8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

I wish I had the patience to home school:rolleyes:
I can barely handle the homework:rolleyes1

I'm with you! I couldn't handle them 24/7. I look forward to dropping the kids off at school and then going home and actually getting something accomplished at home.

Sloth cost me $6.

Hi K. Glad work went well.
2 questions -
1) Is that a 1/2 eaten corndog in your avatar?
B) Why?

I'm glad Mom is OK.

How could I?
No groundhogs on this trip, but as it turns out, Sloths Tell No Tales.

first: I thought it was a martini but I think you're right!

second: Love the sloth pics! I might have to add some to my sig along with your new saying "Sloths Tell No Tales!" :lmao:

third: WTH is that guy saying to you?

I got in trouble with the man with the sloth...earlier in the day we saw a different one and he wanted $1 for a picture..DD did not want a picture...so later we saw another man with a sloth and she said she wanted a picture by him by did not want to hold the sloth...so I said no problem..we told the gentleman what we wanted and took the picture..I tried to give him $2 for being so nice about holding onto the sloth near Tori..he got angry and said it was $5! :scared1: I felt bad but seriously only had $3 on me..we didn't take much in with us and only bought a couple of things..he tossed my money back at me and said $5 again..I told him I only had $3 and tried to give it to him...I thought he was going to throw the sloth at me :confused3 He finally took the $3 and I felt bad and it was my fault not to check first but I really thought it was only $1 or $2 as everyone else that day had been only a couple of dollars.....so...no more pictures for us! I practically ran to the bus.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry you and your poor daughter had to experience this! :sad2:

Lisa, were you able to get in to the Gold Museum, where they had the larger pieces? We weren't able to. We got there at about 12:50 and they wouldn't let us in cuz they closed at 1:00. :sad2:

Nope...we never even got near the place. We finished with the one museum at 1:30 and it was already closed. I was told by others that we didn't really miss anything.

I thought I would die from the Disney Crud on Saturday.   This is a record :worship:....... I slept over 20 hours.  John passed it down to me and I was down and out all weekend.:sad2: :sad2:

I forgot I volunteered for a church rumage sale too!!!:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 I will be busy with that for the next week. :scared: :scared:

I think I am running out of energy. Anyone up for a cruise???:confused3

I have lots of pictures:woohoo: and John did not even look at the movies on our mini DVD yet.:sad2: :sad2: He was just too sick and now busy working.:rolleyes1 I hope we can figure out how to down load everying to the web site. :headache:

third: WTH is that guy saying to you?

:confused3 I dunno.

I don't know much Spanish, but I can deduce that he wasn't saying:

Where is the bathroom?
How much?
I would like a cold beer please.
My grandmother is large.
My brother is putting on his eyelashes.
OR
Please stand clear of the doors.

My DH was so stressed out by the sellers in Cartagena. He and my DD would walk near me to keep me from looking too closely at anybody or anything for sale :rolleyes1
I couldn't help it, I found everything fascinating:confused3
DH prefers no pressure sales:rolleyes:
And he hates to bargain, he wants to be told what the price is and pay it.
I'm lucky I managed to buy anything in Cartagena at all:rolleyes:

Both kids said that the people in Cartagena scared them. They loved the city though and like the fact that we were on a new continent. :) We found that the venders did NOT want to bargain at all. One told me $45 for 4 screen printed shirts, 2 kid sized. I said $25. He said 45 so I said no and walked away. We looked in every shop on the way back to the bus and he kept following us lowering the price by $1 each time. I stuck to 25 and he was only down to 35 when I got on the bus and said we didn't need any more T-****s. The only thing we got in Cartegena was a card with their coins, 2 braclets and a little magnet.

I totally freaked out when we were on the bus by the fort on our excursion. Some guy selling water pretty much came on the bus and I finally had had it and yelled, "WE ALL ALREADY HAVE WATER!!!!" Do I even need to say that I don't do well with people attempting to sell me things on the street (wait, that doesn't sound right....)

:confused3 I dunno.

The "my grandmother is large" one struck me funny as sell as "My brother is putting on his eyelashes."

We didn't buy the first thing there. In fact, we didn't buy much in any of the ports. Went to Walmart in PV and bought Kevin a few tanks tops and me a short set,2 souvie pics at Zipline($10 ea). And 2 t-s***s at Big Twin Harley in Aruba,2 t-s***s at CC. Oh, and 2 ball caps at DL.

Thanks! ;)
Bonus points will be given if you can recite the entire name of "someone, someone, someone, Miranda, someone, someone, someone, someone". :rotfl:

I have a great picture with you and Ducky . Will post later on the thread. :thumbsup2

Pirates and Wenches:

Welcome back and it is good to hear you all had a great cruise. Chatty Cheryl told me all about the good and the bad and it sounds like the good far outweighed the bad.

Another birdie told me that the piratezone had disappeared, which was news to me, but then I hadn't gone out there in a while. So I looked into it. One of my credit cards was 'compromised' in August and since it was one I had not used in over a year, I just cancelled it. Turns out, that was the one the piratezone had been registered with and when the registration expired on September 1, the provider closed the account.

Anyway, since I think most of what it was being used for was chat, if you want to chat, you can use the same interface over my website at the following URL.

http://jrgray.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_blastchatc&Itemid=59

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Gee......just being called chatty is quite a compliment.:worship: :worship:
Remember I am waiting to hear back from you!!:thumbsup2

All of you that had headphones in Cartagena, were you on the Best of Cartagena or the Historical Walking tour? We were on the Best and didn't get headphones.

We had headsets on our bus.:woohoo: We just had a bus of Disers with us but I guess you came later while we all took over the entire bus!!!:dance3: :dance3: We did Best of Cartagena too!! Hope you go back to workd soon!!!:thumbsup2 Any news yet??:confused3

Sorry I haven't posted, I came down with a cold the day we got off the ship, then as it was clearing up last week, I suddenly lost the hearing in my right ear. Finally cleared up today, but it's been annyoing enough that I didn't feel like doing too much. Also had to deal with submitting 4 insurance claims for our escape out of Aruba. Three for trip interruption and one for medical expenses. Plus, I've been signing my life to DVC. We started the process quickly before we got off the ship in Aruba, so we had a lot to go over with our guide once our paperwork arrived after the ship got home.

Yes, mom's doing ok, thanks for asking. We flew from Aruba to Charlotte to Boston and got in around 1am. Spent the night at my brother's in Lowell then drove straight to mom's doctor in Maine the next morning. A quick exam by her PCP to confirm what the doctors suspected on the ship, straight to the hospital for treatment, then finally home around 6 hours later. Mom's doing fine now and has a follow up visit/test next Wednesday to make sure everything's progressing as expected.

Yup, I'm the chicken lady. My best friend and I had these in high school, though I'm not sure why. We just loved them and when I saw them, I thought, why not. Rubber chickens are just plain funny and I like to make people laugh. Glad you all liked them. I witnessed the real dead chickens in Acapulco and thought it was hilarious!!

Cheers!

Jennifer

So glad Mom is okay.:flower3: Loved the Chicken!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm so glad your mom is doing fine now! I didn't know you'd left the ship until I read about it here after the cruise was over! Interesting that you caught the "disney crud" we've all been talking about catching after we got off the ship but you got off earlier. I hope you are feeling better by now too!

So glad to hear she is doing well! I am sorry you had to leave the ship tho. Thanks for the chicken..we thought it was hysterical!

Oh don't feel bad dear. He really should have said how much BEFORE you took the picture. The fact he waited till after is how they trick people into the money (either not telling them it costs before the picture, sometimes throwing the animal in your arms without asking, and not telling you how much it costs until after the photo is taken) If it was on a digi camera I'd be all like showing him the review of the photo and deleting it. :lmao: Okay not really but that would be funny, no? LOL

But I do kinda wish we'd ventured further now.. than the terminal shop. LOL I'd have liked to hold the sloth and have a picture taken! (no thanks to the monster iguana, parrot, etc.)

I'm with you! I couldn't handle them 24/7. I look forward to dropping the kids off at school and then going home and actually getting something accomplished at home.
Amen sistah... I'm still barely catching up on things here and unpacking, yardwork, pool work, keeping my plants from dying after our trip, etc. even with the kids IN school. I think it takes a really special person to homeschool though- I admire them... I admit it's just not for me though.

Ahh,the old "Son,stand here so I can take your picture" ploy!
LOL I recognized that ploy in that picture.... been there done that! :lmao:

I thought I would die from the Disney Crud on Saturday.   This is a record :worship:....... I slept over 20 hours.  John passed it down to me and I was down and out all weekend.:sad2: :sad2:

Oh no.. I hope you are feeling better now and if not- I hope you feel better soon!

Finally , We are home ....were exhausted and we probably missed alot on the thread but I wont even try to read through everything ...so if there is anything important please PM me and let me know ...It was nice to meet everyone and had a great time ...I did find out that the toe is broke but thats the only thing (Peter thought it could have been more .....And by the way , Thanks to Peter,Jack,Monica and Kim for getting my but back to the room that night after the Pirate boat incident ) I could write more but I am so tired just wanted to let you al know we are home safe and sound ....

pirate:

Glad you made it home in almost one piece. Thanks to you I started drinking tequila again. Had a great time with all of you pirates.pirate:

All of you that had headphones in Cartagena, were you on the Best of Cartagena or the Historical Walking tour? We were on the Best and didn't get headphones.

Best of Cartagena.

That wouldn't work for me...they wouldn't be color coordinated then. :) I'm serious! I put the clothes on the hangers and on the rod then can tell DS to go get his clothes [white hangers], DD gets the light blue/purple/silver ones.

I only hang up my own clothes. EVER. The kids all hang up their own stuff.
Claire's hangers are all pink :) Elvis's are Black & White, Samantha's are Purple and mine are Wood. :thumbsup2 But, the hangers are kept in their closets. They carry the clothes upstairs to their rooms and then hang their clothes up.
I don't put away any of dh's clothes either. I wash everything and put their clothes in seperate piles for each person. But, after that they are on their own! LOL!

Shelly that would've been Devon, Kristina's DD! Taylor said she was one of the nicest people she met up in the stack. Sounds like they all had a blast hanging out together! :thumbsup2

I saw Devon everywhere! She is a very nice girl! I don't think I ever introduced myself to her but, I was always saying *Hi* to her! LOL!

hey Diane!! This is Kristina's DD, Devon!!! WHile you are on topic, does Taylor have an email address??

If she does, can you pm it to me whenever you get a chance?

I didn't know you were canterqueen on the kids thread! (I read and post there since a couple of my kids post there).
Are you on the Facebook/Myspace the teens have set up?

Yes, mom's doing ok, thanks for asking. We flew from Aruba to Charlotte to Boston and got in around 1am. I am so glad that your mom is ok!!! The chicken was a HUGE hit! :thumbsup2

Don't forget the man with the Sloth!!

The guy with the sloth at La Popa popped it right into DD's arms and told me to take a picture. I was about to when DH explained we would have to pay him the picture:rolleyes:
I was so surprised, it was our first stop and I wasn't prepared for the intensity of the selling (yes I feel foolish now).
In retrospect I wish I had paid for a pic, but I think DH was pushing for us to leave and I was a bit flustered.

I was almost SICK when I saw the sloth!!! All I could think of (as I saw one of Jack's girls holding one of them) was *How many deseases does that animal have? Lice? other creatures?* :scared1:
I was totally skeeved by it!
