We're driving over from Phoenix in a van large enough for 5 women and their luggage...but I'm not sure when we'll return it...before dinner or after.
I'd planned on going to the Ports Of Call Village...it's pretty there. And I think (not 100% sure) we can get transportation from the hotel to it.
I know they provide transport to the port and I'm sure to many places close by:thumbsup2
I'm expecting some jet lag for us so not sure how much we'll be up for on the first day:confused3 If we get in early enough maybe we'll see you there:goodvibes

He made two "silencers" for a gun. :sad2: Apparently, it's not illegal to own one, use one, or buy one...but it IS illegal to MAKE one without a permit.
Who knew?? :confused3 But his teacher told him he could do it, so as far as we're concerned, she's the responsible party. If anyone's going to jail (but no one is) it would be her.
:teacher: Learn something new on these boards all the time:lmao:

OMG I just noticed that this is my 400th post........:cool1: This is truly an addiction.............

CONGRATS:cheer2: :cheer2: Bet you hit a 1000 by the time we cruise:laughing:

do we have one? I jave to start planning now, and looked on the website and it says they group rate is being confirmed.

Thanks!
Tigger24
I was able to get a lower rate than a group rate just using AAA:confused3
The group rate was 139.

The hotel site says "free local transporation" so I imagine it would be a matter of getting the van and a driver. Wonder if there is a local liquor store?
Looks like we'll skip a rental car then:woohoo:

My TA had contacted the Doubletree and they told her that we needed at least 10 rooms to qualify for a group discount. I know the Moms and I have 2 rooms.

Was the group rate quoted lower than 139:confused3

Thanks for the report, sounds great!!!

I think between drydock and sailing 14 months later, chances are the note would probably be found before we got in the cabin. Unless, maybe if it was put in the room safe under the little mat that sits in the safe. Want to give it a try??? ;) ;) ;)
Maybe we can all leave notes on a moderate size sheet of paper and have have Kristina hide it?

hmmmm How bout this..... During the room tour...everyone who wants to leave a note for Andy can stop by.

Of course the longerie cabinet is off-limits as a hiding spot...:rolleyes1

I understand about resistance but what is important is that you are doing it now and getting him the help he needs. My son has a 504 plan which is a step down from an IEP. It basically is a plan in which certain classroom accomodations are made to enhance my son's learning. A couple of things that are on his 504..........he gets to take his major exams in a classroom with no other children to disturb him, any written assignments that are one paragraph or longer can be typed instead of handwritten (for the sanity of the teacher!). There are many others but after almost 2 years in middle school he is still on the honor roll all A's and B's so I know its helping him. I see his confidence soaring more now and he wants to do his work now. He won't admit it but I think he is enjoying school more now too.

My DD didn't want the little one to be labeled as well. So for the first 2 years he was doing his exams like everyone else and failed the first testing for gifted. He is totally deaf in one ear and when she relentlessly consented he flourished. He made Gifted and now has his testing done where he can concentrate on whoever is giving it to him. She was ssorry she didn't do it sooner.

I looked at the map for the ART and it looks like the bus at the HOJO doesn't go straight down the road to the restaurants or Target. Please correct me if I am wrong. It's been a while since I looked at a route map.

As always tough to keep up--even with a new thread. Definitely count me in--XXL even if I "downsize" before!!! Somewhere in the deep recesses of brain cells killed or damaged by beer and snuff is my knowledge from when I played in college--just hoping it comes back!! The one parallel between then and now is that the games back then seem to have been as much (if not more) about getting to the keg or party afterward as they were playing the game.

Hope everyone is doing well. We still haven't finalized the flight out but got the return flight booked yesterday. Just one more step to being ready.

Nicholas.

Hi Nicholas.....I was wondering if you guys were still on board! Hope you are doing well!

Stupid GroundHog............ Six more weeks of Michigan Winter...........Thanks alot Pete !!!

You're correct, you would have to walk (or take ART) over to the DL entrance, then switch buses.

Isn't that fun? I love it when it starts getting close enough to start making all of the final plans like car, hotel, etc...Now if I can only bite the bullet and do mine!

Hi West Coasters!

Happy Birthday Bill Boon (DH 4boons)!!!

They wouldn't even tell her what the group rate would be unless she had a group ready to book. To me, that doesn't sound very friendly. But we went ahead and booked our two rooms anyway, because we wanted to make sure we had them.
I'm staying there in June, too, before our Mexican Riviera cruise.....my "appetizer" for this one....so at least I can check it all out ahead of time.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Stacey, no one can ever accuse you of having a boring life, that's for sure.

Are using Enterprise? They are the only rental car company that has an office at both Long Beach and the pier. Then I heard they were closed on Sunday and I sort of have dropped the ball on researching it.

Every time I talk to my mom I tell her "There's always something fun going on at my house"......sarcastically of course!

We finally have a car rental location here in Cave Creek, and it just happens to be Enterprise, so I plan on stopping in one day this week to see about us getting a van and returning it in CA.... but we'll return ours on Saturday and try the "free local transportation" offered by the hotel for the rest of Saturday. Or else we'll have to take a taxi.

For my friends who have been to DL area numerous times (or live near)...What restaurants are nearby or is there a website to look at to find some? I have been googling and have found not much...For Brendan's bday I thought I would get some gift certificates to places to dine while in California...(he is real tough to buy for)

Chrissie

Chrissie - just outside DL - within walking distance is Coco's and a "family restaurant that has pretty good food. Sometimes the service is a bit slow but the food and definitely the dessert is worth it. This restaurant is called Tillie's

They are both caddy corner to DL and Paradise Pier hotel. On the opposite side of HoJo's.

Not sure if you meant fine restaurants or just places to eat within walking distance.

Morning to all just coming on - I think that I need to try and catch some zzzzzz's as later today is "our" big football day. I'm not a huge fan but DH loves the ambiance.
