8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Well..we just got home from our Los Angeles County Fair....you might remember that my DD was picked to display her collection. We went by to see if she had won anything..she took 1st place in the Unusual Category (she collects compressed washclothes) She was beyond happy!

By the way..on the last day or so of our cruise..someone put 2 compressed washclothes in her FE...thank you to whomever that was..she was thrilled! (She also loved the POC one that she rec'd earlier in the cruise - thank you for that one as well)

Desiree ... I sent a PM.... I may have something RARE and UNUSUAL for your daughters' collection... similar to this below:

I told our server and the head server I only liked to eat shrimp, lobster and pasta.( I hate steak):rolleyes1 I got our wish every night with a platter of shrimp for the entire table so I could share.:woohoo: :woohoo:

Nice...

.... we asked for the king crab legs and got it every now and then. But ,.. gee... I just love how they arranged your shrimp platters!

OK... I'm gonna turn in now that I'm caught up to the last point where I posted. I have a busy series of days ahead of me... soccer ... more soccer .... a sunset beach BBQ sat .... a sunday Disneyland visit and dinner after with friends .... volunteering at 2 schools .... and chores around the house left undone since our TOAL.... and lots of business issues to wrangle. Yeah ... I'm a SAHD with a business of 20+ years to occassionally tend to. Hence I've not been around the DIS too much lately - except today might have been the most I've been around in a few days.

There are sooo many things to do in the next few days ... and I found a little time at this wee hour to browse a little here. Oh ... and we just booked a 12 nite visit to Kona (Waikaloa) and Honolulu for the middle of next year. < wooo hoo! > This time we're taking more than half the time to NOT see relatives in Hawaii by spending it on Kona. Oh ... and I do have relatives there too - but I'll not look em' up! Am I being bad? Otherwise.... It's been busy - but in a very nice way.

Hope all is well with everyone !!!

I'll try to visit tomorrow or the next day if I can get a grip on my "chores"....

We loved the Jolly Pirates too! Our favorite was when Coral did that double back flip off the rope swing!

The bus ride back to the pier was about one of the craziest bus rides I've ever had! Even the bus driver was having a good time, driving around in circles. My camera battery was dead by then, so I'm hoping that somebody posts some pictures to the photo sharing site.

I posted two short video clips of the bus. It was late last night, hope they're ok.

& hi everyone, miss you

I am not sure if that is a new rule..we brought our purses as a lot of what we needed was in them. So I will let you know in about 3 weeks! :)

Shucks!

Just when i thought we'd get an answer on this one...

Seems it'l remain a mystery to me...

... anyone else have an angle on this?

ok... time to try and get some sleep...

Fellow Pirates, I haven't yet posted since we returned from this magical TOAL. I know that I don't post often and I know that I was fortunate to only meet a handful of you while onboard, but I wanted to thank all those who helped contribute to my families enjoyment of this cruise. This is the first time we have ever participated in the FE gifts, and my kids loved checking to see what goodies were waiting each time we returned to our room! I have also really enjoyed looking at everyone's photos on the photo-sharing website. Thanks so much for sharing!

Now, I hate to be a downer, but if anyone could spare some good thoughts and prayers for us, it would be greatly appreciated. We are planning to evacuate within the hour from Hurricane Ike. We live in SE Houston, and right now things are looking pretty grim for us. I'm not taking any chances, and I don't want my kids to have to experience this hurricane up close so we're planning to head out to either San Antonio or Dallas. The evacuation scares me almost as much as the hurricane. We evacuated to San Antonio three years ago from Rita, and a normally 5 hour drive took us 16 hours, many of those without the a/c in the car running due to the possibility of running out of gas and being stranded on the side of the road (which did happen to many people). Anyways, I hate to bring my worries to the board, but it helps a little to talk about it. I've been trying to be brave for my kids, but it hasn't been real easy. My DS is 10 and my DD is 8 and they're old enough to understand that when we leave, we don't know if we'll have a house to come home to. :sad1:

Think good thoughts for us!
Kim

Lots of prayers being said for you and your family from VA! Take care and god bless.

Not all the singing stars wanted to be famous on YouTube, so their performances have been retired.

Andy

I forget, how many years until they are eligible for the Karaoke Hall of Fame?

Lots of prayers and pixie dust for you guys. I hope the evacuation goes well and Ike ends up being a big nothingburger. Please check in when you can. We'll all be worried about you.

Kim, will look for your report to update us on how your family is doing. DD will be praying for her new buddy too. :) We have had to evacuate a couple of times too so the kids know what Hurricanes can do. It was great to see you on the cruise. Your kids are great! DD really enjoyed spending so much time with both of your girls. :grouphug:

I have really been missing the boards this past several days. I caught a nasty cold, and I see I'm not the only one. I have been out of it since last weekend, and today is the first day I feel somewhat human again.

My DH was so stressed out by the sellers in Cartagena. He and my DD would walk near me to keep me from looking too closely at anybody or anything for sale :rolleyes1
I couldn't help it, I found everything fascinating:confused3
DH prefers no pressure sales:rolleyes:
And he hates to bargain, he wants to be told what the price is and pay it.
I'm lucky I managed to buy anything in Cartagena at all:rolleyes:

They were aggressive yes, but I thought it was kind of fun. They all knew the same phrase "Prices dropping!" LOL! And they really were dropping. The closer I got to the bus, the lower they were. I was eyeing a silver rosary when we first got off the bus at the fortress. The vendor quoted me $15. I told him I would think about it. After our visit to the fortress, and on our way back to the bus he caught me again. As I continued to walk near the bus his price went lower and lower. Just before I stepped on the bus he went to $5. I couldn't refuse that, so I finally bought it.

Now in Aruba.....they wouldn't budge on prices. I saw some little trinkets that were $3 each and I asked if she would take 2 for $5. She said "No, but I will take 2 for $6"

As a side note to Deanna:

You made Linda cry.

The saying that was on the back of your FE gift was perfect for our group and brought tears to her eyes.

Awwwwww! Linda is so sweet! See, we just have to all do this again!

Roger - I agree on Madison she was a doll. I didn't have a whole lot of interaction with her but the times I saw her around she always said hello and was very pleasant

ITA! Madison is wonderful. Roger, she could be our prom queen! Drew would love to be her date....but please tell her to wear flats. ;)

Seriously, both Madison and Austyn are great girls. You and Cherie are obviously fantastic parents.

I was impressed with so many of the DIS kids onboard. They were all very polite and friendly.

Ok, so DS who supposedly can't hear anything. I have to listen to his TV in his room blaring over my TV in the living room. But you should have seen him shoot out of his room when I played this. I have no idea how he heard it?????
If he has a high frequency loss the horn is probably low enough that he can hear it:confused3
Or it could be selective hearing;)

I hope you are all doing well! I am still sick and my Grandpa is now in the hospital.
  Hope you both feel better soon.

Hope all is well with everyone !!!

I'll try to visit tomorrow or the next day if I can get a grip on my "chores"....
Love the Jaws clip:lmao: :thumbsup2

I posted two short video clips of the bus. It was late last night, hope they're ok.

& hi everyone, miss you

We miss you too:guilty:

Can't wait to see those videos. I heard a lot about that bus ride from DH:laughing:

I was kicking myself later for not setting up a shopping buddy to go back with. DH hates to shop and I should have been prepared:rolleyes: I did get a cute clay nativity set from one of the shops.

I was impressed with so many of the DIS kids onboard. They were all very polite and friendly.
I thought so too:goodvibes Every Dis kid I saw was great:thumbsup2

Hope your cold gets better soon:hug:

And those shrimp were good. But after 15 days I don't want shrimp for awhile. It may be my next cruise before I have shrimp cocktail.

Cheryl, Once I figure out smugmug I will post some of the pictures I have of you and John. I am still sorting through my pictures.

I think I have one of the full moon on the first night that I will put on smugmug. I forgot who asked about it.

I hope you post a pictures here or at the smug site, I am curious to see if you were one of the people I saw all the time on my travels around the ship.

I saw several of Coral on the smugmug site. I think there were a few of her taken at the PJ brunch. Coral is the cute blonde in the pink shirt.

It is hard for some people to believe how attached a person could feel from just meeting over the internet.;) I know if you lived near me ........Cherie and I would be great friends but at least we can be friends from afar. Who know...maybe you can even stay with us in Florida when we build down there:thumbsup2

My parents were even there and they didn't understand it at all. :sad2:

Dh & I both like Rodger alot and I thought Cherie and I would definately be friends IRL, too! :thumbsup2 I agree that they are great! LOL!

I feel like we ARE all friends IRL now!

I get the same sort of reactions, even from my own family, although DH keeps asking me how everyone is doing that he "knows" people. He agreed that it made the cruise so much more fun that we had people to hang out with.

Diane.....Mike is such a good guy. I know we talked about this before the cruise, but after meeting him I can totally agree with you....he is a keeper!

And some man you barely knew wouldn't have been prancing around the stage in your bra...

I'm still trying to figure out how you got that thing off so fast Tina!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: I've never even let Rob wear MY bra.....or my lipstick.

Best I can recall, Deanna's DH Rob was wearing Tina's bra, my lipstick and Shella's shoes. It was really funny because Tina had her bra off before I could pull my lipstick out of my little camera bag!

Of course, I shouldn't throw stones. We played the family version of the game later in the cruise. It was really fun. One of the items was a "boy wearing his mom's shoes". Well, most little boys came stomping up in crocs and flip flops. We had just come from dinner, so DS8 Nate went clomping up in my heels. Then the boys had to dance...

Oh, I wish we could have gotten out of dinner sooner to make it to that! I bet Nate looked so cute. He already has the eyelashes to match the heels!

I'm sorry you're sick!
My pic of Rob wearing the bra is messed up (and Bip's dh!!!) since my external flash decided to need new batteries in the middle of Magic Quest! UGH!!!! And before that night I carried the extra pack of batteries with me all the time! LOL!

Rob is eternally grateful......

:rotfl2:

I think my favorite thing that night was how long it took him to finally call M & Deanna's number after *dirty dancing*. I thought maybe he was going to have them do a show!:rotfl:

It is also very tough to laugh and take a good pic! :lmao:

PLEASE tell me you didn't get a good picture of the fanny slap!

Thank you Deanna. At least she portrays that when she is away from home :rolleyes1 I have to say that Drew and Kylie are two the sweetest kids that I have ever met. If anyone was going to date Madison, Drew would be the only one that I would allow to and live. I hope I did not scare him too much when he dined with Madison that night. I heard that Tom was giving Madison grief about their "date" :lovestruc

I feel like we ARE all friends IRL now!

Cherie wants everyone to be our neighbors :grouphug: I hope that we can still be friends after this weekends football game. :lmao:
