Hope everyone in Illinois and Kentucky is safe and sound from the early morning earthquakes.

I selpt through the whole thing!!!:cloud9:

Apparently we have a priest on our cruise. He's taking a poll asking who would be interested in Mass or a non-denominational service onboard.

What a thoughtful and generous offer!!!:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone! I guess we had some rockin' and rollin' in the midwest this morning. I slept right through it. Hope you are OK Paula. Cheryl did you feel it?

51 and going up to the 70's! Spring finally.

When I take my Ambien ....I am out to the world including earthquakes.;)

I saw that, UGH, some people just can't appreciate kindness! Double UGH!!! :( :(

I can't believe some people can be so rude!! Triple UGH!!!

I'm amazed.....there are so many "smarties" on this cruise. Makes me feel safe because if we end up marooned on a deserted island, we will have a coconut radio in no time!

Are you talking about the rolled candy in a bag!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Although the Coors example was intended to be funny, it is a huge issue.

A person I work with on some multistate projects is the state emergency management chief for a very large southeast peninsular state. He points out (through drills he runs) that most hospitals and other health care run on "just in time ordering". Within the fault zone is a major shipping operation (fed ex?). Without them, how long before hospitals run out of drugs, blood, etc. Without ability to ship via rail or truck across mississippi, how long before food supplies in NYC start running low and food starts rotting in Kansas?

It is a fascinating discussion for us "worst case scenario" types. (Did I mention my DW calls me "Mr. Worst Case Scenario?")

No more Demon Pork..."Mr. Worst Case Scenario!!":sad2:

My house last night....... The large piles of hail on still here -- killing my brand new landscaping! Our front yard, driveway, street are covered with oak leaves & branches. Since we are the only ones living on our street I suppose that means that I am in charge of clean up! LOL! There is a pretty good size limb in the street........

HailDriveway1.jpg

Glad no damage especially to my bedroom!!!:goodvibes

But at least for once when I ask my wife if the Earth moved, she can answer 'yes, yes it did'.

No Comment!!!:rolleyes1

So far still no locusts, but I think we're getting close.

Do ants count???

I have the Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook right here next to my desk...

20/20 will be debunking tornado myths tonight....

Hey Mr. Gloom and Doom!!!:rotfl:

yeah to bad Cheryl never even woke up.

I want to say something soooo bad but I am restraining myself!!!

No, standard issue SAW (smart add wife)

Now you and John have something in common!!!

Even with chocolate frosting count.:confused3 :rotfl2:

Only a select few might recognize THIS 1st image below...

Lisa ...

... it's only SUnday if you're in the UK - as Andrew can attest to. So you go ahead and get some extra rest! :surfweb: If ya get inta any trouble because you're now LATE... then just blame Andrew. ME, I'm completely INNOCENT as I'm just passing along the "gospel" from an otherwise reliable (if a bit quirky as a Time Lord in training) DIS neighbor. :hippie:

My new excuse... it was my DIS friends' fault. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Living on the other side of the pacific rim of fire, we get our fair share of Earthquakes too. One of our tasks for tomorrow is to check our emergency kit and see what food items need swapping out for new ones. We have about 5 days worth of food in the kit which we keep in our garden shed along with a huge sealed container with water. We figured even if the roof collapsed on the house by day 5 we'd have probably made it to the pantry to get more food supplies - or raided the supermarket over the road.

This site shows the last 30 earthquakes in NZ http://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake/quakes/recent_quakes.html - pretty much about 1 per day but most aren't even felt. We get a pretty decent jolt about once a year - just to keep us on our toes.

I last updated my kit about a year ago - the shelf life of the dried foods is 5 years, so I should be good for a while yet. Still, I suspect I'm unusual in that regard.
The prospect of a midwest quake is scary though. When I travel out there I'm always shocked by the "flimsiness" of the construction. Like highway overpasses standing on numerous narrow pillars - almost like stilts. Or brick houses. Around here the overpasses are generally massive creatures and there's visible cabling where the roadways are tied down to the supports, and the supports to each other.
Whether it's construction, or even the small things like tying down your water heater (a legal requirement), or bolting bookshelves into wall studs (something most of us do without thinking when setting them up), even the least prepared Californian isn't totally unprepared....

I have 8.5 hours at the ballfield in my future today, but at least it doesn't start at 7:30!

8:30 photos
10:30 game
11:30 photo
12:30 snack bar duty
2:30 game
Then we rush over (late) to the Cub Scout overnighter. DS9 also has a game Sunday right after the campout.

Catch up with you tomorrow some time.

It's crazy how crazy our weekends are. We only had one game today. We're taking my Dad out to dinner tonight for his 75th birthday. He has dementia & is staying with me for a few weeks. I spent 45 minutes on Thursday night trying to explain to him that his doctor wasn't going to be mad at him if his pants were too long. It's not that I needed him to understand I just needed him to go to bed. I went to bed late as a result & for some bone-headed reason I accidently set my clock an hour forward when I was setting the alarm, so I got up an hour early on Friday.

We have church, a practice and a game on Sunday. By Monday morning I'll be wondering where the week-end went.

So I have not been on line much lately... and as such - does this mean my prescence contributes to a less than peaceful time... or shal I just say it... I bring a vortex of chaos where-ever I post.... or would it be fair to say my arrival displaces the evil of those with desperate singular views? Either way - I see myself as the pure essence of INNOCENCE since I recently COMPLETED my training as a Time Lord. Well... it WAS a Time Lord in training coorespondance course - found on the web no less. SO I am still waiting for my credentials to arrive from Nigeria.... they should be sending it soon though as I WIRED the funds and all my personal indentity data as requested. Or rather I sent what I knew of Andrews' personal data (your know - his pension account serial number for payment - and so on mixed with MY mug and address.... no sense exposing my assetts, eh?) with MY name in place. It was Nigeria ... with a western union wire address in the Netherlands for the funds! < wink >

OK... I gotta go now ... Alicia wants to wander and shop a Macys' sale (extra 20% off coupon plus a bunch of stuff already 50% off... last nite she went macy hopping with a girlfried and found among other things Tahari suits originally $360 going for a final price of $32 after all the discounts the girls scrapped together!.... and I think Alicia bought like 5 suits and a dress yesterday while her girlfriend got a couple of suits and dresses [half Alicia found for her - Alicia has a knack for filtering through racks - and knowing just WHERE to look]).... OK... I gotta get going ... as Alicia just quipped "...Tom, WHAT are you doing? The kids gotta get ready to go... who's doin'...(etc.) ....".... SO I better get going now.

Later this afternoon Julianna's Brownie troop is planting trees at a Earth Day festival ... and we will meet friends and fellow Brownies there... so we will return later this evening. That is - unless I get access to a Tardis before or after) then.... < wink >

TTFN!

tardis.gif

Alicia just came by to ask me with a tone of dripping sarcasim : "...well, can we go?..."

Lets just say my inbox was active last week after one post I made.(Positvie PM's).......99% of people here are very nice, and help each other,

Duly noted sir...

tardis0tb.gif

I gotta go now .... before Alicia gets on a "shopping warpath"....

as such her present state is shes' a "girl on a mission"...

TTFN neighbors...

Have a good one!

I can only blame the Doctor and his TARDIS, it never goes exactly where you want it to go, time or place. So sorry if there was a time slip and its still Saturday.

Anyway I enjoyed the Panama cruise, now I can look forward, ( or backward) to the 2009 Eastern cruise.

Pity I missed my birthday!:cool1:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Does that mean you are not another year older?

Glad no damage especially to my bedroom!!!:goodvibes

Your bedroom is directly across the hall from that door off the driveway. :) Which faces South and your bedroom faces North. :goodvibes So, no hail on your windows.

:lmao: I better stick with tea that night or I won't be able to make any reservations!

I seem to have run into that Dr. Who guy because I appear to be missing some time from last night. How was chat? :scared:

Cade had plenty to tell us about you! ;)

 Lisa, this reminds me of my grandpa who had alzhiemer's (the early stages, anyway). He would keep my grandma up for hours over some silly thing. Several times she had to call other family member over to help "settle him down". He was the most happy-go-lucky person EVER. Then this terrible, cruel disease came along. He did become aggressive even. He thought we were all holding him hostage at times. Threatened to call the police. It just broke my heart to see him that way.

Morning everyone! Going to be a nice weekend here, it's already in the 60's. DD has softball practice at 2 PM

Hi Paula!:wave2: So you slept through it too? Glad things are OK with you.

Well time to start the wash and start packing for next weekend! It's not too early to start packing is it? :lmao: Our flight leaves next Sun about 10:30 AM so we don't have to get going too early for a change.

Tina, next Sunday will be here before you know it.:goodvibes

passover.jpg

Happy passover for those celebrating tonight . . . my middle daughter was honored to be invited to a friend's house for their seder tonight . . .

:thumbsup2

Happy Monday all!

I know what you are up to, Andrew.

You are gradually jumping the days ahead of themselves. In a few more days you will be posting, "So, did you all enjoy the EB cruise that we just returned from?" :lmao:

:thumbsup2

Happy Monday all!:rotfl2:

Ps Just been offline watching my fav show again! Travelling with the Doc!

Torchwood_S1_final.jpg

I just got back in from the Earth Day and shop-a-polooza at Macys. I think we hit 2 Macys and the Earth day thing was larger then I expected ... and our Brownies planted a HUGE tree... with a little help from the park staff.

Right now I've got Torchwood and Dr Who episodes recording on the DVR. I'm soooo tired from this day of runnning around. In a bit I;m gonna start watching the stuff I recorded today... so I'll be doin' the same as you Andrew.

Oh, I know it will Paula. I wish myself from vacation to vacation! Need a change of scenery real bad.

DD's soft ball practice went well. Nice coach this year.

Need all your prayers. DS ran away today. Going on 6 hours now. He finally called and I was able to activate the GPS on his phone. He's about 20 miles away. My brother is going to try to find him.
