Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been missing for the last week ... I had a miserable time at the dentist on Tuesday and just haven't been up to DISing. I had a large filling that had cracked - it needed to be removed and then re-filled. The procedure took 1.5 hours and I react very slowly to the Novocaine (or whatever it is nowadays) so I was still feeling things for the first part. I ended up with 5 shots to try and get it numb and keep it numb! Afterwards, everything hurt - the jaw muscles from having my mouth open for so long, the inside of the jaw from being stabbed with the needle, and of course the filling itself! :scared: :sad2: It doesn't help that I am already dentist-phobic (really bad experience with a dentist back in my teens - he refused to believe that I could still feel the drill and drilled out this same molar.) My current dentist is very nice and I try and calm down for her, but I'm still tense the whole time. She says that the old, evil dentist "butchered" this tooth and eventually I'll have to have a crown.

Anyway, between the dentist and the weather ("I'm dreaming of a white Easter" - NOT!) I just haven't been feeling very social. I'm sure I have tons to try and Ketchup, but I'm not sure when I'll get to it. I'll probably just start reading from here and do a little Ketchup here and there as I have time...

On the good news front, my new DCL Passporter book came yesterday! :thumbsup2 Given the current weather (I shoveled the driveway on Good Friday!) it is very hard to believe that spring will ever come, so reading about cruising in warm climates is very nice!

DS & DH actually went out yesterday and built an igloo (OK, a sort of igloo like structure :rotfl2: ) with a figure of a bunny sitting on top. We went ahead and had an Easter egg hunt with our next door neighbors this morning - we actually hid some of the eggs by just burying them in the snow.

Hopefully, I'll be around a bit more this week!

Pamela

Oh my! That is like my biggest fear. I could not sleep at all last night since I was so convinced I would forget to hide the eggs. I finally got up at 5:00 and did my thing.
When Megan (11) was looking over her basket she said "You know I don't like Twizzlers". I said "Oh the bunny must have forgotten". She said "Was it you or Dad who forgot?". That was the very first time she has hinted she knew anything. I said "The bunny of course" She said "right....". At least it was not a big traumatic "You lied to me all my life", boo hoo kind of thing.

My DS was very different from my DD, he figured things out early but liked going along with the pretend. I was also a little worried about how we were going to break the news to DD. She was so thrilled to have caught my DH, it really couldn't have worked out better:lmao:

My MiL has 4 very close friends and chooses to spend more time w/ them than us. :sad2:
Her loss:sad2: mostly:guilty:

That is what my dad said. A teenager that has wrecked a $40,000+ car 3 times :scared1:
I know we grew up w/out a lot of fancy things but this indulgence is not helping my nieces.
My 1st car was a Volkswagon beetle that was older than I was and that was not until my 2nd year of college. I had to take the bus to my part-time job in college for the 1st year and a half.
My Sis and her ex H are both very specialized Dr's and the kids were pretty level headed until the last couple of years. After our Sept "qualifying cruise" my Sis came back and asked her creep of a H for a divorce. He blames my Mom and I for my sister finally kicking him out. Hey, if we spent the week giving her a little encouragement :rolleyes1 - so be it!

Sounds like your sister's family is going through a rough time. I agree with you the car situation doesn't sound good. Maybe someone needs to take her to an autopsy like they did for Lindsay Lohen:confused3 I still remember the movie they showed us in driver's ed years ago:eek:

My first car was a hand me down from my uncle and I was 24 at the time. I walked most places before then or took the bus.

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome! I'm excited to be here.

That's good (I think!). At least the kids won't be bored!

Are any of the other kids going to miss school for this cruise? School here starts on Monday, August 25, so my kids will miss the first week. I was dreading having to tell the principal, but she was great about it and said that they won't miss much that first week (which I already knew). Of course, now I'm thinking about spending the day at WDW when we get back to FL and flying home on 9/2. DD turns 4 on 9/1, and I don't know that she'll ever have the opportunity to spend her birthday at the Magic Kingdom again. What's one more day of missed school? :confused3

Given the age of your kids and the understanding of the school, I think staying the extra day for WDW would be fine:thumbsup2 Much better than spending her birthday traveling:confused3
My son starts high school in September:scared1: so we really want to get him home in time for the first day (9/2).

Hey Pamela:yay:
I've had a few old fillings replaced and a few crowns too. Not fun:rolleyes1
But not as bad as yours:hug: Some dentists use music (headphones) or movies (special goggles with movie screens) to alleviate patient anxiety:confused3 Would an ipod help next time:confused3

How much info does the new passporter have on the repo ports ? I have the previous edition, which was fun to read, but not sure if it is worth it to get the new one:confused3

Congratulations, Diane!!!

That is One Well-Deserved glass o' Wine.

That's my new baby. It'll be nice not to have to park downtown or use public transit any more. I could use the time I'll save. And the cost works out over the course of 4 years to the same as if I keep my current habits.

That is SOOOOOOO wrong. :sad2:

I hope they survive the emotional scarring.

Just be careful and watch out for those crazy Cagers!

I am going to Dinseyland Paris in a month or so, Disneyland Cali before the cruise and wanted to do MK at WDW as well, three parks in a year, but due to school have to go back same day.

Actually, that is 3 Resorts, total of 8 parks if you hit them all. I hit all of them last year. I live less than a mile from Disneyland, spent a day at the parks there, went off to Disneyland Paris and spent a week in Paris, went down for the last Med cruise then stayed on the ship for the Transatlantic cruise and then spent 10 days at WDW before going back home to Disneyland (helping a friend move and drive cross country).

Im never going on vacation for more than a month again. Kinda cool that I made it from Paris to California without a plane though. How many people do that these days?

Mike, the pics are cute:thumbsup2
Which Olympus did you get?
DH has dreams of eventually scuba diving so that was part of the reason for going with the 770.

We got the 770. I wish that I had it for last year's cruise. We took pictures of sea turtles and stingrays when we were snorkling at St. Thomas, and got a shot of a what I think is a baracuda at Castaway Cay. We used a disposable underwater camera, so the shots weren't as clear as I would have liked.

I want to practice in the pool this summer. I'm hoping to get some good shots on the cruise.

Hi Laurie,

My dentist does have headphones with music, but since I knew this was going to be a bad visit, I brought my own player with the brand new episode of the DIS Unplugged! I think it did help, but its not like you don't notice there is someone drilling in your mouth :rotfl2: Although I was very stressed, I made it through the procedure fairly well - the recovery was far worse than I expected.

I have only skimmed through the port info in this one, but it seemed very similar to the 2005 edition. It does list all the DCL excursions, but you could always get that from the website. I'll try and compare this version to the old 2005 version and post how much was updated.

Can i cry? Wish i were there......

My first car was a hand me down from my uncle and I was 24 at the time. I walked most places before then or took the bus.

SEPTA was the pits.... My parents let me drive a "vomit Comet" the first few months to save some money up for a car. (they had only paid $50 for it and it sure drove like it only cost $50) About three months later i was able to get that blue camero (pics previously posted) and i drove pretty carefully in it. I did have a small incident in a snow storm (darn rear wheel drive) and bent the tire the first winter. I still am super slow when it comes to driving in the snow.

Speaking of driving in snow.........
(i may burn in hell for this next statement but here goes) I was convinced that to till the end my MIL hated me. The day she was a buried a snow storm hit Lewisburg and i had to drive our car (luckily a 4wd CRV) to the cemetery. The drive was pretty bad and the road was slick. I think she arranged my white knuckles that morning.

If anyone is interested, there are at least two people selling homemade fish extenders on Ebay.
I'm not artistic at all, so I bought one:confused3
Now I just have to decide on whether to sign up for the secret mickey, the fish extender exchange or both:rolleyes1

OK Laurie. I have a feeling you just outbid me for the fish extender!!!:rotfl:

I had to google the term - not one I'd heard before. It makes sense, though.

I learned to drive on a Yamaha Riva (back when dirt was young), and I think that teaching people to drive on a scooter or motorcycle would do a lot for instilling defensive driving techniques. I know that it did for me - even when I'm driving a Cage.:rotfl:

How fast did your youngest get through his basket:lmao: Cute pics:thumbsup2

I hate driving in the snow too:sad2: No matter how careful you are, sometimes things happen in bad weather:confused3 Have only had one fender bender in the snow so far (knock on wood). I'm all for driving super slow in bad weather:thumbsup2

I had a blue Chevy Montecarlo that was probably beautiful when it was new, but had seen better days by the time I got it. But it was free and I was grateful my uncle was willing to give it to me.

DD may get the chance to drive one of our non-cages next year after she gets her license. (or is that if she gets it?)

I've been lucky so far with courteous drivers around me and no near misses. I can't say the same about my DH though as he has had a tangle with two seperate school busses in the area. (they tried to hit him on his bright yellow Sunset TGB.) Then again he also was witness to a school bus hitting an SUV one morning. And these are the people driving our kids. :confused3
