Seeing this (congrats on your 4000th posting) made me dredge up this old image I edited to mark another occassion for you Julie:

So - allow me to recycle this by gently urging ya' ta' just multiply it by FOUR please!

You most likely know I try to help out on the Main cruise boards, and answer some questions there, but in the last couple of nights, I feel like I am being 'shot' down everywhere I go.

Not paranoid, but when you try your best to help some posters are not happy,

One asked for a 'menu's link, I posted one that I knew off, and then another post comes in, ''is it current'' the OP wanted current ones.-Well I think it is?

REAS, try to help on that, and suggested when it comes out for 2009, check the package ensure it hasn't changed, another post back, 'its never changed, spoken to DCL'. Actually it has, rain-forest pass for couples massage for example, booking with DCL direct and Debbie, now on-line.

And the big one, there is a disser who lets say isnt into European cruising, and feels strongly the American family market do not cruise in the Med.

In all the years here, thats the first addition to my 'ignore list'.

Anyway, try to be positive, off to lick my wounds, I feel its time to give up posting on the main forum.

Sorry for rant!

There's always going to be that person who is going to rub you the wrong way. (And here is where M steps in and says, yes, it's you, J. R., so I'll beat her to it. ;) ) I've had my share of those on the main boards too -- seems some people love to show they are somehow superior by slamming someone else.

Shrug it off and keep posting -- there were quite a few more people in those threads thanking you for your comments and even the lady who disagreed on the REAS came back and admitted you were right that it had changed.

I've got y'all beat. When SWMBO was going into surgery with our first (c-section), the doctor came and asked me if she wanted her tubes tied! Good thing I'm the kind of guy who knew the right answer, because I expect some husbands may have not answered that question correctly. I thought it was very odd she would ask me that. But then again, we were in a public hospital in Alabama (where my wife worked at the time).

Wow, your first? Good answer J.R.

I was asked 971 times if I wanted them tied with planned c-section for #2. We figured we were done having kids, but I had this wierd irrational fear that if I had it done then something awful would happen to baby DS & we would someday want to try again. He's the one that spent 7 days in the NICU with some mysterious ailment, so I can't even imagine what would have been going through my mind...

Sheesh J.R. It's not like I'm the only one who picks on you!

Seriously Andrew, I know I'm not the only one to have expressed this - however let me add my voice in saying you are indeed a shining beacon of hope and good cheer in our community - and don't let these pithy sorts get ya down. I bet they lurk our threads in the hope of poking flames and barbs into good folks like you.

Now having said all that, let me add that I take paypal and Mickey Bars in compensation for the friendly remarks posted here. AND, I have NOT forgotten about that "crash the PM box of crash" posting you frivilously posted recently. And ... I'm just lurking in ambush for the right opportunity....

There is a poster that totally gets on my nerves making negative comments. He lives about 2 miles from me. Hope he does not come to any DIS Meets. :sad2:

I remember when you posted that, Crash! Thank you, as always. :goodvibes The truly frightening thing is that both that post and the announcement of the 4000th post have occurred on this very thread, within the space of about a year, I would say . . . that is a lot of postings when I can scarcely remember making a significant announcement or providing any real information of any kind!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks for the welcomes. Now I wonder how long it will take me to go back and read all the previous posts......

.....well....the weekend is coming up....:rolleyes1

I see you are in Anaheim. Several of us will be in DL next weekend (14-16) for a mini-meet. If you're around maybe we could say hi.

Well, we got back from the drs a while ago and dd has the beginnings of streep. Dr said it wasn't that bad yet, but it was good that we caught it! So I have a very long weekend. They gave dd some Motrin and her fever is down and she is perking up. She's on amoxicillin for the next 10 days. I've been trying to get her to take a nap and well that's not going so good! But she looks alot better and I'm glad we headed off worse.:thumbsup2
Glad you caught it early:thumbsup2 I learned from a friend what happens if you don't:sad2: Her son wound up with kidney damage, apparently you can have strep and no symptoms :confused3

Looks like I get to join your club!!! ;) :rolleyes1 I had two moles removed last Tuesday.:headache: The one I thought was bad as it was scaly turned out to be nothing..... but I had a pretty little beauty mark and doctor said that had to be removed too. It was no biiger than a straight pin head.

I just got a call today(I went back Tuesday for stitch removal but no results). The margin was not clear so rather than be sorry later....I have to go back and get a larger hole too!!!:sad2: Maybe we could just use play dough to fill in our holes.  :flower3:
 I'm making my appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow:rolleyes1

Wow you are a hard group to keep up with. Especially since my home computer died back in November. Glad I was reading and now know that the cruise is going to cost me $15 more. Makes me glad it is just me as I can dig up $15 even if I have to go panhandling.

Anyone else out here traveling solo? Has anyone ever done a cruise alone? I am wondering how strange it will be having dinner at Palo alone. Also if my server will think I am an alcoholic when I order a wine package.

Being from back east (NE PA) and going to school around Philly - youz guys was frequently used as well as "Where you at?"

Sorry to hear the bug is working its way through this group. I was sick for 3 weeks. Finally started getting better last week. It is brutal. You think you are getting better then it comes back at you. I only got an inhaler - Dr. said not much we can do - everyone has it.

BTW - looking into getting a laptop to replace dead home computer. Anyone out there have any recommendations? I am leaning towards a Dell XPS.

See, now that we know you, you aren't really on your own anymore:laughing: You'll know lots of folks by the time the cruise rolls around:thumbsup2 I know as far as my DH and I are concerned we'll go our separate ways on the cruise at times because we like different things. I'm shopping or wine tasting and he's baseball watching or hanging at the pool and the kids are doing their thing.

As far as computers, I'm clueless:confused3

Oh - I remember another one -
I am going to board my dogs for the first time for this cruise - it's going to cost between $1200 & $1600.
TIA

 My G** you could take them on the cruise with you for that price!

Hi,
I see Monica already posted about the med repo - Yeah - I flew over to Paris then took the train to Barcelona and joined the Magic for the repo to Fla.- on my own. Now having said that - I was lucky to be sailing with friends as Monica mentioned plus I got to meet and get together with those who I "met" here. And as Monica said - I LOVED it. I had the best of all worlds - time just by myself and was invited to join in the fun w/others!!
BTW - as Monical said we are planning both a Wenches Palo Tea and Wenches Palo Champagne Brunch. PM me if you're interested.
With this crew - there's no way you'll be lonely - only alone if and when you choose!!

:flower3: sorry, didn't mean to speak for you........well, yes I did :rotfl:

Can't wait to see you next week. Let me know whether or not you go things worked out for Friday.

We are ON for Friday!!!! Lori's solution made sense - Pau will be fine w/it.

Didn't mind you speaking for me - you were one of the reasons I decided to take the cruise!!

Stacey,
Are you arriving at DL on Fri. or Sat.??? DGS Matt & I are having brunch w/Monica & Trevoy on Fri. - but I've got to leave in the afternoon. And, on Sat. Matt has Little League so we won't get to DL until the afternoon.
Please get well really fast - really looking forward to meeting you!!

so you're leaving Paul to his own devices?????

:cool1: yeah, for me and Trevoy..........sorry Paul

Oohh oohh, they're egging Patti Scialfa's house!

Am I the only one who didn't know WHO this Patti person was? AND ... I must be missing something ... as what is the big deal or iside message about the egging thing here?

patti_scalfia.jpg

Vivienne Patricia "Patti" Scialfa ("Skal-fa") (born July 29, 1953) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, best known for being a bandmate, and later wife, of rock star Bruce Springsteen.

I like the form factor (physical attributes) and reputation of the Olympus over the Vivitar. COnsider ... the rubberized exterior make the Vivitar seem more resistant to shock - however that same yellow rubber makes it grippy in the pocket as well as bulky... so I believe it is less suited to slipping into a pocket - as the Oly could be carried. Plus the rubberized Vivitar uas NO ADVANTAGE over the Oly in terms of basic shock or water resistance. In fact, the Oly can boast of something the Vivitar cannot - and that's a design resistance to extreme COLD and resistance to being CRUSHED with it's tough cast magnesium body. AND... if you can find the Oly on clearance at Target with the rebate - THAT would be far cheaper. Now I am looking to match up the rebate online - then I'm going to send Alicia out to look for this at our local Targets. If I find the rebate coupon online I'll post a link below HERE.

However, as always ... the final photos you get will be the result of the PHOTOGRAPHERS' skill and artistic eye.

Thank you Tom,I knew I could count on you for an informed opinion. I have no photographic skills whatsoever...just point and click.

Ahhhh, the fine art of egging! Usually done on Halloween, "egging" is literally throwing eggs at people, buildings, cars, etc.
