8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Well.....the new tv's look great

So sad that not much else got updated

And it is me but doesn't Beat Street look the same? He said it looks fantastic, but looks the same too me...although Upbeat is definitely nicer.

:scared1: GEEZ! DId they work on the rooms or not?
Even ours for the Repo a cat 5 looked like it really needed new tile, paint, tub, ... I kept thinking they were just waiting for the dry dock to fix all the icky things in the rooms. Does NOT look like they did anything to that stateroom except change out the TV. :sad2: BOOOOO!!!
The rooms look the same as BEFORE the dry dock! I am really bummed!

Our family too is more than likely out of the 2010 cruises if what is being rumored is true. I think that I am truly depressed not having something to look forward to. If we won't be going to Europe in 2010 then I think we might head to WDW for 7-10 days next summer. Anyone up for a waterless cruise reunion?

It looks like we are going to WDW in mid-June of 2009! DH (NOT the trip planner in our family) came upstairs last night to ask me "What do you think of WDW and the Beach Club for our 20th Anniversary in June?" This is fairly unheard of - the only crazier thing he's ever said was when they announced the PC cruises in January 2007 when we were on the Magic and he said, "Why don't we do one of those?" :thumbsup2 :dance3: :yay:

In general, I've always thought June was a little less hot and crowded than July or early August. We have gone several times in early to mid June and usually it isn't all that bad in terms of weather and crowds (not low season by any means, but not the worst of the summer either). DH's first WDW trip was on our honeymoon (we did 5 days in Bermuda for him and 5 days at WDW for me!)

If the group picks another time, maybe we can come for a couple of days if airfares and hotels aren't too crazy expensive. (We usually do Pop Century or All Star with a discount :rolleyes1 )

More Photos posted on SmugMug.

For those that are very observant, this isn't new news since I have been working on this the last couple days....

I finally have photos up for...

Acapulco: http://thepiratezone.smugmug.com/gallery/6047606_Q9ZgW

Sea Day after Acapulco: http://thepiratezone.smugmug.com/gallery/6047979_KSgLQ (Includes the PJ Breakfast)

Panama Canal: http://thepiratezone.smugmug.com/gallery/6048568_mi2kV

I'm still working on Cartegena, Aruba, some more sea days and Castaway Cay! Thank goodness we only took just under 1800 photos - I don't know how those of you with significantly more are dealing with them all!

Wow, I'm sad to see they didn't address the staterooms during the drydock. I thought it was run down looking. I noticed places where you could see where they painted over areas that really needed to have been sanded down first.:sad2: Think I will wait for the new ships.

You know..

... I too had that thought this time too - as I noticed little things here and there with age or wear showing - where in the past I noticed less or none of this.

Not only am I waiting for the new ships - but I am anxious to see the pricing on them. If it's a big enough difference in price I can say I'd take the Magic or Wonder and overlook the wear and tear ... as I know my kids don't notice any of it!

Pick me pick me....(if i get a job soon)

Sure Penny.....

uh Mom....Roger did say summer. (ie the time from end of June until mid august before the kids go back to school)

Yes DD........but I prefer August or early September but I guess the majority rules.:thumbsup2

Polls!!!!!!!!!!!! WE  polls....

I know Tom likes Poles in the middle of a bus:lmao: :lmao:

But wait....I need that job first.... I had to promise DH no trip planning until i got another job...:sad1:

Will you just hurry and get one!!

Well off to git me one of those....

Wonder if Roger can get the  Banana  bus to run the east coast and pick up all up.....

Could you make a swing towards Chicago too!!;)

I can call Carla but I don't think so. That would work out really well thought, picking Diane up first in Boston. She could lead sing-a-longs until they pick you up so you could pole dance the rest of the way to FL.

Just think..........I could talk all the way to Florida!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Great. Now Linda says she needs to start stock piling her one dollar bills!

PS She's only kidding. She doesn't want Ellen to hurt her!

What can I say to top that!!! Nothing!!

We're already talking about a visit to WDW next summer as well - possibly combined with a side trip into WDC. My BIL in Boston was going to come down to WDW and WDC to meet up with us - however the precise dates have not been aired. I tend to think it would be August though. Maybe I can shift our trip to match up with everyone the plans being formed here?

Changing channels here... last nite I spoke with about 100 other families on behaf of our old preschool - which was being threatened with UNFAIR cancellation of thier contract to opertate the school. It seems someone in the city is attempting to abruptly circumvent the bidding process to put a new operator in substitution. The new operator has not been shown to be better qualified or to improve the relationship with the city (revenue or quality of service to the community). EG, the new operator has been CLOSING local pre-schools they have run - they do NOT operate any INFANT care or TODDLER programs - and DO NOT operate a 7-6PM program - only part day ... and they have nothing like the Nationally recognized accredation of our old Roots and Wings program. Furthermore, several examples of questionable conduct and merit have been demonsrated by the city finance people and proposed new operator... and so we had a large organized prescence with several prepared statements ... including one which took several of us to read in consecutave fashion. I was one of 3 speakers who drew loud applause before the mayor requested we hold the applause down. Also, one person saw me specificly speaking on City TV last nite and jumped in their car (ANGRY) over what she heard was happening - and spoke at the council as well. I was one of a couple who were singled out to amplify my comments to the council - as council members were asking me to clearify certain statements I made (infammatory). Yes ... I was a bit outspoken - however it was nominally diplomatic in defense of those who were being UNFAIRLY targeted... and threatened with destruction of thier business and destruction of the preschool which has come to pass as a great local feature of our community. Here's a simple info link for any who might be curious as to what I'm in a "huff" about here... and I might add Rogers' daughter shared a pre-school class with my daughter many years ago here... http://rootswings.info/Background.htm

At any rate - here are a couple of images of me (the trouble maker in red) shot by friends in the audience in the council chamber last nite...

I am proud of you taking on a great cause you believe in!!:goodvibes :flower3:

ITA that Beat Street looked the same to us too! We were wondering when he last cruised and if that stuff was changed since then. He seemed to take pics of stuff that maybe was new to him?

Our next trip is planned and I am calling every other day or so trying to get the free dining. It seems that it was extended till Dec 20 but doesn't seem to be availabel at the value resorts since those are already SOLD OUT! We'll be there for over 2 weeks :) Dining is mostly set, room and rental car are also set... In fact, after we got home, I noticed a passholder rate for the room (YAY) and saved us $275 and DH saved us almost $200 on the rental last night.

FastTalk.jpg

It seems there is a link to view a video of the entire proceedings from last nite : http://toaks.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=566 Here is a link to all meetings - and ours was the Sept 23rd meeting 0- click the video link or view the minutes for the transcript - http://toaks.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2 It was not quite working tonite - however I'm told it takes a couple of days before they have the wholething up and ready to run. As a suggestion - the "Jump to" scroll down should be jumped to agenda item #6 ... PUBLIC COMMENT... and I was about 1/2 the way through about 40 minutes of commentary - with 1 speaker every 3 minutes or so. And my moment of political infamy lasted about 5 minutes as a council member posed a few questions to me after I concluded. Right after I spoke the owner of the pre-school spoke and Sherry set forth some clear issues and concerns - but by no means did she toss out everything on her mind. She is striking for a renewed relationship as steward of the school.

If you get a chance to view the actual video - you'll note the council member asks what I meant by some of my allegations and comentary - in particular the comment I made about unfair business process and abush tactics exercised by the city officials in this matter. Note how i paused to glace back towards the audience to get cues as to how I might reply. A nod meaning I spill the beans - so I took the course of commentary as ently directed by the thought leaders in the audience.

At any rate - my replies were unscripted but evidently mildly emotional - even angry in some ways... as many parents felt at the way things had been handled by the city.

Villainy.jpg

It's cronyism - it's thinly vieled unfair conduct being exercised here - with the presumption folks would just roll over and play dead. Plain nonsense if you ask me! At any rate I received an open memo from the schools' owner citing thanks to all (over 100 familes attended) and that the local newspapers had contacted her to schedule an interview. Let the truth be known - and it shall set you free is how the adage goes, eh? I say -it's high time for the truth to be made public... and someone or several someones who have been sneaking around with a dark heart shall soon get the attention they so carefully sought to avoid. I vote - and so shall many others who decide as I have that something very wrong is afoot here.

How does "free dining" work? And how do you get it?

Roger.....we weren't planning on making a trip to WDW until 2010, but Rob read your post last night about going in June of 2009 and said to me "Wouldn't that be fun?"

Lots of people have gotten the dining plan promotion but are not able to get reservations. All the restaurants are booked. Wonder how that is going to play out?

eek! I never thought I'd say this....but I think I'm glad I'm not on that cruise.:confused3
When he said the goofy pool is green....I thought...why would they re-paint the pool green.........it looks green and dirty! :scared1:

Green sounds like a particularly undesirable color for a pool...

Thanks Diane for your encouragement... as yet there's no indication as to if the situation is salvagable. It seems unconciousable to me that folks in government would conduct themselves in a petty hostile manner like this. Or so it would seem tous superficially. At any rate, most of us feel we're doing the "right thing" in being strongly supportive. My children have already graduated - and 98-87% of those attending had their kids actively enrolled. So at this point I am among the few supporting the agenda without kids attending. I have always stood up to confront what I've perceived as CLEAR INJUSTICE - and this does indeed seem particularly improper.

Idealisticly, it's a fight for TRUTH and JUSTICE IMO...

... and not so superficially, it's a fight for a respected friends' career and the communitys' well being.

This is his first time on the Magic, only been on Wonder before.

This makes it much harder for me. I can't do a repo in Sept. Can't take Trevoy out of school and not sure who I could leave him with. OMG just realized he'll be 15 by then!

I'd love to do an April repo, especially since my birthday is 4/9, but again, Trevoy will be in school.

I may check into a Baltic but I wanted to go in August and now looks like they may be back in the Med by then.

UGH!! I don't like this at all if this is truly what's happening
.

I was born in April like you... as such, I'm an Aries too!

yeah... I've been practicing nursery rhymns with my younger one this week....

I'm sorry this is not getting any better any faster. We'll continue to keep your neighbors and communities in our prayers Fr Mike.
Thanks for the prayers.

I was totally bowled over by my parishioners response this weekend. We took up a special second collection at all the Masses to put into a disaster relief fund so that we could help people in the community.

The regular collection was a little over $24,000, which is typical for a third Sunday of the month, so they did not hold anything back for the second collection.

The second collection was just shy of $30,000! We also had 230 parishioners volunteer to help with clean-up, salvage, et cetera.

It is so nice to see faith put into action.

Today is the first day that FEMA is in town for people to go to for aid. We'll see how that goes . . .

Hi

I am so out of the loop...

But I was able to read a bit back...I think we MIGHT be in WDW in 2009 (maybe for a bit of our HONEYMOON!)..we are (or I am:lmao: ) working on it!

Hope everyone is well...I think of you all often!

Chrissie

Morning all! Big deal here today. The TODAY show is near my work at Campus Martis. Al Roker is here. My co-worker Dale was interviewed last week about coney dogs! Not sure if he made the cut.

We are game for a trip to WDW. Kaitlin's last day of school is June 17th, but they don't really do that much the last couple of weeks of school!

Yeah, we need the bus in Wyandotte too! I'd be willing to meet it in Toledo on the way to Chicago to pick up Cheryl and Pamela too! :cool1:
