had pine needles all around. Yuck !

Tina, I take it you don't like the pine straw:lmao: We put it out here every couple of years--my plants like the acid it has. We put the rubber mulch at one of the stores last year and Alan wants to put that at the house this year. :)

Thanks for the advice, sorry for your loss. Of course Miranda is the typical nutty Dal, acts like a 2 year old pup one day.... Then lame the next few....

I've done that for our family members when they were going. We just called and it was really really easy. I think that may require too much effort and I don't know exactly how to ask for that...:confused3

I actually think it is easier than getting the gift cards -- one call and they are done. Paula had a great idea about the pdf form, too . . .

If you know someone is going to give a gift anyway, it is easy to say or email to family, "As you know we are going on a 15 night Disney repositioning cruise this summer from August 17 - September 1. We would greatly appreciate gifts of either Disney gift cards or onboard credit to our account for XX and XX's birthdays. To give onboard credit, simply call XXXX and give the amount of credit you are giving and a credit card number. Our reservation # is XXXX and is of course under the last name of XXX.. Thank you so much in advance!"

I know , I know its been a little while , but we have been extremely busy here with Birthdays (all 4 of us fall within a week or so of each other) Football of course , which is great cause in Vegas we have Fall football and Spring and both boys are playing spring ball right now plus we have been car shopping for Dylan :scared1: :scared1: Wow , hard to believe he is growing up on me so fast , but with all the improvement he has done with himself, school and home I think he deserves to have a little responsibility like having a car. So we have looked at new and used and its driving me crazy lol But I think we might settle on a new Hyundai Accent hatchback ...All the dealers I talk to are shocked that I want a Manual transmission for Dylan ..I said I am trying to be a smart parent , A stick shift means paying more attention to the car then friends , also means minimum risk of Texting while driving (geezz I cant believe how fast these kids text on these phones ..LOL ) Dylan has already sworn not to text at all while in the car , so having the stick shift should help that out ...He needs to really know how to drive a car as opposed to having an automatic and just being a passenger with a steering wheel ...lol

Happy Belated Birthdays to all of you who have had them , Welcome to any new Swabbies ...Make sure you add the cruise banner to your signature line or Ye may be walkin the plank ..

and :grouphug: :grouphug: to Monica , please keep us updated

Tom, my brother gives his lab. glucosamine, I don't know the dose he gives, but it really helped. I know they make it just for pets, but you could ask your vet what dosage if you can't find that one.:)

I noticed you haven't been around. Sounds like you all have been busy. I always liked to watch the spring football practice. It was always so muddy out there---and a blessing they didn't have to bring the cruddy clothes back home.:) Good luck to both of your ds on their season.

Do you know I have just received a cheeky e-mail form someone as follows:-

"As you know we are going on a 15 night Disney repositioning cruise this summer from August 17 - September 1. We would greatly appreciate gifts of either Moet & Chandon champagne –Dom Perignon $185, (I can’t stand the cheap stuff) or onboard credit to our account for our 2008/2009/2010 birthdays. To give onboard credit, simply call Disney cruise line and give the amount of credit you are giving and a credit card number. Please note the minimum On board credit is $1,000, and it would be nice to leave the number of a credit card with a high limit, saying ‘'its for express checkout’’ Our reservation # is 6050 and is of course under the name of Julie Thank you so much in advance!"

Monica sorry I did not log on last night, but just wanted you to know how happy I am DS was found safe & sound! Take care & hang in there!

Live from a tent!

Marshmallows have been toasted, snipes have been hunted, and it is lights out. Of course lights out really means scream from tent to tent for at least an hour.

Monica, I was hoping to find a good post from you before I reached the end of the thread. Lots or prayers for you and Trevoy.

Now that's my type of camping with connection to the internet!!! :surfweb:

Here is a picture of our new conservatory which got finished last week. :dance3: We are thrilled with it. Its 12C outside at the moment and double that in the shade in the conservatory. Loving it!

Don't be deceived by the blue sky and sun in the photo, that was taken yesterday morning at below freezing wind chill temperatures.

2425687239_5990b37191.jpg

I can't believe it's below freezing & everything is still so green & beautiful. I mean I believe you unlike Crash, but it looks amazing there. Love the house! :thumbsup2

:wave2: everyone!

Late night for me - the first in a while. Just wanted to let everyone know that the traitor as returned amongst you. The guilty one? Me!

DH and I attended a DIS meet for the WB which leaves in 3 weeks!!! :scared1:

What is even scarier is that DH hasn't gotten the flights yet! Double :scared1: :scared1:

I was going to buy then when he said no he'd do it - but he got sidetracked. In the meantime, I haven't even begun to pack. I'm toying with the idea of just taking clean underwear and then going shopping! I know where 3 outlets centers are just outside WDW. :scratchin Wonder if the sales over there are as good as any I can get around here.

Oh - on a note - UGG has put out some rubber-soled flip flops with sheepskin bottems instead of just the flip flop straps. Those are rubber but the insoles are sheepskins. AND they come in many colors. Norsdstroms has only 3 colors but some independent sellers around here have a myriad of colors - one store had over 8 colors!

OK - forgot to mention - they cost $30. Which sounds like a lot for flip flops but they have a long shelf life - the bottom is hard rubber. DD got brown and I got black. They run a bit big - I wear an 8 but the guy told me to get a 7 so they run kinda like the standard UGGs.

Be back later - on to skim.

I can't believe you're leaving for a repo in just a few weeks! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!!! :cool1:

Pecan coffee cake anyone................

oooh miss your breakfasts Tina! :goodvibes

We were the every embarrassing proud parents!

You deserve to be proud!!! Congrats! :cheer2:

Morning everyone!

I don't usually do this as it typcially isn't very pleasant, but here goes...

Presently here in Southern Wisconsin...

55 degrees, Sunny, going up to 73 away from Lake Michigan. (I am "away from the Lake, in case you were wondering!)

GO US!!! :wizard: :cheer2: :cheer2: :p :beach: Ooh, I just learned something, you can only have 25 smilies in a post...

Can you tell I am excited?

Yay!!!! :yay: We can't get above 60 around here due to a lovely sea breeze! I had to take out most of your smilies or I couldn't quote you!

I've been playing with getting pix at my DS8's baseball games (DS10's games have been evening so far, so too harsh shadows), and have gotten lucky with a few shots. Ignoring the "stylish" slide my DS is putting on here, check out the opposing catcher caught in mid air

Congrats on your non-stop,that will make it so much easier.

We paid more than $200 per person non-stop from Boston. It was a bit more than if we went Southwest, but I am not a fan of flying so it had to be non-stop! :scared:

Okay I think I'm all caught up now it's off to food shopping! The fun just never ends around here!
