Happy Valentines Day Everyone! I just received a great valentines present. I found out that I am no longer WLE. We are officially assigned to the Captains Dining. Last year we had late dining and my kids were ready to fall asleep at the table.

That could actually be a picture of Linus! Is that a flat coated retriever?

Yes, that's a Flat Coated Retriever. They're not all that common. And there's nothing to say that Linus is one - you'd have to have a breeder look at him. The head would be what they're looking at. And his history.

I posted a minute late coming in at 1002... and that leaves me feeling vanquished by a worthy neighbor! Let me offer my voice in echoing that you are indeed "worthy" of this humble whimsical feat my young Jedi.

Thanks for all of the "congrats". What a great Valentines Day. From Captains Dining, to a Pirate, and now I just realized that it is only 6 months today until we leave for DL. :cheer2:
 
The pirate: runs have largely become non-events, a brief small spike on the radar as we rack up posts getting to know each other.

So, I have a proposal, which I have been working on with another member of the list and would like you input. It has a few more details to be worked out, but the essence of the proposal is as follows:

As a part of thepiratezone website (or a link from there), set up a set of discussion forums for trip planning details.

These forums would include:

  • One for each port
  • One for each event planned
  • Questions that pirate:s need answered
  • etc.

The idea is to allow for detailed discussion of the specific events that would be easier to keep up on than scanning through posts in what will become multiple threads here. For example, the Roger's Jolly Pirates excursion in Aruba that 50 or 60 of us are doing would have a thread, Roger could be given "administrative rights" on the thread, discussion of things like taxi cab or public bus transportation, plans for after the trip is over (e.g. hanging at the beach for sunset), etc. etc. would happen there. Another thread would deal with the group photo at Castaway Cay, now people can commit/discuss, as it gets closer, Todd can give times, etc.

None of this would be intended to interfere with or eliminate any of the discussion here, but would instead just make it easier to find specific information regarding the events you are interested in.

Thoughts? Comments? Statements that Tom is insane?

Honestly I don't care enough about what he is to go any farther with the flat coated retriever idea . . . I know WHO he is and that's what matters. It's just interesting to see a picture of an actual breed that looks just like him.

Sounds like a good idea -- the only thing I would point out is that people are not likely to check the different planning threads that often, since there are only going to be so many places we check in on any given day. But if someone is in charge of noticing that someone has posted a question (so that a newbie doesn't post there and not get an answer for a long time) it shouldn't matter that there's not a lot of action.

As for this thread, I'm always afraid we are going to mess with the magic, but the magic seems to be fairly resilient . . .
