Hi everyone! Good Morning!

I just got off the phone with DCL...We are still on WLE...I guess the review the list everyday blah blah.....

Someone mentioned (I forgot who?! lol) about me planning early and the "moms" Brendan's mom hasn't offered anything....MY momhas been the advisor...we have only clashed once so far and that is about hair! I want it down she thinks my hair will look better up!
Everything else has been going pretty smoothly..where is some wood to knock on???

Have to go to my mom's work now...a coworker makes jewelry and mom thought (and told the woman!) they would make great attendant gifts!!!!!!!!!!!! (go ahead enjoy the laugh!:rotfl2: )

Those who get behind........................get left behind....

Two hour school delay. Boo.

We started w/2 hr delay.... dd was all ready to go when i came into work...Roads weren't bad at all (some ice on sidewalks; mostly the brick ones) At 7:45 am they wussed out and cancelled school.

So now she gets a 3 day weekend. Lazy school district. I went to school with far worse as a kid.

yet, this year there were only 2 or 3 days built into the schedule for it. we are out already! ridiculous!! so, now they will start taking away the spring break in april. ugh!

Only 2-3 for NY.:confused3 That's nuts... Most districts we've lived in have 5 days built in.... The worst was the year we first had a bunch of electrical storms and a hurricane. No power at the school for days so kids got off in September. Then we had many snow days too after that. We lost presidents day, and easter vacation that year.

In Md they tend to cancel school at the drop of a hat since we din't get snow too often. They will subtract school days at the end if we keep too many. (not that the kids are doing anything the month of june anyway. :sad2: .

DD and I have Fifths Disease. Coral

Weird.... How do they think you got it.... I thought it was more of a summer camp disease.....

Well apparantly I have found a way out of getting out of going to the office today. DD and I have Fifths Disease. What a pain. Fortunately the only pregnant person in the office was not in yesterday. Now I am happy to report my stint of driving to Downtown Dallas is done for the year.
Everyone have a great Friday!!!!

Coral

Sorry to hear about that, Coral -- I remember when my daughters got that . . .:flower3:

Hope you both feel better soon.

Most of them also let you hide adult titles, so flipping through, kids don't see blocked channel with "Mr. Smith's Big.....NOSE" or "Sorority girls doing....THEIR HOMEWORK" inviting fun questions....

I finished these titles just in case the kiddos that are home from school today don't ask "Mr. Smith's Big what, Mommy????" :lmao:

Weird.... How do they think you got it.... I thought it was more of a summer camp disease.....

DD, 2nd grade probably got it at school and gave it to me. So far other DD and DH appear to not have it.
Fortunately it just appears to be uncomfortable and not much else.

My parents inquired about needed shots. They are going on TOAL and a "cruise around the world" next January. They were told they needed yellow fever since on the 2nd trip actually departs in Panama. But, there apparantly is a danger of older people getting the yellow fever vaccination. It can cause kidney failure. My parents are going to have to get an exemption from their Dr. for nt gettng the shot.
So.... unless we get stuck on llifeboats in Panama, we are OK not getting the yellow fever shot (or jab for our "over the pond friends", I love that:thumbsup2 ).

More for the "newbies" among us, there is a pretty good article on Disney Insider entitled Adults Afloat looking at things for adults only on the DCL ships.

I know it is easier to say than do, but it's your day & your hair!

I wore my hair down & I'm still married! :lmao:
Everyone thought I should wear it up, but I don't like the way I look with my hair up & gosh darn it, it's my hair.

The 2 things I gave in to for my mom were the veil & the cake. I didn't want to wear a veil, but I gave in (didn't wear it over my face). And Mom insisted that the cake have pillars. Keep in mind this was 1994, when a wedding cake withou pillars was a pretty radical ideal.:)

OMfreekinG! It is 38 and raining, so my kids had a two hour delay! This is insane. What do you mean, not doing much the end of June? My kids have school until June 18. That is crazy late to me.

Oh and here is another fun and exciting school fact I discovered last night. My kids aren't allowed to run on the playground. :confused3 What??? God forbid someone should skin their knee. They are allowed to run on the grass, but they haven't been allowed on the grass since October.

Once again we apologized to our kids last night for making them live here.

My mom and I clashed over cake and flowers when planning our wedding. I wanted all white roses and an all white cake. She had a fit thinking it would be too "plain". She wanted the little water fountain and the whole nine yards on the cake. But I put my foot down on these 2 issues and nixed the fountain and got my all white cake and all white roses. And this was 1992 in Toledo, Ohio....so this too was all very radical. Well, my mom was pleased in the end when the guests told her how "elegant" everything was.

I have learned a great lesson from this, though. DD wanted me to give her a makeover the other day, so she could try on her dress and headpiece for 1st Communion. I assumed we would curl her hair and leave it down, but she had other ideas. She told me she really wanted to wear her hair up. So.....I did it just as she wanted, and she was right! It looked great up with the dress, veil and earrings.

1933 days until DH retires.

I'm not counting until we leave here - too depressing + we don't know when we are leaving. It is officially a 4 year tour, but we can likely leave in 3and we are really hoping to be out of here in 2 years.

I didn't have pillars in '96 (oh the humanity). If my mom had total say she would have put a fountain in there (remember those).....

I gave her a picture and said "MAKE THIS". and she did. I had two huge layers on the bottom. Then above that was a glass bowl filled with a rose arrangement. (that was the "seperator") and then another double layer of smaller cakes.

My mom is the queen of making cakes in strange hotel rooms. (been there done that many times.) She makes one of THEE BEST pound cakes. The cakes were baked ahead of time the day before and sealed and then she does the decorating and assembly at the hotel. With all the powdered sugar that goes into the icing... The room ended up looking like a drug lab gone bad. What the maids must think...

We had to build a tray of 3/4 plywood to hold the weight of the cake for transport. THat thing was heavy and took two guys to carry. (Just the lower part too)

Oh you didn't know that finals and all that are done by the first week in June and then they do puzzles and color and watch movies the last two weeks. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (oh yeah thought they were edumacating them didn't you. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: )

Just you wait....Next year they wanted to keep the kids until June 25th... But to many people complained.

Darlene, where in the world have you been:) :)

Hi Paula!:)

I can't keep up!!!!!!

Trying really hard to get in the planning mood!!!!! ETA: I have started looking into flights, but have to light a fire under DH, he has to decide and finalize exactly how many days he can take off. I really want to get things moving!

I'll try to post more often!!!!pirate:

We are movie buffs, too. Love our home theatre. We also have our Wii hooked up to it. Best thing is knowing where your kids are and who they are with because it's a great hangout for them.

And, watching the Buckeyes in HD is great!

Happy Friday all!

Well here we are with a snow day and it hasn't snowed for a couple of hours now. Maybe I should of taken dd to work with me! It looked bad this morning so I figured I didn't want to mess with it. I think we only got 2-3" so far and I didn't get all drifted in like I usually do. The car only has a little bit of snow on it. Every public school district in the tri-county area is closed. I bet Laura's kids have a snow day too.

Love Michigan!

Emeralds are very sensitive to temperature change - particularly heat. If you do something regular that exposes it to high heat, it can just crumble eventually.

Pamela
The also don't hold up very well to weed wackers. Ask me how I know? :rotfl2:

Roger...all of these pictures of Raleigh are giving me "puppy ache".

The kids have been "hounding" us (bad pun) for another dog since we lost our beloved sheltie, Beau, last June. We still have Sloopy, but they want a second dog. We told them we would probably get one after the cruise, but pictures of your sweet puppy are making me want one now!!!
When Mark saw the pictures of Raleigh, he looked at me with those, "I wish we had another Golden eyes." Raleigh is just so darn cute.

That's why we have 3 desktops and work laptop....
Us too. Two desktops, Two laptops and a few extra laptops around if we need them in a pinch.

Happy Friday all!

You would lose the bet Tina. We are the ONLY district in the area that has school. But I kept my kids home. Mark and I both agreed that it was too nasty out to send them. I had a heck of a time getting through on the school's attendance line, so I bet I wasn't the only one. Funny thing is they cancelled all the afternoon school. Like the pm kindergarten. And the snow has stopped now but it looks like it could dump some more on us.

Thank you Laura. Actually we are not sure what Raleigh is. :confused3 His mother was rescued 2 days before she gave birth. All 7 of the puppies look quiet different. The only lineage that we know of is that Raleigh's grandmother was a Cocker. His face looks like a golden but he has much smaller white paws than a golden. We will have to wait until he grows up to see what we got.
