OTH we made a family decision to skip the whole pirate gear & just wear pirate t-s***. Otherwise we have to pack hats, boots, etc. & we'd need another suit case just for the costumes. We're just not that into it. pirate:

That's why I am not doing the full blown pirate thing--SPACE! My pirate ears and POC T will be festive enough.

We may end up just doing tshirts and such ourselves. DS is just not into this and any way that I can save space and bring less luggage is becoming tops on my list. I have several POTC T-shirts to choose from, DS has one and DH has "piratey" ones himself, so we'd be all set. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Another reason to invest in some of the group t-s**** that esteri is working on!

Us either. Minnie Pirate hats and the bandana they hand out. I do have a skirt and top that are kind of "pirate" or maybe it's more gypsy looking that I wore last time. If it fits, I'll wear it again.

My 7th grader has been asking to see it. I'm certain with all his other emotional stuff going on that he is not ready. I've initially thought he wouldn't be ready until he was about 16.

How did this group do?

They did very well. After the movie was over, we sat silent for a moment.....then I turned to them and said "Well, what did you think?" The overall response was just....."wow". I have a book that specifically answers questions about the movie, so we went through it and had some great discussions about it.

Not everyone will agree with this (and I totally respect that), but....although you can not ignore the blood and violence in the film, it is truely a love story.
And the last 30 seconds of the movie leaves you with a great feeling!

It's hard to say how your ds would react to seeing it. I know he is "fragile" right now, and I also know he is very religious. So, maybe it could help, but maybe it would be too much, as you said. One thing to consider is that there is a "toned down" version of the movie that was released like a year after the original. I have not seen that one to compare, though.

I often think of you and your ds, and offer continued prayers.

Seriously, there will be many people who won't get it. My plate is DIZNYFAN and it is in the "been there, done that, going back" WDW plate holder. I can't tell you the number of people who come up and ask me which NY team I am dizzy for.

LOL . . . I think it is just the NY team fans that have an issue . . .LOL

Don't feel bad . . mine is STRBX . . .can you guess what it stands for? I give you a hint . . I visit there at least daily :)

Thanks, all, for sharing about this. I still haven't brought myself to watch the movie. I love how you describe it, Deanna, as a love story. That is so true. My DS13 has NOT seen it yet, either. I have friends who allowed their 8 yo to see it when it first came out, but he was okay with the violence of it. I think it depends on how the child reacts to tragedy and where their heart is. My DS13 should probably see it soon, but I think my DS11 will need to wait. He has such a innocent heart (most of the time . . .LOL). I want to enable him to stay like that for as long as he can (and preferably not to ever lose it . . .).

Again, thanks for sharing . . .makes me realize I do need to see this and see it with my DS 13 . . .

Have a super day!

Speaking of saving space in luggage . . . last trip, we only brought a few t-shirts for our two boys and DH. We planned to purchase nice t-shirts (those are usually harder to find than the $3 cheapies) at each port. It was so cool to come home with 5 or 6 new t-shirts. Mind you the bags were heavier on the way home, but we probably would have bought souveniers anyway.

That may also help you to have more room for pirate gear . . .especially if it is disposable :)

Luckly my pirate outfit would fit into a large ziplock bag. As far as I can tell Mr. Cotton does not own shoes. :confused3

However, I have yet to see another DCL patron photographed throwing one of their kids overboard for the shutters staff...

That's just because Michael Jackson hasn't leased the Magic yet.

We saw a great Caps-Rangers game. Caps won 23 seconds into overtime.

We saw the Caps play last week in Columbus...I have Ovechkin envy.

If anyone sees the laundry fairy, can you please send her to my house????

I have it on good authority that she'll be flying high over Puerto Vallarta in August dressed as Tinkerbell.

Thanks Deanna. I know he can't watch it now but its good to know that 7th graders can take it. The 2 times I saw it in the theater there were kids (under 10) in there. I don't know what those parents were thinking.

And I agree, it is a love story.
