Cursed or Just Living in HE double hockey sticks ? you be the judge...

Got home at 6:00 Monday. The ex had been over at my request to get the boys schedules for school. He sent a detailed email, sharpened the pencils & left the mail on the counter... As I was reviewing the school mail I saw both kids had half days on Tuesday. Ex's response... I can't change my work schedule on such short notice. (note to self, give more notice)

Monday evening 10:00 pm DS11 vomited half a pizza. He removed the trash liner from the trash can sitting next to the toilet & vomited into the can. I said Nick, why would you vomit into the trash can when the toilet was right next to it? He said, But Mom, I always throw up in the trash can (noted)

Tuesday morning 7:05, the school bus that was due at 7:10 arrived at 7:00. DS11 missed the bus. Drove him to school.

Tuesday 12:00 got a call from DS8's school. He didn't get on the bus. Why not? Well, when I said he had to take the bus to the after school care, he thought I meant I would pick him up & drive him to after school care.

Picked him up & drove him to after care. It's 12:40 & I have a 1:00 meeting. I figure I'll be 10 minutes late. I hit I-95...parking lot from some accident. 1:40 I drive back to my office having missed the meeting.

Wednesday: I have a 7:30 meeting with two presidents & three vice presidents to talk about expansion of our business.

Arrainge for before care for DS8
Leave the house at 6:40 to drop him off
Leave DS11 home with a timer set for 6:55 to catch the 7:10 bus
Instructions: call me when you get on the bus... if you miss the bus, don't panic. Call me and I'll swing by after the meeting & take you to school.

7:00 drop off DS8
7:02 phone call... Mom I'm on the bus
7:04 traffic report... water main break on Baltimore Pike... I take the back roads
7:29 screech into the parking lot at corporate run up the three flights of stairs (thanks to DCL for the training)
7:30 doors to corporate are locked
7:35 still locked...
7:40 still locked...
7:41 call my office coordinator, am I in the right place? yes. do I have the right time? yes. Can you start calling all of the secretaries & see if someone can let me in?
8:35 got a phone call from the meeting organizer... Lisa, I'm surprised you missed this very important meeting.

The crazed person living inside my head excapes...

What stress laidened, non-vacationy escapades await tomorrow...

Stay tuned...

Hey, at least it didn't start in the airport baggage claim for you!!

Strikes are just a money loss for everyone. I hope it works out.
Thanks, I'm hoping for the best too. We've already lost out on a nice signing bonus. Tensions are really high at work today. I've already missed out on almost 2 months pay, I just want this to be settled.

Just figured we all share pictures, we are share what is going on in our life, and now we got to share ou illness!!!:lmao: :lmao: Let us just call it the Disney Crud!!!:rolleyes1

Coumnt me in on the Disney Crud. I had cough, runny nose and sore throat for the majority of the cruise and then tummy problems a couple days also. Still coughing now and have fever blisters on both lips.

Hello everyone,
We made it back on Monday afternoon without any events. We love the idea of not lugging our luggage off the ship and through the airport. It was great only having 2 carry ons... the debarkation was a horrible nightmare however.. They need to fix that part... Like having people get off the ship in some priority of flights...

I want to thank EVERYONE who did the FE gifts.. They were fantastic.. the magnets, candy, post its, glo sticks, pens and everything in between... What great memories we have because of them.

Shelly and Jeff.. thank you as well for being our table mates.. I really did not want to eat with just us 4.. To add to the list.. iI gained 4 lbs when I went to WW on Tuesday.. so today with most of the x-tra fluid being out of my body.. I should be fine for next week. I did run on the ship and last night I did run my 5K.. My race is next weekend.UGGGHHH!!

Thank you for all that we met, swam with drank with(matini's and tequelia sp*) Also, thanks for having me try the new WHIPPLE and BBC drinks.. yummie.

My favorite port was ARUBA.. it was so clean they were so polite and I bought so many things there as well.. Good think for the Disney Credit Card.
My International fees were from .50 to $4.55 go figure.

Congrats to your new niece Jaclyn Marie.. Thats my daughters name as well.. She was so happy to see us when we got home and she loved all the stuff I bought her(of course). It was so tough saying good bye to her in HO JOS... Tuesday morning she gave me a great big hug and kiss and said she missed me so much.. yeah no one to cook for her..lol

Speaking of withdrawals of cooking... my son Daniel put out the breakfest room service order on his bedroom door and was wondering why his order was not filled..lol.. he plays the ships whistle at 12 noon.. However.. we are so dead tired at 8pm.. and its DARK OUT TOO..

I never did get any sun burn but I did get some pretty nasty lip sores from the sun.. Oh how they hurt.. I do have a bit of a post nasal drip too.. no fevers or vomitting here.. Good luck to all those that are on the mend.

Shelly, in that pic that was posted that you sw RITA.. I think thats MARTY in the dk swim trunks.. how funny. I never saw you at the beach even.

Todd, as I told you on the ship you looked great thanks for the pix with you..

Ok I am off to do some EAGLE SCOUT work with my son. he starts school on FRIDAY..

Thank you all again for a fantastic time ...

While here, amongst friends, in the great state of DIS...

I'd like to announce my candidacy for somethinorotherTBD.

I'm an Alaskan hockey mom small town community organizer with executive experience, so I'm clearly qualified.

SK8INGMOM 2012
Takin' the Purple States

Oh shirt, now what about all those internet photos????

I pledge ONE delegate vote for the SKATING PARTY NOMINEE!

SO... where's the national convention gonna be?

RNC.jpg

I gotta go now...

TTFN!

I had the "Cinderella Slipper" dessert. It was a overly sweet, rather weird cake with a tiny white chocolate thing on top that might have been a slipper shape. I was disappointed, the description sounded like it would actually be a white chocolate slipper like I've seen on the Travel Channel. My DH and I were speculating that the suplier for the real slippers was in Florida and this was a simplified version they were using in California...

Pamela

Our server, whom we had last year, warned us ahead of time that it was not the traditional slipper. We ordered anyway because the description of the cake part still sounded good. Bad choice. Good thing we ordered a back up dessert.

The speculation at our table was that although it was a great presentation, too many of the slippers went untouched. The mousse inside was eaten but the slipper remained on the plate. So to cut out some waste, they switched to this very poor substitute.

....

I now have the sore throat cough thing that a lot of people seem to have. I took Nyquil before bed last night & I slept good so hopefull it will pass quickly.

Hope you feel better soon!

.....

Crash sounds like you didn't have an easy time of it going home. Glad you all made it safe & sound. Sorry you have the cough thing too. Hope it clears!

.....:

Thanks for the sympathey Diane, it IS appreciated.

I'm dithering with skipping the doc ONE more day as I woke up feeling a lot better - though I'm still sniffling - coughing and so on. I suspect anite of really good rest might do the trick. otherwise it might be the doc tomorrow after all!

I gotta go now... really.;)

Here are a couple shots we took from the day room at the MCO Hyatt. We saw a couple other friends before this and suddenly thought - "we should be taking photots!". Once we had the camera out, these were the only DISers we saw (although we did see other people from the cruise - DCL bags, large white cardboard, Panama canal t-shirts make it obvious!)

Oh the SHOCK and DISMAY!

To think I would have pledged my SKATING PARTY delegate vote to ya'...

Now I'll have to go get a half dozen more in support of yer SWINGIN' Agenda!

.....

OK... I really really gotta get going now...

I'm glad you're on the dummy cruise with us! Hope it works out that we can sail with you again. If not, we may just have to make another trip to CA to hang out with you & Steve again.

I'll vote for ya!

For anyone interested in a reunion CA trip. There are a few of us who will be making a March '09 trip to DL. Todd's family does a yearly birthday trip around that time. And we need to fit one last trip in before the APs expire on 3/14. No exact dates yet, but something to keep on the radar.

M - you've got my vote too!

Well....good luck on that test, Mike!

It was wonderful getting to know you, Linda and the kids. What a nice family you have. I will be putting some of our photos on the share site soon (hopefully), but here are a couple of cute ones you may enjoy.

I need a caption for your ds...."No! Not another picture!" LOL!!

You all looked very good this night, but your 2 girls and especially gorgeous!

We loved meeting you and your family too! Thanks for the pictures. Unfortunately, Nicky looked like that in a lot of pictures. It saved us some $$$ at Shutters though!

Sorry, I meant to put looked like a slice of slimey fish. I agree, it did taste nice.

When i pulled up the picture, I realized what you meant. It really does look like a slice of eel or something.

A passing paperazzi caught this shot of the couple :thumbsup2

Andy

That's a great angle on that shot. Thanks!

I so wish we really were all going on that dummy cruise! :sad2:

Hey Mike I forgot to say, thanks for the drink! It really hit the spot in the blazing hot sun on Castaway Cay! But I still owe you & Linda so you definitely have to come visit the "Witch City" & I'll buy ya dinnah! ;)

BTW I can't begin to tell you how beautiful you all looked for your vow renewal. What a great family! :goodvibes

Be careful what you offer! We have to sit down and look at our schedules. We'd love to get up that way for a weekend this fall.

Thanks so much for sharing our special day with us. I have a few pictures from the VR to send up to you!

I think I may need to take some responsibility for the Disney Crud. Trevoy and I both had coughs at the beginning of the cruise. May have started spreading it at Fantasmic. Mine cleared up by day 6 or 7 though. His is hanging around, probably because of the ear trouble.

:scared1: Just saw that someone uploaded the speedo parade...My apologies to those blinded by me :flower3:

Thanks to those who returned entries for the FE Pirate "Poker" Run. We had around 45 entries returned. I posted the results on our door, but since it was the end of the cruise, thought most wouldn't have seen, so I'll list them here. We actually had a "Five of a Kind" submitted by our wonderful tablemates Deanna (buckifan) and Rob. We made them "Honorary" Pirate Kings as they weren't really FE participants, but we wanted to share with them some of the fun. We awarded them a nice DCL Pirate Photo Frame. Of the FE participants, the awards were:

PIRATE KING: Tiger24 with a Full House (3 Queens, 2 Kings). Awarded: An antique deck of Souvenir Panama Canal Playing Cards. Printed in 1926, these were very nice. They had images of the construction of the canal and images of early transits. The suit of Spades featured early 1920's images of U.S. battleships transitting the canal. You could tell the story of Pearl Harbor with these cards, as the Arizona, Maryland, West Virginia, Tennessee and others all passed through the Canal and were imaged in this set. I showed these to Captain Puckett (apologies if I have his name wrong) who was doing the Canal presentations all week. He had seen many of the images through the national archives, but wasn't aware that they were at one time printed on souvenir playing cards. So he mentioned he'd be checking out e-bay when he got home.:) He was a super interesting guy. I saw him up on top deck after the mexican deck party as my DD9 and Rob's DD8 wanted to stay for the Cheetah Girl premiere. I asked him if he was from Ohio because he really seemed to talk up Ohio's part in constructing the canal. He seemed surprised, but said "Yes, I'm from east of Columbus." He sat down and chatted for the next 1-1/2 hours while we waited out the Cheetah girl movie.

COMMODORE: Fincantieri with a Flush. Awarded a deck of cards with the group's "DIS & Captain Jack Arrrr Back" logo on the back of the cards.

CAPTAIN: 4FosterKids with a Straight. Also received a deck of cards with the group's logo.

CHARTMAN: Tina (I believe ID is CastawayTina?). She submitted the worst hand with a Jack being the high card. We awarded her a Captain Jack Sparrow Pirate Flag.

Thanks again to all who played along. We had a fun time planning it and it sounded like many of you enjoyed it.

This was a great idea - we didn't return the cards because we had no hand at all but I see we should have. We were in the running for a straight but then out last card was a Jack and that totally didn't fit in :)

Monica -:grouphug: to you and Trevoy - I do want to say that he is a very pleasant person. Every time I saw him he was nice and polite to the people around him

I have soo much unpacking to do. Not so much Laundry because we did another load about 4 days prior to the cruise ending but I have to get everything unpacked and put away by this weekend because I am going to DL Sept 14-18 for a conference and then we will be back to DL at the end of October for a few days. Anyone out there during those dates that would like to meet up let me know

For all of you that dressed up for Pirate night it was awesome. Even my family, which looked at me strange when I suggested dressing up, went on to say they should have.

We rebooked for Oct 31, 2009 but may switch to 2010 depending on the itinerary

Okay who is this family?
This darling girl was PRECIOUS at the Club's talent show and I had no idea it was a daughter of a DIS'er???????

OK, I"m coming late to the party, since I've actually had to work since we got back, but that's us... Can you send me a full size of this pic? I love it!

Sara

Toward the middle of the cruise, and up to the end, a couple of us Moms had stuffy noses, sore throats and dry coughs, but we cracked it up to being inside in the air conditioning for so long. None of us, thank goodness, every really got "sick". I'm sorry for all of you who did. :flower3:

I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to those of you who knew what was happening in my life during the cruise, and offered sympathy and support.
Some things were just determined to go wrong, and thanks to a lot of you, I had a really awesome cruise anyway.

As some of you know, my friend from here in Cave Creek was supposed to be with us as our 5th Escaping Mom, but didn't make the trip. Her husband (our very dear friend of 20+ years) passed away on Saturday, Aug 23rd....not quite halfway into the cruise. My heart was breaking at not being here with Sharon and her family.....but I am sooooo appreciative of my DIS family for their kind words & prayers.
Thank you all so very much for the support in that situation, and to Paula & family for joining us at dinner and helping to fill the void.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the magicial TOAL! What a generous group this is!

A great way to finish it off with the No Way Jose and fellow Frednecks!

Back to work!

ok i'll admit....

I think i kept it together fairly well since leaving the ship...

This afternoon though as we taxied down the runway for takeoff...It all hit me that it was OVER...and i started to cry....

We made it home ok with all our luggage....

Never did make it to TL yesterday... It was noonish when we got to our resort and we were pretty tired so decided to just stay at the resort pool. (OKW)

It wasn't the Adult pool though and i kept waiting for the "barfly" crowd to show up.

We met up with Brack and Annette at Downtown Disney last night and they send their love.

We finshed off the evening by taking the bus over to Beach Club to have dinner.....

I couldn't say no to a NO WAY JOSE...could I? (actually i figured the diet was blown about 15 days ago anyway.)

While waiting a huge amount of time for a table we spotted Tigger24 and her family who had the same idea as us... (It's a small world after all)

See all Frednecks think alike ;)

Since our table came up first, we asked them if they wanted to join us for dinner to save the wait.

We took the boat after dinner over to MGM to transfer over to OKW bus.

The 1 bds at OKW are HUGE..... We'll any room is huge after 15 nights on the boat but they are much larger than the other DVC units i've stayed in.

I'll try to skim back a few pages and not tear up.... :sad1:

Can someone ran up to deck 9 and get me a drink?

(ok i tried)

...and we have the scars to prove it...

Would that be the physical or emotional ones?

BTW I sent a nice note to Carla at Jolly Pirates and she wanted to know if they could put up pictures from our group on their site, since it seemed we had so much fun.

I told her I'd ask first.

I miss everybody!!! :sad1:

Good luck with the interview K! :wizard:

Miss U too.

The Luck worked... So tomorrow i start a two week assignment at the community college. It's only to fill in for someone going on vacation, however the position is in HR dept so if they like me maybe they'll look out for a position for me. It doesn't pay much but is something legal at least.

Bless her heart- she must have low expectations even though she has been my manager for 15 out of 17 years. But- good news none the less.

Lucky :rolleyes1

Did you get the Cinderella Slipper Dessert or did they try to pass of a slice of slimey fish as this dessert?

We looked at the description again even after it had arrived and i'm quite sure that wasn't cheesecake. I think they switched the bottom parts around or misprinted the menu.

Oh shirt, now what about all those internet photos????[/CENTER]

Hmm wonder if i could get my hands on those shutters swinger pics for a few bucks...?

so today with most of the x-tra fluid being out of my body.. I should be fine for next week. I did run on the ship and last night I did run my 5K.. My race is next weekend.UGGGHHH!!

I never did get any sun burn but I did get some pretty nasty lip sores from the sun.. Oh how they hurt..

I'm convinced the small amount i gained was mostly fluid too. Lost almost 5 lbs since Tuesday night when we got home.

It's back to the gym and salsa class for me tonight.

I think I may need to take some responsibility for the Disney Crud.

I'll take some too. (or my DD will) Although she sounded worse than she really was. She had been on antibiotics and steroids before we left and was just finshing up the last few days. A little cough medicine after PV helped her alot.

I did get a sore throat one day mid-trip but it was better the next day after plenty of hot tea and cough drops.

My sinuses kicked in right before CC and I am now suffering from yellow phlem. (yummy) But yellow means it's leaving right? :confused3

hi everyone! i am really having some trouble getting motivated to unpack. our suitcases arrived around 6pm yesterday. i just really don't want to unpack! i did manage to get a few loads of laundry done, but that is where i stopped. i have tomorrow off still, and i know i'm gonna run around trying to get everything caught back up. oh well! hope everyone is having a good day!

I just came back from the matinee performance of Twice Charmed. As usual, they did a great job. I am planning to watch it again tonight. Tomorrow's performance is their award-winning Disney Dreams.

Before the performance, the cruise director, Brent, told us that the captain has been watching Hanna very closely. It is due to hit Castaway Cay beginning later this afternoon and into the night as it moves easterly. Because Hanna is tracking as it is right now, the captain has decided that this evening he will turn the ship and begin heading toward Castaway Cay in hopes of making port there tomorrow.

The plan is to arrive at the island around 7:00 a.m. and determine how well the island went through the storm as well as whether or not the ship will be able to make it into their dock. If all goes well, we will be at Castaway Cay tomorrow. However, they are making it very clear that the decision to do so is something that will need to be made more at the last minute because of how this storm has been acting/moving. But the captain thinks it is safe enough at least to approach the island and make ready to port if possible.

We are presently proceeding in the same moderate seas at 5.9 knots.
Will we? Won't we? Stay tuned to the exciting last day of our cruise! :)

I will let you know tomorrow what ultimately happens.

However, if you can say a few prayers for us -- or cross a few fingers if you are not really a pray-er -- I kinow we would all appreciate it!
