Welcome home Liz. Congratulations on DDs success. You had great weather to come home to.
Julie, my first job in NYC was right off 5th on 44th st. Worked for the architects that did the Empire State Building. They staged the parade down all the side streets and all you could hear was the drums all day long. I loved it!!!(they hated it ) The office was so stodgy it brought some fun in for the day.Bad part was trying to get lunch that day and fight the crowds.
The parade ends at Fifith and 86th, and I'm a few blocks away on 88th, so I can hear the drums and bagpipes until fairly late in the night as people get back to their buses, head to the bars, etc. I like the chaos, personally, although a friend of mine from Dublin noted that in Ireland the day is an actual religious holiday and not celebrated AT ALL as we do here . . .
