Watch out J.R...............Your sweetness is showing again!!!!;) :goodvibes

Nah, I want Andrew to keep posting so people keep arguing with him. I like a good fight.

(J/K Andrew)

that was me who wrote that Lisa..... Just trying to be more picturesque for the non-Philly crowd...

And trust me i know..... A hoagie should have an amoroso roll... Not some other baked bread...

Then again i don't think they even call them hoagies in Pitt..... Once you pass central PA they call them subs....

Nope, they were definitely called hoagies in SW PA. In Pittsburgh, however, a hoagie was any sandwich on a long roll n'at. Probably could have been PB&J and someone would call it a hoagie.

first one to get gout wins !!

I guess that means I win! No lie, dr yesterday says that everything I am explaining to him about my foot points to gout. Tells me to watch my diet and quit eating red meat and drinking beer - are you kidding me? I eat red meat once in a blue moon and I never drink beer. Needless to say I was upset, he gave me some cortisone and did a blood test. I am awaiting results of the blood work and I am still in a lot of pain.

The doc had no sympathy for me whatesoever and I was bawling because one I was in immense pain and two he told me that basically I should give up my running because running will aggravate my foot - he stood there and looked at me bawling like a man does when he doesn't know what to do with a girl crying - no words of encouragement, nothing.

I hope he is right; that it is a Gout flare up because he tells me I should be walking on it and honestly it hurts too bad to walk on it at this point. I give the cortisone a day to work and we will see how it is. By Monday if I am not better I will be seeing another doctor. I just hope I am not doing more damage to my foot by trying to walk on it.:sad2:

Anyways..........what do I win again????

Sending good wishes your way! Feel better!

But he was sleeping with her before that. Clarence Clemons was once quoted when asked about why the band broke up: "Should've never let girls join the band" in reference to Patti.

Personally, I don't think she was really Yoko Ono or anything, but I think some people always need someone to blame something on and she was convenient.

And how the heck did we get onto Bruce Springsteen? It's like an ADHD convention in here.

I read that last night as well as the fact Patti had been with the band since like 1983 or 84 - at least from the "Born in the USA" album/tour.

Definately! I would call another doctor today for a second opinion.

Yep. I still sometimes tell my kids to 'pick up the floor'. And my smart-add 14-year-old pretends to try to lift the rug.

(I think I've told the story about this being the kid, who when he was five, was banging his truck into the closet door and when I told him to stop banging his truck into the wall, he said "I'm not, I was hitting the door". I spanked his bottom and told him I wasn't hitting him, I was hitting his pants. He's a future lawyer.)

Ah, yes....my Megan was about four years old when she was being naughty and stuck her tongue out at me. I told her not to stick her tongue out at me and she replied that she wasn't...said she was "just tasting the air"!!

Kids say the darndest things.

Interesting - ranked as of Febuary 11th...

Well after 13 years of being number ONE, Bill Gates is not the richest man on the planet anymore with 58B (up 2B from last year) ...

His net worth is #3 behind Mexican telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helú at 60B (up 11B in the last year .... and up 100% in the last 2 years!) , and Warren Buffett is #1 again at 62B (up 10B).

My dad went to high school with Warren Buffett. They played on the "table tennis" team together...can you say "nerd"??....
Dad said that Buffett carried a briefcase in high school and studied the stock market at lunchtime. Guess he knew where he was going from the get-go.
I've often asked my Dad why he wasn't "best buds" with the guy. :confused3 :headache:

:scared1: New Doctor !!!!!!

DH was going to a podiatrist to treat his arthritic big toe, which also is crooked due to bunion? (I think that is what it is). The nut job wanted to operate on it and kept telling him that he couldn't have a cortisone shot due to his Type 2 diabetes etc........ Went to another better qualified Dr. and He administered a cortisone shot and has been a blessing ever since. The thing about the cortisone is if you are on insulin, there is a reaction. He never was.

What a nice job Cheryl has, getting paid to watch movies.:3dglasses
Everyone have a great day. They are scrolling the tornado warnings for the counties above us. Hope Andys Mom will escape them...

HUGE< BIG< EXCITING NEWS

I have decided to give up 1st and 2nd prizes that I had for my dis-meet party, and donate them to the TOAL !!!

So as a group decide how & & when we wan't to give them out. One suggestion is NOT giving it for best costume.:rolleyes1 Sorry Captain.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So 1st Prize is............Autograph Copy of National Treasure Book Of Secrets Script
(Actual copy of script with all cast autograpghs )

2nd prize is.................Autograph Copy ( Color ) Of Nicholas Cage

Any suggestions??? What ya'll think? Sorry starting to talk southern.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I didn't see any responses to this, but here's my thoughts (everyone fasten those seat belts)....

First, you should sell them and invest the proceeds in your new life, move, toe, etc. etc. etc.

But.... if you are determined to give them away, two thoughts...

  1. If you are willing to bring them with you to TOAL, we could have a meet/greet somewhere and throw all names in a hat and draw 2..... or
  2. Save them for afterwards and everyone who contributes photos to our PiratePass DVD/PiratePass Photo Sharing site gets entry for random drawing.... (shipping involved then, but we can figure it out)

Do you have to buy a plane ticket for the Nicholas Cage look alike?

Easy.... The whole gang talked about Cheryl the whole night...

I did not leave yet.:rolleyes1 No talking about me til tonight but I might have Arlene copy history or can we do that on the pirate zone site?????

Unfortunately, I think I beat you to it. I was finally diagnosed with gout last summer. For the previous 18 months, I had been running 5 to 6 miles a day, four to five times a week. Then bam – I get “elephantitis” in my foot!

It had happened a few times before and I had x-rays, MRI’s, etc. and the doctor could never find anything wrong. I would eventually get better after thinking I had sprained my foot, twisted it, etc. Like you, I rarely drink alcohol and actually can’t stand the taste of beer. I was eating a “good diet” – mostly lean meats, veggies, fruits, whole grains, etc. No bacon for me.

It appears to be more hereditary than anything. It was the disease of kings as they originally thought that high fat and rich foods caused it. Although such a diet can trigger attacks, eating right doesn’t prevent it. I’ve now had 4 flare-ups since last summer. The worst ones are when it hits the knee. I’d rather have it in the foot as it tends to get better more quickly. The only good news is that now that I know what it is, as soon as I feel an attack coming on, I pop anti-inflammatories and can usually prevent it from becoming debilitating. When that happens, I feel like I need a cane or crutches as it’s hurts like h*** to take a step. Not fun!

This past week, I took tests to determine if I could go on anti-gout medicine to reduce my uric acid levels. The good news is that I’ve adjusted my diet enough that uric acid levels are normal so the doctor just wants me to treat flare-ups as they occur. He gave me a huge doom and gloom speech about the anti-gout medicine and its side effects – hair loss, skin rashes, bone marrow deterioration, etc., etc.

As it doesn’t go away, it’s something that’s always there. We’re now in the company of Ben Franklin, Isaac Newton, Christopher Columbus, Thomas Jefferson and Henry VIII!

m & m's mom..are you a born & raised texas 's girl? * they should bring
back..the old south west conference.

No, but like the bumper sticker says "I was not born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could" When I graduated at 17 I hightailed it to the closest Southwest Conference school I could get to- Texas Tech. Everyone of my older siblings went there and my dad was VP there.

* you know..growing up..we made our own toys. while that seem like
ancient history..maybe that's why ...autism was...rare? have you
heard..all the talk..about lead ..in children toys?../ & how autism
have been going thru..the roof?...lead, is a major toxin....to our
nervous systems...hymmmmmmmm. we need to care more what
our society..is exposing...our next generation to. of course, then
there are otehr factors..like getting $$$ for autism...[ i 've heard
of parents..trying to "make" their children..meet this defintion...,
sadly].

Well, this has been a week. So glad it is Friday. Even better...WE HAVE NOTHING GOING ON THIS WEEKEND!!! For the first time since August - no hockey! I think it is great that my kids have found a sport that they love to play, but hockey season is 2x longer than just about any other kid sport. We have about a month until tryouts for next year (everyone can play, tryouts are to sort out house/travel teams).

Maybe I'll actually finish unpacking:eek:

Oh, does it come in blue??
So I was totally bummed yesterday. The Ann Taylor dress that I really, really want & I've been visiting once a week on markdown day was finally in what I consider a reasonable price range ($50 - started at $450). The store by my work has always had it in my size. I walked in today, saw the $50 price tag and all they has was Size 0. I'm really bummed, but I just wasn't going to pay $279 for it last week.

M, If you want me to check the AT store by my house, I would be happy to. We are going to that shopping complex tonight.
Cheryl & Alicia - I need your shopping mojo!

$17 would be a bargain around here - but a little high everywhere else we've lived. Around here, the standard indoor/outdoor-not-frills-we'll-feed-them-twice-a-day is almost $30.

We are going the house/pet sitter route. It is actually cheaper and better for Malley.

I thought someone would appreciate the Peep Reich.

The Peeps reminded me newsreel footage of marching Nazis. I was looking for the Hitler Peep off to the side.

Heck, I still remember the excitement of when our net worth rolled to the positive side! Our goal was to actuall have a net worth before we were 30 :)

What the heck is gout anyway?:confused3

What the heck is gout anyway?:confused3

Well.............I am no expert by any stretch but I am told its when your uric acid levels are too high in your blood, they crystalize and the crystals then attack your tendons and ligaments causing great pain, normally in the foot. My understanding is that is a form of arthritis and let me just say if Gout is what is in my foot - OMG its painful, I can't walk on it!

I fall into none of the high risk categories either which are being overweight (i am not), diets rich in red meats and fats (I eat a low fat diet with very few red meats), alcohol drinkers (I am on occasional drinker), menopausal women (nope not yet only 40), men (definitely not a man), heredity (no-one else in my family has it), I am sure there are more.

I did find that if you have thyroid disease you run a higher risk which I do take synthroid because my thyroid does not work.

Hope that helps....................

Hey, save me some lobster! DH dislikes seafood of any kind, so I very rarely get to anyplace that has lobster. So Cheryl and Arlene watch your plates. :lmao: I will likely have seafood most dinners on the cruise. Except for maybe that delicious lamb at Palo.

Thanks and Yikes!! This will be the next thing get. :sad2:
I could afford to lose a few lbs., I love my dead cows (I grew up on a ranch after all), I do not watch my fat like I should, Not meopausal- yet, and my Grandfather got gout. Hmmm- looks like all signs point to me getting on the ball with my health!

Terri, I don't have to fight DH for his. He usually orderesthe meat dishes. We certainly will be talked about in the kitchen when we order multiple servings :lmao: :lmao:
When we were on our Honeymoon, we were staying in Antigua at the end and they had a big barbeque bash that night. Surf and Turf. DH is thinking little lobster tail vs steak. Ha!!!! The darn thing was bigger than the plate. I think he felt I got the better deal that night and I did.
