8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

I appologize if this happened because I would have said hello if I had heard you. :) I know that there were a few days thre was so much going on that I had to run over it in my head before I moved on to the next thing. I was in my own little world other times just relaxing.

I don't think I ever ran into you, Lisa!

The line was incredible when I walked by to do the Scavenger Hunt.

When we were in line for customs...Aly & AJ were directly behind us. They chatted with Tori all the way thru the line..it was a nice ending for the cruise.

What a fun way to end the cruise!

Way around the corner then. I wonder how many people stood in line to see them.

I think that we were in the middle -- at least it looked that way to me! LOL!

We did make the Princess Tea party at 3 and that was even more important. ;)

Two suitcases are empty and everything put away..3 more to go  I need a break.....So far everything that was breakable has made it home safely (not necessarily a safe bet because I drove home - our van was packed like a can of sardines).

10 minutes and I promise I will unpack the rest!

Sorry I haven't posted, I came down with a cold the day we got off the ship, then as it was clearing up last week, I suddenly lost the hearing in my right ear. Finally cleared up today, but it's been annyoing enough that I didn't feel like doing too much. Also had to deal with submitting 4 insurance claims for our escape out of Aruba. Three for trip interruption and one for medical expenses. Plus, I've been signing my life to DVC. We started the process quickly before we got off the ship in Aruba, so we had a lot to go over with our guide once our paperwork arrived after the ship got home.

Yes, mom's doing ok, thanks for asking. We flew from Aruba to Charlotte to Boston and got in around 1am. Spent the night at my brother's in Lowell then drove straight to mom's doctor in Maine the next morning. A quick exam by her PCP to confirm what the doctors suspected on the ship, straight to the hospital for treatment, then finally home around 6 hours later. Mom's doing fine now and has a follow up visit/test next Wednesday to make sure everything's progressing as expected.

Jennifer:

Glad to hear both you and your mom are okay - Gerald and I were worried about you. :)

So you bought into DVC, huh? Welcome home!!

We missed you after you left!!

Krista

Wow! I'm impressed! DH unpacked the dirty laundry suitcases the night we made it home - he started laundry at 10pm that night  The clean clothes (not too many of those!) were unpacked this weekend and the "stuff" like FE gifts, souveniers, daily navigators, etc. is still packed. I have 2 suitcases each about half full of "stuff" still sitting in my bedroom.

I'm glad you made it home safely. We really enjoyed chatting with you (and the rest of the gang) in the evenings! Prior to this cruise, we never really made it to any of the evening Beat Street stuff. On one cruise we went to Pub Night and that was it. Due to the great company, we were frequently at Rocking Bar-D and Diversions this time. I'm hoping we will make a trip out to Disneyland again (this time without injury!) and really see everything - hopefully, we can meet up with you and your family again :)

Pamela

I dont know if this has been talked about but we are planning to be back at Disneyland Saturday March 14th - (we will probably be there the 13th and 15th as well) And I know a few people were talking about this date as well ... So Please let me know ..

Also we may pop down on Nov 22 for a quick jump in the park but wont know till we get a week out cause of the Football schedule ...will keep you posted though

pirate:

When does your pass expire? Mine is 3/14. I forgot that when you upgrade from a park hopper they back date to the first date you used the hopper. Not sure I'm going to renew, all depends on the financial situation, so we might not be able to stay until the 15th.

If you get out here..definitely let me know..would love to hang out with you. I will try and keep you from triping! ;)

I have one suitcase left and then a bag of toiletries that have to be put away..I still have a small bag of FE gifts that I am trying to locate a place in our home for. Other then that..laundry from the road trip has been started.

Nothing broke on the trip home

I'm getting there..it has to be all put away by this Thursday...next week is crazy for me..I am in charge of Fall Product for 40 troops in our area and the sale starts soon. Also next weekend is our church Festival and I am Games Chair as well as a Captain of a Booth.

Bip! read last nights posts! LOL! It was Devon (K's dd)
So the girl I was asking about- her name is Devon? How could I have missed that...... hm I thought I read every post!
And who is K? I need the whole name please! LOL

Wow, they stood right there in the customs line with everyone? I dunno, I was thinking they'd get some special treatment like first off the ship and first thru customs or something. Is Ducky in line like that too?

Thanks for checking in. Glad your Mom is doing better! Continued prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

And yes, we loved the chicken too! The kids thought it was the best!

Good luck with your doctor visit today.

We both got asked "So how did that go, with those people you met online?" They have no concept, and were pretty shocked at howmuch better we feel the cruise was because of the people that we travelled with.

As a side note to Deanna:

You made Linda cry.

The saying that was on the back of your FE gift was perfect for our group and brought tears to her eyes.

Glad to hear you made it home safely. We were worried about all of our pirates on the 5 day, between the cruise and the flights back home. Hope you feel better soon!

Isn't that funny Mike? I get the same sort of reactions, even from my own family, although DH keeps asking me how everyone is doing that he "knows" people. He agreed that it made the cruise so much more fun that we had people to hang out with. I loved having people to talk to just about everywhere I went....Goofy Pool, Adult Pool, Diversions, the beach, etc. It was a blast! I was telling one of good friends about it on the phone last night & she said, "You mean I'm missing out on having a great time with people on my cruises by not getting involved in some of these chat sites?" and I just said, "Um yes?" ;)

You are right about academic success not always being a good indicator of success in life/jobs!

Too funny about your 11yr! LOL!

re: hard of hearing. That actually makes me feel better! I know it makes some people a little nervous when someone is too outgoing so, I really tried to not overwelm anyone. But, for a while I thought it was just me people didn't want to meet/know! LOL!

I didn't think you were overwhelming at all & thanks again for inviting me to have breakfast with you & DD since my family was being a bunch of slugs! Made my morning that much more enjoyable! :flower3:

We too had a son in a mixed class last year and the experience was so horrible that we pulled him from the school altogether. We did this only after talking to the principal, assistant principal, the regular teacher and the so-called parapro on numerous occasions. No action was taken after our meetings. My wife volunteered to be the room mom at the beginning of the year and the teacher never wanted her in the classroom. When she finally made a suprise visit, we knew why. It was chaos. While the regular teacher taught 5th grade math on one wall, the parapro taught the 4th graders simultaneously. With two teachers talking at the same time, how could the kids be expected to learn. Plus the 5th graders were allowed to roam while the 4th graders were being taught and vice versa. We know of others who pulled their kids from the class. Granted, with the right teacher, it could have worked out and been great for him to be exposed to the 5th grade curriculum. Unfortunately, it was a bad situation made worse by a inept teacher (who thankfully is no longer at the school) and an administration that looked the other way.

Too funny....we had the same experience with the fruit lady at the fort. She wanted $5 and I only had $3 easily accessible. After taking the $3 she finally walked off mad.

Isn't that the truth!! Even at 4:30 in the morning, it was hot in there!

Wish we had done the Jolly Roger at Aruba!! We didn't sign up for the Jolly Roger as our oldest has always been terrified of the ocean and fish. We did the de Palm island tour. After about an hour, he decided to try snorkeling and he loved it. He spent so much time there and was disappointed when we had to leave. He then asked me to sign him up to snorkel at Castaway Cay.

Same here! Nobody in my family snorkels so I didn't bother either, but after seeing how much fun everyone had & the fact that my DH & DS decided to snorkel at DePalm island also, I wish that I pushed the idea. I never in million years thought they would've snorkeled. Oh well they had fun & DD got to hang out with Ruby again so she was happy & I got to sit on my butt & read in the sun with an open bar nearby so I was happy!

So the girl I was asking about- her name is Devon? How could I have missed that...... hm I thought I read every post!
And who is K? I need the whole name please! LOL

You must've missed a few because both Kristina (goofyforlife) & I mentioned that it was Devon. She's a sweetheart & so is Ruby! Taylor misses her Stack friends!

Yes - it was a blast! I so want to keep in touch with everyone and I know it will be hard once this thread dies out (I'm just assuming it will since all other meet threads I've been on have...)

I really don't know if we would spend so much time at RBD or Diversions if we didn't have a bunch of DIS friends to hang out with. The entertainment at RBD was pretty good and we would probably still go so some of the shows, but I suspect we would be part of the mass exodus afterwards if all you folks weren't there!

Eh acting our age is overrated I think! :goodvibes

Ditto! I couldn't agree more Pamela!

Yes, it was the Best of Cartegena.

The 1st encounter w/ Sloth-Man was in the shopping center by Mr. Emerald's office. I had read about Sloth-Man on CC so I was not surprised to see him. My youngest Miranda is a HUGE animal lover so she held the sloth. I got out the camera to take a picture and my $. I tried to give him a 1 $ bill and he said "$5 DOLLARS"! I told him I only had $3 and he ripped the sloth out of Miranda's hands and it grabbed her hair and pulled it hard. I was not happy.
When we got back on the bus and went to LaPopa our driver told us there was a Sloth-Man there and it was only $1 to take pictures there. We did and he was great! We ended up giving him $3 he was so nice. We also gave Donkey-Man $1 and Miranda rode the decorated donkey/mule/burro kind of thing.

We had a great time in Cartagena. Loved your sloth story and Miranda got to hold two sloths for $1!

We ended up missing dinner in Cartagena to watch the sunset. Did anyone else partake -- it was gorgeous!!

Way around the corner then. I wonder how many people stood in line to see them.

Don't know what their number was, but my youngest insisted on doing this. We got there around 2:15 pm and had to walk to Shutters to get in line. I think it was around #225 give or take 10. We were probably 25 from the end. I didn't stay in line with them as I had done my duty earlier with the older boys for the Desperate Shipmates reveal, but I did get some pictures of the entire line as it stretched from the WDW through the atrium and down to Shutters. When they got close I came down to take a picture. A couple of teens tried to get in, but because of the number system they were turned away!

Finally got the phone call I had been waiting for. Now I know why it took so long to get it. They chose someone else and they accepted, so no job for me.

I honestly didn't expect the first job I interviewed for to be the one but it's still a let down that I didn't get it.

Back to the hunt.

OK is it possible that I'm getting the Disney Crud at this late a date? I had a sore throat the first 2 days we were home, but I've been fine for almost a week. About 2 hours ago I started an achy-chill thing. I feel like carp.

I know it sucks Monica, but there is something better out there.
Perhaps this job had a banned tiaras or frowned upon Patron drinkers or wouldn't let you hang pirate pictures in your workspace.

WOW! We missed it.

We were #140-ish for A&A. We started out in front of the Studio Sea door in the atrium. Disers kept bringing us food and beer and I rebooked a cruise while we waitied.

His favorite excursion was the Jolly Pirate in Aruba and this group was the main reason for that:thumbsup2

That was our favorite too! What a fun group!
I credit the group that day with 2 things. One was I was shocked when I was putting my fins on that Miranda was just taking off on her own. She had snorkled once when we were in Aruba when she was 3 but it was really rough seas and she did not like it.
Secondly- I was actually in the water! I HATE water!!! I have been to a lot of the hot snorkel places in the world and refused to get in the water.
I actually had fun. I would never have done that had it not been with a big group of friends. Thanks guys!! :thumbsup2

We loved the Jolly Pirates too! Our favorite was when Coral did that double back flip off the rope swing!

The bus ride back to the pier was about one of the craziest bus rides I've ever had! Even the bus driver was having a good time, driving around in circles. My camera battery was dead by then, so I'm hoping that somebody posts some pictures to the photo sharing site.

It is hard trying to explain to the people I work with that I felt that I was among friends. They would tease me about my "internet" friends. Even Kaitlin understands it now too. She was the worst about it! :lmao: I know that running into and hanging with everyone made this the most awesome vacation I've ever had!

Hailey says "Hi!" back at Kate.

I was so happy to meet you and get to know you...Richard still thinks I am crazy that you, Cheryl, Laura and I came upstairs to go to sleep and ended up chatting in the hallway for another hour :rotfl2:

Now why does that not surprise me? ;) Seriously, you ladies were all so fun and easy to talk to.

We were the high 170's to 180 or so! LOL!

Way around the corner then. I wonder how many people stood in line to see them.

Hailey and I were 5th from the end of the line. We had numbers 232 and 233 I think. Sounds like we just missed Christopher and June's family again! It was a heck of a wait, but it was worth it to Hailey. And I was able to run around with Zack and do the scavenger hunt before we got in line, so all was well.

Thank you! This was the first trip that we ate breakfast out (in the past we always had breakfast in our room) and I am so glad that we did! I met people on several mornings! :goodvibes

This was the 1st trip that dh and I ever set foot in one of the *adult* areas! LOL! We had a lot of fun. We would of had a different kind of *fun* if it was just the two of us. We definately wouldn't have stayed past any of the shows! Although I don't think dh ever stayed even that long this trip! LOL! I know one of the nights he had a migraine so, he picked up the kids and went to bed. The other times we were paged and he decided to pick up kids and let me *hang out*. :goodvibes

DD was # 52, we were supposed to meet back in the room to go to lunch and she came begging to skip lunch so she could get in line as she saw the line forming already, this was at 12pm. I went to check on her a few times and each time the line was longer and longer. I went with DS and KSDisneyDad's sons to do Rogers scavenger hunt. I think the boys headed down there later in the day but there were only a few people in line at that time

!

Oooh....we did too! They are uploading as we speak. It was the most beautiful sunset of the trip (that I saw!) We left dinner to go see it and every time I turned to go, it got more colorful and I just kept taking picture after picture.
Yours are fabulous!

Its fun to hear everybody's stories. I told DH I want to go on the next cruise without the kids and large group of family! LOL I had hoped to meet up with many more dis friends....especially for the night time activities....but it didn't work out this time. We had an absolute blast and from the sounds of our big family group...everybody else did too. I feel like we ran non-stop and fell into bed everynite exhausted....yet there are many things I never got to do!

I spent my morning running errands after getting the kiddo's off to school. I had to go to Sam's club...and had a box of croissants try to jump into my basket. I've never been a big croissant lover, but found them so yummy on the ship...along with many other bread items! I left that yummy aisle quickly and headed to the slim fast aisle quickly!!
